I've been through a few of them. They never go as planned. If there wasn't any problem, they would probably wonder what you were lying about and dig deeper.0

By the time I emailed the company to find out what I need to do, they had already received my passed background check. Now I just have to watch about 6 hours of training videos by tomorrow. Fun! But then I'll be night shifting with you guys again! Yay!1
-
Yeah!! Glad you got it.0
-
Thanks! I just finished watching all the training videos and my brain feels full.0

LOL. I'll bet. Just got a dog in that the owners thought was cold most the night but they couldn't get her warmed up and now she is unresponsive. Took one look at the dog and realized it's been having seizures most the night. Temp is now 104.1 degrees. Now I need to get the seizures under control and see if there was brain damage.0

Dang that's gotta be rough...hope the pup turns out ok!0

Question: It seems like the general attitude (not from you guys, but I hear it a lot) is that it's harder to lose weight doing night shift, but I've honestly always found it easier, for some reason. What's been your experience?0
-
I've worked night shift for so long I have nothing to compare to. I find it harder to lose weight when it's winter but when summer hits, It's much easier.0

This.
I haven't had any issue with losing weight on night shift. I guess people want to be less active when they're awake at night and that could be the main contributor. Perhaps they prioritize sleep over everything else and getting enough physical activity falls by the wayside.1 -
Up too many hours. Starting to get punchy. Having to double check all my patients to make sure I don't mix them up.0

Night shift helps me keep from grazing. It's too easy to head over to the fridge or cupboard when I'm at home. At work I pretty well only have access to what I pack with me. The 7-11 is open but there's so many things I can't eat (celiac disease) that it isn't too much of a temptation to go there. The stuff I can buy is also quite a bit more expensive than regular grocery stores. Also I have an active job, so I get more exercise during shift than time off usually.0 -
Another possibility riffing off of Bex's comment.... Maybe people are forgoing sleep to have more day life. Insufficient sleep will cause weight gain too.
Edit because of that darn autocorrect!0 -
I've been really lazy the past week. Packed my gym bag and left my BP meds at home so no workout today0
-
I started c25k, immediately threw out my back, then came down with a nasty cold, then had a ridiculous number of complications getting my work and school schedules sorted out last week. So, planning to get back to it this week. Also, looks like I'll be starting work tomorrow! Yay!2

I'm going to be super nosy; what will you be doing??0
-
You're not nosy--I didn't even realize I hadn't said! I'll be a security guard at a construction site.1

Haha, good for you! Are you stuck in an office looking at CCTV or are you on foot around the site as well? What's your PPE? Hardhat, steeltoes reflective vest? I always liked the construction sites. Kinda like an obstacle course in the dark, by flashlight.0 -
I'll be outside, and can walk as much as I want, and do homework! No special protective gear, I think because I'm outside the gate. I might get steel toes boots anyway.2

Some nights it is good to be slow. We are able to catch up on a lot of housekeeping things like going through stuff to see what needs to be sterilized again since it's been awhile.1

Nights are either super busy or dead, dead for me tonight. Anyone else0
-
Well mine went from uneventful to dead, if you get my meaning. I hate listening to a mother sob bc she found her son deceased... I don't miss having to take those medical calls one bit.0
