Im procrastinating on wrapping presents, they are only for Miles anyway and im just bringing him one as his Birthday is the 7th of January

Annie- Breath girlfriend..one moment at a time..take it easy on yourself and like I said ,Hospice is there to help..lean on them4 -
Sang a Cantata at church today. We had horns, a flute, and bells. Keeps me in the Christmas spirit. I will skip the Choir party too crowded to me this time of year and a pot luck. Went to a smaller gathering yesterday and it was just right!
Prays for my friend Jane who will be going in for CT on her lungs this week... She had treatment for breast cancer two years ago using radiation. Thank you!8 -
I appreciate the ladies that have sent me cards.💖🤗. I decorate with them and it makes me happy!
My friend and I had a good visit the other day, ending it by seeing some Christmas lights here on Whidbey.
The main house with the rows of lit flowers was really pretty. Us getting our photo taken down the path. Our dark giggling faces😂.

Carol - It's just a bit of gossip about the stuff that is on my daily mind. My old schoolfriends are very important to me. We live in each other's pockets, even though we are separated by distance. We regularly WhatsApp in a group and Zoom fortnightly.
P has the granddaughter who has just been diagnosed with diabetes 1. Her 95 year old mother died about six weeks ago. B has a large fishpond in her garden in Scotland, and many ravenous herons. She couldn't find any fish in the pond and thought the skulking herons had eaten them all. They put a new net on. The leader heron is still lurking, but some fish have survived under the weeds, and came out when they fed them. G thought she had bedbugs after a holiday in a Cornwall b&b. It got worse and worse, until she was covered in 'bites'. It turns out it was contact dermatitis. She was in considerable pain and itching uncontrollably. She is feeling better now with creams and pills and a change back to her normal soap powder. This has happened before, and is related to her mental state.
Although P gets on my nerves IRL, I am as close to these women as sisters. We have been friends since schooldays.

Allie - wow, what a nice picture of Homer. Very thoughtful gift.
Annie - so glad to hear your sis is arriving soon. Hope the hospice nurse can make it out tomorrow and get an assessment of your mom's situation. Good that people will be stopping by today too. (((BIG HUGS))))
Margaret - sending good thoughts to your friend Jane.
Rosemarie - good luck finding a dog. Our local animal shelter is jammed, they have cut the adoption fees in half. Many of them look very sweet and have pit bull in them. I'm not in the market for a dog that weighs more than 15 lbs and now with the chickens - Rosie is more than enough. Things may change at some point.
Beth - thinking about your mom.
Barbara - you mentioned a couple days ago Joe was willing to let go of the old vans. Sounds like they'll be put to very good use, housing is much needed for so many these days. Good for him! So glad the thermos stopper surfaced. Whew!
I spent most of the morning getting presents wrapped (actually digging through my stash to find gift bags and tissue paper. ) Got it all done, my friend is stopping by after church and off she'll go. It's just perfect.
I'm getting my notes ready for the Dr. Matt visit tomorrow. Anxious to get his opinon on my "House Walking with Weights". He'll probably have some good pointers.
Reminder if you want your stats added to tomorrow's weekly check-in, let me know.
Welcome new ladies.

Heather ~ Thanks for the explanation. I was feeling really confused! Yes, friends we have had for many years are so important to us. Mine go back to my years in college. Except for a couple who are in the area in which I live, we seldom see each other but connect on Facebook and email.
I am meeting my sister and niece for lunch tomorrow at one of the nearby malls. I have not seen my sister or my brothers in about 6 yrs. We completed the transfer of ownership of my mom's house from one to another and then the Covid Panic came. My sister's oldest daughter lives in the house with her young daughter. Her other daughter is driving her mom up tomorrow and we will have lunch.

Corey's out over-thinking his kitchen area portion of the sunroom, Egg is watching him from outside the big windows, enjoying the beautiful December sunshine while he paces back and forth. I participate as long as I can, and then ease back inside for more crochet and c.r.a.p. TV... nice easy day today. He already went with my list and got groceries for the week, and I've been trundling back and forth to the littlest room in the house all morning. There are worse things, but it does make me tired.
Hope everyone's having or had a peaceful Sunday, and that the pre-Christmas week is enjoyed and not employed to stress ourselves out.
Love y'all,

Good morning ladies!
Mother story not happy so spoiler.....She has asked us kids to come help her downsize again. Not going to happen. We have done it three times. After the last time she disowned us all, cut off all contact, moved into a space where no one can keep an eye on her. When she needs something she wants to communicate again. 😏 The last straw was my sister tryingvto help mom with a car and finances. My sister got sh** on by mom. She is on her own i am saddened to say. Long bad history. It could have been different, but her personality didnt help. I can't allow her evilness into my life. I already have enough stresses. I am hoping my sister has learned this. She is the baby and feels guilty for not helping. How many times can you get beat up mentally before you quit trying. Hence my removal from the situation. My brother and sistervwill tell you that I was their mom growing up.
I picked up my youngest daughter yesterday to run to store with me. It was wonderful having one on one time with her. She talked a lot. Still not talking to or about her sister, but I will stay out of that situation. She does want to do Christmas on the 23rd after our hillbilly parade. Too bad she has issues with her sister as we could have done Christmas with them both on 23rd, then gone to my brother's until the 26th. Oh well.....I won't let that bother me too much. Got to see both grands too! Granddaughter was on her way out again.
My living room looks like remnants of Christmas. Sorted gifts to wrap and started saran wrap balls. Lost energy after lots of back and forth yesterday trying to get a few things. Forgot one item so will grab when I go out this morning. Once gifts and balls are done I will be as ready as I want to be for next weekend. I think I will do chili for the 23rd. Put in crockpots and forget!
I am blessed to have you all in my life. Your experience sharing helps in many ways. I would love to road trip and meet you all in person. You inspire me!
Better get some things done.
Much ❤️ and lots of ((HUGS))
So sorry you have more mother drama.
Had more here last night with MIL- her niece in Osaka called her. She wants to come here and take MIL back with her to live- the few kickers are- She wants to MIL to change the trust and take dh and son out and give everything, including the house to her niece(same niece that she accused of stealing from her last time she came a few years ago). She wants to do it now because MIL in almost 88yrs old.
Dh just said fine, do it but he wasn't going to help in any way. Her and her niece would have to handle all of it, including getting a translator(niece doesn't speak English). I am sure MIL was trying to pick a fight, see if dh would try and talk her out of it. At this point, he is so done with all of it.
This morning he went over and she has changed her mind again. Says she doesn't want to move, she isn't stupid and knows Otsiko just wants her money(over $700,000 if we sell the house plus assets) AND she was planning on putting MIL in a rest home over there!!!
Our suggestion would be if she does want to move over there- do it for 6 months. Take half of what is in her bank account. IF she wants to stay after that, then we would put the house on the market.
My biggest fear would be that the niece get all the money and sends MIL back or not even get her to Japan and then MIL will have no money and no home. She is NOT moving in with us.

Interesting .. I think I may have had one UTI in my life, in my 20s, although thinking back, it may have been a kidney stone because it was a bit different from what people describe as a UTI. So they have been completely off my radar. Didn't even enter my head that was what was going on with my mother.

Kylia - Not much on road trips these days, but I'll be waiting at the diner for you to arrive as you gather people up! Hope your car has water wings for the UK and Tasmania parts of the trip! After hearing more about your mother, it makes so much more sense of your overwhelming sense of responsibility to everyone for everything, but the fact that you take so much joy in so many things is a grace that arises purely out of your own strength. My sis and I have discussed more than once that because of the many years trying to survive our father, we know joy when we see it, and we hold onto it, squeezing every moment for all it's worth. It's not a small thing to learn. I've met an awful lot of people who don't seem to know when they're happy--still complaining, still believing there is something wrong with everything in their lives. Pain, sorrow and unhappiness are easy to find, or even invent, if that's all you can see, but joy doesn't stay where it's not recognized. Something I always remember at this time of year.
Halfway through my first cup of coffee. Bad day yesterday, gut-wise, but I woke up less rumbly this morning. Fingers crossed it's a better day. I was useless yesterday, but Corey got the entire second layer of flooring down in the sunroom. Hopefully I can assist him in getting more insulation in today. It's hovering right at freezing, but the sun's not up yet.
Hope it's a good day for all...
Love y'all,

That is PERFECT-
I try and find the joy and happiness in the little things so the bad parts dont get me down so much.
DH is just how you describe. Can't find any happiness for more than a minute if that(and that seems to only be when he is with the cats-they bring him a bit of happiness). He is clueless at all he is missing out on because of this

Debbie Hugs. At least my difficult parent is several states away.
Got all the presents wrapped. Still need to do one ball. Went to friend's house for lady time and desserts. Also picked up Amish built table for farmhouse in Kentucky that friend was getting rid of. Now will need to find a bench and chairs. Oh, and have a flipping yeast infection again. 😫
Quiet day.
Hope you sleep well.

Did Michelle Dozois Your Best Body Circuit DVD and then Leslie Sansone’s Walk your Hips and Thighs slim DVD then went to WalMart. Boy, I had to wait for one car before I could buy gas. Usually I don’t have to wait. Oh well, this is the holiday, everyone is out.
Came home and made more biscuits. Decided to just buy the Red Lobster biscuit mix as I couldn’t be bothered kneading again. Then made these M&M cookies. Had another batch and thinking I’d make two batches of the M&M cookies, but realized I only had an 18oz bag and that would be too much so decided to make the second batch chocolate chip. Then made fudge
We were supposed to go to a dinner for Vince’s train club and last night I got out these earrings. I asked Vince if he could fix them since I was thinking I’d wear them to the train dinner. Then he says “we’re not going”. He thought he’d be too busy decorating so he canceled. To be honest, in a way I was looking forward to it. Oh well…
Bowling tomorrow and then ceramics
Annie – so glad your sister is coming
Vince is now into the “clean up after getting ready for holiday” mode. He’s vacuuming the steps right now. I put the shower curtain that I made at the top of the steps. Maybe if I’m lucky he’ll put it up. It’s just a pain, I probably need to get new shower hooks that aren’t as much work. I can’t be cleaning right now since every ten minutes or so I have to jump up to take cookies out of/put in the oven. Update: success!!! he put it up for me
I texted Denise and Pete a few weeks ago that we were having our Christmas Eve on December 23 and we’d love for them to join us and to please let me know. Haven’t heard a word. Not that I was expecting to, tho. And I know that there’s no way they’re going to come surprise me.
Margaret – prayers for Jane
Rebecca – I don’t ever think I’ve seen a cuter penguin
Carol – have a great lunch
Debbie – YOU don’t want MIL living with you, but how does your dh feel about it? Will he feel guilty? He put up with her “attitude” (can’t think of an appropriate word) so how will he feel if she doesn’t have any place to live?
Have a cold right now, sneezing and all. No, I know it's not covid. Just sneezing.

Sorry your evening out was canceled.
Dh said he would just make her a ward of the state- tell them she gave all her money away and now she has nothing. There is no way they could live together. He stayed there for a few months almost 24/7 when she fell and then now twice a day and he is about ready to drive off a cliff.
He was ready(or says he is) to let someone else take over. They can have everything. I am hoping it never comes to that. His mother has not worked since before she married his dad-(met him while she was bar hoping in Tokyo, had a 2 yr old and FIL felt sorry for her so brought them here and married her- worst thing he ever did is what he told us so often). His dad was military and after retiring from Air Force, worked at the Naval Shipyard here in town. He paid for everything and now she is saying she is going to give it away.
I would never live with her. I would leave. She would be happy with that. I would move in with my mom

It's her money, her house, her decision ... I would be inclined to let her go and let the chips fall where they may!1 -
Spent a little time in the post office today.
It seemed like everyone else in line was mailing Christmas packages or collecting Christmas packages.
And I was mailing legal documents. Such a relief to get them out. When I wasn't in the garden or on my bicycle, I was working on them this past weekend.
I have not given or received a Christmas card or package this year. 😀
At work I have been attending a meeting marathon!! I had to duck out mid meeting at one point to get some water because there were no breaks between meetings. Everyone is trying to get last minute meetings in before the break.
I am also putting notes on everything so I will remember where I left off when I get back to work.

I wouldn't have minded the meetings if they were informative, and one was, but in the others they just wanted to chat. I could have used the time to work on my code.
Fortunately, they were all online meetings so I was able to get a few things done while everyone else chatted.
This is the first evening in ages where I've finished what I planned to do and could actually relax a bit!!
The things don't happen very often! I'm usually working on something right up till about 11:30 pm or midnight, and then I head to bed as quickly as possible so I can get about 7 hours of sleep.

Morning from the pre-dawn darkness of the Arkansas Valley, clear but ten degrees warmer than yesterday, which is most appreciated in mid-December!
I finally woke up yesterday with the design breakthrough I needed to get started on my niece's bookshelf quilt. Corey and I are both terrible about overthinking design on anything and until that subsides, so that we get to something simple and do-able, we don't get very far. I'm sure it's quite frustrating to watch from the outside, but our subconscious is scrambling in the background. We always tend to get there, in the end.
A few chores to do before I can get started on my quilt top, and if there's any energy left over, I'll get some more insulation done in the sunroom. We reminded each other that we're not under a deadline, and we don't have to finish all this in one go, etc., etc., and took a complete day off yesterday, which was a good thing. Corey got his head around a less complicated wiring design (that I suggested, but then I had sense enough to shut up and give him time to absorb it and see why I suggested it). This means we can move forward with more insulation because there will be far less under-wiring to do.
Also finally, finally kept working through the motions until I was able to do ten good rows of tunisian crochet. It's quite similar to knit once it's worked up, and I will eventually learn other stitches than just the simple stitch, but I'm pleased to finally break out of my go-to double crochet (the photograph in the spoiler is pretty much all double crochet) and do something different.
Also woke up this morning not in pain, which I am terribly grateful for. My head's always so much clearer when I'm not staggering through the fog from the very beginning of the day. The last two days were kind of rough, but if I can get three good ones in again, it's almost worth it!
Couple images of one finished afghan, and Egg's actions once she decided that I was ignoring her Saturday evening. Corey laughed himself sick:This is my "scrap-ghan lap-ghan." Used bits and bobs of bright-colored yarn that have been hanging around for yonks, and I just framed up the square of corner-to-corner scraps with navy yarn to make it a useful size to use as a lap blanket. May give it to my son's fiancée for her birthday in April. Not my best work, all in all, but it was satisfying to finish and get off my radar! Better done than perfect, right? Right.
Egg being an absolute goober:
Hope it's a good day for all... time to get a little clean laundry folded and my pills put together for the week, then see what the day holds!
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR
