This morning, I did a very slow run/walk with a friend who is getting back to running after pulling both of her hamstrings in a fall while we were running a few weeks ago. The temp was 45F but there was a strong breeze which kept the air pretty cool.
Hope you are feeling better today @Mari33a.
Have a great trip to Austin @Scott6255 and try not to embarrass your son – just kidding, I’m sure the gf’s parents will love you!

Hope you have a nice trip and golfing fun @Scott6255 !
@tarun_yadavA I am always very confused about car rentals in the states and which of my 3 driver’s licenses (VA, Ger, or Intl) I should be using and what consequences there could be if I make the “wrong” choice.
I needed to get a long run in this week, so I went for an “easy” paced HM. It was really nice and I felt quite good the whole way, even though the second half was against the wind. I ran 22km.
219.4/250km for March.

Logging 2 again. The weather has been really beautiful the last couple of mornings!
Yesterday, I did a bit of a tempo run, not quite at race pace but faster than I've been running recently. It was nice to go a little bit faster and stretch the lungs and legs a little bit.
Today was recovery miles in the dark before work. The New Year's resolution runners seem to be dropping off. I'm back to seeing very few people when I do these morning runs.9 -

I didn't get a chance to post my run yesterday. There's been a lot of stress at work lately. I ran 6 miles yesterday. It was cool again at around 40°F, but not windy and it was a nice run. It was chilly again this morning around 43°F. It was good running weather and I enjoyed both runs. I didn't sleep well last night, and I was pretty tired this morning, but I had a great run. I ran the same 6 miles as yesterday, but 5 minutes faster. I guess still being kind of pissed off helped me run faster.
Yesterday's run got me to 129/130 miles and today put me over my goal. I'll probably have at least one more run on Sunday. Tomorrow I'm planning a rest day and Saturday as well. My son is coming in for Easter, but my daughter is not, but we'll be getting together with our extended family. I'm looking forward to the weekend. I hope everyone who celebrates has a great one.
10 -
@Teresa502 I'm glad your friend is healed enough to try running again. You did great. I thought it was really chilly all day today.
Excellent running @Laurz9191 . I can't imagine feeling good for an entire HM. Maybe one day........ You inspire me.
Nice running @martaindale . I'm surprised the new years resolution folks lasted this long.
Hope you have a great Easter weekend @kgirlhart ! Enjoy the family. Great run today - 5 min faster is a lot. You must be really mad.
I was supposed to meet someone to hit some tennis balls around this evening, so I did a 2 mile treadmill walk in the early afternoon. Of course, about 30 min after I finished the walk and was heating up an early dinner, she texted and cancelled. This wasn't completely unexpected, as she does tend to be kind of unreliable.
59.10/85.00 mile goal

Got 1.9 miles in yesterday and finished my “yesterday” run this morning with 2.1 miles.
Explanation in spoiler:My training plan had 4 miles scheduled for yesterday. I went to a neighborhood that my husband and I have been walking/jogging/running/biking in for about 18 years now. We’ve always parked in the same spot, along a wooded area between two houses so as not to park in front of anybody’s yard and to try to keep the vehicle more or less off the road to give drivers room to drive. Yesterday afternoon I drove there, parked as usual, and started what I was hoping would be some interval training for a total of 4 miles as per plan.
At the 1.9 mile mark I was about to pass by my car when a man stopped me and asked me if that was my car. I said yes and he proceeded to threaten me for parking on his property. I told him we’ve been doing this for 18 years and no one has ever told us we couldn’t park there. He said he’s lived there for 10 years and never saw a car there and believed I was lying. I apologized and told him I’d move my car to the street away from his property. He said if I did park on the street he’d call the police on me. He told me that since I didn’t live in that neighborhood then I couldn’t be there. I told him I’m a mother of 9 and a grandmother of 16 and probably one of the kindest, nicest people he’d ever meet, so why should he call the police on me. His wife came out and she was a bit nicer. She gave me a suggestion of an area where I could park that was considered community property and that parking there was allowed.
I was so upset I couldn’t continue to train.
I decided to drive to our local sheriff’s office and asked to speak to a policeman to get clarification on my rights. He said that neighborhood has state maintained streets and totally have a right to park there and walk/run, whatever in those streets. I explained to him about the man and his threats to call the police, so I just wanted to know if I could continue to go to that neighborhood. Policeman said yes, I was fine to do so.
Anyhow, needless to say by then it was dinner time and I didn’t have the motivation to finish my miles. I did drive back to that neighborhood again on my way back home to find the community area where I could park and asked another couple who was walking in the neighborhood to point out the area where it was fine for me to park so that I know for the next time I decide to go back there.
We live in a somewhat rural area and this neighborhood is large and has always seemed like a safe, neighborly place for us to train. All the other neighbors I’ve come across walking or walking their dogs have always been very friendly. I simply never expected that someone would ever think I of all people would be a threat to them.8 -

Feeling a good bit better but still not 100%. The exercise definitely helps as I was feeling lethargic before and after tired but buzzing.7 -
Parkrun this morning. Managed to miss the start (they started early), spent the whole time playing catch up, recorded a nice fast time but my official time was just over a minute slower.9
-
You did great with your running @daria0919 . I'm glad you got things straightened out with the neighborhood. That is so weird that he would all of a sudden be so aggressive toward you.
Nice running @Mari33a . I hope you continue to feel better every day!
Who cares about an official time? You know you were a speed demon @ContraryMaryMary . Was there an explanation as to why they started early? That wasn't very nice.
Where is everyone today? Seems pretty quite on here. I hope you're all having fun!
I did a treadmill wun this morning of 2.10 miles. Later today, I did a little over 2.5 hours of bush hogging with the DR Field and Brush mower. I'm hoping to finish that job tomorrow.
I had miscalculated my mileage. One of my days was recorded twice on Run The Year Tracker and it threw me off. The corrected numbers are:
58.95/85 mile goal
I'm aiming for 65 miles as a modified goal, but not sure that will happen either. We shall see. On the bright side, I have reached 200 miles of fast walking and running for the year!7 -
1 mile lunch walk just because it was so very nice out.

There was literally a minute in it. Hardly early - I was cutting it awfully fine 😬3 -
Hey @quilteryoyo I'm in Iowa on my way to to Georgia, stopping for a snack. I'll be spending the night in Coralville IA. Looks like when I start driving again I'll be driving through a thunderstorm. The lightning sure is pretty. Love me a good thunderstorm!6
-
What luck, there's a trail less than a quarter mile away from my motel. I know what I'm doing tomorrow morning.8
-
Good morning everyone!
I just finished an 11.6km run. It is quite warm outside and was the first time this year where I wished I had worn shorts .
@daria0919 I’m sorry to hear about those people giving you such a hard time about parking to go on a run. I have had several similar experiences with parking or just moving around outside while visiting California and Long Island, New York and each time I’m just kind of shocked that some people think they own public spaces and can tell others where they can and can’t breathe. I hope you can still enjoy runs there and that they don’t give you any more trouble.
I wasn’t feeling up for a run yesterday and took a rest day, so I won’t make my monthly goal by like 8 km or so (if I run as planned tomorrow). But considering I didn’t run for a week due to whatever was messed up in my calf, it has still be a successful month.
231/250km for March.6 -
FInished up my 100 miles yesterday with a 5K. It is starting to get warmer and more humid again. I think yesterday's run should be call the mail man one as when I was starting out I noticed a whole PILE of mail in the curb about 100 yds down the street from my house. I keep going but the entire run I was thinking about that stupid stack of mail. On my way back I paused my watch and collected it. It was all from a set of apts several miles away. 🙃 I think a carton must have tipped over or fallen out of the mail truck. It was not just flyers but also real mail so I guess it also could have been stolen mail fro the apt building then discarded but I think really it fell out. I put the stack in front of my mail box bank with a note to the mailman to pick up (you never know right?) and a rock to keep it from blowing around again. What is strange is that the mail route goes past my house down the block and around the corner and then back up the block so he should have seen it on his way back up the street. Happy Easter Weekend everyone!8
-
No run for me yesterday and not planning to run today. My son is in for Easter. Yesterday was horrible at work. We had someone quit, so we are scrambling to figure out how she dud her job so we can get all the month end stuff done and be able to train someone new. It has been an extremely stressful week, but I am trying to just relax and enjoy the weekend with my family.
@daria0919 I can't believe that man was so hateful to you. I can see being annoyed if someone keeps parking in front of your house, or is blocking your drive. I'm glad you talked to the police yourself and clarified your rights. I'm sorry that happened to you.
@mari33a Glad you are feeling better. Hope you are 100% soon.
Great job catching up @ContraryMaryMary
@quilteryoyo Great job on staying so active. All that mowing is crazy. This year the grass seems to be bothering my allergies more than anything.
@laurz9191 Way to listen to your body.
@summerskier I can't believe the mail carrier didn't notice that.
4 -
@ContraryMaryMary . Sometimes cutting it close works and sometimes it doesn't.
@7lenny7 I don't mind thunderstorms, but I do dislike driving on the interstate if it is a torrential downpour and all you can see is the white line, barely. Be careful and safe. I'd hate for you to have a wreck and get your car searched. Hope you enjoyed your run this morning.
@Laurz9191 I would call that a very successful month!
Great running @SummerSkier . I'm glad you were able to get the mail and I hope the mailman picks it up. It would be bad if there was something important in there. I'm sure the mailman wasn't paying attention to the other side of the road. He was probably focused on the mail he was delivering. You know. Tunnel vision.
Thanks @kgirlhart Sorry work was so stressful. Why do people think they can just up and quit without a 2 week notice? It happens at daycare all the time - leave for lunch and not come back. It makes it so hard on everyone else to try to figure out how to get things done. Try to forget about it over the weekend and just enjoy time with your family!1 -
@daria0919 sorry you had to deal with such a *kitten*. I can certainly understand how that would throw you off your run. Hopefully he was just having a bad day and isn't always like that. I love that you went to the sheriff to clarify your rights!
@quilteryoyo thankfully I made it to my motel before the storm hit.
I had a wonderful 5 mile run this morning on what turned out to be a mountain bike trail with no bikes. No elevation to speak of but plenty of annoying rollers. 45F and sunny...a beautiful morning. I made it back just in time for the included breakfast.6 -
-
Thanks for getting us set up @AlphaHowls.
I went out to the hill country this weekend. Couldn't be bothered with running this morning but got some weeding done. And a lot of cooking. Planning on a run tomorrow though.8 -
@7lenny7 Glad you made it before the storm. That looks like a pretty place to run. What do you mean by "rollers?" That breakfast looks good too. I'm never eat quite that healthy when I have the free hotel breakfast.
Thanks for setting up April @AlphaHowls !
Enjoy your weekend in the hill country @martaindale.
This morning I did a 2.25 mile wun on the treadmill. Avg pace was 14:03 min/mile. Avg HR was 117 with a max of 133 bpm. This afternoon, I finished bush hogging the big hill I've been working on. Unfortunately, a spring on the DR broke before I was able to do a little separate section that I had intended to mow. But, fortunately, that allowed me time to stroll through the neighbor's field and my woods looking for Spring flowers. My trout lilies are blooming, so I was glad I went today. Flower pictures (and the hill I "mowed" are in the spoiler if you are interested.
Hill I bush hogged.
Creeping phlox
Violet or Johnny Jump Up as we always called them.
Redbud tree
Periwinkle
Trout Lily
Spring Beauty
61.20/85.00 mile goal6 -
@quilteryoyo imagine several speed bumps in a row on the trail. Fun on a bike, annoying on a run.
Your landscaping work is impressive and the flowers are beautiful!3 -
Thanks @7lenny7 . I can see how that out be annoying.1
-
Thanks for setting up April @AlphaHowls
I would get a robot mower for that hill @quilteryoyo , loving that spring has sprung with you.
Offspring no 1 home on Sunday so swapped my long run day and went past my March mileage target. Things didn't go as planned. Went for 20 miles, got a tight calf at miles 15 and couldn't shake it. Thought about @Laurz9191 and called it there and then. Still had a 5 mile walk afterwards. Lovely day for it though.9 -
@TheMrWobbly Sorry you had a niggle that made you cut your run short too, but glad you listened to your body. You got the distance in anyway, since you had to walk home. Great place for a run.3

Happy Easter.
Down to the lakefront park early this morning there was a group of about 20 waiting for the sunrise for a sunrise service this Easter. I'm pretty sure that is what they were doing. But the sun was clouded out.

Hi everyone! I just got back from an Easter run in the sun. It finally is fully warm here. First day of the year with just shorts and a t-shirt on. It felt a bit strange but nice . I ran 10.2km.
My final March total is 241.2km/250km.8 -

March... Riiiiighttttt...
Due a rest day (or two!) imminently... and I go on foreign trip #1 towards the end of the month so will lose a couple of days flying and on travels.
With that in mind, gonna go for 130 Miles again.
Hi everyone!
Hello from Atlanta.ran 4.44 (at 10"00)
Made it to 157M for the month. So smashed target. Just the one day I didn't run.
Horrendous 12 1/2 hour drive yesterday. Made it to the game. Missed most of the first quarter not too bad.
Been A LOT of indulging so far.
