Barbara I am confused....I thought Fosamax was for bone building? I am on estradiol and have been for 10 years. No problems with it, but also have no history of clots etc. Definitely need more information.

Margaret Yay for you in standing up for your DH's health decisions. My DH totally trusts the doctors. It can be really unnerving for me. I do go into all his appointments mainly because what DH hears when doctor is talking is....wawawawa. I am also the one that questions.

Lisa I can't take nsaids either. I am in pain from the minute they hit my stomach all the way through intestines. And no, it is amazing how little they actually read in charts. I miss my old school doctor. He was a true believer in natural remedies, prevention, and follow ups. Actually, I have had two doctors like that. I currently have one that I am not a fan of.....probably should look for new. Will put it on my list.

I got two totes of misc stuffs sorted and dealt with before work this morning. Finished laundry and put away what isn't laying in pool table drying. Vacuumed base boards, dining room chairs, and bathroom (lots of hair). Productive morning so far....let's see if I can transfer that to work work-haha!

    Hugs!

Kylia I too go to all my DH’s doctor appointments. If I left it up to him, he would say nothing changed and he is good every single time. I have all our meds and appointments on notes on my phone and bring that up every doc appointment and write down the suggested changes to supplements and/or med doses along with questions to ask the doc. Those notes have provided me and the medical community valuable information. Since I always have my phone with me, it is easy to add questions change doses, etc. I also have a list of allergies, food sensitivities, vaccines, surgeries, etc on them, so when going to a new doc, I can either print the list or use it when filling out the forms. Saves all sorts of time and is more accurate than my memory since I have to remember for both of us! My doc is a functional doc and looks for the reason for the symptom, not just prescribe meds. The practice will give suggestions for supplements, changes in food, and will prescribe if needed. I am very happy with them. The only thing I question is the quarterly blood work. But I see the reason, it shows if the suggested changes are working.

Personally, I don't trust any generalised doctor. They know nothing. I only want to see the top person, who might, just possibly, have a clue. Maybe not. :#

Here, GPs are like triage units.

You go to a GP with your list of symptoms.
The GP sends you for bloodwork and other tests to try to narrow the scope of the problem.
Then the GP sends you to the specialists ... to specialist surgeons, to physiotherapists, etc.

It's rare that a GP will diagnose, unless it is something fairly straightforward. For example, when I went to one for my cat bite, she diagnosed that it was infected and put me on antibiotics.

But for most things I go to the GP to get referrals to specialists.

And I always have to remind them of my allergy to antibiotics and about my genetic pre-disposition to clotting.

It seems many, if not all, the doctors in the US are the same. My primary care does the bloodwork, tries to correct with supplements and diet, if no better next blood test (quarterly) you go to a specialist, this is why I now have a gastroenterologist, cardiologist, ENT, Renal, Therapist, ophthalmologist , surgeon, and a urologist! I don’t mind but it just seems I’m going to some doctor or having bloodwork done almost every week for the next 2 months!

G came over, stopping in on her way home from her two night break in Eastbourne. On the way she drove to Beachy Head, which is a famous beauty spot.
She is relieved to have an appointment with a consultant on Thursday. But worried about potential treatment for autoimmune disease. Steroids and monoclonal antibodies. Well, we shall see. She is astonishingly stalwart.
Nice to see her. John joined us after he had finished talking to his younger daughter about her next book. Deadline Jan 8th, so she is getting up at 5.30 to finish it!!
She is talking about moving down here eventually. Nothing definite, but she is playing with the idea.

I'm feeling tired and achy today. Legs a bit jelly like. Machka has made me think..... :o
We have the girls tomorrow. No doubt 'Art' will be done. :p

Lisa I have vinyl plank in my kitchen and laundry room/mud room. I love it! Ot has survived 10 years of large dogs and is now going on 14 yrs. Easy care. Still looks new. Not slippery when wet. I always will remember linoleum as getting really slippery when wet. Just my two cents worth. ;)

Well it is now 1pm and I feel much better. I now have the energy to do a walking video while listening to a Debbie MacComber audio book, while sipping on coffee. All this seemed completely out of reach 2 hours ago! Of course, my son and DIL were here 5 days and I prepared for them beforehand and I went to the rescue 2 mornings while they were here.

I stayed up one night until 1 am looking at used hybrid Toyota Camrys. I might get a hybrid but I am not going to sit at a charging station in the GA heat during the summer. Hopefully I can just use gas during the summer months. I need to look into it more. Does anyone have a hybrid?

    Best,
    Rosemarie from GA

I saw a man jogging along the main highway well rt 66 with no shoes or shirt,I was flabbergasted to say the least.
I was in such shock that I wanted to stop and help, but I don't think he wanted any, maybe an escapee from the CVH which is the psychiatric hospital in the next town over.who knows..

Or he could have been an ultra marathoner in training

Machka - you’re right. We still just say “go get tested” I have not heard it shortened to RATS.
I love how you keep Christmas going well into January. I would do that as well if I thought I could get away with it.

Beth - thank you. I had a sense of déjà-vu this year when we were unwrapping presents. It’s an odd feeling.
So sorry for your Mom’s decline. I hope she is able to recover. I’ll pray for some strength and rest for all of you.

Flea - lovely family. The men in our family say Die Hard is a Christmas movie too.

Rebecca - I just love how you and your family uses technology. I can’t seem to get anyone in my family to use it for connecting that way.
I remember my Mom & grandmother being frustrated when something in a store changed. I get it now. Just like I get why they were always fussing about “what to make for supper”.
You have inspired me. I have asked my girls what their favourite Christmas shape is. I am going to make a jewelry picture like yours for them. I am going to use my grandmother’s wedding dress as the background. They were married in February 13, 1941 in Kingston, ON while Grampie was in boot camp to go overseas for WWII, her dress is a deep dark green velvet. I’ll have to see if I can find their wedding picture to share with you ladies.

Terri - sorry for the sudden loss of your friend.
I agree we need to make as many memories as possible with our loved ones.

Ginny - I hope you find relief soon. What a sweet granddaughter you have there.

Barbara - I made sugar cookies. My grandmother had never written her recipe down that we could find. Years ago, close to 30 now, I decided I would try to make them. I would make a batch, have cousins taste test get feedback and try again. Her secret ingredient was nutmeg.
I have to say though, I am not a baker, it is not something I find enjoyable and relaxing. My eldest daughter has been making the cookies since she was a teenager. She couldn’t this year, so I’m quite proud of my accomplishment. I am taking some to one of my cousin’s granddaughter’s today, her Mom and Grandfather were some of my taste testers. Her Mom and I were the same age and she passed suddenly when we were 51. Her Grandfather was my Dad’s age. That side of my family is huge.
By the way - your roast and potatoes sounds so much better to me than the turkey we had. I think my family would disown me if I didn’t make a turkey. Apparently my son in law was going to make a ham too, I was excited when I found out, but he had forgotten he had mentioned it to my daughter and didn’t do it. 😂

Kylia - Love the pictures! I think I’ll take Christmas down on New Years Day. I like keeping them up a bit longer so I have the pretty lights in dark and gloomy January.
I usually only buy wants for Christmas and birthdays. Like you, I grew up with Christmas being about needs and a couple wants from Grandparents. DH really only wanted us to buy wants over the years, he dislikes if I buy needs.

Rosemarie - I hope you got your tv stand together. I am hoping to redo my living room in January. I want to paint and buy a new sofa. DH is going to make a new shelf/storage system for me in the spring or summer.
I used to take the grands more often so the parents could have date nights. It seemed to have fell off during Covid I hope to pick it up again.

Allie - I personally haven’t used Ozempic, but I know a couple who have with great success. It’s very hard on the stomach at first, though apparently it settles after a few months. I would definitely make sure all of your medical team was aware though, you have a lot of health problems that it may make worse.

    Carol - nice photos.

Rita - I have a sign in my kitchen that says “not my cows, not my pasture, not my bull$hit”.
    I love the sentiment.

Sue - I miss the days of no electronics in appliances. They don’t last very long because of them.
    Your Christmas sounds so peaceful.

Vicki - I hope you are able to fix what’s off swiftly. I hate having that feeling.

Heather - I like to decorate earlier and leave it up until usually New Year’s Day. I enjoy the lights so much. I would leave it up longer but DH would start complaining.
    Great news on your pension!
I feel so bad for your friend G. What a bout she has had with this. Hopefully they can get her some relief soon.

Lanette - I think it’s smart to save for later too. I get DH to do that.

Lisa - your sunroom is coming right along. It’s going to be great.
I too got rid of all but tax documents. I have everything I need scanned and all bills are electronic now.
I’m glad you enjoyed the little cartoon.

I did almost nothing today. I went to Michael’s because the item I wanted for Christmas was on sale 50% off, they didn’t have one in stock when DH did his shopping so bought me a GC. Since he was so generous and not aware of the sale, o bought another item also 50% off and I have 25.00 left. I then went to Walmart to exchange the pj’s he bought me, when I went to put them on last night someone had switched the pant size to 2XL instead of XL. I can get away with L on the bottom, but the boobage makes me need XL. I knew I would never be comfortable in a 2XL. Turns out they didn’t have any in stock so gave me a refund. I found another pair that were now on clearance for $8 so bought a wallet too.
I went to put the set I bought on tonight and the top is a crop top. I told DH I’m keeping it because I really like the bottom, I may make myself a shirt to go with it though.

Tomorrow I am going to pick eldest daughter up and go to exchange the book she bought me for Christmas then I have to go for a mammogram.

I guess I should head to bed. I have done not much of anything today and I’m still tired.

    Tracey in Edmonton

Lol I don't really give them a choice. Its like I say "when can we video chat, I miss you". There isn't any IF in it. 😁😂. We do have a Family group message chat tab. So that's how we get everyone together.💖

There's nothing wrong with the minister doing it. You could just write up the highlights of her life and have him read it. I believe we did that with both my sister and my mother, then we had a time of sharing, and that's when family members got up to talk about detailed memories.

Thinking of you every day. It was nice of you to go to church with your dad and help him with the service.

    Take care.

Debbie- gee your between a rock and a hard place.. I know you DH is about to go off the deep end,and needs help, here is hoping he gets it and toot sweet .
Rosemarie- my Ex has a Chevy Volt and he loves it,though he had to wait quite a few weeks in florida during the GM strike to get the water pump replaced.
He has a charger in the basment ,he has or we had a house built 63 yrs ago 1960 and it is a ranch with a 1 car garage .we have a friend who is a master electrician, who put in a charger in the garage so when he used to get home from work he would charge it and it would be fully charged before he went to bed,so he would unplug it overnight.he also has a charger in Florida.
You can get tax insentives on them also.
    I must be getting old,
I would really like to see my friends ,Sue and Bob,her brother Mike is playing at a restaurant/bar ,remember the one I told you about a few months back?
I didn't want the hassle and the crowds and the noise. Id much rather be home.
    So here I am.

Worked then soup kitchen. Home to make an apple crumble for Sunday (I’ll just keep it in the fridge.

Will go into work late tomorrow. They say that the delivery is usually around 11, so I figure starting 11:30 I’ll keep texting the manager to see if it came yet. I do have to lector so I would need to leave by 3:30 so I can change. One time before they didn’t order enough and the manager asked me if I could come at 11. That time I said “the soup kitchen starts serving at 11:30” which is true. But also a part of me felt “failure to prepare on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part”. But this time the truck is coming later because of the holiday. They don’t have control over that. Well...they could have ordered extra knowing that there wouldn’t be enough for me for Sat. Next year I’ll remind them to order extra.

M - Where I work, it's about teamwork ... not about winners and losers. We all play an important part. I’m talking children, not adults
We're all vital little pieces of the puzzle. That’s how it is in every company

In many places of employment, if you're someone who shows up regularly and participates, you're an ideal employee! But the boss still expects the work done.

One of the things that really appealed to me about randonneuring/audax (the type of cycling I've been involved in since 2001) is that everyone who finishes the event within the time limit is a winner ... not just the fastest. The challenge is within yourself and with things like your own equipment, the environment, the terrain, etc. ... not against other people. It means that other people can be supportive and encouraging.  I’m talking work not leisure

Tracey – I agree with you in that children should learn that the world doesn’t revolve around them. Unfortunately, not all children learn this. Don’t get me wrong, I certainly appreciate the fact that Colby gave me something he thought I’d like. I just don’t know when I’d ever use it. I also think your grandmother would approve of your decision about her dress. It IS lovely, but your proposed use of it sounds like the best way to go. It’s unfortunate no one can fit into it, but these things happen

Barbara – fosamax is also a biphosonate drug with the possibility of osteonecrosis of the jaw. Hmmmmm….. I agree that we all need to do for ourselves what we are comfortable with. Tooth YEAR….lol

Flea – believe it or not, I’ve never heard of xgeva. My injection is once every 6 months. I know reclast is an infusion once/year

    Annie – thinking of you

Hey, just thought of something...going into BK later means that I’ll be able to exercise and take my walk. YEEEAAAAA

Rosemarie – funny, we were just talking about hybrids (I don’t own one) and the fact that when we drive to FL, we wouldn’t have to wait hours and hours while the car recharges. It seems a lot of people are finding hybrids a good alternative to an all electric vehicle

Allie – proof that God made puddles for one reason – to be jumped in.
