After you finish your first 5K, sign up for a marathon (or two) in the next month.

Get some nice cotton socks...

Taco Bell and a glass of metamucil is the best pre-race meal!

At your first 5K, make sure you start as close to the front of the pack as possible.

Nice - wash it down with a couple pots o' coffee and you're good to go!

Yes indeed, be sure you have a dog and jogging stroller with you as well.
  • as a reward, start your first race with brand new shoes...no need to break them in.

Run at night in black clothes, back facing traffic. Be sure to turn your ear buds up really loud!

If you're a girl, don't wear a sports bra. The bigger your chest size is, the better. Let them flap with the wind.

Run naked in sub-zero weather. It really adds to the community feel in your neighborhood.

Shoes are HIGHLY overrated. Check out Payless for any good deals, but don't pay more than $15 for your shoes.

Well, you shouldn't need to 'break in' a good pair of running shoes. But certainly don't wear a brand you've never worn before! Or wait! Yes do! (I forgot the purpose of this thread).

Adding mass thru strength training is detrimental to your running

Don't forget to HYDRATE: at least a gallon or two of water for each mile you run! **

** - (be sure not to do this or you may die for reals)

Athletic shoes are so yesterday. Put on your 10 inch stilettos for your run and in no time you'll have calves of steel!

Never run if you're overweight, because literally everyone you see will point and laugh at you.

Running with high heels on works your calves really well and is better than running with sneakers. :glasses:

And make sure you drink at least three glasses of water before going on your run so you don't get dehydrated.
