Ahhhh, I'm so happy to be in the green again. This tool works for me. Visual tools help me.
My husband had his friends over, and they had laid out a minefield of really junky snacks. They were having fun and enjoying their visit, but I was starting to be drawn to the chips, so I took off for a long walk up the hill. I had dance music in my headphones which kept me going at a good clip.
The snacks were cleaned up and put away by the time I got home. Disaster averted!😅

Hi. I’m an unretired (by choice) senior from central B.C., Canada. Back for another round. After being an absolute backsliding turtle for the past ?18 months, my Ultimate challenge goal is to lose 20lbs.

Week 7:
Day 43 ~ 06/26: 178.4, a gain which I felt happening yesterday. Focus today is to get this off. Adding salads to weiner roast dinner plans. Thankfully my hip pain has lessened to just the usual discomfort so will work in a session on my stationery bike.
Day 44 ~ 06/27: 178.6 Baking for luncheon tomorrow. Indulged in white bread & marg, my krypto.
Day 45 ~ 06/28: 178.2 Pot luck at memorial luncheon. No exercise per se.
Day 46 ~ 06/29: 177.8 On day 13 of keeping a complete food journal; a few days have gone off the rails but still just recording what I’ve consumed is a “win” for me. Have a friend staying over tomorrow night so wine will be involved but hoping to keep as per my plan so all’s within points by day’s end. Working later today; always a bit of a challenge getting thru dinner hour, serving a Sunday -type dinner w/o caving in to the urge of “just a small plate”. Mowing lawn is planned exercise today.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
My goal from the very beginning has been to lose one pound per week for a total of 12 pounds per challenge. I have never considered that to be too much and I never thought in a million years I would find it this difficult, even at my age and with my health problems. But it’s proved to be nothing but an uphill climb and in most cases, impossible. I am going to lower my goal to 10 pounds per challenge and see if that will feel more right, more do-able. This breaks down to 0.7 lbs per challenge week. I don’t think that is too much to ask of my mind, my body and my spirit! I, again, thank you for sharing my journey with me and allowing me to travel with you on yours. It is reassuring, refreshing, enlightening and inspiring and I am forever grateful.

Day 45—06/28—191.2 ❌ - (Trend Weight: 191.0) What a disappointment! I was well under calories yesterday (988). My carbs were within my limits and made up of healthy carefully chosen items. Contributing factors are likely a lack of sleep last night (5 hours), a very late dinner (11:30 pm ) and no TMI this morning. I am a night owl and my dinner is usually at about 8:30 or 9:00 pm. However, the pork loin just wasn’t cooking as fast as it should have been on the inside. It did finally get done but is my oven okay? I guess I will find out in the days/weeks to come. Most days are just too hot to turn the oven on right now. Anyway, hopefully things will settle in so I can meet my weekly goal. At today’s weight I would have to lose nearly 2 pounds in the next 4 days which is highly unlikely unless it is a TMI issue. Fingers crossed!
🏊♀️🏊♀️🏊♀️🏊♀️🏊 Day 46—06/29—188.8 ✅ - (Trend Weight: 190.8) Go figure. Weight was easy up yesterday and easy down today with nothing different or unusual either way. Still no TMI today x 2 or x3. I can’t even remember which now. However, I did get more sleep last night. Dinner was still very very late (11:30 pm). I was so busy and so angry about it that I ate 5 extra crackers in my soup because I was being defiant, stubborn and acting like a toddler I suppose. That put me a bit over on my carbs but my calories were still well within limits. No time for exercise either which was disappointing. My daughter made an Alfredo concoction and I am proud that I did not eat it (which is one reason my dinner was so late). The Alfredo would have been a lot of calories (carbs would have been ok) but the pasta would have been a carb disaster. At least there is that….

BOD increased their price last year when they merged BOD and BODi. I think they lost quite a few subscribers. This year, they offered all kinds of discounts. I did an early renewal last fall for pretty close to what the price used to be. My favourite program is MBF + MBFa. I just finished two rounds of MBF + MBFa (total 12 weeks). I like to change up the program I'm doing at least every 12 weeks. I've only done 9WCF once before in 2022. I'm only in week 2 right now, so far not that hard. I tried Morning Meltdown, it is too dance-y for me; I have two left feet. At the time, I found it too hard. Maybe one day I'll go back to it. The best part about BOD programs is the calendar… I don't have to think, just click play.

@age_is_just_a_number MBF was great. I really liked that instructor, and I did like the calendar. I had to cut back on subscriptions a while back when I got laid off. I started leaning on Apple Fitness Plus and realized I liked their health and fitness apps a great deal. It keeps me coming back in much the same way, and they've removed the "friction" from starting a workout. It's so easy to fire the thing up and get it done.
I loved the instructor from MM100: Jericho. I think they started selling individual programs again. I should see if I could buy just that one series. I miss it so much.

I realized I double entered an item on Saturday. I've corrected my calories IN.
Sunday was another unusual day. I picked up the garbage in the park behind our house and exercised. Then we went to Cabbagetown for a ROM walking tour. The tour was interesting. But it was hot and I didn't eat enough before we went, so was hungry by the end. We went looking for something to eat and landed in the middle of the Toronto Pride festival. Both of our daughters are lesbian, we are open-minded, but it was loud and busy. Just before we got to the subway, we spotted a quiet Gelato shop… so gelato it was! Then on our way home, we stopped at Davisville to buy two butter tarts at Circles and Squares. They won the Ontario butter tart festival this year. So, we HAD to try them. Hands down, best butter tart I've ever had! Calories IN were on the high side, but so were calories OUT. I've been consistently high on my calories IN this week. No more wine, gelato or butter tarts this week!

@deepwoodslady Sorry to hear about the medical insurance. I'm Canadian, we have universal healthcare, but not everything is included. However, treatment at a chiropodist for an ingrown toenail would be.

Yes, me too. I tried gyms a couple of times, but it wasn't for me. Having to get dressed and go somewhere can be time consuming. Public showering is not for me. If you are home and have 10 minutes you can fit in a bit at home. For me that it like 3 Fitness Marshall songs. I remember years ago being out for a walk about and passing a gym where people were walking on a treadmill looking out the window at people walking. That was a surreal experience. I know several people who go to the gym and it is fabulous for them and they love it for fitness and un-interupted time for themselves. I truly tried. I hit on something that enriches me in so many ways, dance. It is different for every individual - finding something that they love and look forward to. Also, as I thought about what would be my ideal shape it would be that of a dancer. A little long in the tooth now to really look like that, but I am pleased with so many of the effects of doing it. I have learned some moves 😅 I quite honestly do a great deal of it at my primary job staff table on my phone - before customers come in or on a dead day. Yesterday I did 65 minutes of 3 minute songs altogether because it was so quiet. On days off I do at least 3-6 songs to prepare my body for the physical demands of digging pushing pulling squatting lunging etc. in the yard/garden, or ice skating or cross country skiing in the winters. I was doing a 60 minute Heather Robertson with weights at least one day a week for a couple of years, but the arthritis in all of my joints really doesn't respond well to that type of thing so it has gone by the wayside for now. Plus I just don't have the time to spare at this juncture. Fitting one or 2 songs in here and there throughout the day really works for me, and adds up.

@deepwoodslady As I see everyone steadily losing (or gaining) by intervals of .2 or .5, there is you and I always going up and down 3lbs in a day sigh. We have been doing this together for years Donna. How appreciative I was to have you during the 2020 lockdowns. Good job on not indulging in the food that your daughter made. Tough choice, but maybe the first step to overcoming what she brings each weekend and realizing that you don't have to have any of it. Nice drop on the scale for you today : - )

I am Dawn. I live in SE British Columbia Canada. I am 5'2" (or 5'3"?) and 64 years of age. I have done a bunch of these 100s now, I have lost count lol. I was sitting at 130 for quite awhile, trying desperately to get into the 120s, but gained little by little over the last couple of years. My "ideal" weight should be between 110-118 for my height, BMI, and stuff. At this point I just really want to get back into the 130s.

Day 43—06/26— 140.2 - 2 jobs yesterday and again today. Lots that I want to accomplish before work this morning. 5 more days until 1 day off : - ) 35 days in a row seemed daunting, but one foot in front of the other. I will be happy for the paycheques and lieu days.
Day 44—06/27— 139.0 - The girl that was away at my primary job is back. I have just a short shift today since she will cover the evening portion, and then I have splits the next 2. I will have, and take! some lieu day for sure to get to the lakes while it is hot. 4 more days until a day off : - ) Tonight I am having champagne with a friend after my pedicure, which was postponed since Monday because I ended up working too late to get the visit in. I have been in a "zone" to work like I have been. Property taxes are due, so all of that extra will be eaten up, but all good.
Day 45—06/28— 139.0 - No weight backlash from the champagne last early evening. Had a beautiful pedicure beforehand, the woman who does my feet is a nurse and really gets right in there, very needed. Split shift today. I have my list for this morning and my list for my 2 hour break later. Garlic scapes are beginning to curl, 2 curls and they have to be cut. I give them to my neighbour who makes stuff with them.
Day 46—06/29— 140.0 - Surprised by this jump in weight, pretty much a perfect day food and exercise wise. I suppose that it is the champagne from a couple of days ago. Maybe a better weight tomorrow morning, but I am having company Monday after work for Mojitos with mint from my garden…and snacks. Then….an actual day off!! I got the scapes cut during my break. Today during my break a friend is coming to dig up some of my way too spread bearded irises. I was looking for a taker. I will need to quickly put on some gardening clothes and then he will arrive and we will start digging.
As for my day off, there are giant weeds in my potato garden. 9 rows, so it will likely take all day, which I will love. They are way taller than the potatoes, especially on the left side. It will be a challenge to pull them and not have the potato plants pull out at the same time. It is a day-off type of job only, not to be done a bit here and there. I will enjoy it, but I just haven't been able to keep up because of the lack of days off. This will serve as the before picture:
Day 47—06/30— 140.2 - ?? I don't get the gain at all this time. : - ( I was hoping for a buffer since tonight will be Mojitos from my garden mint. I do enjoy alcohol, but try to limit it for weight reasons. I normally remove the photos in my posts the next day, but I am going to leave the above because my plan is to remove those very tall and strong weeds out of there. Hopefully a good after photo by Wednesday morning.
In the meantime, this is a few areas of my garden this morning. My garden is not manicured at all, it is like a jungle. I am never planning on making it look manicured, but I am definitely planning on eating it all. I took a whole bunch of tender beet greens yesterday, rinsed them in the salad spinner and then put them into the freezer. I love to julien them whilst frozen and then add them to stuff.

@dawnbgethealthy Yea, a 3 lb overnight gain is a real thing for sure. That's why I like to reach that magical 7 in every new decade so I have that cushion.
In regards to gym: I would definitely go to one if we had anything like that in this one-horse old wild, wild west town of mine. Or a pool, or a community center of any kind! I would go because it would be a novelty, of course, but also because I am just too distracted and interrupted at home. It would be such a great way to get it all in. Also, they have ALL the equipment (and space) I just don't have for all their many many machines! Honestly, I would love it.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
My goal from the very beginning has been to lose one pound per week for a total of 12 pounds per challenge. I have never considered that to be too much and I never thought in a million years I would find it this difficult, even at my age and with my health problems. But it’s proved to be nothing but an uphill climb and in most cases, impossible. I am going to lower my goal to 10 pounds per challenge and see if that will feel more right, more do-able. This breaks down to 0.7 lbs per challenge week. I don’t think that is too much to ask of my mind, my body and my spirit! I, again, thank you for sharing my journey with me and allowing me to travel with you on yours. It is reassuring, refreshing, enlightening and inspiring and I am forever grateful.

I can’t even remember which now. However, I did get more sleep last night. Dinner was still very very late (11:30 pm). I was so busy and so angry about it that I ate 5 extra crackers in my soup because I was being defiant, stubborn and acting like a toddler I suppose. That put me a bit over on my carbs but my calories were still well within limits. No time for exercise either which was disappointing. My daughter made an Alfredo concoction and I am proud that I did not eat it (which is one reason my dinner was so late). The Alfredo would have been a lot of calories (carbs would have been ok) but the pasta would have been a carb disaster. At least there is that….
🏊♀️🏊♀️🏊♀️🏊♀️🏊 Day 47—06/30—189.0 ❌ - (Trend Weight: 190.5) Wow, did my legs fill with fluid by last night! That explains the uptick on the scale as it was a pretty perfect day otherwise. I know I am supposed to be taking a prescribed water pill due to heart issues but who has time to stay by the toilet to pee every 10 minutes (no exaggeration!)? I probably take it about twice per month feeling many times I don’t really need it. However, last night it was definitely pooling at my ankles and in my abdomen so I plan on taking it today. Perhaps that will make a difference on the scale tomorrow. Fluid is not fat so if I lose that I can get a better pic of where I really am. I really want that magical 7 !!! I’ll try to stay compliant although I hit the floor hungry today from the minute I awoke. That usually means there was a weight loss and my body rebelling by getting overly hungry. I will try to choose foods wisely and stay on track.

Day 43—06/26— Forgot to weigh myself, but its ok. It was a much better day. The temperature was about 15⁰ lower and the a/c cooled things off just fine. I got to the grocery store and got more salad greens and veggies and strawberries. I also picked up a new bathing suit I ordered from Macy's. I was so pleased as to how it looked on me! Five more pounds and it will be perfect, but I can still wear it. No plus size suits anymore!

Day 45—06/28— 167.8 - I am amazed at how well my sugar numbers have been since I stopped taking the mealtime insulin and just doubled up on the metformin. Its mostly when I eat right, but I do that most of the time anyway, but if I splurge, its not as effective. That's to be expected, though. Not having to inject insulin all the time works for me.

@age_is_just_a_number & @dawnbgethealthy it’s simply a matter of getting 2+ fruit servings, 3+ veggie servings of which at least two cups are salad, drinking 6-8 cups of water and then eating other healthy sensible foods like lean meats and fish and beans and rice and potatoes, etc, with a daily treat or two of a frozen yogurt or hot cocoa. When I eat this way the weight goes down. I have about 1500 calories of food on average. Some days 1700-1800, some days a bit 1200-1300. I can eat 1500 “bad” quality calories and not lose anything or I can eat 1500 “good food” calories with those fruits and vegetables and lean meats/fish. It’s up to me. I’m currently in a eat healthy mode.

I'm not going to make my week 7 goal, but I feel good. It is hard to believe that on day 44 I wrote that I felt confident about meeting my week 7 goal. Perhaps I was overly confident and took my eye off the ball? IN were on average, too high this week. It gives me a glimpse into future maintenance calories; maybe? I cannot change yesterday, but I can change today and tomorrow and the next day….

@dawnbgethealthy Yes to the dancing, and I'm glad you found your thing! I love Fitness Marshall and I enjoy dance workouts as well. I'm not subscribed to Fitness Marshall, but I love Dance with Ben on Apple Fitness plus. The other glorious thing about dance workouts is that you can truly dance as if no one is watching. It lifts my spirits.
