mccindy, how about a link to this alledged "Attack"...usually it is someone (you) being too sensitive.

    My guess? It's here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1156847-i-m-really-frustrated-with-how-to-eat-to-lose-fat

Specifically, where she speaks about lengthening muscles and such.

    Nope.

    It's this:

    yes. I think you're right

I love this from mccindy, our OP here:
sorry, you are incorrect. The body must covert carbohydrates, which are a complex organism, to a simple sugar, by chemical process in the liver. Once converted to sugar, the body will burn that if necessary, but if there have been any other foods (fats or simple sugars) ingested, these will have been used first, by the time the conversion process is complete, and the carbs will be stored. In the last 50 years Americans have moved away from eating saturated fats (which would be used first) to eating large and multiple serviings of carbohydrates (mainly in the form of white, refined starches). This is the reason for the obesity epidemic in our country.

So that means two threads in one day where the OP, who claims to be one of the informed, has given out completely inaccurate information.

    Good to know.

If you read the original post, you'll see I was just venting a bit about how people decide to argue. I'm not offended or insulted by the dude on the other feed, I just wanted to vent about it. Reaching out - isn't that what this site is supposed to be all about? Although at this point I have my doubts.

    Variation of "you're not supportive"
Is that on the bingo card?

    Hmm. I'll allow it.

So we have: Mean People Rant
    MFP/the forums aren't very supportive
That's what this site is for/we're all here for the same reasons
    I'm an expert

Have I missed any? Anyone have bingo?

    Adding: Carbs are bad
    People are obese because...

feel like you're in a funhouse mirror room?

sorry, but I read the other threads. People disagreed with you but for the most part were tame compared to some of the other stuff I've seen.

for every study you read, you can find three that disagree in some form. (I totally made those stats up).

If the professionals, cannot agree. Then the non-professionals will never get it right. Study is good. Personal experiences are good. Take it all with a grain of salt and figure it out yourself.

I'm sure you have done a ton of research, and that is great... but if you can now deliver it with a grain of humility, that'd be even more awesome. :)

The point of the OP is lost on me. TL;DR = don't believe everything you read?
My best guess: tl;dr = "I'm an expert, listen to me and not those other people, and eventually buy what I'm secretly selling."

I'd rather be off the pedestal partying with you than be up there where people kick at my legs and try to knock me off. Pedestals - whether they are self appointed, or peer appointed, are very precarious places to hang out!

At this point I find myself wondering why any of you are even on this website. Obviously it's not to support or help anyone; it's just to find ways to pick people apart and make them feel small, even if they are just trying to express themselves. It's a sad first world we live in when the Internet gives us the means to reach out anonymously and hurt other people without discretion. I try to do what I can to help people who are asking for good advice; it's up to them who they believe and what they do. I happen to have a an extensive field of knowledge in this area, which is why I feel secure in offering advice to those who are asking for it. I don't go on computer websites and tell people which computers are best and how to fix them, because I don't have knowledge or experience in that area.

I think most of you should be ashamed of yourselves for taking the low road on this particular feed. You should be using this forum as a way to empower yourselves by helping others, and you've decided to use it as a way to belittle other instead. I imagine most of you won't read this whole post, but rather will pick apart the first couple of sentences without (again) taking the time to glean all the information in it. Continue to say what you want; I won't be posting on this feed again.
