Rosemarie--Sending big HUGS! Please don't be hard on yourself. You are dealing with a lot and there is not set way to do it. Most important do not give up or feel guilty about anything. I am sure your son is just wanting to spend time with you. I think the idea of putting all DH's things in one room and deal with when you feel able a little at time makes good sense. The rest of the home do what feels comfortable for you.
Annie--You write us as many books as you need to sort out what is going on. I hope your sister stays with you through this time. Prayers for all of you.
Allie--Sorry to hear about your fall. Glad nothing is broken, please rest and take care of yourself.

John talked about all kinds of subjects with Max, including the difference between 'fairness' and 'equality'. I was having a nap. He took himself off to home around 2.45.

We just had egg sandwiches for dinner, because of the huge lunch. Then stewed apples and berries.

Beautiful sunny afternoon here, but barely in the mid-forties, so I'm keeping the fire going for now.

The morning started off at 18 degrees, so Egg and I have enjoyed the warmth and cozy of a crackling fire this morning. Since I had the fire going, I used it as an excuse and stayed in the living room and drew a template for the quilt top that I'm working on. I don't always, but when this many elements are coming together, it helps me stay on track. Kim, thank you for the compliment. I always look forward to seeing how they turn out, too! Not always happy with them, but I'm usually as surprised as anyone else...

Built it in Excel, one of my favorite programs of all time. The dark background is my niece's preference. The colors are just to give me an idea of how many of each book rectangle and other things that will fit within the given shelf space. The actual "book" pieces will be from cotton scraps in different prints of every description. This is just the top of the queen bed quilt - the borders will be a large frame and will make it so that it can be used on a king bed, too, if necessary.

I say I "stayed in the living room," but that involved, of course, two loads of laundry, dishes in the dishwasher and then put away after they finished. And two batches of cookies, one more of the peanut butter cookies and one big batch of the cowboy cookies to send with Corey to work, kind of a holiday gift to the guys Corey works with. He'll be off all next week, so I need to get them to them this week. No worries about me munching on them, not with the raisins and dried cranberries in them. Urk.

Fully ensconced in the living room now, though, and it's time to get the laundry folded and some crocheting done after that, I think. Not much of a rest day so far, this rest day... But it's my kind of rest day.

Worked then stopped at Big Lots. Christmas items are ONLY 25% off (no way!) and extension cords are full price. Then stopped at WalMart for apples since I thought I had another bag only I don’t. Home and made an applecrisp. Looks like I may get to go for my walk.

Oh, yesterday Amazon said they were going to deliver a package by 9. Well, 10:30 comes around and its not here. So Vince checks the tracking. It was in Fairway Acres (one block away from us). The next time he looked it was on its way back to Charlotte. Huh? So...he calls Amazon. The first person he spoke to couldn’t help any so he spoke to that person’s boss who agrees that since it was one block away, it shouldn’t be now delivered sometime between the 19 and 22nd. Vince said that there were Christmas gifts (that’s true) and the people he was going to give them to would be here on the 22nd (close to the truth). In the end they gave him a $50 gift certificate.

Apple crisp out of the oven. When it cools I’ll probably put it in the downstairs refrigerator.

Now made protein pancakes to have during the week.

Kim – the way the MD was talking, I got the impression that people in constant contact with children should get it, and since I only see PJ a few days/year, he didn’t feel that I needed it. Guess I really should get it after reading about it.

Annie – what can I possibly say??? All I can do is send you a very big virtual hug. Really wish your sister could stay with you for longer. Totally agree with Flea about your dad. Heartbreaking, that’s for sure

Kylia – I missed the katla update. How is she??? I’m going to go back and try to find it, hope I do. Update: I couldn’t find it

Lanette – that “free box” what is it supposed to be used for? Are items in there supposed to be for the homeless, maybe? If so, that’s horrible that she’s taking things and then selling them. I can’t help thinking of the saying “karma is a b****” I usually donate items to the Salvation Army. Which reminds me that the box for them is getting full which means it’ll be time for a donation. Actually, I was going to make one after exercise tomorrow only BK asked me to work so I guess it won’t get donated until next week. On another note: you’re right, I probably have shared every other germ with Vince. Aren’t I generous ))))))

Allie= OH girl, glad you didn’t break anything. Hope that tylenol helps. Maybe BenGay, too?

Gifts for Jess and Colby just came from Amazon. Guess I need to get wrapping. Ceramics tonight. I'll probably put the second coat of clear glaze on my California Raisin and then start on my praying mantis. The first one I did is starting to chip and it was done about 8 years ago and I do think my painting has gotten better. The only thing is....the other gal drew the eyes for me and I don't think I can draw them as well. Wonder how I can do it. Maybe cut out the size of the pupil, but the white dot? Gotta think on it. hmmmm...gotta ask tonight if they still have the carbon paper.

I was curious so I looked them up ... they start at $5 here for 200 grams (7 oz) of chocolate chips. Although they are having a sale right now so it's $4/200 grams.

I'm still working on my database. Designing it is one thing ... building it is another. But I'm having fun ... mostly. Today was a little bit tedious as I build a table and populate I will be querying later. I've gathered the data that will go into it for a few place, but it needs to have no duplicates and removing the duplicates is a bit of a slow process. Oh well. It should speed things up further down the track.

I did my last (almost) little grocery shop to get things for the pavlova I am hoping to create. I want to try to create a maple and mango pavlova. We'll see how it goes. The only additional thing I need is heavy cream, but I didn't want to get it too early.

This evening, I have been working on stuff for my cycling club.

And watching a Christmas movie. We did start late this year but that's OK, we'll keep watching them into January. They're all on DVD because our TV channels don't play very much in the way of Christmas stuff. Right now they're doing a James Bond marathon which we were watching up till yesterday.

Got the presents wrapped for the grandchildren. Just got John's Father Christmas ones to wrap now. I usually just throw some tissue paper around them.
Lots of cards came today and yesterday. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
John is icing the cake right now. I'm going to make a big pot of ragu for tonight and the freezer. Having roasted cauliflower with it.
G's skin problem is still terrible. Strong steroid cream now. She is miserable.

John's icing was a bit floppy. The eggs were large ones, so probably too much egg white. We added a bit more icing sugar. I tried not to intervene, but he was struggling. He is putting it on now.

Ragu made. And I have 3 egg yolks in the freezer for another day.

Watched Cas, (Clutterbug) doing a quick pre-Christmas clean up today. Had a few giggles. Did inspire me to tackle a couple of nagging tasks! Did any of you do 'Elf on the Shelf'? Not a thing here.

I made sure I did all my exercises, made up a spare bed, and did my writing/editing first. Good day.
I also put out the felt tree decorations I made with Edie earlier this year. No tree, so they are on the shelf. They were the first thing I'd sewn for 40 years!
