    since we started on a Friday, I think its appropriate to check in on Fridays. I am thinking of changing my miles ticker daily. another thing I am going to do to keep up with my miles is edit the note in the exercise session and put my total daily miles.

    just curious? would you prefer to check in regularly (more frequently than weekly), just to state your progress and then make it more official on Friday? Also, I was curious if anyone was interested in maybe creating a spreadsheet with the posters' miles and see how many we accumulate as a group over the next 31 days. Maybe we can even set up a group goal to go along with our individual goals. Does anyone like that idea? if not, we can just keep it the way we originally talked about. just throwing out new suggestions.

    woohoo! October is finally upon us! Time to start walking!! :drinker:

    I would like to update more than once a week... I like doing quick progress checks, but I like the idea of doing one official check-in each week.

    I also LOVE the spreadsheet idea.... I could do it for you. I'm usually bored at nights anyway so instead of snacking I can work on spreadsheets :laugh: I'll work up one up tonight with everyones names and mileage goal.... that is, of course, after my walk :wink:

    I've been told it's not tacky to use this space for tracking my miles racked up training for a 10K in mid November. It looks like I will be between 9 - 13 miles a week so I went with a goal of 11 a week.

    Then I thought, wow. I went from sitting on a heating pad all the time with a bad back and miserable pain to running 11 miles a week. It's a amazing what a little exercise will do for you!

    Can't wait to see how everyone does!! :)

    One of my main methods of exercise is walking dogs, so I am in!!! What is the consensus about the challenge details...?

    3 miles walking (to and from work) + 2 miles running (on the treadmill) = 5 miles today! Off to a great start!

    Are we OFFICIALLY checking in once a week on fridays? Since it's friday, I figured I'd post.

    I just want to make sure I understand correctly....are we added miles from other cardio machines too...i.e elliptical, stationary bike, or for those that bike outside.

    I wanted to add those into my totals, but I can distinguish between my bike miles and walking miles as it takes less than 5 minutes to bike a mile instead of 15 minutes to walk a mile. Just let me know. I want to make sure that I understand the challenge correctly.

    i'm new to the site and wanted to log my october miles to see what i'm walking... I'd like to join the challenge. My goal is to hit 70 miles this month. Good luck to everyone!

  • Hi, I'm new today to my fitness pal....thanks to a friend. I love the idea of this challenge for October, count me in. I recently joined a running class for beginners and am currently walking/jogging a few times a week. But I would like to challenge myself for better weight loss.

    I'm not sure how to add my fitness ticker to my profile...any help?

    So today I walked 2.54 miles, row 2.1 miles, bike 6.33 miles. Total 10.97 And I had fun doing it!

    I am usualy power walk/jog 7.75 a week. I can totally bump it up though. I am in for 60 miles for October YAY

    2 miles so far today-- Less than ideal since I had my daughter with me and I couldn't go fast. When she leaves for her sleepover I am going to try to get more in!!

    I did 4.5 miles today woohoo! I would of done more, but I had a busy day. :)

    My goal is 200 miles this month and I fixed up my ticker finally. :)

    I'd love to join in! My friend has lost 40 lbs lately from walking 5 miles a day. I'd like to add up 100 miles walked by the end of October!! This should motivate me to really get outside and enjoy the weather like I should be. Fall is my favourite time of year, and I want to enjoy it, since it also seems to be the shortest season.
