    Hi. I’m an unretired (by choice) senior from central B.C., Canada. Back for another round. After being an absolute backsliding turtle for the past ?18 months, my Ultimate challenge goal is to lose 20lbs ←- Update: this isn't going to happen but 10 would be awesome!!

    Hi everyone.

    I am Dawn. I live in SE British Columbia Canada. I am 5'2" (or 5'3"?) and 64 years of age. I have done a bunch of these 100s now, I have lost count lol. I was sitting at 130 for quite awhile, trying desperately to get into the 120s, but gained little by little over the last couple of years. My "ideal" weight should be between 110-118 for my height, BMI, and stuff. At this point I just really want to get back into the 130s.

    Week 1 Start Weight: 144.4

    Week 1 Goal: 142.4 (seems lofty, but I was at 143.0 for two days in a row at the end of the last 100)

    Week 1 Actual Weight: 144.2- Hit 142.6 this week, the day before the end of our week, which was so close to my goal.

    Week 2 Start Weight: 143.2

    Week 2 Goal: 142.4 - Trying for the same goal as last week

    Week 2 Actual Weight: 143.0 (Once in 100 days Ribs eaten, hit 142.2 this week)

    Day 64—07/17— 140.4 - Very disappointed to see this number for the beginning of this new week. Maybe too few calories yesterday? 1066. Up very early, so I know that is a factor, plus no TMI until after coffee, which is also a factor. I will just keep plugging. 2 jobs today, but lots to accomplish this morning before that. I have my list : - )

    Day 65—07/18— 138.4 - Unfortunate that the beginning and the end of week seem to be when my weight calculates the highest. I realize that it is the numbers over time, but it still sucks. I left work at my second (third really) job almost as soon as I got there. The owner/chef's young wife sometimes decides to stay, she starts at 8am. She did so yesterday, 3 tables came in and she proclaimed that she was taking all of them. I'm like "what am I even here for?" and left. Actually it turned out to be glorious. I was home at 4:15 and into my gardening clothes and out into the yard by 4:30. I stopped at 7:30 feeling so happy. I would have still been at work, seething : - ) I have had to turn down shifts in the dining room of the retirement/long term care place, Joseph Creek every time that I work at the small restaurant. I had already given my notice at the small restaurant with the intent of ramping up my shifts at the LTC place - they pay $7 per hour more, the cash tips are the difference maker - as long as I get tables that is. I am scheduled for 5 more weeks at the little restaurant, but am thinking of just pulling the plug there now. I will ruminate on it for a few days. So that is me this morning. I had the electrician here super early, I had to have the ballast replaced on the fixture over my kitchen sink. So happy to have that light back : - )

    Little update re:
    I have a doctor's appointment today to talk about my high cholesterol. I will likely come home with a prescription for a statin. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I feel like we have a pretty solid diet. But all the research I've done has indicated that most cholesterol in our bodies is actually manufactured by our bodies and high cholesterol is more genetic than diet.

    My doctor said, I'm borderline regarding needing a statin and definitely no med changes before our trip. So, redo blood work in October (a month after the cruise to recover from cruise food) and then reevaluate.

    @Crochetluvr Enjoy your time with family! We are 'online only' and you can catch up with us after they've headed back home.

    @dawnbgethealthy Good luck with your rumination about the little restaurant. Sounds to me like they don't get sufficient table turns to warrant having you there. Congratulations on getting your kitchen light fixed. Good lighting makes such a difference.

    Thoughts at the start of this round:

    My goal from the very beginning has been to lose one pound per week for a total of 12 pounds per challenge. I have never considered that to be too much and I never thought in a million years I would find it this difficult, even at my age and with my health problems. But it’s proved to be nothing but an uphill climb and in most cases, impossible. I am going to lower my goal to 10 pounds per challenge and see if that will feel more right, more do-able. This breaks down to 0.7 lbs per challenge week. I don’t think that is too much to ask of my mind, my body and my spirit! I, again, thank you for sharing my journey with me and allowing me to travel with you on yours. It is reassuring, refreshing, enlightening and inspiring and I am forever grateful.

    Day 64—07/17— DNW 💠 (Trend Weight: DNW) Woke up running. Did not think to weigh. Home pretty late. Too tired to exercise. Reading posts then laying down to relax!

    🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️Day 65—07/18—190.6 ✅ (Trend Weight: 191.1) Not too shabby after the late lunch yesterday at the all-you-can-eat buffet Golden Corral. My quantity/serving sizes were good. My choices were not so good. I don’t eat salad so everything else on the buffet pretty much doesn’t fit my plan so I enjoyed but watched how much went on the plate. Superman was meh…okay. I’m a HUGE fan so I was a little disappointed. The chosen actors were spot on – great! The story line left much to be desired IMHO. And just not enough history/lead when introducing new generations to the Superhero. I think my 3 DGS’s were a little lost but all enjoyed the constant action of the film. Not enough Clark Kent IMHO. Anyway, I’m going to get a copy of the 1978 Superman with Christopher Reeve as it was the best and began my own love and understanding of Superman! Looks like a movie night in the near future for DGS’ and myself!

    More than ever, I need to focus on my health. I know what to do, I just need to work on consistency.

    Week 10

    Day 64—07/17—143.9  For the past week and a half, I’ve been consistent with getting in at least 30–45 minutes of daily physical activity, and I’m hoping to keep that going. Food choices can be tricky, though. I do have two planned dining-out occasions this weekend that I’ll need to be mindful of.

    Yesterday’s exercise: 20-min cycling, 45-min brisk dog walk. Leg extensions to strengthen my knees. 5-min stretch.

    Day 65—07/18—144.5 Guess this uptick shouldn’t surprise me. Cocktails and pasta last night, with a bit of an unhealthy snack. There’s also dinner with friends tonight. I need a workout today.

    I'm a bit relieved with today's scale, I was getting worried that I was losing too fast. Fluctuations are normal and today I'm normal. 7 day trend heading downwards. Heading to ROM members get in free to the Aga Khan Museum today. Got to run, I'll read everyone's posts after we return home.

    My weight dropped today but I really don't know what that means since I forgot to weigh yesterday. Only that it is lower than my last weigh-in day before yesterday. Will the foods I chose catch up to me tomorrow, perhaps. Or did I do okay? I guess we will see

    Did you stay within your calorie goal?

    One day does not define us. It is the trend that matters.

    Meh… a bit off course yesterday. I was so mentally exhausted and a bit sleep deprived, but didn't veer too far off course.

    I slept well last night. I should be able to keep it together today.

    @age_is_just_a_number Yes, I do log everyday (unless I go to a restaurant out-of-town). Yesterday, prior to the drop I ate within calorie goal but on the higher end of it than I usually reach. (1300 + calories out of allotted 1400). However, I knew that I went way over on my carbs, which was two days in a row on that, so I wasn't sure about any of it. I track my calories, carbs, protein, sodium and fiber on the free mfp. BTW, very interesting on the 1099 article. All the same concepts of today, right down to the laughing and joy which affects or cortisol !

    Great. If you’re following you plan even 80% of the time, then progress will come. Don't worry about the daily fluctuations.

    Day 66 ~ 07/19: Road trip followed by 4 hr work shift. Waaay too many carbs then hit with a sweet craving. Thankfully only ate half of the decadent brownie. Yea Me!!

    Day 67 ~ 07/20: 176.6 Avoiding carbs today in hopes of staving off a gain from yesterday. In addition to work and home, I have two big projects 'on the go'; my mind is tired, body is 'surviving', feel like I'm just treading water. But if I say anything to anyone their response is "just quit working!!!!"; but they don't get that 'work' is what helps me from 'getting owned' by family members.
