I've ordered some tea-towels. Do you call them that in the US? My old ones are at least seven years old and looking tired. :p I always hang one over the oven door and John spreads it out, obscuring the whole door, and I fold it in two again, so I can see the glass. It's a constant battle, like the light levels in the living room. :p When they arrive tomorrow, I will throw out three old ones. Promise!

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

I know them as tea towels.

    I don't know when I got mine ...

Maybe at or prior to my first wedding in the late 1980s???
Maybe when I moved to Australia in 2009???
    Maybe some at each time???

I do know that some of the ones from the late 1980s had gone oily, but I researched how to clean them, and did.

They aren't something I've ever thought of replacing!

I'm pretty sure my kitchen hand towels were purchased between 2000 and 2002 ... in the years shortly following my separation from my husband when I was redecorating my apartment.

Lisa: 🥰 the bell bottoms. I have the same problem with calfs. Always had a problem with long boots. 😝

We have a meet and greet after lunch for our charity. (U3A) Otherwise, nothing fixed, so will work on my Christmas cards.

🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

    Hi
Lisa I wear flare or bell bottom jeans especially in the winter. They fit better over boots. Those are awesome!

Been busy. Training caught up. Christmas cards mailed. The only shopping left to do is picking up lottery tickets and saran wrap. DH hunts tomorrow. My plan is to wrap and do saran wrap balls for both daughters families. I will enjoy just being home alone.

I need to get back to walking, logging, and drinking water. Those are priorities. After those things, I really need to deep clean house. I dispise dusting! This will wait until Christmas is put away. I decorate for DH. Other than outside lights, it is rare for anyone else to see inside. I would have loved to have made cookies this year, but just not high on priority list. Neither of us needs them! DH bought a bunch of chocolate candies and the chocolate dipped peanut butter crackers from a friend. By bunch I think combined over 50 dozen! He has given quite a bit away, but a bunch will go in freezer.

Tracey You are so talented. Love the stockings!

    I know there was more.....

Be kind to yourselves! This is a really hard time of year for many. I take to heart the advice on saying no and keeping things simple. I just can't fathom giving up Christmas card sending which would simplify my holidays. Since each message is different it does two things for me. One is it makes me reflect on the blessings and experiences of the year. Two is that I hope it brings a smile to the recipient to know someone is thinking of them. The rest of the holiday stuffs I could do without.

    Healing thoughts for those ill.

    Hugs for any who need.

Admiration for all that you do!

    Much love,
Kylia in unseasonably warm Ohio (not complaining!)

Machka - I have just thrown some away that are over twelve years old. Keeping the others. The tea towel is on prominent show in my kitchen and a welcome splash of colour. I think of it like a cushion, or art work. Here are the ones I've just ordered. My accent colours are blue and pink.

Yesterday I also washed my long-neglected oven gloves and aprons. For some reason I was dirt-blind to them. ;)

Going to have an art session this afternoon.

Heather - Those are lovely. We would probably call them dish towels, but I've also heard them called kitchen towels or hand towels. Ours are gray, because my beloved husband, the mechanic, has never broken the habit of washing his hands when he comes home in the kitchen sink and drying them on the dish towel hanging over the oven door. Anything pretty, or with light colors, would get grubbed out immediately because the only way he could get every bit of his hands clean is a half-hour soak and then using a wire brush to scrub his hands with scouring powder. Not going to happen. I have dark brown bath towels for him for the same reason. Easier that way! I wash them all in hot water whenever I run a load of hot, and don't worry about if they fade because... who cares? They were gray and brown to begin with! B)

Kylia - So well said - why is being kind to ourselves so much harder than being kind to others? All of us reach out to others with kindness and grace and love this time of year, but seem to have a hard time making sure that we're OK ourselves. It's so important that we get past feeling "self-indulgent," and understand that we need to turn the golden rule on its head. Treat ourselves as we treat others. Be kind.

Michele - Wow! Yours is one of the houses I love to drive past close to Christmas. Just stunning.

Tracey - It's really hard to pin down what to charge for something that you put that kind of time into. You might be surprised at how many people will buy something custom-made and meaningful for that kind of price. I've seen them on Etsy that are less personalized than yours and they're up in the hundred dollar range. Facebook Marketplace is still free to post, you pay only if you want to advertise. If you remember Janet, who made those beautiful beaded Christmas ornaments, she sold hers at a profit, as well. Just trust that your time is worth paying for when it is for something as beautiful as you create.

Annie - Your father's desperation to get your mother upstairs is absolutely heartbreaking. This is why it was worth putting the hospital bed into the downstairs. I hope you were all able to get some sleep. Thinking of you, sending more hugs.

    More in a bit.
    Love y'all,
    Lisa

Rebecca ~ The Japanese Christmas cards are lovely. And, your spicy stew sounds good.

Joy ~ We are not going to have a meal with the family this Christmas. For many years we have celebrated holidays and cookouts with daughter-in-laws family because we all get along very well. But, since the pandemic, it has become a burden and I no longer enjoy going for dinners at restaurants or at relatives homes. Guess we are just getting old and slow! LOL I think my son (he's my only child) understands and they will come by for snacks and presents on Christmas day and then go to DIL's mom's. We love her family and I think they love us but time to make new traditions.

Lisa ~ Thanks for understanding my ire at the false delivery information. So glad to have gotten taken care of.

    Carol in GA

Thanks! Some of the cards were from an exchange student from Japan that my sister hosted many years ago. When I was in Oregon visiting family, I had met her, and when we both returned to Japan we met up a couple times in Tokyo. Her cards have carefully printed English so they mean alot, as she was learning it at the time. Some are from various telephone companies that husband worked with when he ran the telephone office on base. The cards are beautiful but their business cards inside, not so much.😁
The soup was delightful as I had never used that Italian sausage before. It paired well with the zucchini, and the mushroom raviollis. I just buy Baritoli brand pasta that is near the cheese and yogurts. It seems like a good quality ready made pasta. I usually keep it in the fridge for a week and then it goes in the freezer. Either way its only a couple minutes in boiling water.👍🏼

Rosemarie – I vote for getting your nails done. Cleaning sounds too boring. If it were me, I would just ignore that woman. That’s what she does to you. You have more important things in your life

    Newcomer bowling tonight

Got some crab cakes, stuffed crabs and lobster cakes. We’ll see how Vince likes them. They also had Keebler chocolate chip cookies market down to $1.75. Heck, a bag of chocolate chips alone costs $1.69. Update: Vince didn’t care for the crab cakes so I’ll finish them. Tonight we’ll try the stuffed crabs

Worked and then we went to Ikea in Charlotte. See, I want these wine glasses (I’m just tired of the ones I have) and Vince wanted to show them to me since they came 10, 12, and I think 15oz. I wanted the 10oz, it’s not like we’re big wine drinkers and you can always refill the glass

Allie -= what kind of surgery is Smiles having?

After going to Ikea, I’m making 3 of the spinach feta pies for Christmas Eve. I’ll just cut them up and freeze them.. Then wrapped the ceramic tree from MIL for Jess and Colby. Had to put big signs on it “fragile”. Now just have the present for the gal who runs the bowling to wrap but first Vince needs to get the filler for it. Need to order the few gifts we need to order from Amazon. Hope to do that tonight or tomorrow at the latest

Carol – can you edit your post to WalMart or maybe make another one saying how you received the card?

Tracey – absolutely gorgeous stockings. How long did it take for you to make them? Oh, yes, make one with bicycles for pip. Even if it’s not for this year (I’m sure you’re swamped with things you have to do – like the rest of us)

M – good thoughts being sent for your mom

Rebecca – they don’t use raw eel in sushi, do they? The Japanese/Korean people use so much detail and color in everything

Lisa – that’s wonderful that those guys will take care of your front lawn like that. Wish I had someone who would do it for free!

Allie – Siri is adorable. Do you think Doris will wind up being a foster failure?

    Michele NC

I don't eat raw sushi for the most part. I do eat raw tuna sushi, but only if it has the bright orange fish eggs on top. They are just salty, and pair well with the tuna. I also use wasabi and soy sauce so all that kind of disguises the raw flavor.
    Here's the meal I had yesterday with a friend.💖

I describe the ramen at this place as what a Japanese grandmother would make. I lot of things in it.💖

Worked then the soup kitchen. This gal who usually runs the kitchen on Fridays made me feel real good. When I got there she said “were your ears burning. I just said ‘Michele WILL be here, right?’” Then picked up a prescription for Loki and then went to the Salvation Army. Came home and made cornbread muffins for Christmas Eve (I’ll freeze them) and fudge. Not sure if I should have used more sugar or not. We shall see how it turns out.

Allie – that’s horrible someone stole decorations. That happened to us about 30 years ago. It was interesting because a day or two later we saw soldiers that looked exactly like ours at another house that didn’t previously have any decorations. Of course, we couldn’t accuse them.

Annie DE – dear heart, real big hug. . You father trying to “help” your mother broke my heart

Lanette – do you know that we had to have that Snoopy countdown clock repainted? Glad you liked the decorations. Wish I could post the video, but you would have to have VLC to view them and not everyone has it

kylia – I wish bell bottom pants came in other colors than just blue jeans. I much prefer them. I usually have to get the straight leg in pants that are another color

Rosemarie – Vince won’t eat the crab cakes, so I’ll have to. He also won’t eat the stufffed crab. Tonight we’re going to try lobster cakes. If he won’t eat those, I’ll have a lot I have to eat

How I wish I could post the video of the decorations. You can see the snowball fight and how the arches are sequenced. Oh well,….the files really is too large.

A guy who works at BK used to volunteer at the soup kitchen. Mike told me today that he's a really good cook, used to cook for Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and some other places.
