Saturday’s gratitude: Joe is relieved to be “off the hook” for participating in any Thanksgiving celebration so T and I can go and enjoy ourselves guilt-free.
Friday’s gratitude: found a restaurant in Gold Beach serving Thanksgiving and even offering fish or vegan options for T. T excited to go with. We’ll have fun! And maybe a stroll after if the weather’s fair.
Lisa your story for GS’ afghan squeezed my heart. Can he see Orion when he is at either parent’s? Found the roof pitch story interesting not boring. Like understanding the reasons behind the choices. Congratulations Sarah Bernhardt ;)
Lanette thanks! Was going to go by NextDoor, but asking at church or line dance is a better idea ;) As are your curses about the stove. At this point my main goal is to have the RIGHT part here when the tech comes on Dec 6. At least it’s not scheduled for the day of infamy. Joe amazingly offered to light Aunt Elsie’s stove for me but I declined. It was so hard to light when the oven repairman was here I’m afraid of it, regret all we went through to move it, convert it to propane and get it hooked up. Big mistake, just want it and its propane line gone. May change my mind it the stove repair goes south, might need Aunt Elsie’s stove to bake Christmas cookies this year. Good plan for the back side yard ;) Share before, during and after pics? Surprise container carrots? I’ll give that a try. Home grown carrots are so very much better than store bought.
Barbie you are so right about the price we pay for living in paradise. The blinding angry frustration I felt Thursday and part of Friday has abated somewhat. A reminder to me that I would benefit from regular meditation practice ;} your Thanksgiving plans. The only thing Joe really likes about Thanksgiving dinner is stuffing with gravy, so I’ll make some for him when the oven works. ;)
Margaret thanks for the ginger tea (boil grated ginger 7-10 mins dash salt, cinnamon and half tsp local honey) recipe. Have all the makings, will try next time I want a bedtime snack.
KJ look forward to hearing more about your home made potions and lotions. If anyone can, you can.
Heather pancake Christmas lunch sounds great, fish soup not so much ;) Really like your autumnal painting. Thanks for sharing!
Debbie it’s so sad what happened to Sears. Their appliances used to be best value and reliable. Their service was great. Don’t understand why they went bankrupt, always suspected someone high up milked the company like they did Railway express. Now “Sears Hometown Stores” sell k-rap, unrepairable appliances. My friend T had to replace stove, dishwasher and refrigerator, all Samsung, all less than five years old.
Vicki Extra fees without notice? Grr. Back in Idaho to renew registration online incurred a fee. You COULD renew in person but back then I didn’t have the spare time during the workday. Rocks and hard places. ((hugs))
Machka bravo to Rowan for noticing and removing the dot of sap. Yours to Michele, truth. Alas the work culture in the US is not as enlightened as in Oz. :{ Corporations are solely focused on profit, making it nearly impossible for small business owners to compete, or even survive.
@hmjack1561 con VERY gratulations on the 6K steps and eating below goal. You’ve found the keys, you can do this!!!
Michele didn’t realize that Mary Kay is still a thing ;)
Kylia which walking app do you use? Dancing at the counter sounds like fun, and would make customers smile ;) Sorry to hear R’s health is so fragile. Good compromise, wouldn’t want him getting sicker and around customers. Con VERY grats to your GS. Please tell me his parents are not the ones who owe you for the house…
Annie glad the knob locks got sorted out. Hope you can connect with the home health care folks soon. Your “do my best and then deal with whatever happens” self lecture is spot on.
Beth thank you for yours to Annie. Well said.
((hugs)) and healing energy to Rebecca, Rita, Flea and all who need them.
    Tracey where are you?
11/17: Move: ZERO sets PT , line dance party. Steps:7767

    1. Make a list of new things you want to do this month. 1. Start Christmas shopping, 2. Work on my happiness, 3. Walk the mall at least once. 4. Read a new book
    2. Respond to a difficult situation in a different way. I will see what comes up, but the daily readings I do have helped a lot already! Did this!
    3. Get outside and observe the changes in nature around you..Supposed to be in the low 80’s (f) here today and the week to come so will have plenty of time to do this. Didn’t do this today, sick.
    4. Sign up to join a new course, activity, or online community. I’ll have to look around for this. Thinking about something to do with MCC. I joined 2 new groups on FB.
    5. Change your normal routine today and notice how you feel. Will do!
    6. Try out a new way of being physically active. I will have to think about this. Maybe do a YouTube video. Did not do this.
    7. Be creative. Cook, draw, write, paint, make or inspire. I will Zendoodle. I tried out my DH’s suggestion for mirror letters.
    8. Plan a new idea or activity you want to try out this year. I have a water color set. I will experiment with that.
    9. When you feel you can’t do something, add the word ‘yet’. I need to remember this.
    10. Be curious, learn about a new topic or an inspiring idea. I learned about Alonon and downloaded their app and read through it.
    11. Choose a different route and see what you notice on the way. I did this on my walk today.
    12. Find out something new about someone you care about. Research time!
    13. Do something playful outdoors - walk, run, explore, relax. Took a walk.
    14. Find a new way to help or support a cause you care about. Have to think about this.
    15. Build on new ideas by thinking “yes, and what if…” I will remember this!
    16. Look at life at someone else’s eyes and see their perspective. According to my therapist, this is called empathy. I do this but not enough. Will try to do better.
    17. Try a new way to practice self-care and be kind to yourself. Staying in bed and resting today.
    18. Connect with someone from a different generation. I do this most days at the park.
    19. Broaden your perspective: read a different paper, magazine, or site.

God, I offer myself to Thee
    To build with me
and to do with me as Thou wilt.
Relieve me of the bondage of self,
that I may better do Thy will.
    Take away my difficulties,
that victory over them may bear witness
to those I would help of Thy Power,
Thy Love, and Thy Way of life.
May I do Thy will always!

Barbie - I loved your list of all the Christmas-oriented things you've done and that you just no longer need to do them. My experience has been pretty much the same. I've wrapped entire full-grown trees in my yard with lights in years past, and the overall memory is just watching my electric bill skyrocket before I took them down again. I don't even own a light string anymore, and I'm happier without all the decor. I appreciate the others who go all out, and happily go driving in early December to see others' decorations. I just don't need to do them myself anymore.

    [

    Later, y'all,
    Love,
    Lisa

Putting up Christmas decorations is something both dh and I do- he does most of the outside, I do the inside. Son and his girlfriend now decorate the tree.Used to be son and I decorating it together. I am ok watching Jona and Rovin do it-sweet to watch. Decorating outside for Christmas is the only decorations he does- is a grinch about everything else(every holiday-like Thanksgiving. If son isn't going to be here, he said don't bother cooking-I will cook anyways because I enjoy it. Made apricot pineapple preserves this afternoon to go on the ham if anyone wants it)
I go a bit overboard with decorations.
We usually get the tree up and the outside decorations done the Sat. after Thanksgiving and the rest of the house, inside, started that day. This year it will have to wait a day or two- We have the big sale at FanCon in SF Friday and Saturday. I don't have to go Friday but do Saturday. Maybe I will spend Friday, while he is gone, moving things around so we can get the tree up(it is up in storage in Fairfield-will have to go pick it up Sunday or Monday). The decorations stay up until the second week of January usually- depends on how I feel. Fake tree so it can stay up. Let's see how the two little cats do with the tree. Squirt bottles ready!!

Had a productive day. Walked MIL's dog, even though it was sprinkling- just a 25 min walk but better than nothing. Came home, got dishes done, two loads of laundry done and two refrigerators cleaned out along with a chicken pot pie put together and in the oven. All but the pot pie was done before noon.
Stayed busy so didn't eat until after the pot pie was in the oven. Had extra filling(everything was pre-cooked) so had a cup of the filling- really tasted great. Could have used a bit more salt but better to have too little than too much. It is cooling on the cutting board. Dinner, for who ever wants it will be that and some sliced avocado- pot pie has plenty of veggies in it already.

Lisa – Vince is like you, hates to get his hands dirty if he can help it. Yea, that first roofer was a piece of work. So glad you got the second one. Wonderful afghan! I know Tyler will love it

After work stopped at Food Lion and got more sweet potatoes that are in the freezer right now. Cooked them and will freeze some for later

Another beautiful day so Vince put up the rope lights and the “official wire wrap clipper” had her work cut out. Put yogurt in the IP so it should be ready late tonight. Then took a walk to the dollar store to get sympathy cards and some more dish towels. Better leave for church.

Anne DE – (((HUG))) ‘All the best as your mom comes home. You can do this, you are one strong woman

Took a walk to the dollar store to get sympathy cards

Going to see TSO in concert tomorrow. We’ll meet Jess and Colby for dinner first. I’m going to take my counter-top roaster with me and I told Jess today that I’m going to put Colby’s gift in the roaster. I don’t think he will think of looking in a roaster for a present….lol

Kim – that’s a great idea. I never thought of it! They do a lot of take out since Lynette doesn’t like to cook

pip – lovely pics. Thanks for sharing them

Think I’ll work on the next towel topper
