my hubby paying me to lose weight

Am I really the only one who finds this creepy?
Maybe not. Maybe they have separate accounts...maybe he works a job where he can earn extra cash on the side...
No one knows their situation.
and all the posts about it being "creepy" are creeping me out...lighten up, people!0 -

Totally shallow and creepy. Way to do it for all the right reasons.0 -
yea, because no woman has ever said, honey...if you do this ill do that0
-
She is obviously doing this for herself! She has already said that. This is just a fun bonus on top of it. And yes, lots of couples have separate accounts. My friend and I set up mini-goals to reward ourselves. She posted about our rewards on here, and she got a lot of negative feedback for it. But, it worked for us! We had a makeover together when we hit 3 months of logging. We had a double date night when we both hit pounds down goals that we had set together. It was simply a way to have mini rewards along the way, and we kept each other motivated. Her husband probably knows that she LOVES to shop and doesn't typically spend money on herself, so it's a great motivator.0

If my husband made me this offer I would think he was implying rescinding the regular cash flow he provides me with and would feel like I was being grounded for being fat. And then having to earn back a fraction of my regular spends? Heck no.0

It is a bit odd, but regardless is shows that he support your weight loss journey big time.
Many people constantly whining their spouse do not support them enough in their weight loss journey, but when somebody spouse shows support, all the sudden it is creepy ? WTF?
Although not pound by pound, I made monetary based incentive or rather reward for myself for reaching certain goals. I get myself a spa treatment/pedicure after every 5 lb.
I also made my husband promise that he will take me to Aruba for an all inclusive luxury vacation if/when I reach normal weight. t The type of vacation I am aiming will cost our family $10K, and we can not afford that . But if I get to a state when I will be not ashamed to show my body in a bikini, I know my husband will make it happen.0 -

However, not every woman has and not every relationship works that way. How sad for you if all of ours have. That speaks of the kind of person you attract -- assuming it isn't just a playful kind of thing. I do things for my SO because it makes me happy to make him happy and no other reason.0 -

No, I agree. I actually think this is pretty awful. Do you not have money of your own? You need your husband to give you money, like an allowance? It's also a demeaning concept. I had a friend whose parents paid her to lose weight and she had such a complex about it. She felt unloved and unworthy, like she was just a commodity that they needed to pump some cash into for improvements.
I try to stay away from the message boards, but this struck me as a particularly unhealthy idea. I hope the original poster has enough self-esteem to not let this get to her. I know a lot of people like to reward themselves with gifts and such at certain weight loss milestones, but that feels very, very different from having your spouse volunteer to pay you for losing the weight.0 -

Not me, I found it insulting, stingy, and totally out of bounds.0 -

For sex? Unless it's one sexual favor for another, then no. I'm not going to say, "Hey babe. I'll blow you if you take out the garbage and do the dishes tonight." not seriously anyways.0 -

FWIW, I started out with a monetary reward for every lb lost. But I soon realized that the thrill I get in seeing my body transform from large, soft and pudgy to smaller, firmer, stronger and sexy is so much more rewarding than the extra $680 in my pocket.
ETA: that's $20/lb0 -
In for paid creepiness \m/0
-
Of course you can do it.0
-
I do not see how this could possibly end well.
Everyone is different, I supposed.
Although, I do wonder what these husbands look like.0 -
I see nothing wrong with that!0

"WHUH WHUH WHAT?!?! A woman who is motivated by money, uses motivation to beter herself and has a Husband who is supportive?!?! FEMBOTS UNITE!"
God, its not like the OP's Hubby said, "Look Chubby, get off your *kitten* and do something about yourself or I'll cut off your allowance!". More than likely (and statistically supported) he makes more money than her (if not all the household income) and when she approached him with her desire to lose weight, he added an incentive for her. Jeebus, If that's wrong... I don't want to be right.0 -

No. I'm right there with you.0 -
My husband has offered sexual favors for every 2lbs I lose.
THIS is the kind of motivation I could get behind if my wife were to do that!0 -

in fairness to do both it might take more than...nah...who am i kidding
ive heard plenty of stories of, well if you put up with the inlaws youll get some on the way home etc...just because "YOU" dont personally do it doesn't mean it doesnt happen (you meaning general you, not specific you)0 -
Hey if her hubby wants to pay her for weight lost I'd say she should take it as a good thing. The sexual favors thing I read on here (sexual favors for each pound lost?) would totally offend me though - personally.
I'm doing a biggest loser contest at work - each week is a 25 dollar gift card to the winner of that week. It's 6 weeks - the winner of the whole deal gets 100 dollar gift card and 100 dollars in cash. Great way to encourage health in the work place and it's off of body percentage. I've done one of these before where I lost 10 pounds and I almost won but I gave up too early.
Not this time - I gotta keep it up! Whether I win or not I'm using it as a motivator to get back on track with my goals that I already set for myself months ago. It makes getting healthy more fun I think.0 -
Sounds like a win-win situation0

I have mixed feelings about it. If the husband is genuinely doing this as an incentive to lose weight - a bit of fun and a reward - then that's ok.
If, on the other hand, he is doing this because HE is unhappy/embarrassed/uncomfortable with his wife's weight/the way she looks - then I would be really concerned by that.0 -
Do it for yourself and not for the money or your husband. My ex-husband and I had the same bet years ago. I saw it as an opportunity to get a new wardrobe and didn't have to use my own money. I did it. I "won". Just make sure he accepts you at any weight. And that a healthier you is your own goal and you're not seeking his approval of what is sexy or beautiful.
Good luck to you!0 -
Good deal!0

and for the record, all men pay for sex. just not all transactions are of the monetary persuasion
Men who pay for sex are usually called 'Johns'.
Your worldview is... how shall I say this... interesting, to say the least. Good luck on your journey.
Do you want to get married?
You won't have to pay me to lose weight or have smexy times.0 -
