I'm glad the new shoes seem to be working out @Teresa502 . Thanks for the shoe porn. I agree with you that the shoe manufacturers need to offer more colors in the larger shoe sizes and wide width. Just because we have big feet doesn't mean we don't want to look good or have choices.
Nice run @Laurz9191 . I hope you managed to miss most of your slug friends. Someone posted some signs from HWY 225, North of Elko, NV on Facebook that made me think of this/you. They are in the spoiler. Don't look if you don't like insects!
@Scott6255 Good luck with running outside tomorrow. I hope it goes well.
Glad you got in a nice run today @Mari33a . Good luck to your brother tomorrow. It sounds like he's a pretty hard core biker and I imagine will find it hard not to take it too serious.5 -
Nice run @henridw2095 .

I went to the gym this morning before heading into work at the daycare. It was one of those days...even though it wasn't a full moon.
I was NOT in the mood to run when I got home. All I wanted to do was give up and sit on the couch. But, I decided to go down and do a quick treadmill walk before eating dinner so that once I sat down, I wouldn't have to get up again to exercise. Well, that all went to pot when I went down the stairs and noticed water running under my piano. Odd, since it wasn't an overflowing AC pump and there is no other plumbing in the area. Upon investigation, it was a leak from the water line/lines under the basement bathroom sink. I shut the cut off valves and then proceeded to take the carpet runners that were soaked outside to dry and mopped water for about 30 min.
Then, I did do a treadmill walk, but begrudgingly.9 -
August Goal: 130 Miles
8/1: 3.53 miles
8/2: 6.05 miles
8/4: 13.16 miles
8/5: 3.13 miles
8/6: 6.02 miles
8/7: 6.05 miles
8/8: 3.55 miles
8/9: 6.02 miles
47.51/130 miles completed for August
It was 83°F this morning. I ran some hill repeats today. I 'm not sure my hill was long enough, but I tried. Hal said I overdid it. It was supposed to be about 4.5 miles in 1 hr 3 minutes. Pace was supposed to be 14:01 mi/min. I ran 6 miles in 1 hr 11 minutes with a pace of 11:53 mi/min. I'm not really sure why the warm up and cool down parts of the workout are supposed to be so slow. I don't think I am a very fast runner, but so far on this plan I have run all of my runs too fast.
@amunahski I listen to music while running. I use the Aftershoz bone conducting headphones so my ears are open and I can hear what is going on around me.

Afternoon all
Got in 9.0M at 09"22.
@Teresa502 emailed you! It bounced back a couple of times... So had to resend a couple of times... Check your spam/junk just in case!
Headphones debate - nah not really.
I like to hear myself breathe (pant!), and as @ContraryMaryMary said... Need to hear sounds of cars, bikes etc. electric cars are big here and they're a lot quieter too. Doubly so after one my neighbours, old dude, got hit by a cyclist. Knocked over. Was in ICU.
That said... If and when I get severe earworm. I will.
I busted out a spur of the moment Half (I wanna say March?) and did it in like 1h54 or something. Watched the God awful 'Roadhouse' remake on Amazon prime night before. But it had that Metallica 'Enter Sandman' song as a fight sequence. Fell back in love with that song after a gap of God knows how many years... So got that as an earworm(apologies @mari33a - do love Conor McGregor but he is a terrible terrible actor and deserves a Supporting Actor raspberry for that!).
Listened to it about 20 times in a loop whilst running and got pumped up7 -
4.3 yesterday so 44 for the month and 903 for the year now. When I want to run faster I put on my music wth a faster cadence. (I am so excited is one of my faves!) 180 bpm really works. My watch and one earpod. I am like Scott and do not like running without music. Even when I am going slower I like how it regulates my cadence.6
-
@quilteryoyo sorry about your flooding basement. I am impressed you still went ahead with your workout. I would have been too depressed to do that.
6.6 miles this morning. I thought my training plan said 5 min WU, 50 min Easy, 5 min CD. But after the 50 min I heard it say 20 min @9:25 pace. Ugh I thought I should not do too much for my 1st run outside in 2 weeks, so I stopped after about 8 minutes into that interval. Anyway, my shins didn't hurt at all, so I'm considering that a successful run 😁
6 -
Nice running @kgirlhart . Is there another plan you could use that has you running more at the pace you like?
Nice run @tarun_yadavA . Sorry to hear about your neighbor. You would think that a cyclist would pay more attention.
Great mileage for the year @SummerSkier !
Thanks @Scott6255 . I seriously considered not doing the workout! I'm glad your run outside went well and you didn't have any issues with your shin.4 -
@quilteryoyo bummer about the leak! Glad you fixed it3

Fastest 5k in a year! @quilteryoyo I'm not training for anything in particular. I just like to have a kind of structured programme.6 -
Thanks @tarun_yadavA . I didn't exactly fix the leak, but I did stop it until I can figure out if I can actually fix it myself or not. LOL
Congrats on your fast 5K @yirara ! Sometimes I find I like structure and sometimes I don't. Glad you have found a programme you like.2 -

I mowed the rest of the lawn that I didn't get done on Wednesday and bush hogged the hill next to my shop again. It was hard to believe how big a couple of the trees were since I just cleaned it off in the Spring.
After a rest, I did a driveway walk. When I played tennis Thursday night, I stepped wrong and must have twisted my ankle a little. It doesn't hurt, but I did notice that it was a little bit swollen last night, so I didn't want to run today. I'll give it a rest from the pounding of running for a couple of days and then see how it does.6 -
With my husband still away, it was no run for me yesterday. Instead, I channeled my inner @quilteryoyo and pruned all the trees along my driveway, got out the line trimmer to tidy the edges of the driveway, mowed the lawn, which in itself is a 2km walk, and then mowed the back lawn on the zero turn. And then I tidied the veggie garden in anticipation of planting new spring vegetables in the next few weeks. It was a pretty full day. Was shattered by the end of it but now I’m working up the energy to go outside and spray - fungicide and weed killer required.
My husband is currently on a aeroplane home and I’m looking forward to not being a solo parent anymore.9 -

It's fun, but takes a couple of season to really rid all weeds.
Best done in late winter, early spring when weeds are small and germinating.4 -

Woke up early today to meet co-worker for our 6-mile walk/run. Unfortunately, he was sick this week. But, he still wanted to persevere this morning. We met up and started out. After a little over 2 miles, he was struggling with congestion. I told him to listen to his body and we can call it a day. Nope, he wanted to at least continue with a walk instead. So, that's what we did. We accomplished 5.8 miles. Not bad for a Saturday morning. Tomorrow, I'm going out solo tomorrow to get my 6 run/walk miles. Now, I'm going to go rest with my fur babies.
Everyone, have a wonderful evening. Remember, to listen to your body and take care of yourself.6 -
Morning all
Got in 9 miles again. 09"32 pace.
Hot here in London today !
Have a lovely Sunday all
@ContraryMaryMary are you THAT wife? Poor bloke steps one foot in the door and receives a verbal long list of every single itemised thing that was done in his absence singlehandedly 🤣3 -
@steviebee888 Nice that you stayed back with your friend and helped him get in the workout he wanted. Good luck with your solo wun this morning.
Nice running @tarun_yadavA . Hey, I say @ContraryMaryMary is much better than the wife that meets her husband at the door with a long list of the things that needs to be done.6 -

@AmunahSki I don’t use headphones when I run. I did when I first started. I needed all the distractions and motivation! After a while I stopped using headphones on shorter runs on the advice of @MobyCarp, a former poster here and fountain of knowledge, who advised using a run here and there to focus on your breathing and work on the mental part of running. After doing that for a bit I just naturally stopped using them altogether. I find my runs are more meditative now and I enjoy the quiet. My favorite is when it’s raining and you out there alone. All you can hear is the rain and the sounds of your own feet and breathing. Bonus points for the bump I get during races with all the cheering and pumping music.
@quilteryoyo That is rough day! I’m so impressed you still did your walk.
@ContraryMaryMary That absolutely sounds like an @quilteryoyo day. Yard work always makes me sore. It works muscles I don’t really use often.8
