@cassandrarodriguez89, it's hard to tell a difference from your before with the sweater dress and you look like you started relatively lean, but I love the photoshoot and you look phenomenal! Especially for no photoshop. Cute skirt and you look great as a blond.2

I dont have any other pictures showing more skin because I hated being in a bikini, I had no abs so I was insecure

I started heavy lifting 2 months ago and I'm kicking myself for not taking photos then. I didn't realize how much of a difference it would make! I wish I'd started sooner. I've taken photos now and hope I get some of the same amazing results I see on this thread.6

Ok. Im not sure if this was covered or is a dumb question but I'll ask anyways. I'm in the obese category, 4'11 179lbs, so if i lift will that help me lose weight ore should i lose weight first and then tone up? Also should i consult a trainer at gym for this, bc never really lifted weights before as exercise.1

I started at 275 and have zero regrets about lifting from day 1. I'm currently 213 and starting to see those muscles. I hope to post in here when they actually start showing up in pictures. My weight loss has exceeded MFP's predictions. I could be a special snowflake, but I think it's the weight lifting boosting my losses. Even before I could see or feel what I was building under the fat I felt more strong and capable. Things like getting off a deep sofa or the floor and squatting down to get something from a low shelf became easy instead of a struggle that left me out of breath.9 -
I started lifting from day 1 when I was 110kg (240 pounds) and I don't regret it. I started lifting to help with an injury and just carried on with it. I'm now doing HIT as well plus the weights program I originally started with, plus pilates and zumba. Do what you enjoy because you're more likely to keep doing it. I love the feeling of doing the same weight as guys. I see them checking out how much I'm doing.6

for reference - i'm 5'10" - 66lbs down - size 12/14 to size 4/6.

No offense, but I am not blessed (in this regard, anyway ). I worked my *kitten* off lifting heavy freaking weights for 2.5 years to look like that.16 -

The answer is always, "LIFT NOW!!!" If you don't know what you are doing, and can afford a trainer, I would absolutely get one. Insist they teach you the form for squats, bench and deadlifts. If they want to keep you on the weight machines, they may not be the right trainer for the results you want.
Or, you can watch lots of videos on form, bodybuilding.com has a lot. Video yourself doing the lifts and post those videos in a thread here, asking for critiques. Start very low weight until your form is perfect.6 -

I had never considered weight training until last year and I absolutely love it! It's help me lose a bit more weight than if I was doing cardio alone. I don't look as amazing as some of the other woman here but I feel like I've toned up a lot more! My thighs are still a bit thick but I've found that I have a stronger lower body than my upper body and my thighs aren't as big as they used to be.
The one on the right is me at my prom when I was 17, around 3 years ago and the one of the left is me now. Still have quite a bit to go! And I feel like I'm currently stuck on a bit of a plateau

I stick to crossfit and I started out "skinny fat." The one on the right was a few years ago before I started and the one on the left was a few months ago.
These two are just favorites that show the size I've gained. Yay muscles.

I started my weight loss journey in 2014 at the age of 55 when I weighed 166 lbs. and my body fat was well over 35%. Little did I know I would start lifting weights at the end of that year. I got interested in powerlifting in October 2015 and by the fall of 2016 I had lost over 50 lbs and my body fat was down to 17%. But when I got down to 113 lbs. I started losing strength and last November I started bulking and I'm currently 138 lbs. Last month I participated in my 5th powerlifting meet in 9 months. My first meet I totaled 500 lbs. and my meet last month I totaled 600 lbs! I qualified for Women's Worlds from that meet.
When my body fat was only 17% I really loved my body, especially my quads and my arms lol. I lost a lot of that definition since I started bulking, but I'm trying to get stronger, not participate in a physique or bodybuilding show38 -

This is amazing- you all are AMAZING! I am not lifting at the moment, but I am doing bodyweight exercises (so maybe heavy lifting ) and I hope to transition to lifting at some point in the future (ideally when I can use a bar). But I am getting stronger for now

Wow, I keep up with this thread, and these last few pages have some AMAZING transformations! Well done, all of you!!!! You can definitely see the payoff for dedication, patience, and commitment. I've sort of lost my way re: weight lifting, I still do it but kind of half-arsed. Have to get back into the swing, and these photos really help!!3

Wow! Amazing job! You are a HUGE inspiration! If I'm as strong you when I'm in my 50's I'll be thrilled! Better get cracking, only a few years away...4 -
@PowerliftingMom - holy cow you are amazing! What an inspiration you are to all those women who think it's too late to start lifting. Your quads are to die for. And fantastic numbers at your meet!

First picture is from Sept '15 after I had graduated college and started working full time at a job with a lot of travel and company dinners, not to mention having to adjust to living on my own in a new place far away from family in friends.
Second is after about a year fluctuations, losing weight, then meeting my now fiancé and gaining back some "love weight".
Third is after a few months of getting back to creating healthy habits but not being super consistent.
The last picture is current. My fiancé deployed in January and one of the ways we've been able to get through it so far, is by getting really focused on our health and fitness! We are able to motivate and encourage each other even from over 6,000 miles away! I am currently training for an 18.1 mile race as well as lifting 3x/week and meal prepping/IF.
