    Hi Barb,

Just a quick note I went back to July when I became a member, you had a list of the birthdays, what a great idea,:smooched: :smooched: :smooched: here are the ones for November.
    Marie Nov 7 - Gayla Nov 20 - Gigi Nov 28.

Hope to hear from you more often, you always have great ideas and information, have a great weekend.:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

    Gigi

I can't take credit for the idea. Marie was the one who started it. When she was having health issues, at one point, she asked me to update the list---BUT I am GLAD you mentioned it, so let me be the first to say........

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARIE!!!!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: (a day early)

Hi everyone. Dave and Neil and I watched a lot of curling today which was a fun start to the season. I read the paper and did my puzzle while we watched. I am trying to come up with something for dinner. I am still trying to make mostly soft foods as Neil's throat is still sore and not very cooperative for swallowing. So far the steroids are not working. I do have to run to the store so maybe I will get some inspiration there.

Sandy -- Your busy lifestyle keeps you young AND slim! Hope you got to relax a bit today.

Gigi -- Thanks for noting the birthdays! We three all get older this month. I bet your house seems empty for awhile when your girls leave. Soon you will have more time to go visit them!

Barb -- Thanks for continuing to think of Neil. He has ups and downs but the sadness can be intense at times. Just glad it doesn't last for too long. Will your work continue to keep you so busy? I guess it is a good thing although the dogs may disagree.

Jeffrey -- Enjoy a quiet weekend. You deserve it, you work hard. You can keep the cold weather down there!

Marie -- Hope you are enjoying your trip to the casino.

Take care everyone and keep smiling. Gayla

What a beautiful sunny day, it must be because of Marie's 80th birthday, she is the sunshine of our lives!!!:heart: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

I arranged the birthday list in the correct order Marie, we are missing a few so if you aren't on the birthday list let me know and I will add your date.

Marilyn, great job of being consistent. :flowerforyou:

Gigi, say an extra prayer for all of us. :blushing:

Gayla, it makes me so sad to read that Neil is so sad, I hope things start going his way soon, so he can be happy the way he deserves.

I have forgotten what I read before this page, so please forgive me if I didn't write something personal to you. I hope all your goals are being met and all your dreams are being fulfilled.

I have been faithful to my program as far as watching calories and drinking water, but not as good with exercise. I have lost nearly 4 pounds though and I am excited about that but will not change my ticker until it stays that way for a least a week. :noway:

Have a great day and Marie don't eat too much cake.

:flowerforyou: After eating out three times in two days, i feel more out of control than I have since i joined MFP....I certainly ate too much at the big Gratitude Dinner potluck last night----chicken, turkey, stuffing, cheesy potatoes, sweet potatoes, mini quiche, veggies and salad
the really positive thing is that I didn't eat any dessert and there was a lot to choose from.....I ate carefully all day and got a lot of exercise but certainly still ate too much....today will be better:bigsmile:

:flowerforyou: Gayla, I'm sorry that Neil is still struggling......does he have any favorite comfort foods (mac and cheese, soup, stew, etc,) that he likes......so often the comfort foods are soft and easy to swallow

:flowerforyou: Marilyn, if you have that work on your desk at home, the cats will lie down on it.

:flowerforyou: I just finished putting in new elastic on my pumpkin Halloween costume--I did it all by hand so it was on the table where I work while watching TV, and Haifa insisted on lying on and reaching for the needle as I sewed.....I was amazed that he apparently never lay down on the pins in a way that they stuck him.

:flowerforyou: I was supposed to go to Tacoma today for a committee meeting but the committee chair got very sick and canceled the meeting (so I'll have go some other Saturday or Sunday before the end of the year) so Jake and I are celebrating our surprise free time by going to the movies (a rarity for us)

:blushing: I got lost, and thanks, Barb for advising me with that link!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Marie, and thank you for thinking of me when I disappeared for a week! My eyes sometimes get very unstable since my cateracts were replaced with Crystalenses. They are great since I can read without glasses and see distances when they are working right. Actually, I think it's a problem I had prior to the surgery, and has something to do with dry eyes.....at any rate, the computer can make me almost blind as everything can get so blurred I cannot make out any text! So I have a lot of past posts to catch up on and I will as soon as I can see well enough again!
Just a quick mention of interesting update: I went to a nutritionist as my weight was increasing again despite adding exercises, and she gave me a new set of rules...EAT MORE PROTEIN and CALORIES! My body has gone into self-protection! Following her plan, I feel so darn full all the time (10 glasses of water helps!), and I certainly don't feel deprived, the bloat is going down, and I will check my measurements, but at least I'm back to my last weight on MFP! I went up 3 pounds eating less and less!
Thank you, Gigi, Marie, and everyone else, and for all the cold weather sufferers up north, we used a blanket last night as Florida plummeted to 45! I love the 64 this afternoon, though!
Still have to figure out how to do this posting first on Word, as I lost a few replies, but I'll get there!
Glad the Lyrica is not as necessary, Barbie
And Jeffrey's knee is coming along
Gayla, we are all praying for a miracle for Neil...and you!
And wow, a count of 8 on the CA report is phenominal!

My first time posting here so an introduction is in order.

My name is Connie. I'm 69-years young and have been married 50 years to the same guy. We were both born and raised in Wisconsin but moved to the Missouri Ozarks in 2007 in search of better weather, lower taxes and lower cost of living.

We have four children; a daughter who lives with her husband in Willard, Missouri and three sons - 1 in Portland, Oregon, 1 in Waukesha, Wisconsin and one in Stockbridge, Wisconsin. The first two boys are unmarried. The last is a young widower with a 12-year old daughter. We have three other grandchildren, all back in Wisconsin. Our granddaughter is almost 25 and the twins (boys) are going to be 22.

We miss them but use SKYPE to video call.

We're not without "kids" in the house. We share space with two Afghan Hounds. The oldest, Willie, is a retired show champion and will be six in January. The younger, Trouble, a cousin to the first, is such a lover. He just turned four. And yes, I do all the grooming myself. As a matter of fact, the front of my shirt is wet because Trouble just had a bath.

I've worn lots of hats besides wife, mother and grandmother. I worked in the hospitality industry for 15 years, in the travel business for 20, and ran my own web design studio from 1995 until 2007 when we retired and moved here.

I'm counting calories in support of my husband who is going to have open heart surgery the end of this month. He had a heart attack about six years ago and we both vowed to loose weight. After about nine months he was down 80 pounds and I was down 50. Unfortunately we didn't keep it up. I put back on about half of what I lost and he did, too. Now his heart is failing and surgery is necessary. He was back up to 270 pounds, and I had climbed to 196.

Hope I remember to check in here once in a while.

    Welcome Connie,
I am across the Columbia River from your one son; I am in SW Washington.

I hope your husband's surgery goes well. You CAN BOTH succeed here, so welcome aboard!!! You have already learned the lesson about not falling off the wagon. Consider what you are doing a lifestyle change, and it will become second nature.

    Buzz,
    Glad you found us.

I am posting the instructions for how to post using a word processing program, just in case anyone else isn't sure.

To use Word for posting, open up a blank word document, and also have a browser window open to the thread. You can type in the word processing document as you read, and when you are finished with your message, SAVE the document...just in case anything goes wrong. To place your message in a posting window, first of all, hit the "quote" button in the thread, and after the blank reply window comes up, go back to the word processing document and copy your text. Then paste it into the reply window and add any "smiley faces." If you submit your post and it doesn't appear in the thread, all you will need to do is pull up the word processing document, copy your text again, and try reposting. When you have posted, you can delete the document if you wish

    Marie,
Hope the Cowboys win one for your birthday. Sorry to any Green Bay fans out there.:flowerforyou:

Just had steak, a small baked potato, asparagus and salad for dinner. Yum!!

The Dallas -Green Bay game has about 10 minutes left, but unless Green Bay walks off the field before the clock runs down, I think the outcome is pretty well decided. I didn't watch the game, but obviously, with the lopsided score, Dallas hasn't had a very good night. Sorry Marie.

    Have a good week everyone.
