My new pizza topping is a great hit with both of us! It was simple Serendipity that I devised it a few months ago. Leeks stewed in olive oil, mozzarella, and anchovies. I put some basil leaves on top. I use a real frozen dough that I roll out, and we share one. We had a green salad with it in a super garlicky French dressing. I ate all the garlic chunks!
We love red wine with our pizza, so broke our normal Friday rule! I will think tomorrow is Saturday!!!

I think I will go to the post office tomorrow.
John has started talking about taking me out to lunch. when I feel like it. 👍 I think we might go posh for a change. I like a fish restaurant called English's, which is in the famous Lanes. No music. Hooray! Best scallops I've ever had. It's a little walk from a bus stop, so need to be feeling fit. I might even wear a dress!

Yesterday's diabetes prevention class. The topic was support. Are we getting good support or is something tripping us up - family members or friends encouraging us to eat unhealthy foods, for example. Are we eating out too much or consuming junk food brought in to the house by others? Many of my classmates struggled with these issues. Again, I'm so lucky I have the best support group right here. Rita sharing her program, others of you sharing your meals and eating plans, though not diabetic, are very helpful.

She was worried about riding the school.bus, but found out a friend of hers would be on it, so she was up at 5 am wanting to go!😁

Aaack! Had an eye appt today. It was a yearly, but my eyes are dilated and its made me queasy. I will be glad to have this pass! All clrar with my eyes though, no glaucoma, or any cataract s detected. I think I saw the doctor 3 minutes. Its nice to be utterly boring.
Today's feast is leftover roast. I am starting with a small sandwich with mayp, ketchup and a thick slice of warmed roast beef. Then in a bit will be a stew of sorts with baby potatoes, wild rice, baby carrots and some more of the roast beef. The soup part is just beef bullion, and some of my husbands au jus gravy when he had French dips. Kind of salt laden but hopefully not too bad. I am having an end slice of my hearty grain bread with butter, because who doesn't love to dip warm bread into soup??🤗💖.

Debbie - sorry about Miso. So hard to lose those fur babies. I wonder if your old one has thyroid problems. Our old one does and even on medication she wants to eat all the time but doesn't gain weight.

Lisa - glad you got those floors done. Yuck on the army worms. We had those in Sioux Falls one summer.

Went to water exercise this morning. Hot tub was out of order so didn't get my hand and foot exercises in. I usually do them sitting in the hot tub after class.

Kylia - I love your kitties. I have a soft spot for calicos. We had one that lived to be 20.

Allie - hope things go well with the C-section.

Oy what a day....
So got Doris all situated at home and then basically all he double toothpicks broke loose.
On the way home my brother called..court postponed..
He has been taking care of his mother in law who is end stage alzhimers at home.. and Jean was out doing stuff..so the 2 of them are bickering and both are calling me. And in the midst of this my friends band is going to play at the riverfront park.
So ,I went to that,meanwhile im getting texts from Sean wanting me to rent a room for him with my credit card.
So i didn't by the way.
But my mind is shot.. and I have to take Doris for a follow up tomorrow.
So im home and watching a YouTube video and then going to sleep yikes..

Back in July you may remember that N and I visited my nephew and his wife in Idaho. Their gorgeous home sits on a river and is surrounded by pine trees. Well, as I write this two large wildfires have been moving in the direction of their place. Closest one is about 3 miles away. It actually jumped the river to their side of it. Hopefully, they won't have to evacuate, but they have already pre-packed so as to be ready should they get the order. Nephew owns an excavator, so he is very busy working to clear trees away from buildings. I check FB several times a day for his updates and photos. So, so scary.

The trip N proposed to FarmAid didn't come together so instead the Golden Goobers next adventure will be in Maine at the end of September. And as soon as we set the date, I felt a boost in my mood and more energy. Must be love. Or maybe the anticipation of a romantic lobster dinner?

Ginny, my unit is the last step before going to the PICU and the first step out of the PICU. Our hospital is the only Children's hospital in the entire state of Mississippi. The first step out of the NICU is also, so we get many babies. Our floor also specializes in palliative care. So, we get all ages. The oldest patient we had was 33 years old. He has lived with us since he was 8. I met him at 18 years old. We had four live-in patients. We would build a palliative care facility, but red tape got in. Our last live-in just turned 18, and I cared for him since he was 3. He will be leaving soon, too. My co-worker adopted another live-in when she was 3, the sibling of our last live-in. That is why our unit is so diverse.

Tracey- Congratulations on finishing your first week at your new job. I hope they guide you on what is expected of you while your boss is away for a month.

Terri- I want to try to start a knitting or a crochet project in September. I love your goals; the rain would make me feel less guilty about working on my hobbies.

I had decided to nap today when my neighbor called and said his mom had fallen. He asked if I could check on her, so I did. She didn't want me to get her up. So, I positioned her with pillows and called for help. Her son was speeding home but was an hour away. I called again and spoke with the dispatcher, and finally, the police came and the ambulance. Then, I quickly showered and dashed out to meet my friends at Newks for dinner. We had fun, but I wanted a slice of cake so severely that I ate my salad and drank water. I will work out and then go to bed in the air-conditioned den on the couch. I have an appointment tomorrow for them to see what is wrong.

Ginny - I keep reminding myself of my hip, back and foot pain to encourage me to do my exercises and to move.

Machka - I was not under the extreme stress that you have been under and not nearly as long, but I have to say just a few weeks of no stress didn’t do it, it took me months to be able to relax and not expect the”other shoe to fall”. I hope you get a long break soon.

Terri - Yes I tend to learn better diving than I do sitting. I made the desk switch today and am going to start taking charge very soon.

Heather - I like a light wood floor as well. We’re going to have problems in this house when we decide to redo the floors. They need done desperately.
You and John will have fun with the new record player. I asked for one two years ago for Christmas and am so happy with it. I don’t play it often enough in the Summer, but I tend to in the Winter.
I think a posh lunch is a great celebration of your feeling better!

Kylia - my neighbour is a single mom, she just got two kittens for her son. She says they are very active and her son is in heaven.

Annie - I think the reason men in books who don’t communicate much are attractive because the authors have active imaginations.

Lisa - I remember an army worm invasion in my hometown in the 80’s it was terrible! You could hear them crunch as you were driving down the road.

Oh how can Athena be starting school already! Such a sweet girl.

Lanette - My manager the administrator has been covering 2/3’s and the scheduler has been the other 1/3. They were doing the mandatory things but there are some other things that need attention, and some time to accomplish. The day to day stuff is caught up though thankfully!

Rori - I hope your nephew’s home is spared.
Maine in September, being from New Brunswick I was through Maine a lot, what a beautiful time of year. What part will you be seeing, my MIL lives closer to Houlton, ME than she does her closest town in NB.

My brother shared this the other day on FB, I told him that some of us are now buying vinyl again. 😂😂😂


Not a whole lot to share today I sat and watched TV mostly this evening outside of my bath time. I am tired so was thinking a quiet evening would be best.

Rori, I love Maine; it is one of my favorite places to travel. I still have many places I want to see. My best friend and I agree that we had a phenomenal trip to Maine. I could live there. The people were so lovely to me. I love their tiny blueberries and was hooked on their blueberry pies. Then I had a lobster roll, and then I fell in love. Then I was obsessed with the stone tourmaline, I believe. I told my co-workers that they should go to Maine. Prayers that your Nephew and his wife don't lose their home to the fires.

Debbie, I'm so sorry you lost your cat, Miso. I'm glad you were with Him as he went over the rainbow. I am sending hugs.

Rebecca- I would have fallen in love with that baby and spoiled her. She is beautiful!

Good early morning, everyone. My sleep schedule is disorganized. I fell asleep on the couch and am now wide awake at 2:19 am.

We're surrounded by low pressure systems and being blasted by strong winds, rain and temperature fluctuations. A bit of a hurricane system. Roads are flooded. Trees are down. Power is out here and there around the island and although we've got power, our TV keeps losing the signal.

The strongest gust on our island was 154 km/h.




Last night I drove the long way home, inland, so I wouldn't fill our van with sea water.

I'm waiting for the day when my shoulders are relaxed and jaws aren't clenched naturally ... rather than me reminding myself to relax my shoulders and unclench my jaws periodically throughout the day.

And yes ... that "other shoe" ... it's lurking out there!

Slept well last night. Doing stretches and getting ready for work. After moderating walking and stretches nearly daily I am seeing improvement with leg/foot. The strange leg issues have definitely improved which seems to be helping everything. The foot still hurts at times but not nearly like it was. I need to remember how extremely painful it was to motivate me to continue daily stretches.

Miso was just barely 6yrs old. His seizures started either two or three years ago(think two but time is going by so fast). We think that it might have something to do with the topical flea meds as they started soon after we gave him a dose(he had had the meds before that with no problem). We did not give them to him again
We did not take him to the vet to do tests/x-rays, etc. It would have cost $1000 for the tests and they would put him on prescription meds or CBD oil so, dh bought CBD on Amazon and we started giving him that when ever he would have one. Keep him on it for a week and if he didn't have any more seizures, we would stop giving it to him. That seemed to really work- he went months without one. It had been well over 6 months since his last one and last night it was different and he had a long string of them, some little, some massive ones. We knew when the wouldn't stop that there was nothing we could do.
We could have driven the half hour to the emergency clinic just for them to want to run tests and ultimately put him down, or we could stay home and I held him in my arms for 2 1/2 hrs until he passed in my arms.

The cat in the back ground will most likely be the next to go. She is the mom of one(was two but the girl died from FIP) that we brought in 5 yrs ago-no idea how old she is. She was a outside/stray cat that lived in the yard for many years before we brought her in. We are guessing she is at least 12. She eats non stop but is super skinny, she does have two tumors that we can feel when we give her a bath. She only uses pee pads(we use disposable and washable). Has some skin issues too but super sweet. Dh isn't ready to put her down. She doesn't act like she is in any pain- just wants attention and food, mainly fod all the time.

Insomnia again last night- was awake pretty much from 2:30-7;00. Fitbit says I got 56minutes of deep sleep

Have a dentist appt. this morning while dh has a meeting with the social worker for his mom. Really hoping she can help line up some care for MIL.
