I'm actually moving the silicone brownie pan to the utility room to join the cake tins.

It's starting to get warmer here (30 instead of 6 F). Our heat is all powered by electricity (furnace and heat pump) because there is no natural gas where we live. We have an electric space heater in the bathroom (rated for bathroom use) that I use o make it extra warm for my shower. My idea of great luxury is being able to turn the thermostat up one degree when I am feeling especially chilly. I also wear many layers of clothing in the house including wool socks and a wool hat.
I continue to be grateful for my Yak Trax that have allowed me to go on my morning and evening walks.
Michele, One of the reasons I like walking in the dark early in the morning and in the evening is that no one else is out and it doesn't matter how weird and frumpy I look. Comfort is much more important to me than style.

Good morning! ... It continues to snow in Western New York. Received a 6:00am emergency call that there was another State of Emergency and travel ban. (Hate those early calls ... I thought something had happened to my mom.) My town received an additional 2 feet of snow overnight (although I'm on the southern end of the town and didn't get nearly that much). The band of snow that produced that has shifted directly over the City of Buffalo. Later this evening, the band of snow is to shift back into my town. This is what happens when we have warm weather and Lake Erie does not freeze! Lake Effect Snow!
Allie ... glad Miles is home and doing well. Poor little guy ...
Today I'll do more cleaning and de-cluttering. I've also started a shredding project. We have boxes and boxes of old documents dating back from 1976 that have to go. I was going to take them somewhere to be shredded but we have so much it was going to cost a small fortune. So I'm shredding each day. This summer I'll burn what's left in our fire pit outside (and there will still be a lot!)

Good Morning Friends...Because I was well prepared and knew what I wanted. With the help of our son we were in and out in an hour. The person I worked with was an organized get to the point person just what I needed and wanted for this piece.
If you go to Wulff funeral home of Woodbury they will have the particulars of the service. The info is public, but I did talk about a site like this and she did suggest to send you to their site. There is a Zoom option for the service.
Today is repair the house day. Getting a new kitchen faucet and new shut off valves to the home. One wants to be sure in an emergency you can shut off your water. Gives me a chance to watch someone else work and catch up on other things I have to do. Like going through pictures. I have a friend who is going to make the video.
This is a sub Zero jammy day. I plan to stay in a thick heavy robe today!

The new heater are much safer. Just be sure it is the only thing you have on that outlet and if possible a plug attached to a circuit board that will trip.3

Miles— OUCH! Poor thing, but better to get it over with while he’s little and not have to deal with it later in life.
And today is: Officially ditch your New Years Resolutions, while drinking a Hot Buttered Rum and watching children invent things with donuts.

HI! Can I join? I am on my first weight loss journey after gaining 30lbs in the past couple of years, post menopausal...I have lost about 4 lbs, 7lbs if you count from my highest. Sarah7
-
Welcome, Sarah. Hop right in whenever you feel it.
Barbie-I listened to the series about how Cascateli came to be, but it is just far too pricey for me, especially when I can make fresh Spaetzle in about 10 minutes. One day, I’ll splurge if I actually see it in the store.
I don't have a lot going on right now. I am trying to stay in to limit temptations to ruin any weight loss progress...however, this morning I was up .2 lb. over last week. *sigh* Obviously, it's not working. I'm kind of out of ideas. I have been throwing everything at it since before the new year started and I haven't lost anything at all.
One big improvement, however, is my sleep. I'm currently trying to figure out how to make some tasty, low calorie mocktails to help with water fatigue. Just drinking water after 10ish AM is really dull and I think unhelpful for snack avoidance.
Our health insurance is changing soon, so I'm currently cramming in doc appointments and getting prescriptions refilled. I doubt the new plan will be nearly as good as the current one.
I was going to send you all some sunshine, but it's very overcast and cool today. Maybe the sun will make an appearance this afternoon.

I was going to do some HIIT today, but I got to the gym late and the spinning class was out. Since I won’t get to use that room much, I decided to take advantage of it today. Then just swam some laps since I had to go to the orthopedist
Do you know what the “callous” on the bottom of my foot was? Believe it or not, it’s caused by a tight calf. He gave me the regular exercises to stretch the calf and said that it’ll go away on its own never to come back. Seems a tight calf puts pressure on the spot where the “callous” was. I was wearing this orthotic and showed it to him since there’s a piece attached on the bottom. He said that that’s making it worse and that I had to have the place where I got it take it off. Why he couldn’t do it is beyond me, but I’ll take it back to the place. In the meantime, I’m just not wearing the orthotics
After the orthopedist, took Jess’ cat to the vet, came home and baked 2 loaves of sourdough now have a third one rising. Maybe after we get back from bowling tonight I’ll bake it
Sarah - welcome
Well, off to my walk

Have you tried adding a slice of orange, lemon, pineapple, lime or ginger to your water?
I don't like plain water but during the summer I do like to add a slice of fruit. Winter time I drink plain tea- regular until a little after noon then decaf or herbal until bedtime- Have a cup with me all the time.

Well I had lots of leftover chicken wings without breading or sauce so I boiled them and removed the skin and bones. I added matchstick carrots, so now I have soup!
Plus I have leftover lasagna to serve tonight. My dad and I will eat it but my sister doesn't eat dairy. There's a bowl of leftover chicken with corn and black beans that she can have.
Then I have a couple pounds of leftover potatoes. But they don't bother me so much. Too much starch.
Next week I have to go back to my usual low calorie.

Evening ladies
Busy day today..found out from Tracy poor little guy had a hernia thats why it hadn't dropped, all set..but how do you keep a 2 yr old settled down.. you don't..he is a wild child..7 -
Today’s gratitude: Joe home safe after hydroplaning on 101.
Yesterday’s gratitude: Coos Curry line workers, ODOT road clearing crews.
Wimped out on going to town for line dancing after Joe reported rough travel conditions, overflowing gutters, big pools of water on the roads. Grateful it’s not like Beth’s snow, but still taking a pajama day.
Pip smooch that pooch!
Margaret you model for us how crucial it is to educate ourselves before the fact, and how important it is to have a second person along. ((hugs))
Tracey you’re right about continuing to “do” delaying healing. Overdid yesterday so doing nothing today. But then I get bored/frustrated and try to “do” again. SMH.
Welcome @samisnana2001 Mary in maritimer in AB !
Heather “…sings between bites” what a testament to your cooking. Whatever is in Johnny’s magic potion?
Michele hope you called the DDS and told him the swelling continues. Doesn’t sound right. ((hugs)) Think the orange slices Lisa freezes are the jelly candy ones. I do have some frozen grapes in the freezer but somehow my fingers always reach for the fudge . . .
Lisa you’re right. Should have listened to Beth and Michele who said you can eat frozen fudge while its frozen. Have some wine jelly candies I’ll try freezing instead… trying to shop the pantry instead of the stores
Vicki waiting ‘til Feb 18 for monitor results would drive me crazy. ((hugs))
Kay brava for braving the weather to get your steps in!
Allie oww! Gentle hugs for sMiles.
Welcome @sarahealth17 Sarah! Congrats on taking off those pounds!1/16: Move: 1 set PT. Steps:Time’s up for sitting. Will march in place while watching a bone webinar, then feed the pooches.

Allie - I remembered what Miles was having surgery for, and wondered at the time you mentioned it how you're supposed to keep a little boy's hands out of that area long enough for it to heal. Still wondering, and not envying Tracy's job trying to keep him still in the slightest.
Barbara - Don't see why wine gums wouldn't work, or any kind of gummy or jelly candy. The freeze just makes them nice and chewy, and the sugar is quite satisfying. The point for me is that it slows me down, gives my brain/body time to say, "yes, I got something sweet," without eating lots more calories. I've never been able to satisfy a sweet craving with fruit, but that may be just me.
Long, long day... finished my Tunisian crochet afghan today (pic below). Fun to figure out something new... Haven't told my daughter, but will probably send it to her for her March birthday. She's made enough hints... Don't tell her, though!
Went to acupuncture, and then straight to the VA ophthalmologist. My eyes are still a little wobbly, after being poofed and dilated and flashed over and over and over again. However... now that I can get to a VA eye clinic (it just opened six months ago a half hour from me), they do all of this for me, plus I was able to get glasses ordered, as well.
They're shipping them straight to my house, and I can go back in to get them fitted, or I can go to Walmart with my VA card and they will adjust them for me for free. All told, the savings is well over $600 a year from the insurance I had to self-pay. Very pleased. The VA is really stepping up here, and while they do drive me crazy with the bureaucracy on occasion, they're trying to make it better.
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa

monie_is_getting_fit you are studying to be a teacher? That is wonderful. My niece is a Teacher’s assistant. She loves it. The stories she tells me are hilarious.
How much longer do you have?
Do you exercise at home? If so, what type do you like to do?
I hope everyone is safe from the winter weather.4 -
Michelle: Just wondering why Jess doesn't use the local vet where she lives as you have said she has trained to be a vet.
Allie: Glad to know Miles is healing.
Carol in GA4 -
Jake and I have both prepaid for cremation as well as registering for MEDCURE. There will be no agonizing decisions after one of us goes. We both prefer that there be no funeral or memorial or any special event. It's a good thing that we can agree on those plans and have them in place so no one has to make big decisions at a vulnerable time.
Allie, glad to hear that Miles is healing. What a challenge to keep an active child quiet. It reminds me of when Sasha, the poodle, was recovering from a broken leg and spay surgery and was supposed to stay quiet. We put her with her toys in a pen in the living room and she jumped over it and jumped onto the couch.

Debbie – In winter, I’m always drinking tea too, just plain, no sugar or anything. The only kind I won’t have is black tea. For some reason, black tea upsets my stomach. But anything else is fine.
Barbara – yes, I called the dentist who did the root canal and told him the swelling continued. He prescribed clyndamycin (antibiotic). I think this is working. The gum is still somewhat swollen, but not like before. I honestly think this is because he was rooting around inside the tooth and that as soon as I can get the permanent crown (which will probably be after we come back from FL since I have to see him to be sure the infection is all gone and then it takes 2 to 3 weeks for the permanent crown to come in) this will clear up
Lisa – lovely blanket. I’m sure your daughter will absolutely love it
Carol – good question why Jess doesn’t use a local vet. The only thing I can think of is that she feels comfortable (and shadow feels comfortable) with Dr. B. She has had some things done for Shadow at NCState, but I think she feels she wants a second opinion and she trusts Dr. B.
Just made another loaf of sourdough (I’ll freeze some) and have two more rising. I may bake them when I get home from work tomorrow. Can’t hurt to let them rise.
Michele NC4 -
Terri - A window scrape isn’t too bad.
Rosemarie - I did get it warmer than it was. I think I need to replace our thermostat. The furnace isn’t kicking in at the right temperature.
Lisa - it just have been the night for dreams. I can’t remember now what it was about but it was a disturbing dream.
Having a sense of peace is something to be thankful for. I know it has taken me a long time to feel it after that job. I still can feel it if I think about it.
What an interesting article.
I love your aphgan.
Allie - I bet in a day or so Miles will be his usual self. Was he able to get his hernia fixed as well?
Heather - I like the rack idea for the frying pans. I did manage to clean my “tool” cabinet out yesterday. It seems to be the place everywhere stashed.
Barbie - I absolutely agree about being able to turn the heater up.
I grew up in an extremely cold house and swore that no matter what I would never be cold in my own home again. I am so thankful I have been able to achieve this.
Well except the last few days. I will be looking at thermostats soon.
Margaret - I’ve been thinking about you. It is so helpful when the funeral directors are easy to deal with.
Tina - have you tried averaging your weight over a week/month? I did that when I was feeling nothing was changing and lo and behold, I was actually losing. It actually helped motivate me a lot.
Michele - that is what had started my plantar fasciitis issue. I’m happy for you that you got it looked at right away.
Barbara - Glad Joe is safe. I had a pyjama day today too.
My massage therapist told me she didn’t think she could be much help with my foot, but did try when I saw her on Monday. My foot is feeling noticeably better today. It’s still not 100% and I’m being careful about how much I’m on my feet, but I feel a bit better. I see the therapist she recommended on Tuesday hopefully I can get this straightened out soon.
I managed to get one bag of garbage out of the craftroom today. I also rearranged some things to make my craft supplies more convenient and like things together. I realized that it’s been 3 years since I really went through my cabinets in there, so it’s about time.
I’ve sent the message to the handyman that I have the money together and he can set up a time to do my wall. I hope he can do it next week, but I may have to dog sit TWO dogs. I’m really hoping that I don’t, but one is my Granddog and my son in law had to take an emergency trip to see his mom, she’s not ill, but needs his help. If Kaitlyn has to go as well I will keep their dog. Then my friend whose dog I watch needs me to watch him next week, I have not agreed to this yet. I hate when he has to go to a kennel though because he loses weight there. He doesn’t like new situations. So my soft heart may bite me in the *kitten*.
Well I should head to bed, ceramics starts tomorrow night and I have to finish a project for school after class tomorrow and I also have my practicum orientation tomorrow. That will be here before I know it. It will feel so strange being out of the house everyday again.
Oh my daughter’s friend posted her challenge to match donations. So far it’s costing them $535!
Good night ladies

Hugs to Margaret. So glad your burden is lessened by your good advanced planning.
Annie: Think of you daily. Stay strong, girl.
Tina: Where in CA are you? I am going to L.A. on Sunday and will take a slow, multi-day drive to San Diego. beginning on Thurs 1/25. PM me if you are interested in meeting up.
Thanks for the birthday greetings. Sadly, all the lunches, skating and other fun stuff planned were all cancelled due to the bitter cold temps and messy road conditions. I did enjoy 2 solid duvet days. My gentleman friend gifted me a hard copy of Barbra Streisand's biography, so now I have the benefit of re-reading certain passages and looking at all the photos, which is never an option with audiobooks.
The gym I use is part of the condo community's amenities. It is a block away, and although not as well maintained as I would like, it is spacious and well appointed. My issue is boredom. Sometimes I just can't face the same ol' same ol' machines. Then I remember Pip's boot! LOL.
Stay well, friends. We can do this.

We have scheduled a painting session for this afternoon. I hope to finish my acrylic, but I have no idea what I am doing! Hoping for inspiration when I sit down.
We also scheduled a cuddle session (!) for tomorrow afternoon. Haven't done that before. We used to be morning people, but age is not our friend with all our morning aches and pains, so I took a suggestion from some s e x therapists I follow, and asked it he wanted to schedule a 'together 'session for the afternoon. He was delighted, and said he had been thinking of talking to me about it. It doesn't even matter if we don't get the fireworks, as long as we have a cuddle. It's too easy to let it slide, especially if you have physical problems. Just closeness is good.
So, an experiment. I'm glad I took the initiative and suggested it. Embarrassment gets in the way.

Acrylic paint is thicker than watercolour paint ... yes?
Think of it sculpturally.
