Question - do any of you still have your wedding dresses? Mine was a little cream color street length skirt and top, not really wedding-y. It's hanging in the back of the closet, I had starved myself down to 129 lbs to fit into it back then - I was 25. DH and I got married in my grandmother's parlor, just family present. Huge snowstorm, snowdrifts to battle but the pastor made it out to the farmhouse. My dad had to plow the road to get him back into town. Anyway, I'm thinking I should put the outfit in the donate box.

Still have both of mine- not sure the condition of the first one- it is preserved in a box up in the rafters BUT we had rats in the garage a few years ago- Haven't gone up there to see if they got into it or not. It is a size 2 that had to be shortened a LOT(like almost a foot)
Second one is hanging in the back of the closet in my sewing room which is totally full of stuff so I never go in there. First one was bought at a little boutique, second I made myself. Cost more to alter the first one than it cost me for the fabric/pattern/notions for the second one.

I still have the dress from my first wedding because it was also my mother's dress. I do not have the dress from my second wedding. I wouldn't have worn it again, even though it was pretty (a light green), but it was fairly formal so not a lot of call for it. My mother's dress has a lot of sentimental value.

Lanette - I still have my wedding dress as well. I haven't been able to bring myself to donate it, and Corey thinks I should sell it. It cost about $500 at the time, 15 years ago - I ordered it online, and it was before the industry got all scam-laden. Right now, probably three or four thousand dollars new, but used? I have no idea. It's somewhere between a petite size eight and a ten, due to the lacing, and was made to fit my measurements. At the moment, it's hanging in my closet still, covered up, and I told Kelsey I'd give it to her when they move back to the mainland, and my granddaughter can either save it for her wedding or use it for dress up, don't mind either way.9

Barbara - What is a casserole -a-thon?
I’ll check Amazon. I’ll also wait for the maintenance guy, they may have some stashed somewhere in the building.
Heather - I used to keep things because I liked them too. Finally I decided to just get rid of things if I wasn’t using or enjoying them.
Lisa - those pumpkins are going to be adorable.
Lanette - your cord idea reminded of a photographer’s page I saw the other day and sent to my girls.
My wedding dress got a stain on it in storage at my in-laws after we moved out here. In 2015 when I went home my MIL confessed the damage to me. I was home at that time cleaning my parents house out so was in a “get rid of it mood”. Anyway, I cut the bottom off it and kept a couple of layers of the lace, cut the sleeves and a good portion of the bodice. I brought that home with me and threw the rest away. I eventually made a shadow box with some of the lace and bead work with some of our wedding photos for our bedroom. I hadn’t done anything with the lace from the bottom but in 2019 Kaitlyn asked if she could have some to have her wedding veil made. I, of course, told her yes through my tears. I have used some of the lace in her scrapbook I’m making her for Christmas. I will post that after she has it, I don’t trust her not to pop in here from time to time. 😂. I still haven’t a ziploc bag full of lace from it that I’ll use at some point I imagine.
Barbie - how fortunate to have someone with a medical background to take Jake. Hope he gets good news.
Annie - I’m glad you had a better day today.
Sorry to hear about the school tragedy.
Allie - Not long now for Tracy
I’m off to bed. It’s past my bedtime.

Wedding Dress! Mine was rented and returned right after the wedding as were my bridesmaids dresses. I think my father only allowed my mom to spend $400 on the whole wedding but it went off well. We were married in our church and then had the reception at home.

I made my first wedding dress myself from a Nina Ricci pattern. White crêpe. It was fabulous. I wore it again for my 21st birthday and then washed it. (I was only young) All I had was a handful of shrunken rags.
It was an elevated trouser suit, (1970) with a split overskirt and a big bow in the front.
My dad made and iced the cake.
This morning I woke up at 6.40, and decided to write my book. I was nervous, because I am currently writing about the origin of our universe. I am not a scientist! However, I think I made a good stab at it for an hour or so. Pleased with self. Getting some words down sets the whole day up for me.
I've adopted the Clutterbug method. It only has to be for 5 minutes, and it can be c r a p p y. Thank you Cas.
Of course, it rarely is 5 minutes, like Barbara, but it helps to think that way. I used to teach my students all this stuff, but it's HARD to take it on yourself. I'm getting much, much better at it.

Today’s gratitude: Last night, Joe accidentally left the gate open while fleeing a swarm of termites. This morning Tumble barked in response to another dog barking out in the woods. It was Mooch! I called “Moochie poochie, find me, find me!!!” and clapped my hands. He came running out of the woods with a big happy smile on his face. I gave him a cookie, not to reward him for leaving the yard, but for coming back. Whew!
Yesterday’s BB&B class included throwing a medicine ball down hard onto the floor and catching it when it bounced up. When coach came near, I gritted “This is what I always hated about recess!” Coach looked like he was thinking “Recess? Nobody hates recess!!!” Was hard, took more strength than I had and I was the only one who couldn’t catch the ball, but ended up chasing after it. Brought back memories of [shudder] dodge ball, getting hit in the throat by a thrown baseball, being clumsy, inept, uncoordinated etc. etc. I was much happier in the school room reading, solving puzzles. Think that explains a lot ;}
Just a quick skim while savoring the last glass of water before the pre-oral surgery fast.
Heather, Lisa, Lanette, stuck with the program and purged expired/unopened mustard, coconut milk, tomato soup, jar of capers and unsealed bag of Cheetos that had gone stale. Will probably not feel like decluttering tomorrow so cleaning supplies will have to wait. Really appreciate the encouragement and good example!
Ginny when you do your research, see if D3 and K2 are the right combination for you to absorb. Did you go through an audiologist for the hearing aids? Thanks for the Oticon recommendation.
Lanette my favorite pit stops are in BiMart and Grocery Outlet Our thrift store accepted a plastic bag of miscellaneous cords and connectors… Maybe Tracey could have Jonah sort through her local op/tip shops? Yes I still have my wedding dress, but it’s totally out of style now, high sleeves, long neck. Maybe I’ll be buried in it? We have water and it’s going through the UV filter so all’s well. Water guy hasn’t been back to complete the system simplification or connect the new big tank… or give us the bill for the new pump and all the work so far… ;} Texted him earlier this week… crickets.
Barbie thankful Jake’s friend will be in the consultation with him, hopeful of new option.
Margaret it really looks like those purple blossoms are raining down. Any idea how the affect was achieved? ?FLOW? in the context of purging stuff?
Annie your mom’s Bose Wave s a blessing. The sound quality still amazes me every time I turn ours on.
Carol decluttering a little bit at a time, but consistently every day, is how Cas the clutterbug is retraining my brain to view decluttering as a positive, dopamine producint activity. I’m dubious but trying to cultivate and open mind …
Kay and Carol when the news broke about the high school shooting they only said there were casualties, no details [prayers for victims, families, faculty, first responders]
Pip safe travels and the colors on the tree planter.
Lisa I always seeing pics of your wedding and dress.
Tracey one Tuesday every month a crew of 5 or six gather in the youth building kitchen and prep 16 or 20 casseroles. We freeze all but 4 that are taken to our 7th day Adventist partners to heat and serve in their soup kitchen. This month it was Beanie Weenie with bacon garnish, Mexican Chicken, Biscuit topped Hamburger stew and Chinese Chicken Chow Mein. Unfortunately high sodium and not super healthy but hearty and we keep sneaking in more veggies and protein. . .
Well the Valium is kicking in, time to grab a few more zzzs before we leave for Grants Pass.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

I did a lot of decluttering in July and August ... entire van loads of stuff went to the tip.
Fridges are odd. We've hardly got anything in ours, and yet I can always find something that has expired. I swear they suck expired items in from other fridges in other parts of the world so that we can look at that jar of mouldy capers and wonder where on earth it came from.

Top of the morning to you from the Emerald Isle. It is set fair for a mild autumnal day here.
Heather: I can feel the joy in your posts from here as you resume your normal pursuits.
Lanette: I have my wedding outfit somewhere. I always sparks joy in my heart when I come across it, so it makes the cut.
Lisa: I love your wedding dress. Any little (or for that matter big) girl would feel like a princess in it. I remember when you posted it from when here before
Machka: Your fridge comment has me giggling. I’m going to go see if I have any interlopers lurking at the back of my fridge
Michele: Hurray! For the oven.
Monday was full on, but so enjoyable. I have Shakespeare study today after lunch, and Parchment Craft tomorrow afternoon. Autumn is definitely here.
Virtual (((hugs))) and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

So sorry about the tragedy at Apalachee. That the shooter himself is only 14 makes it even worse somehow. So many ripples overwhelming far, far too many families from this. 😢4

Barbara AHMOD-yes, I went to an audiologist group since there does not appear anything abnormal about ears other than age! I will check for the balance of D and K-the PA and I did discuss that and since they are more a functional medicine practice I think they pay attention.
Went to podiatrist yesterday. Since I have been working on overall leg stability some of the foot pain is reduced. I am able to isolate two spots-one in the joint closest to nail of big toe-this is where the "foreign object" was picked up. The other area is the top of the foot. They are scheduling MRI to get better look. Doctor and I discussed this approach several months ago and I decided it was time to move forward. I am happy she did not offer any objection-she seems to believe that patients need to let doctor know when it is time for somethings. I do not disagree with her.
Meeting this morning (actually I have two but a second one came up that will knock out the first due to importance. Dental appointment for implant final placing at 1:30-hopefully it goes well. Dentist sent first back due to dissatisfaction with product. Depending on when I get out I may just go and finish workday from home (dentist closer to home than office).
Take care all,

Good morning beautiful ladies!
So sad about the shooting in Georgia.
Barbara glad Moochie came right home. Me too about hating gym class. They often made me take my glasses off, so much for hand eye coordination. I'm just glad all that is over and had nothing to do with life after school. I do okay at shooting pool, but anything that requires a ball and response time is too hard for me.
So now I have glorious music easily available, as well as podcasts. Yay! I did learn yesterday that I can't talk with my earbuds in, because I can't hear other speech. Plus I have to figure out a charging routine. The case is like a battery, so I can charge the case and then that charges the earbuds. Funny how they expect us to know that.
But I still am having my morning tea in the quiet.
Have a marvelous day ladies! May you be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Morning, my kidlin's, from the pre-dawn darkness of the Arkansas River Valley, where the cool mornings are the harbinger of autumn. That fresh breeze makes me so grateful for the changing of the season, welcome relief from the heat and dust of summer.
Love, love, love seeing the wedding dresses - have included a couple pictures of my first one in the spoiler, with a little explanation... There's always a story in my life, isn't there!🤔👀🤣 Hopefully it brings a smile, as I think we can all use one...I feel like Sophia in Golden Girls--
Soooo... picture it, Sussex County, England, 1980, stationed at Royal Air Force Base Lakenheath, supporting the USAF 48th Fighter Wing, who flew F-111F fighter/bombers. Met my soon-to-be husband while we were both working at the 48th Medical Group Hospital there. The gentleman in the first two pictures is actually my psychiatrist. The same one who advised me NOT to get married, and that marrying was only adding one more person to the problem... but, since we were all about 5,000 miles from home, he also agreed to give me away at the wedding. Seriously good guy. The look on my face BEFORE we walked down the aisle says it all - "Holy guacamole, WHAT have I got myself into?" The look on my face in the picture with my just-married-to husband is because, other than on the baseball field or golfing, he was a complete klutz, and I expected to be wearing that glass of red wine he was holding in the picture. He didn't spill it in the end, but the shrink was absolutely right. It just took me 28 years to figure it out.
So... I'm slow.
One thing I finally figured out (I did say I'm slow! 🤪) is that when I wear the compression socks, my knees get torqued. Possibly because it changes my gait due to the compression at the ankles? Not really sure... however, the answer seems to be, once my ankles start swelling, move into the living room and work on some of the crafts (like the pumpkins or beaded stuff) where I can get my feet up above my heart. And wear the compression socks for short periods of time, only when I'm not going to be walking around a lot.
It would be helpful if all this stuff wasn't interconnected, you know? Like being able to fix the edema with compression socks without causing knees to get all wonky? 🤔👀 But no...🤣😹
Anyway - a busy morning ahead. Got a lot of the pre-ironing done for the bags I'm making... and figured out that, as long as I use my personal name for my business work, I only need to get a sales tax license, which I definitely CAN get online. If I want to sell under a different name (like LCH Creations), I have to get a DBA, including a notarized form, and register it with the county. Still debating. I have a Federal Tax ID from when we were selling things out of the warehouse, but only have to use that if I have employees. Not doing that, thank you very much.
So a couple hours of sewing, then down to Walmart to pick up a couple things and a quick run through Aldi to pick up fresh mushrooms. One more form of decluttering for the month of September (don't tell Corey! 🤣) is that we're trying to get through September building main dishes out of the freezer. Too easy to buy meat fresh and forget what's in there. Tonight is shrimp for me and pork chops for Corey. Tomorrow, I'm going to make a stab at foccacia bread pizza crust and par-bake it to get it ready for dinner. We want to go back to homemade pizza, mushrooms and pepperoni for me, and onions, peppers, hamburger, and every other thing he can think of for Corey. We're both sick of the frozen ones. They're edible, but nothing like we're capable of making for ourselves. I'll be reducing Corey's canned marinara into a pizza sauce as well.
Time to get moving! Hope it's a good day,
Love,
Lisa in AR7 -
Barbie ... thanks for moving us into September! Glad Jake has a ride for the appointment.
Lisa ... your day reminded me of the story "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie!"
Carol ... you were a beautiful bride! As were Lisa and Heather! I love the photos of the wedding dresses. I still have my dress ... I'll have to see if I have a photo somewhere.
Lost 3 pounds in August, but it's still part of the yo-yo weight. Trying to eat better. Goals for September are the same ... to be lighter.
Had a team meeting regarding my mom. All good news. She has adjusted well to the new facility. They find her engaging, pleasant, conversational, interested in others, etc. ... which is the mom I know. The social worker commented that she was completely surprised by how good my mom is cognitively given the reports she had received from the other facility. Telling, isn't it? Treat others how you would like to be treated ... makes a world of difference.

Heather - Beautiful wedding photo.
I find I putter a lot during tv commercials if I’m just watching tv without it being recorded. It helps keep things in order.
Barbara - Moochie sure is listening well.
I was like you with recess and gym. I still am not athletic and absolutely detest anything where others will see me working out. It’s really not a good thing.
Thats a good idea for the casserole a thon. I was thinking of when you make so many of one kind and then all trade like a cookie swap. 😂
Good luck on your surgery.
Carol - Also a beautiful photo
Lisa - I for one love the stories. I think in another life I would love to somehow just listen to stories of how others live and lived.
I have gotten so pizza is not one of my go to’s anymore. Rodger could switch between burgers and pizza and be quite happy, I’m finding nothing very appealing these days.
Beth - what great feedback on your mom.
Since we’re all sharing, this is a couple pictures of our wedding and the shadowbox and scrapbook page I’ve made with my dress. My Dad actually arrived to give me away, he surprised me with my favourite Aunt, he didn’t think he would be able to. He reluctantly gave me away, after trying to convince me to get in the car to go back to NB with him. I don’t know if he ever really accepted Rodger, but when Rodger surprised him one year with a wooden puzzle thing he turned a corner. I think we were married about 20 years at that point. 😂
I am awake over an hour earlier than I need to be. I’m not sure what to do with the time so have caught up with you lovely ladies while I still lay in bed.
My alarm will be going off in about 10 minutes so I think I’ll just get up.
Tracey in Edmonton8 -
Tracey ... Great photos and what a fantastic way to remember your dress with the scrapbook idea!
Ok, so I'm sitting here just fed up with my inconsistent efforts to lose weight and I got sucked into the Noom ad on Facebook. Went through the whole question thing to see how much it cost. I am such a cheapskate ... refused to pay $189+. I can guarantee you that they won't provide as much information as Margaret and Lanette! I didn't do it.
