We had a very successful day at M&S.
My hips held up, and we completed both journeys by bus. I had very low expectations of finding anything to wear, but, AMAZINGLY, I found a pair of jeans that fit and are comfortable. Stretchy. I swallowed my pride and sized up!
I got changed in the disabled room, so that was a lot easier than usual.
Before that I tried on a Chanel style boucle jacket. I have had my eye on one for years, for my girly lunches. G often wears one. I picked my usual size, which I could wear a thin sweater underneath. Then I spied a trenchcoat, which has come back into fashion. I've had a couple before in my life, and I really like them. (Needs a steam after being crammed into a bag)
John bought me all three items for my birthday. I think he blenched at the price, but he was happy to see me so happy. I have never had such a successful shopping trip in my life!
Then we retreated to the top floor for egg and watercress sandwiches and pots of tea. I had Earl Grey.
After that we wanted to buy something super easy for dinner, and saw a Melton Mowbray pork pie! Yummo! We chose an apple and celery salad to go with it, and a pack of wild rocket. (Arugula) So no cooking, or even chopping.
I am mightily pleased with my haul, and for making it there and back and around the shop. I quit before I was exhausted, which is always a good idea.
Here is my haul.
It's not my birthday until October!
Barbara - Many congratulations on your achievement! Slowly does it, and remember you can do it crappily! (I love Cas)
I'm following the same principles for my writing. Just do a little bit and do it badly. Anything is better than nothing. Forward momentum, even if it's just one thing. Trash counts. We can do this! (Rori)
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Yesterday, it was raining and DH wanted to go ‘shopping’. We did some groceries then went for lunch at Wendy’s. I got a baked potato with chives and sour cream, had enough points to get a chili free so that too. I love their chili! Anyway, no picture there. We then went to Hobby Lobby to walk around. Ended up getting some close out yarn I want to make a scarf and maybe gloves with, a packet of fall scent for our bathroom, and DH got a piece of jersey to possibly make a pillow out of. Got home and did nothing! Rainy days really make me feel bleh. They always did, but since I moved to the desert, I can really feel what they do. Getting out helped a bunch.
Found the chia seeds at Albertson’s. They were in the baking aisle. I looked everywhere but there! Had some this morning in my oatmeal and will try overnight oats again using chia seed in it. Last time, I didn’t like the texture and didn’t really see much of a difference from ‘nuke-ink’ it in the microwave. I will have to experiment.
Today is payday so off to Sam’s club and back to Albertson’s who has corn 3 on the cob for $1, today is the last day for that. I want to get some and freeze them.
Laters Lovlies!

Heatherlove the trench coat! I’ve had a few myself. I now have a NorthFace rain jacket I bought about 8 years ago. I wore it a lot when I lived in Connecticut, but since moving here, I think I wear it maybe twice a year! I love the thing. Well made and light, perfect for desert rain. It has a hood and I have a rain hat to go with it that I have never worn. It stays in the jacket pocket as a ‘just in case’. I put it there in CT but haven’t had a need for it since. I suppose I should donate it as I never use it.
Today is: a good day to declutter a bit!

Unfortunately, I've been developing a UTI for a few days, and this afternoon it has come on full force. I've done the stick test I bought from Amazon, and it turned bright purple immediately. I've rung the doctor and they are going to ring me back. Usually, I just have to take a sample up there and pick up a prescription of antibiotics from the pharmacy next door. John can do that for me.
They've rung back and issued prescription. Hooray! Sending John up in half an hour. Clutching my sample!
I've taken one of those anti burn sachets, so hope to get more comfortable.
I've inherited the tendency from my mum. Boo!

Carol – here they are when we first got them, We were bringing in the Christmas (yes, Christmas) decorations. I already have the popcorn strung for the trees
You know, while we were bringing in the decorations, Vince took about 3 breaks, he had to sit down. Then I went in the pool and he took a nap. I do find that the older I get, the slower I am. But I get the job done. Maybe I have more stamina than he has or maybe it’s because he’s older than I am (only a month).
Tomorrow the plan is to work, then I have to count the donations at the church, then take the donations to the soup kitchen. They’re having this parade of canned goods, they weigh them. Afterwards, I’m thinking I’ll go to the nursery and get 2 more plants that I can plant. Probably come home and plant them.
Took a walk to Food Lion to get Gatorade for Vince. I didn’t know that I could have used the kiosk for another $1 coupon but I did this time. So in the end it was $4.99 where as it’s usually $6-something. Came home, took a shower, and will probably get to bed in a bit
Tomorrow I need to call Exodus Homes to see when the guys can transplant the plants for me. I also need to call Food Lion because I hadn’t downloaded the monthly offers and I got one item. Then I want to call the eye md to see if this irritation is normal and when will it go away?
Pip – lovely planter. Did you use stencils or draw it freehand?
Off to bed.

Freehand. If I had better brushes, stuff would have come out a lot better. Too cheap, those are $1 store brushes and paint.

Hi Ladies,
September came in with a bang. Yesterday was my baby boy's birthday. He is now 23 and almost done with University. He took two years off due to Covid. He and I both got it, and it made him depressed being isolated in his dorm and not able to socialize. So, they held his scholarship and let him go on medical leave. He is so happy and thriving now.
I found you guys. Thank you, Barbie, Lisa, and Barbara, for guiding me through the September post. The comfort tech fixed my AC, but the guy said that the fan motor was dying. He said that, hopefully, the motor would last another year. If not, then that would cost $900.00 plus. This was when I was ready to take Rose to Day camp so she wouldn't bother Elliot, the repair guy, and my car wouldn't start. So, my husband told me to contact the warranty people to have my vehicle towed. So, after Elliot left, the tow truck arrived. I asked if he could give me a jump, and my car started. So, he advised that I take it in to get checked out. So I drove Rose to Day Camp cause she was barking to go. I then took the Jeep to the dealer, and they gave me an Uber ride home. I told the guy I hoped to have it back tonight to pick up my dog. He said that he would try to get it seen soon. Rose may be spending the night there. Rose kept me up most of the night, wanting to lay on the grass. Sleeping downstairs makes it easier to get me up. My head hurt due to fatigue.
Allie reunions can be fun. We had our ten-year reunion at Disneyland, and we had a blast. I have failed to attend since then. I remember losing weight, and I purchased this expensive New York Jones dress. I also had my hair done in a French roll and my nails done—I had never had my nails done with acrylics before. People ask me if I was a newscaster. I flew into California. I know I will never get that done to my nails again. I love short nails. I got a fungus from the fake nails. I wash my hands too much in my line of work. The other reunions were thorny for me to get away and attend. Maybe I will attend the fifty-year one.
Rita, Dobie, and Harry Potter look so cute. The salmon dish looks delicious, and I have that banana ice cream recipe. I ordered an ice cream maker from Walmart in July, but I never got it. I contacted Walmart, and they said that they do not deal with that third party anymore, so I will have to deal with them to get my money back. So, I will not order from Walmart again.
Rebecca, your sons look handsome, and I enjoy talking to you. My son rather text.
Heather, you are done with your handsome surgeon, but did he have you go to PT?? Now, about decluttering, I will do it. I threw out some things at work and took some things home from my locker. I kept my plates. I will continue to work on my locker. Lastly, alone time is a gift, and I am glad you enjoyed it. It sounds like your DH had fun, too.
Rebecca and Carol, my DH lost 106 pounds, and it is time to donate his clothes. I am 65-70 pounds down, so I will donate scrubs and clothes.
Margaret, I need to send my aunt a plant with a dragon for her birthday. She would love it.
Annie, it is hard to be a caregiver to our parents. I don't know how I would have kept my sanity, and sometimes I didn't without my therapist—sending big hugs to you.
Pip, you never cease to amaze me. I shared your feat with my DH—a lovely collection of bike jerseys. Yay to 3500 miles!
Machka- That picture of the mountains was breathtaking. You need to print and frame that picture.
Michelle, I love your kittens. They are so cute and rambunctious.
Tracey- I loved Sheryl Crowe, and she remains on my playlist. I loved the FB letter, too; I took a pic of it.
Lisa, your Quillows are pretty foxy. I was converting my garage into a craft room, but the guys did subpar work and took off with my money. I am moving anyway. Maybe one day.
I am ready for my undisturbed nap since my dog isn't here. I will take my muscle relaxer for my back and motrin for my neck. Then, we will see if I feel up to yoga or step aerobics when I wake up. Have a wonderful day, everyone.

Annie - Glad your dad will be at the class today and you get some time to yourself and run errands. Sending big (((HUGS))).
Monique - what kind of dog is your Rose? Great that she has a doggie day camp so you can sleep in peace - hope your back and neck are feeling better. A lot going on at your house with the fan and car not starting.
Michele - hope the eye doctor can help your eye. My right eye has been bugging me, same feeling, like an eyelash or something. Feeling dry and scratchy a lot. Also, good luck with that foot and orthotic - we have mirroring symptoms.
I woke up too early, and had a batch of cut up apples in the crockpot with applesauce cooked and ready to be zinged by 8 am. I'm freezing it in the little Oikos containers, about half a cup each. I'll have a slew of them.
And I started really picking the Aronia berries today - juicy and finally getting some sweetness. The upcoming hot weather at the end of the week should help. For now, I'm laying them out on cookie sheets on the guestroom bed to dry a little. My freezer is packed, but I'll make room for as many bags of them as I can.

Hello, my chick-a-doodle-doos... 🐣🐣🐣🐓🐔
So, my nice quiet day stretching out in front of me turned into wocka-wocka-woo, for some strange reason... one of those days where you think, well, since I need to go to town to drop off a donation, then I might as well do such and such, so take a deep breath:- I left the house to go to the courthouse in order to talk to them about what I need to do to collect and submit sales tax for any sales I make in this Christmas fair,
- and I had to turn back to the house because I didn't have my checkbook with me...
- and then when I got back in the car, the low fuel light came on...
- so I had to stop and get gas on the way,
- and when I finally got there, they said I could do everything I needed online,
- so I left the courthouse, but I had to go to the bathroom,
- and the cleanest one in that area is at the beer store right across the river,
- so while I was there, I picked up some beer for Corey,
- and then went to town to donate some stuff from the craft room that I won't use,
- and while I was there, it was senior day (30% off of everything) so I picked up some stuff to use to make cloth pumpkins,
- then stopped at JoAnns next door to get hot glue for the pumpkins,
- then I headed back to the house, and talked to my friend on the way back (her dad is doing a little better, but still can't be left alone at all, emergency room visit last night because his catheter jostled loose and he was bleeding... but he's OK)
- and just as I got home, Corey called for his lunchtime hello,
- and just as we got dinner plans sorted out, the text came saying my new glasses were ready,
- so I ate some lunch quick,
- and clipped all the tags off the stuff I got at the thrift store,
- and got them washing,
- and headed back out the door to go pick up my glasses at Walmart,
- and this time I remembered to take the package of dishtowels that I made for that same friend,
- so I stopped at the post office in town first to mail those,
- and when I got to Walmart, the optician was at lunch, so I grabbed a couple things I needed, like more clothesline,
- and then I got my glasses fitted (and they're awesome, no scratches, I can SEE!)
- and then headed back home AGAIN,
- and my washer didn't drain, so I'm trying to trick it into re-booting by unplugging it and plugging it in, which hasn't worked yet,
- and holy guacamole, I've still got laundry to fold, too.
- But first I have to go check on that dang washer,
- and breathe...
Other than that, it's been a pretty good day. It did begin with a cranky gut, but passed quickly, only one spasm while I was out, so life is very good right now. Hope your day has been more peaceful than mine!
Later, y'all,
Love,

Barbie--Thank you for keeping us going on a new month.
I have been reading, just same thing different day going on. Thought I had a person hired and she couldn't pass the background check. They tried for a month with no luck. So last Friday they reposted the job and I did an interview this afternoon. I was very honest and told her what I expect. So I let HR know to go a head. So hoping light at the end of this tunnel.
Otherwise been working so much seems all I do is work, eat and sleep. I have really fallen into a black hole. But I had 3 days off and was sick and slept most of it. So feeling better today and moving a head.
I did get a memorial tattoo for my friend that passed. It was a spur of the moment thing. Had talked about it and last Saturday decided to do it. Found a place my son goes and they were able to work me in. It is a purple butterfly with teal body and antlers. I really like it.
Deb--So glad your mom's roommate left. I was worried she would drag it out.
Well I am down just over a pound this week, makes 2 weeks in a row. The important thing I keep telling myself is not to give up.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE7 -

Vicki - Hope this one will start and will stay. You are an incredibly patient woman - congratulations on two weeks of weight loss!
Monique - Congrats to you AND to your DH on your weight loss, and happy birthday to your son! So pleased he was able to resume his scholarship without losing it. How long 'til graduation?
Heather - I loved M&S when I lived there... There is no real similarity to any retail experience in the heartlands of the US. Perhaps in the northeast, but not here.
Allie - It looks a lot longer written out than it felt like when I was in the middle of it...
That said, I forgot a few things - I also sprayed and gently sponge mopped my living room rug before I left for my journeys, and vacuumed it up before I ate lunch. Then, after I got back home, I finished installing the saddle blanket seat covers that I bought for the Kicks some while back. I got a LOT of the HD part of ADHD today.
I think at least part of the burst of energy is because it's the first day in a long time that the morning was cool and then it stayed that way, never got past 77 F (25 C) today. I absolutely love the fall and the spring, and today felt like fall really will be here soon.
Cor's home, dinner's in the oven, very simple stuff. Zero appetite today... but then I lost three pounds straight up in the morning's spasms, and that usually tanks my hunger triggers for the day. Sounds awful, but honestly, I feel really good right now, and I STILL have more energy than I know what to do with. I'm so grateful for every good moment.
Have a good night, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR

We were worried about that too- she left, but also left some huge stains on the carpet- dog and cat pee stains. I will take my carpet shampooer up when I go most likely next weekend. I had planned on going this weekend(and I still might) but dh wanted me to be at his mom's with him when they do the interview with the care person we are hoping to hire. Will play it by ear.
Walked the dog for her, came home and gave flea baths to the old momma cat and the three kittens again. Kittens are on weekly flea baths right now. Nice that two of the three don't mind it too much. After that I went and cleaned the big litter box(big as in- a Little Tykes playhouse that is in the catio, filled with pine pellets). Came in, boiled a bunch of eggs- one for my big salad I had for lunch(ham, cheese, tomato, pepper, egg, lettuce and the rest I made into egg salad.
Had a lady from the CA tax board call- she needed my help with some things for mom-she used to have a business lic. but hasn't sold anything in years- their files showed 7 yrs of no filing so I needed to do that for her. Super sweet lady- Mom kept getting a bill so she paid it(they automatically send a bill for what they think you owe). She has a $500 CREDIT now so after I got all the computer stuff done to close each year, they are sending her the paper to sign then she will get a check.
Going to be a long day tomorrow- up at 6 to pick MIL up at 7 to take her up for eye surgery(lid lift- she is Asian so has droopy eyelids that have gotten worse so she can't see very well)- Have to be in Vacaville at 8:30. Not sure if we will just sit there or go across the freeway and do a little shopping. Up to dh on that one. Have Zumba tomorrow night- may need an energy drink before class to keep me going.

Worked then went and bought two more plants. Got them planted and…….drum roll
MY OVEN IS FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!
Missed ceramics but now I can bake so it was worth it. Then took a walk around the neighborhood.
Tracey – you know what I use the fusible tape for? You know how sometimes the tag sticks up on your shirts? Well, I put a SMALL piece of the tape under it and iron the tag down. I really don’t like to cut the tag out because sometimes it contains information that you need like washing instructions. This way, I have the tag but it doesn’t stick up out of the shirt. Congrats to Kaitlyn. The Christmas decorating usually gets done about a week or two before the holiday
Nice weather today so I got the two plants planted. Now to pray they live. I need to go to the gym tomorrow and then to the nursery for two bushes on the side of the house. I called Exodus Works (long term supportive housing for recovering homeless) and they are going to transplant the two bushes on the side of my house Thurs. I only called them today, I expected it to take at least a week before they could get to it but they came here today, gave me a quote (quite reasonable) and said they’d be here Thurs. So I need to get the bushes tomorrow so they can plant them. They said it would only take two guys an hour. I honestly thought it would take longer.
Vince said Jess is going to be here this weekend. I have hamburgers frozen from the last time she was going to be here, so I think we’ll be fine
So glad everyone liked the pics of the kitties. They are so much like little kids it’s unbelievable (Kylia and Debbie you know what I mean)
Annie – that’s good that you cried on your sister’s shoulder. You deserve a good cry
Rita – does the Wendy’s by you have the $1 frosty?
Bryan’s son’s birthday is tomorrow (or today his time). I sent him a “happy birthday” email. Don’t know what else I can do.
Monique – good job on the weight loss. I don’t like ordering from WalMart, I like to see what I’m getting
Lanette – I called the eye MD office today. They said they talked to the MD and it sounds like I need to continue using the eye drops after she did the procedure (she told me to use them for one week, but maybe it’s taking me longer to heal), to increase my use of the eye lubricating solution and to get a solution that’s preservative-free. I do have an appt with her in a week so we shall see how it is then. I can’t wait to get to the podiatrist. The foot is actually starting to burn when I walk. I mean just the spot where the “callus or whatever it is” is
Lisa – what a day you’ve had
We usually see TSO in Concert with Ken & Lynette and now Jess and Colby. I know Vince likes when they play in Greensboro. It’s a smaller venue and parking etc. is not that bad. However, they’re not playing there this year, they’re playing in Charlotte and Raleigh. He doesn’t like to drive in Charlotte and he thinks he’s the only one with a vehicle that seats 6. He thinks Lynette’s car might so I told him to ask her if she would drive using the reason that he needs a certain belt. Yes, he already got it, but she doesn’t have to know that. He’ll tell her that he could be driving and lose power steering and a few other things. He just doesn’t like to drive in Charlotte. Can’t say that I’m a fan of it, either. I’m someone who would rather see how things play out, he feels he’d like a reason that he can’t drive. So we shall see what happens.

Pip, I remember when my son was a Junior in high school, he had a crush on his Latin teacher. She sponsored a trip to Italy, where they biked 42 to 45 miles daily. If it was my daughter, I know she could do it. The thought of my son doing it when he had not ridden a bike in years doing it was hilarious. If I suggested such a trip, it would be an immediate no. So we told him we would come up with the money if he took his bike out of the shed and started training. He told me that it was too dangerous to train. So the money stayed in the bank. So, Yes, Pip, you are even out doing a then-teenager and now a young adult. I asked my son if he rode the city bikes in NYC, and he told me that it wasn't safe. He is a walker and a runner.
I went through my closet, and I have plenty to donate to my mom instead of ordering from Landsend. Unfortunately, my mom is fitting my fat clothes. My favorite pieces are swimming on me. That is the good news. Some clothes still have tags on them. I have a size donate pile from my DH and me, too. I am excited cause my clothes are too big for me. I went through my scrapbook stuff and yarn and want it all. The garbage bin is full of old clothes and cords; I don't know what they are for.
I got my nap in, and then the car place called and told me that the repairs for my car were $860.00. Are they kidding me? Talk about a rude awakening. I have 38,000 miles on the vehicle, and the warranty covers up to 35,000 miles from the warranty. We purchased an extended warranty, so they will find out how much they will cover tomorrow. Rose has to stay at camp because I do not have a vehicle to pick her up. So, I will pamper myself and sleep in my now cool bedroom. It is so nice to have AC again.
Have a fantastic night, ladies.10 -
Heather - I quit using the quilts my grandmother made for me for fear they would be ruined. I really should use them though. They are so pretty.
Love that you had such a great day and I can’t wait to see you in your outfit.
Barbara - Funny I was trying to figure out if I could still buy one of those long phone connecters for my office.
I would like to move the desk but need the cords and cables lengthened first.
Lisa - I should just dig the machine out. Maybe next week. I’ve overbooked myself for the next two weekends.
I really do love Brodey. I love Ryan as well, but they are two completely different people. I am more comfortable with Brodey in having a conversation, Ryan is harder to get a conversation going sometimes. It’s a lack of common interests though really I think.
Busy day!
Annie - I hope you had a better day today.
Margaret - what a cute flower arrangement. People are so talented.
Michele - don’t spend three months decorating? That’s a lot!
Monique - car repairs are such a pain.
Not a lot to say today, had a good day at work.

Michele NC
Why doesn't he just tell the truth ... that he doesn't like driving in Charlotte?
Just seems so much simpler to tell the truth rather than come up with lies.
Couldn't he let you or Jess or Colby drive his vehicle?

Today’s gratitude: the camaraderie at casserole-a-thons and line dancing.
Day 3 of declutter challenge was the fridge. Didn’t think there was anything in there to purge but decided to follow the program anyway. Much to my surprise I found expired rennet, mustard and one salad dressing, also purged two baggies of soy sauce, ketchup, malt vinegar, maple syrup, jelly, etc. packets. Thought I posted a pic on her FB’s group’s comments, but can’t find it. Tomorrow is pantry and Thursday is cleaning supplies. Will try to do both tomorrow after line dancing as Thursday is implant abutments under sedation ;}
Lisa I’ve been known to “hem” using tape, double sided works best but in a pinch I’ve used plain ol’ Scotch. . . Wow, what a day!
Margaret, what are the red berries in the bunch with the golden peachy roses?
Heather, Boo! for the UTI. Hooray! for your hips holding up throughout the best shopping day ever! Well done, both you and Johnny ;}
Rita long ago I learned that Wendy’s chili was one of the healthiest fast food options you could chose, both protein and fiber. And it’s yummy!
Mo con very gratulations to you and your DH for taking off so much weight. Very well done! That repair bill is a shock, hope the warranty covers most if not all.
Tracey you might be able to pick up a coupler and line at Radio Shack if there are still any, otherwise Amazon has a set with coupler, cord and “organizers” : https://www.amazon.com/Extension-Telephone-Standard-Couplers-Holders/dp/B094J5WMN4/ref=sr_1_7?crid=3QTRQXLRPMCN1&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.noim5r7tPFTaPeRXulk9hhf2b_QtryeZEvUAzW1VWzxcghDIryDPTpSsoGM1nPlTvP02OPKIk6rXkUzLo3OZVfXYygUsfeVhGUoFwSnzu474q92gxZmCkO--aDyJf3-WbUcU1OIVCGaLvmkjdB9gi2Xl-kvF5KLEHNshefzdzYrqTf3ij7fTQ_kGc-Girka-EOrMJc0gqt9kZ9T6Ajailr9NRbsq2J8E-8SJ-f2qJ_E.4fp9rqer30Dgmt3YxpAPGBCr0MdX4PiWyek0pK59y3U&dib_tag=se&keywords=Rj11+coupler&qid=1725427222&s=industrial&sprefix=rj11+coupler,industrial,155&sr=1-7&th=1
Computer network cables work best straight through so hope your IT can replace with longer ones, couplers can deteriorate the signal.
Tomorrow will be busy with BB&B and line dancing, then tidying before the pet sitter arrives. Just as well, it will keep my mind off the oral surgery.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Barbara - There is always something, isn't there! They compare it to peeling an onion. There's always another layer underneath. This morning, inspired by you, I put two, and Monique, very nice, but too small, skirts in the donate pile. I haven't worn them in 10 years, though I like them. One is a mini I used to wear with black tights, in my thin phase. I've kept two midis which I will, try on, but they may have to go as well. I hope they still fit, because they will look great with my new jacket. I have some knee length flat boots which have come back into fashion. (Gave away the ones with heels )
You can always find something. Remember 5 mins max!
You are doing great!

Tried on the midi pencil skirts. They are very stretchy, so they still fit, but are lumpy-bumpy. I can imagine myself wearing the thicker one this autumn, but the thinner one needs 7 lbs off me to venture out. Should be doable, and motivation. It's a sort of zebra print. Very of the moment.
I'm thinking of going up to the Dim Sum shop this morning, taking my donations with me. I can also get cash out for the vinyl fitters. Haven't seen cash in sooooo long! It will be around 0.8 of a mile. Taking my shopping trolley. Might stop for coffee again!

Tracey - as Barbara said, Amazon has every kind of connection, for everything.4 -
Have 6 really lovely items of clothing to donate. I did retry on a new pair of black trousers, never worn, but the waist was too tight and uncomfortable, so I was right to have put them in the pile. Also gorgeous costume jewellery that is too heavy and uncomfortable. I had put a pearl bracelet in there, which had broken, but I thought someone might like the beads. Then I remembered Edie had been talking about jewellery making, so I've kept them for her.
It's amazing how your decluttering muscle can develop. I've kept these things for years, but not worn them. Too small, something uncomfortable about them, etc etc. They are going! Even if I love them.
