:flowerforyou: we're happy here
Marie is OK, the heat wave is over, we had bok choy from a friend's garden for dinner and we finished our wills and will be meeting with the lawyer tomorrow.
Early to bed and early to rise makes you healthy, wealthy, and wise    :yawn:0 -
Hi everyone! Back to rain here although there is talk of very hot later in the week. I think I need to find a sweater tonight though. Maybe it will send me to bed earlier. Neil has been accepted to move into the group home and his date to move is Sept. 7. He is very excited. Dave and I will have to finish shopping when I get back from Winnipeg as the rest of the week looks busy. I saw the Dr. today and he sprayed my dry skin lesions again. Most of them had scabbed over from last time and the scabs had fallen off but he felt they needed a bit more help. It really stung with that fresh baby skin there. The Dr. said he knew it hurt as he has had it done as well. It did hurt but I hung in there. At the end he said 'thanks for not screaming'. I had to laugh but I guess some do scream. Other than that nothing much happening around here. My garden is doing well. I must get the strawberries picked before I go to Winnipeg as I know they won't get picked while I am away. I picked a nice zucchini today so should find something to do with it tomorrow.
Marie -- So glad nothing is broken. I can only imagine how much it hurt on the x-ray table. I am so sorry that you had to go through that. Perhaps it is time for a scooter for you.
Barbie -- Glad your garden is doing well. My tomatoes are coming along but are a long way from red.
Gigi -- How are you?
Birdie -- You did a very wise thing with the treats!
Sandy -- Did you have fun on your outing today? It sounded fun to me!!
Sandi -- Are you feeling better now that you are home?
Marilyn -- Sounds like an entertaining time with your animals! I hope your Mom is doing ok.
Jeffrey -- How is the job hunt going?
Beth -- Are you still running?
Barb -- Hope you are well.
Irene -- You are in my thoughts every day. Take care.
If I missed someone, so sorry. I hope you are all well. Take care and keep smiling. Gayla0 -
Just checking in as I said I would.:ohwell: The scale was up 2 pounds, which was no suprise.
I'm going to step back and regroup about my food choices and make a few changes. According to MFPs total sugar intake....I'm over before breakfast is done! Isn't 25 grams a day low????
I have 3/4 C of Honey nut cheerios with a banana, 1/2 C of 1% milk and an Activia yougurt.:ohwell: May need to rethink that one but I've been doing it for over a year and lost all that weight:huh: Hmmm..... Sometimes it's time to turn a new page and try something else. I think the time has come.
Have a great day everyone. (I'm at work....as usual...so this needs to be brief).
God Bless all!

Happy Wednesday Everyone!!
Our outing was great at Medieval Times, our knight was knocked out of the tournament on the first round, but his ally won the match and saved the day!!!! Eating food with your hands and no silverware is messy but fun, our wench was nice and our fairy drink server was good. All in all we had a great time.
Birdie, I agree sometimes you have to change it up. I also am stuck on the same breakfast for years, but mine is cheerios with a banana without any sugar so it seems to work for me. I do switch and have a wheat bagel or english muffin, but my son is adament about no white flour. I listen sometimes but not always.  Changing up exercise is also a good idea so you work other muscles and tone new areas. I give a good speech but don't follow my own advice all the time.
Gayla, happy for Neil I bet he is excited about moving into the new home. Is the new medicine working with his seizures? What ever the doctor sprayed sounds painful, but if it helps we are tough women. The shots he gives me in my knees are painful but worth it. Someone asked me today if I am going for a second opinion for the knee replacement and in all honesty I hadn't thought about that, I really like my doctor so much and trust his opinion.
Marie, I agree with Gayla and glad nothing is broken, I hope you are able to get the scooter for your own safety. We all love you so much and don't want any more falls from you.
Barbie, I wish I would learn to go to bed early, I stay up too late and then I am tired every day.
Sandi, glad I made you chuckle, I just am not good on making big decisions. Still haven't set the permanent date, waiting to see when my husband's daughter is coming for a visit and then her husband might come after that. (they never travel together because of all of their cats and critters). :noway:
Marilyn, glad your mom is doing a little better. It sounds like fun with the cats and dogs in your life. They sure do a good job in keeping us smiling don't they?
Jeffrey, I am hoping this MIA is a good thing, possibly a job. Please don't come back with any bad news, only smiley faces.
Very tired today, did not sleep well. Daisy got groomed today, the cleaning girl is here and I would love to take a nap. The groomer had the cutest shoes from sketcher and I told her I have to have them. They are glittery gym shoes but so cute!!! Hope I get the ambition to run to the mall for them.
Have a great day.

Birdie,
Regarding breakfast, here are some ideas to lower the sugar. If you want to continue w/yogurt, I recommend the Yoplait non-fat Greek yogurt. I add a packet of Truvia (Stevia sweetener), but you could put some fruit in it if you wished, also. For cereal, I would recommend comparing your Cheerios to a Kashi cereal, like the High Fiber High Protein, and see if you can save some sugar that way.
Another option would be a whole wheat mini bagel with some almond butter or peanut butter. You could do fruit with this as well. I think these options might help you save some sugar. Good luck.
Marie,
Hope you are feeling better.
Sandy,
Sounds like your meal was an "adventure."
Gayla,
I know you have mixed emotions about Neil moving, on one hand, it will be a great opportunity for him and an empty nest for you, but on the other hand, it will be "different" having the empty nest, and you will, no doubt, miss each other.
I have to get going as today is shopping day for my parents.
Barb0 -
Thanks for all the tips on breakfast ideas! I keep hearing about Greek yougurt but have never tried it. I guess I should look into it! As far as the almond butter...it sounds great but awful rich! Do you count it as a protein? I find that, besides the sugar issue...I also get hungry by 10AM. Maybe having more fat with the breakfast would keep me fuller? There's so much that I still need to learn and you ladies are such a great support. I just wish I could address each one of you individually but the time is not there! Sending hugs to all!!!!
Sandy hope you get a good night sleep tonight

Hello all,They will be out tomorrow to see about delivering the shooter chair. To see what all we need to do to handle it. I wish I HAD IT NOWThis chair is so uncomfortable and so hard for me to get out of.
Gayla I know Neil is excited about moving. I wish him the best.
Jeffrey you are beening missed around here.
Fixing to go to the kitchen and roast me some veggies. Frozen veggies work pretty good.
got to get moving if I sit here too long I can't get up See you all later. Marie0 -
Birdie,
2 TBLSP of Maranatha Almond Butter has 16 gr fat, and 7 gr of protein. The fat WILL help you stay satisfied, and it is mostly, Monounsaturated, with only 2 gr of saturated fat, and it has only 2 gr of sugar. :drinker: :drinker: It is very satisfying, and I usually only use one tablespoon at a time. If you combined this with some Greek yogurt and that mini bagel, or a sandwich thing (both 100 calories each, and good source of fiber and protein also) you would have a satisfying breakfast that won't be high in sugar.
Marie,
Sorry to hear you are having pain and trouble getting around. From your latest post, it sounds like the power chair you are looking at is a lifting chair, that helps you get up and out of the chair, as opposed to one intended for use instead of walking. Am I understanding correctly?
So long for now.
Barb0 -
Barbs it is surpose to be a power chair to get around in. They are on their way here now to get me fitted for one. and one I can get around in my house My house is kind of small. with. I do admit I need a power lift to help me get up, But if I don't sit too long it is not too bad I am sure Jerry will have to do some rearangingd. Talk to you later.0
-
Marie,
I realized after I read your post, that when you said "shooter" you really meant "scooter." The "shooter" made me think of something that would lift you up and out, like "shooting" you out of your chair. :ohwell:
If it will lessen the chances of you falling, it is certainly worth considering. Good luck!!

Hello every one, just me again. Well all things quiet, looks good, no news is good news. I feel bad for my mom, I think in her heart she is ready to escape this world, not so much the people and family, but how her health makes her feel. I pray every night she is lifted from here to there and is happy again.
Had a good day of eating, no bad things as yet. Trying to stick to raw vegetables as much as possible. They deliver a ton of vitamins etc to me that I can feel. I also have a better tunned "full stomach" gage when I eat them. Best cookie on earth that is good to mauw down is arrowroot. 30 cal. per cookie, not bad to have around when the bigger boom happens and no control is anywhere to be grabbed.
I've been reading Body Building .com to try to inspire myself, I saw some home gyms that are looking very professional. I would think the people who work out at home look like professional body builders. Some were basic, and yet from my own knowlege know they are getting a good bit of exercise out of them. I was hoping to find someone who had the machines I do, and chum up and share a few tips and tactics.
Have a great Friday, I"ll be around. Luv to all

I know exactly how you feel.:frown: My 91 year old MIL had a stroke and just lies there in bed heavily medicated because without the medication, she's in pain from muscles spasms. No way to live.
I also pray that she cross over the threshhold of this world, to the next, and not suffer. There is nothing we can do but be there for them and pray that the end....or perhaps I should say....a new beginning...would commence. My prayers are with you.
BirdieM:frown:0 -
Thanks BirdieM, Your MIL 91, wow, a long good life she has had. Yes you are right, at this stage life is not, and sometimes family out of fear or sympathy can't let their beloved go. I really don't know who it is the harder for.
Our prayers together will be stronger and a decision will be made.
Luv and strength to you and your family:flowerforyou:

Good luck with your new chair, Marie. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it!
BirdieM0 -
Hi everyone,
Marie, you will have a lot of fun in your chair, I work in a home and see a lot of people with these, they are very handy and safe.
Good luck with it. Will it go outside or is it strickly for indoors? I know of a lady, she goes to church with her's ( 1Mile) and all around the building she lives.
Well I'm trying to get some ink for my printer and the web site is taking forever and a day. I'm going to bed soon cause I have to get up for 3 am. Anyone here have a home gym with Weider equipment? I have a few things and the pictures on the instructions are not very clear. I am working around those for now but some I would like to try out. Anyone to help?
I'll be checking in again soon.
Luv to all

Hi everyone from smokey Saskatchewan. We are getting smoke from forest fires in Alberta. Last night we went to our annual Folkfest(ival). I did better than most years in the eating department. Neil went with his friend last night but the friend is going racing tonight so we will take him. I will try to behave myself but the food is very tempting. It is nice to try things from another country that you may not ever try otherwise. Last night we went to Germany, Ukraine, Caribbean, Philipines and called it a night. I am not sure where we are going tonight. I expect Scotland, Ireland and perhaps Hungary.
Marie -- It sounds like you are going to be very happy with your chair. You will make lots of friends when you are out and about. Is the butt feeling any better?
Barbie -- Have a wonderful holiday.
Take care everyone and keep smiling. Gayla0 -
Checking in a little late tonight, had a busy day. Marisa came about 9:30am, then we went and picked up another 5 year old and I took them to an indoor amusement park. We left there about 2:00 and went to the pool until 6:00pm. Cheryl came and took both girls home and I went home and made dinner. Watched a movie with my hubby and here I am.
Tomorrow they are putting down the tile in the basement and I can hardly wait. It is so bare down there and nothing is in it's place.
I managed to stay under calories with minimum exercise so that is a good thing.
Barbie, Have a wonderful trip and we won't be upset if you cheat a little. How exciting to see the new baby right after he is born, congratulations early!!
Marie, I hope you learn to handle your new scooter with no problem, it sounds exactly what you need.
Little tired to address all of you tonight, but am always happy to read your posts. Will talk more tomorrow.
Sandy0 -
:flowerforyou: Marie, good luck with your new chair.
:flowerforyou: I went to line dance this morning, then to work at the fair for five hours, cooked dinner, finished packing, read all the posts and now           :yawn:0 -

Gayla, if you eat food from all those other places, I don't think you will end up "Hungary!!"    Sorry, I couldn't help myself.:blushing:
Barb0 -
 Gayla, yes you will be very satisfied for sure, pick up some ideas for making some new meals that have a twist.
Barbie, have a great time, congrats on the baby! Take lots of pictures for us.
Looks like rain today, but that is okay. We need to get the rivers up before winter sets in, better ice fishing. My sis and her son are going to a pow wow today, never been to one. I will be at work, and with the staff we will be having our own pow wow:bigsmile:
Going down to the gym in the morn if I don't have a headache, just going to set the clothes and shoes ready and go!
Catch all of you soon, time to get moving.
Marilyn0 -
Happy Saturday!!!
There is already a problem with putting the tile down. The floor has to be cleaned up and smooth before laying the tile, our salesman thought it could be scrapped but the installer said he needs a machine to really get to the concrete. Oh well, what ever it takes as long as it gets done this week.
Gayla, I hope you had a good time at Folkfest, and Neil enjoyed himself. I especially loved and laughed at Barb's play on words, she is one funny lady.
Marilyn, I just looked at all your critters and one is cuter than the next. Where is the pow wow your sister and her son are going?
It is a gloomy day here this morning, we had rain during the night but I think it is supposed to clear up. I am hoping to just stay in and relax today since I am exhausted from yesterday's outing.
Marie, how are you and how is the back end?? :blushing: :blushing: :blushing:
Jake, please let us know everything is ok in Indiana.
Barbie and Jake, drive safe and have a wonderful trip. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
Have a great day!

:flowerforyou: we are at the Seven Feathers Casino Hotel in Canyonville, Oregon about seven hours south of where we live......we had tearful good-byes with the pets----we've never left them this long
:flowerforyou: After being on my feet so much the last two days, it was good to sit in the car while Jake drove.....in a few minutes I'm going to look for the fitness center.....i don't stay down for long....
:flowerforyou: we stopped at Subway twice today---veggie delight the first time and chicken and veggies the second time.
:flowerforyou: Sandy, you probably already know that remodeling always takes longer and makes a bigger mess than you expected...I wish you patience as you go through the mess
:flowerforyou: Gayla, good luck to you and Neil as he prepares for his new life adventure

Hi everyone. I am madly packing and have to call my sister but I wanted to pop in and tell you that early tomorrow morning I am on my way to Winnipeg, Manitoba. My sisters and I will be gab, gab, gabbing all the way for 11 hours on the train. I won't be back until next weekend and will not be taking a laptop so will be out of touch.
Have a great week everyone. Take care and keep smiling. Gayla0 -
Good Sunday morning all.
Looks like rain for the next week or two, hope it stays warm though, that makes it only half bad:laugh:
Sandy, My sister was going to Round Lake, it is about an hour away from here. She usually goes to Shannonville
to catch the show there, she has done so for a while now. Never been to one myself, but maybe next year I might have the time to do so.
:grumble: Up five pounds this week, in total from last week too. Not going to get down about it just try harder this week and next to get back to the 160's again. Got to find a book to dive into to help loose any stress I am having. I have lots around it is time to get sitting and read!:ohwell:
I'm officially a causual at my Part time job now, feels better somehow. But I'm sure if the shifts become available I will be putting in a good amount of time throughout the month. But, TO REMEMBER THAT I CHOSE TO GO CAUSUAL IS TO FIX MY BODY PARTS THAT ARE BREAKING DOWN, THE GYM IS WHERE I NEED TO BE !!! Don't forget that Marilyn, anyone please remind me of that sentence too if I am posting about working a lot. I'll print that off and post it around the house!
Well it's time to get the few dishes done and get ready for the day,
Luv to all
Marilyn0 -

Marie0 -
Hi everyone, just home, got the pets fed and pottied, me is fed too, yes I did go potty too.:blushing:
Quiet day on the board, everyone is enjoying their day it seems, good!
Rain is turned to a mist, felt so nice on the face walking out from a hot and sticky kitchen. Back to Tim's tomorrow and a cool 8 hours in the air conditioning, sore bones after work, but if the sun is out that really helps to lay on the lounge and soak the heat rays, soothes the aches.
Sierra is at my side and she is saying mom it's time for bed. She is right too.
So to all a good night and happy dreams.
