It's hard to believe that October is already here. It's my favorite month. Since I live in Texas (as Caliecat can confirm) it is the nicest of months - cool nights, warm days. In Texas, October, not June, is the favorite month for weddings. Both of my daughters were married in October. I have a big goal this month - 5 lbs. That's a little better than a pound a week so I will have to get moving. I lose weight slowly but I know that is a good thing - especially for us senior gals. I have a trip to Little Rock next week for my granddaughter's 2nd birthday and a business trip later this month. These will be challenges but I can do it. I'm getting very close to my first BIG goal!
Barbiecat - good luck with the restaurant food - looks like you have a good plan already.0 -
Mamasota, You can do it have a nice trip. I love oct too. soon the Texas pecans will start falling.
I just got back from the doctor office, And i have lost 10 lbs this year and gain 10 lbs. So that is not good. i have gain everything I lost. There will be some changes made for this old gal.
Marie
Thanks Sandy for starting our thread for Oct.
barbiecat you will make it just fine.
See the rest of you later on.

Happy Friday
So glad the work week is over, going to friends house for dinner tomorrow night, I'm taking the salad Mixed greens, chopped apple, toasted pecans and dried cranberries, the dressing is Vidalia Honey Vinaigrette, sounds wonderful, my firends is also doing MFP since I told her about and has lost a lot of weight. So the meals tomorrow night won't be anything to worried about. On Sunday is our Block Party, looking forward to see all the neighboors.
Sanndy thanks for starting October, have fun on your trip.
Marie you will get back on track.
Barbie you can do this on the weekend being gone, sometime I do much better when am gone.:ohwell: :ohwell: :ohwell:

Hello everyone, good to see October here, my favorite season fall
Well Spring eh? hummm...a size 14 I'm a size 18 now. I think anyway, I just wear uniforms and the last I out grew were 18's and now I'm back in them. But I think if my sis and I keep on this track we both will be down 2 - 4 sizes. Loads of greatness for her, she will find a new self within herself.
Off to bed now eyes are watering and yawning is constant.
Night all...

A quick Hi to you all. My computer is in the midst of a scan so I will be short. I broke a tooth today and was unable to get hold of my dentist, may have been away on a Friday afternoon. I keep wondering if it is hurting but I think it is all in my head. DUH! The Christmas Day tooth pain of a few years is solidly in my memory and I don't want to go there again. Yeah for a dentist who looked after my infected tooth on Christmas Day.
We picked Neil up today, not sure if he is staying for one night or two. He is already out with his friend.
Have a great weekend. Hope to be back on tomorrow with a computer that works great. I was looking at IPads today and put a big hint in for one. Christmas is around the corner after all!

Jake has a Birthday Oct.10 A week from this Sunday. Happy Birthday you young fellow,
PS if anyone want on my birhday list let me know your birthday Thanks, i know we have some new ones here that is not on it.0 -
Marie, I'm February 28, 1957, I share my birthday with my(maybe some day daughter in law)son's lovely lady Kim, and a Lady I used to work with Joyce, she lives in Newfoundland, and a crew member of my job, I have memory loss as to her name, but alas 3 people, actually I think there is another?
Had a productive day working around the house, lots done, and made a list of more to do? How did I manage that?? Had a huge salad with nuts and some spicey rice crackers, mmmmm. Bought some fall artificial flowers at the dollar store and made up a wreath, and a few vases to decorate for the fall winter season. Just have to place them so the cats don't bother with them.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday, I'll be checking in...

Thanks Marilyn, i got it on my list.0

Happy Sunday!! Took Daisy to the Vet yesterday for her yearly checkup and vaccinations. She is 76 pounds and in great health.
Very cool today, almost thinking of putting the heat on but hoping the sun will warm the house. :glasses:
My son's greyhound hurt his dew claw so his girl took him to the vet where they cut it down. She said he was crying and it was heartbreaking. Then she told me later that she was supposed to remove the bandage but he screamed when she tried and she didn't know what to do. I told her to leave it on until Monday and bring him back to vet to remove it. He is a big dog and I don't think it is worth her getting bitten. I am sure it won't hurt to keep it on an extra day. My son will be home next Friday and we can't wait, it has been so long he has been in England.
Tomorrow is my casino trip with two friends. I will be missing in action until probably Wednesday morning.
Keep posting, keep tracking, keep exercising and keep drinking lots of water. :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:
Have a great day,

Hello everyone, just a quicky, got to get ready for bed soon. Did exercises today early so I would not forget them in the midst of doing chores etc. Sad to see the deck looking so bare, and the comfy chairs etc all put away. The thoughts of the shovel and snow seem to fill in the blanks there. Oh well, get it over and done with right!
Hope everyone is well and had a great day, take it easy for Monday, we have four more days to straighten things out.
Marilyn0 -
Off to the casino in a little while, will check in with you late Tuesday, hopefully with great news about my winnings!!!!
Enjoy your days!!!!!

Have w wonferful time there.0

Marie - my birthday is March 22nd
Gayla - I has been my experience that broken teeth, tooth aches, etc. always happen on Friday's when you can't get ot the dentist and have to suffer until Monday. So sorry........................
My best pal Melanie and I went to the Dallas Museum of Art on Saturday - it was free admission day. We saw the new exhibit called "the Mourners", beautiful hand carved alabaster statues of monks from a tomb in France. The detail work was incredible. We also saw a display of really bright and colorful African masks. The best part of the DMA is the Reeve collection. The Reeves had an incredible collection of art and furniture and many other things like hinges and door knockers. To get the collection, the DMA had to recreate their home within the museum. It is incredible! They owned Van Gogh's, Monet's, Manet's, Renoir's and almost any well know impressionist. The master bedroom is full in intricately decorated furniture made entirely of paper mache! I recommend it to anyone looking for an interesting outing in Dallas. On the down side, we did eat lunch at the S&D Oyster bar and I had to have the fried oysters (a favorite since childhood) but I must have walked them off because I had lost weight when I weighed in this morning. YEAH!

Happy Monday Everyone!0 -
Greetings to everyone!
Thank you Sandy for picking up the thread for October!
I've been tracking , for the most part, but not posting for a week which means I have a little catching up to do!!!!
I went away on a women's retreat from Friday through Sunday, so got behind in tracking for a few days:ohwell:
I don't see these women often and some asked about my weight loss:blushing: They were very interested in how I did it, thus MFP became a topic for discussion (in between prayer, of course ) for part of the retreat! I really DO feel very blessed to have been guided to this website and to have connected with all you wonderful people! I prayed for you all, too:blushing:
September went well, but is challenging as I am not REALLY trying to lose much more weight. I eat a little more, make sure I track it all, exercise and drink plenty of water! I don't know where I am on the scale after this weekend, but I will get weighed on Wed which is my weigh in day. I CAN say that I was careful, and tried to make healthy choices HOWEVER....I wasn't able to exercise.:frown: In fact, I haven't exercised since Thurs because my Sciatic nerve has been acting up! This morning I did a shorter and less aggressive routine, so burned only 400 calories instead of 600 and kept the incline to 3 and not 6. So far, so good:happy:
I will try to al least catch up on the new month if I get a chance. If not, sending warm welcomes to anyone who might be new ....congratulations to those who are doing well.:flowerforyou: ...and big hugs of encouragement for all those who are struggling in one way or another!!!!

Hello everyone, good day today, good eating and did my exercises too. Mind feels younger again, body loves the sore feeling and it is putting a spring into my steps. Hope everyone had a good day, I'm off to get ready for bed in a bit, a couple of chores need to be done first though. Catch you all tomorrow.

:flowerforyou: :drinker: I have been MIA for a few days while out of town at an event with long meetings and limited time for exercise.....I didn't log food or exercise but tried to stick to healthier eating......I drank more than enough water but the sodium from the Subway sandwiches and the cashews have made my weigh in this morning a bit suspect....I'll wait a few days before changing my ticker if I need to ( this morning I weighed 115 after being at 110 for months)....I could not have possibly eaten enough cashews and Subway tuna sandwiches on flatbread to have gained five pounds in three days....we brought our yoga mats and DVD but didn't have time to do any yoga.......I did manage to walk enough at the breaks to get over 10000 steps each day
 we got home about 5:30 yesterday, unpacked, had a simple supper, and were watching some TV just before bedtime when we got a call from our neighbor (the one who had picked up our mail for us when we were gone and who frequently walks and feeds the pets when we're gone for a long day). she had fallen and needed to go to the emergency room. after waiting while she got a CAT scan and got stitches, we were home just before 2AM and very ready to sleep.
 we picked up the pets this morning after sleeping extra late and they were thrilled to be home and we were thrilled to see them

Hello Everyone.
I have been busy, but just saw something on another thread that I know Marie will get a kick out of. MFP member rob1976 posted a pic of a cake that his wife made on request of a bridegroom. I think you will agree, it is one of a kind!!!!:noway: :noway: :noway:   :laugh:My best friend's grooms cake
BTW the round things at the bottom of the cake are balls of cake, stuck on a lolipop stick and dipped in white chocolate. Definitely a low calorie dessert!!!!

Thanks Barbs Good job. Make me want a cowboy cake.0

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: two of those nasty sodium related pounds are gone, and three more are left so the big question is whether it's all sodium or will I have to readjust my ticker.....two days of healthy eating and exercising this week.
:flowerforyou: I had a day of visiting with friends but still managed to do yoga, "Butt 'N' Gut", exercise bike, a walk at the dog park with the dogs and some puttering in the garden.
:flowerforyou: Barb, that is a great cake.....I can't believe how creative people are
