What's Your Most Recent NSV

I just realized that I had neglected to share this on Success Stories ... My doctor has told me to stop taking lisinopril for high blood pressure. My appointment was last Saturday and they measured my bp at 118-82. I explained to the Dr that I had forgotten to take my med for several days. With that, she agreed that I no longer needed it.32

Not that long ago the tube would be gone in 2 sittings.
Your tubes made TWO servings?!? Mine were only one.
Okay.
I mitta lied about that......15 -
Everyone knows how hard can be to get back on track once you fall off the wagon, right? My NSV is that I have gotten back on the wagon and am in an excellent state of mind right now. I feel great and confident and willing to discipline myself in terms of food.
That is important to do. A lot of people fall off the wagon and just go down the downward slope. When you can catch yourself right away and just be real with yourself. Say get back on track. That is great you can do that! I had to learn how to do this even 3 or 4 days after eating like a pig. Once you can manage to put the train back on the rails after a misstep or two, you are golden. Good for you!
Oh and I am now a medium sized shirt instead of a large. We should all rejoice in our NSV's! Woohoo!14 -
This might be the biggest NSV for me of all. I've been on MFP since July 25 2016 and have lost a little over 30 lbs and dropped from 22W to size 16 pants. All this time, my husband has tolerated my changed eating habits and put up with my need to exercise, but he did not join in the fun. Yesterday he said, "OK - how does this Fitness Pal logging stuff work? Can you set me up on it too? I want to lose weight like you are doing."
HE SIGNED UP AND STARTED LOGGING! And he made snack packs of carrots for both of us to take to work! I'm so excited that he has seen the light - I know not to push him too hard too fast but WOW! I am so happy for him! Sorry for all the exclamation points but I'm sure some of you know how I feel.
Awesome Lynn...hubby joined up too so happy about it he is almost at 100 day streak so proud of him15 -
Finally getting the hang of my new workout program and not limping around in pain for a few days.12

I bought a new pair of work scrubs, several weeks back, they were too small, but I never got back to exchange them. Tonight, I tried them on, and they fit!17
-
Went shopping tonight at the local thrift shop looking for dressed pants.
Grabbed 3 pairs from the rack in the size 36 section the headed up to the fitting room. The first one was a no go, way to baggy. The second one I could barely fit in! WTF ??? The store tag says was a size 36 but the manufacturer's label is actually a 32! The last one fitted perfectly and is actually a 34, another mis-labelling.
Considering I used to wear size 40-42 just over 5 months ago I think this is a NSV for me :-)

My son had swim team at the Y and it's too cold out to do my usual walk with the dog. I ended up walking a 5k on the track at the Y.24

Funny, I just did the same today! All my belts are too long now but in to great shape to throw them away. The only problem is the loose end that becomes longer but not enough to reach the next belt loop ;-)6 -

Yeah, the flappy end is annoying me right now! I might have to just put an elastic band on the belt to hold it until I shrink a bit more!4 -

My NSV is over the past week, almost every morning when I go to refill my bowl there have been one or more kisses left in the bowl--THAT I FORGOT ABOUT! I'm thinking I may actually be weaning myself off of them inadvertently!
That is really cool! I'm a chocoholic and have some every night. Sometimes I just eat it out of habit, rather than want or hunger. I need to find a neat solution like this.
I think part of the trick is that since I know I can have it, I don't get panicky or obsessed about it--so I'm not thinking about it as much.
Yep, that's why I didn't cut out chocolate - any method of losing weight that made me feel deprived of my favourite things just wasn't going to work for me!
I started out buying 85% dark chocolate (I love dark more than milk anyway) and having one or two squares almost every day, but I gradually cut down and now I rarely have it at all. It was an amazing day for me, when I realised that I was able to honestly think "I don't want chocolate today". Not "I shouldn't have chocolate" but "I don't want chocolate"! I really never thought that day would come. So take heart, @quiksylver296 , it IS possible!
(By the way, this is not to say that I don't have chocolate at all - I still have chocolate-covered treats or a piece of chocolate sometimes, but it doesn't have the hold over me that it used to have. It's also much harder for me to do this with milk chocolate. I think that because it's sweeter I crave it more, and it's really hard to stop at one or two squares. But I'm absolutely fine now with the darker stuff!)10 -
I am new to weight training. Normally I do not weight train in interval training mode. Today, I tried a 30s workout & a 30s rest fashion. It nearly killed me, but I managed to survive at the end of those grueling 60 minutes
And, I did 8 sets of 5 push ups. My biggest number so far. These are not 100% perfect, but I am inching towards it. Felt good about it.15 -

This is similar to what I do. I have a cake tin that gets stocked with bags of sweet snacks of all types. Every bag is measured to be approx 300 calories(always under never over). The ease of just putting a quick add 300 calories on my diary each day and then Just forget about it takes the temptation of forbidden food away and stresses me out way less.

I never thought I'd ever post in here.
I have always had a pair of jeans that I love, but they've always been far too small for me and hurt my hips. About a month ago I tried them on as I'd lost 20lbs and they fit perfectly. I went on to lose a bit more in the last couple of weeks and now the blinking things are too big!23 -
I lost 2cm around my waist. I was super shocked because I haven't seen any improvements.
Also while doing stretches las Sunday I realized i can actually lift my shoulders and upper back off the floor couldn't do that last week. Then I used to be KO after 20 minutes of PopPilates but this week I can actually go for 40 minutes without the KO. My mind says im done my body says nope you're not keep going.19 -
rsamuelsgold wrote: »My mind says im done my body says nope you're not keep going.
I totally find this happens now when I'm on the stairmaster or stationary bike at the gym. It's like my mind hasn't caught up to my muscle capabiities. If that makes sense lol6 -
Had a bad day yesterday. I mean bad. Hungry all day, had a bad day, frustrated, etc, etc. Did not log. Did not care.
Today started in a similar fashion. I woke up this morning and ate something I never normally would if I was counting. Then I came to work and ate a piece of Godiva out of the GIANT box a specialist sent our office for a holiday treat. Then, I sat and thought about what I was going to do for lunch. I decided to log the things I have eaten today "just to see". And, to be honest, it wasn't terrible. The day is not lost. Maybe I'll end up being over in the end, maybe not... I'll try to not be. But either way, I am being accountable. That's my NSV.56 -

That's awesome! Taking back control after feeling like we may have lost it is hard, but once you get a grip on it again you can keep going. Falling down isn't the problem, not getting back up is!5 -

Although I'm going to talk about pounds on the scale, I still think this success counts for an NSV. . .!
I started my new way of eating just a bit less than a year ago (late December 2015). Because I know from past experience that I get WAY too obsessive about my weight on a scale, I decided I just wouldn't weigh myself during this journey. at least until I got closer to goal. So my weight has not been checked AT ALL since a year ago at my last physical exam. Based on my TDEE, I picked a daily calorie level I was comfortable with (predicted to lose about 1 lb a week), and have been eating that way ever since. I knew I was losing weight based on how my clothes fit and what I've been seeing in the mirror, but I had NO idea what my scale results were. I would have been happy if I'd lost 30-40 pounds.
Well, I just got back from the doctor's office, and things were better than I expected! I've lost 52.5 lbs! I'm very happy! The reason I decided to count this as an NSV is that this happened while I paid ZERO attention to the scale and just trusted the process. And I'm amazed at how close to the prediction my actual weight loss is! That's even with cheat days thrown in here and there. I still have a ways to go, but now I have even more confidence in my method.
So for anyone else out there who hates the scale, know that eating well and trusting the process works!54 -
.... I now have callouses from barbells on my palms.... feeling pretty badazzzzzz right now! Lol jk but it is yet another physical sign that I'm different than I used to be..... all soft and stuff22

Several NSVs from last week:
1) I was helping decorate our dept. for the holidays, and a woman who works on the same floor came by and told me my walks are really making a difference. I hardly ever see her, and sometimes bump into to her on the stairwell when I'm doing my basement to 3rd floor steps. Nice compliment!
2) Went to my neices' basketball games and sitting on the wooden bleachers is getting hard on my tailbone. Didn't before, too much padding.
3) I walked in the Jingle Bell 5K as a "runner" since only runners were chip-timed. When I looked up my time I was pleased to be under 50 minutes, and I actually finished with a better time than some other "runners".23 -
Generally sedentary, and after not exercising for a very long time, I have hit 11k steps for 3 days in a row36
-
I have 2 that both happened today. The first was comparing a photo from today versus November 11 and seeing a difference. The second is that I finally walked a mile in about 20 minutes during my lunch. The past few days I've gotten so close (like 0.94, 0.95 miles) but today I got it!20

I have to start this by saying I LOVE THIS THREAD!! NSV's are my favorite!! I was looking for something like this on the sparkpeople forums but couldn't find it. But I found it here - 13,000 comments worth!!
Y'all are amazing! This thread is super encouraging to read! I like seeing the progress as I recognize people's profiles and can see the changes.
Anyways.
I was super bummed this morning when I weighed in because I gained 2lbs. But as soon as I saw that I knew I needed to post on here because regardless of the scale, I do have some NSV which is what this is all about.
1) So far this week, I have not drunk any coffee. This is one of my mini goals because I tend to put a lot of milk and sugar in it (I don't actually like the taste of coffee), and then sometimes I was drinking 2 or 3 cups a day... and I admit, I was not always paying for it (it is a coffee machine in the workplace, we have to feed the frog).
2) I did not eat the cinnamon rolls this week either. Every week someone brings in cinnamon rolls that we can buy. And every week I tell myself I am not going to eat one, and then I eat 2 or even 3 sometimes. But this week, I did not have one at all.
3) Every so often we have birthday treats if one of the staff has a birthday that week, or unbirthday treats for the summer people. Usually I cheat and have more than one, but this time I only had one. And bonus - they were mini-muffins, so that made it even better!
4) I have gone out walking everyday so far this week and on most days hit 10k steps or more. And yesterday I did some dance fitness videos, and on one day I even did a Fitness Blender strength video.
5) (This is not weight related but it makes me feel accomplished) I finished a book that I have been reading off and on for the past few years.
So with all that I need to not think about the number on the scale. To motivate myself to continue next week I need to focus on what I did well this week. And if I do just as well or better next week then the number on the scale will eventually change. Then I will lose inches and fit into my pants again (I have no pants that fit anymore ). Then maybe if I lose weight, I can finally motivate my mom to do the same.
Sorry this was super long but I needed to process it all. I hope it will encourage someone else the way all those other posts have encouraged me.32 -
I hit 15000 steps on one day for my fitbit and got a new badge anyone know if there is one out there for 20k steps?15

Yes, there is one for each additional 5k steps a day up to 100k steps in one day http://www.developgoodhabits.com/fitbit-badge-list/3 -
My most recent NSV would probably be the 31 year old waiter who hit on me very persistently the other day. I told him I'm 47, and he could have cared less! He was sweet, very complimentary, and blushed every time I mentioned that he was welcome to come sit with us! he kept saying "you're so awesome" as he walked back to his station..lol! Young enough to be my son (almost), but he definitely made me feel good about myself!20
