@ContraryMaryMary That’s so scary for your friend! I’m so glad her tumor turned out to be benign. The grow out on that haircut will be rough. I see a lot of headbands in her future, but they did a good job hiding the scar in her hairline. Eventually you won’t even be able to tell it’s there.
Side note, I also don’t know how streakers do it. I don’t take a ton of rest days but I really appreciate them! I tried a streak once and bailed on it after about a month.6 -
Aug total: 38.7/113 miles

8/3: 8.1 miles
8/4: 2.8 miles
8/5: 3.9 miles

8/10: 8 miles
8/12: 3.3 miles

Realized I forgot to log my last run. I was a hot but uneventful short run before work.
Yesterday I went to Pilates and had the owner as my instructor. She does the hardest classes! I feel ok this morning but I expect I’ll be sore by this evening.
Yesterday was also the first day of school so the entire family is now up at 5:30. Gone are my peaceful mornings but I find it easier to get moving and out of the house when everyone is awake.6 -
@ContraryMaryMary sorry about your friend, but glad to hear they got it and she will eventually be better than ever.
Did 4 miles this morning. Not sure if it was the heat (feels like temp 88F) or the addition 10lbs I am carrying, but this 'Easy Run' felt very hard. Gonna have to do some work to get ready for the race in October.

@ContraryMaryMary That is a lot of staples. I hope your friend heals well and can join you on the run again soon. I also don't know how the streakers do it. I feel like I need my recovery days to let my body amp up for post-recovery-day(s) running fun. Also, recovery days can still be very active days, but are not as high impact on the joints.
Today my run actually went really well. I ran at my goal marathon pace for 8 miles. It was hard but doable and I actually had the most difficulty maintaining goal pace near the end, and kept speeding up. Maybe I was in a hurry to be done with it? Ideally this workout should help me ingrain running at marathon pace and gain a bit of confidence by training at that speed. I definitely think the latter was a success, but I will have to work more on that first part. I ran 17.1km.
The weather was humid and overcast with no visible sunshine coming through the thick layer of clouds. I was glad the sun remained hidden today .
123.1/270km for August.6 -
Great running @ContraryMaryMary . That bull doesn't look very friendly, but calves are always so cute. I'm glad your running friend found out what was going on and got it taken care of before it caused permanent damage. I hope and pray for a speedy recovery for her.
I hope your runs are getting easier for you @tarun_yadavA .
Nice running @martaindale . I hope you aren't too sore from the Pilates.
@Scott6255 Sorry your run was hard today. Hopefully it will be better tomorrow. It's hard when you have an injury and the heat to deal with in the summer. I have full confidence that you can get ready for your October race.
Wow. Great running @Laurz9191 !2 -
Trying to catch up on recent posts…
Thank you for the well wishes @ContraryMaryMary, @tarun_yadavA, @quilteryoyo, @Teresa502 and @Scott6255 and also to those of you who gave ((hugs)).
Good thing about COVID: I stayed off my feet and tendon is less sore. Fever and body aches and bad headache and digestive issues are gone. Left with congestion and a bit of a cough.
I took a 1.5 mile walk in the neighborhood this morning. Feeling the tendon, but not too bad. I think I’ll actually have to fish out my ankle brace from back in my Marathon and HM running days to get this ankle to heal. The gnats, mosquitoes and horseflies were out in full force this morning and I’m also the life of their party! 😩
@tarun_yadavA only 4 weeks for marathon training- sounds quite like you!! 😂 and also amazing! Also, thought about the Noah Lyle 200-meter run and went outside to try it myself in the height of my illness too!! (NOT!!)
@AlphaHowls i was too late to see Rhonda the Roundabout in action, but I agree with the others - crazy laps around Rhonda - sounds like a plan!! Need to set up a campaign for the Rhonda 500!
@ContraryMaryMary so glad your friends tumor removal was a success and hoping for a smooth, speedy recovery.
@Scott6255 sorry to hear the morning run was a bit rough. This heat and humidity is seriously annoying!4 -
Aug total: 45.8/113 miles
YTD: 608.3/1200 miles
8/3: 8.1 miles
8/4: 2.8 miles
8/5: 3.9 miles

8/9: 6.6 miles
8/10: 8 miles
8/12: 3.3 miles
8/13: 3 miles
8/15: 7.1 miles
Today was hard. Conditions were rough. As hot as this summer has been, August is always the hottest. We’ve had highs in the upper 90’s for a while and there is a batch of triple digit days coming. I have a shorter run planned tomorrow so I might stick to the treadmill.
Now that school has started back I hit 3 different school zones during my run, all elementary schools so they start at the same time. I have it timed so that I really only hit 1 of them at the peak of walker/biker/car drop off traffic but the traffic in general is heavier. It takes a bit of the relaxation out of my runs. By the end of the month the crossing guards will all know who I am. Some of them will stop traffic when they see me coming, and I appreciate that.
My kid is happy overall with their schedule. There was 1 class they really didn’t want and they dodged it. So far they seem to like their teachers. We’ll see what they think of today’s batch.7 -
checking in! Wow a lot of posts. I was going to run 6.6 today for my 66th (I am once more ahead of you @quilteryoyo ) but I missed it and did 7 instead. I started the month strong and am at 72 out of 100 goal. Would like to keep this up and make it one of my better months mileage wise. Last year I did a 200 mile month I think but this year more tennis. 😆 Your friend is SO lucky @AlphaHowls and I hope recovery is complete and just so amazing she wasn't have awful migraines too. @daria0919 glad that you are on the upswing with Covid and the injury! funny how things workout like that I guess. Not the way you would choose to be less active tho.
@scott6255 the 10 pounds will do it! That's one thing I am always concerned about with taking a long break from running.
It IS hot out and with the schools starting more traffic to deal with for sure.
today is Bday #66. I am taking the day off work so my team decided to celebrate at work yesterday. I had so much fanfare and such that I was about convinced yesterday WAS my bday. 😳🤣😆 but lots of fun. It will be quiet today and I am enjoying it. I know some bdays I feel stressed or mopey but today seems really just perfect.6 -

Another 5F5 day. We are starting to have cooler mornings here. This morning the temperature was a nice 62F.
Happy Birthday @SummerSkier!! Enjoy your day off!
@yirara – We love hearing about vacations! Are you going out of town? If so, are you planning on getting in running in while you are away? My favorite way to explore a new place is on foot. You have time to notice more and get off the beaten path.
@AlphaHowls – No more Rhonda cam? Disappointing!
Good luck with your inventory @kgirlhart – hope you get it all done and behind you today.
That’s an adorable father/son photo @ContraryMaryMary. I’m so glad your friend went to the optometrist and they recognized there was a big problem. Glad she is recovering well.
Glad you are feeling better @daria0919. Sounds like the tendon might need some rest a bit longer though.

@Teresa502 Yes, totally going away. Will be visiting one of the Canary Islands for 2.5 weeks. Hiking, looking at volcanoes, enjoying desert and good food, and just relaxing. Not sure I'll bring my running stuff yet. Will see.7 -

@WarmJellyfish I feel ur pain🙈. I did that last year, running down hill hurt for ages. I’m fairly sure it was broke & it still hasn’t returned to same size as other little toe. No pain tho now.
Hope it does get better! Hugs3 -
[quote="
Hope the toe is doing better @WarmJellyfish!
It is! Thank you. Something to be said about running it off2 -
@WarmJellyfish! Oh shoot. Little toe smashes hurt like heck! Hope it isn't broken.

@SummerSkier Happy Birthday!5 -
@daria0919 I'm glad you are feeling mostly better and got out for a nice walk this morning...well, maybe not nice with all the insects deciding you were breakfast.
@martaindale You do so good to get out and run in all conditions. I'm glad your kid likes their class schedule. I think it is nice that some of the crossing guards will stop traffic for you to run by.
Happy 66th Birthday @SummerSkier ! It's great when you can "overrun" on your day! I'm glad you had a nice celebration at work yesterday and a nice, near perfect, relaxing day today!
Nice running @Teresa502 . I am enjoying these cooler morning temps too.
Thanks @tarun_yadavA !
@yirara Sorry your run was a tough one, but great job on a longer run. Enjoy your vacation! That sounds like a lot of fun!

31.05/60.00 goal
I got out this morning for my planned drill workout. It was 10 min warm up wun, cadence and acceleration/glide drills, 10 min cool down wun. I added some to the end to add a little distance. The start was hard because I was coughing with every breath. I'll be so glad when this cough goes away.
After I rested, I did some bush hogging on the hill. I quit a little bit before I planned to...just getting too hot.
Today is mom's 89th birthday. Her two sisters and I are taking her out for dinner later. I thought you might enjoy a couple of pictures of her over the years. She is an amazing women and I hope to be as energetic as she is when I'm 89.
I think this is her second or third grade picture.
Before she married my dad, when she worked at a local diner.
Tuesday night at a friends house. She made homemade strawberry shortcake for mom's birthday. Yum.5 -
Your Mom is truly amazing. I am making homemade strawberry shortcake tonight also as that happens to be my Bday cake of choice. However mine is probably not as high cal as the one you pictured @quilteryoyo A thought. Maybe you cough is from the pollen from all the mowing?!
I swear I had a strange sort of sore throat but not really for several weeks and it was just NQR but not sick. The other night I woke up pouring with sweat so I am convinced some sort of bug worked it's way out finally.
Thank you everyone for the bday wishes.
I broke a toe in 2016 (or stubbed it bad enough I could not wear closed shoes) and I was not able to run for a long while. I ended up too heavy for my liking and started on Memorial day with C25K and MFP (again). Glad yours is not too bad.
I think we should take bets on @tarun_yadavA making 200 plus miles this month. That will motivate him. I love to streak and it's only when I can tell I have exceeded my cardio and am just hurting myself that I can make myself NOT do a run and try not to get my HR up there.
I think for vacay I would take my running shoes along now anyway just to be able to see the sights a little faster. But of course hiking is fun too. ANd I would have a slow pace stopping to take photos I bet.

Oh BTW - our RTY team!!! Totally killing it!
I don't care how much or how little we are ALL making it happen. and somehow altho 10K would not fit on the bib they managed to make this one work.
7 -
@quilteryoyo happy birthday to your mom! She is a spit-fire! I too hope I'm that active at 89. My mother in-law is 92 and still mowed her lawn, works, and bowls 2-3 nights a week. That generation was made of some other kind of stuff!7

Yes @Scott6255 a lot less processed food, less hazards like pollution and chemicals, etc…. My paternal grandmother lived to 99 in the “old county” of Ukraine
Happy B’day to your mom @quilteryoyo!!6 -

I saw that - was going to post the “flub” @SummerSkier for the 10000, well, here it is anyway:
Great job Team!!! 🎉🎉. We ROCK!!
7 -
Thanks @SummerSkier . It could be from the mowing. I just want it to stop. What's NQR? I did the same thing last week - woke up a couple of times soaked in sweat. It's weird. Our team is doing great. I guess it is the extra space that a zero takes up. So funny.
Thanks @Scott6255 . Glad your MIL is in good health and active at her age too. It was a different time they grew up in.
Thanks @daria0919 .

I’ve been sitting all day working and my brain has gone numb. Going for a run would be the logical solution, but with 10k scheduled for tomorrow and 16k for Sunday, running today would wreck my weekend. Also, I think I’d die. I’m guessing the only way I could run streak is by doing one or two kilometres very slowly on my rest days.
You’ll get there @scott6255, training works, you’ve just gotta stick with it through the ick!
And @Laurz9191, you’re smashing your training.
I am always blown away with how you get out in the heat @martiandale. I don’t know if I’d last as a runner living in those temps and humidity. And I know all about the school run traffic – I only have one school to contend with but it’s a rural road with no footpath and an 80kph speed limit. Early or late drop off is fine, but 8:30, utter chaos.
Happy birthday @summerskier, I hope you’ve had a fabulous day.

Hi everyone,
Easy recovery 8.2km this morning. I was thinking about taking the day off, but all this talk of streaking, and I figured, if I just take it slow... I'm glad I went out. It was grand and it felt so easy in comparison to yesterday's run
131.4/270km.
I am hoping to get out for a long run this weekend. Fingers crossed that I can convince myself to roll out of bed and out the door for a 3+ hour run.6 -
@ContraryMaryMary Maybe you could get out for a brisk walk on your rest days.
You're doing great @tarun_yadavA ! I say you can do it too.
Nice recovery run @Laurz9191 . Good luck with your long run tomorrow.2
