ok I am here just sick as ever!!! Now that I got rid of the croopy cough now I am plagued by a stomach virus.I can't eat or drink anything without running to the restroom if you know what I mean so there has been no point for me to be on here because I have been tired and just plain old sick and wish I would get over this stuff already. But I really can't complain my scale read 225 this morning and I am also on my TOM so once I can start eating and exercising again and TOM is gone I should be close to 220 again.I have been trying to snack on things here and there while I have been sick but its very difficult.I am looking at being sick as a new way to control my cravings lol.So far its working !!

Jenn, great job on passing up the pizza

Well, I am proud of the hubby who is on this journey with me (he needs to lose 35) a customer gave him 2 dozen donuts and he gave them all away. He said they were still steaming hot and he just gave them ALL away. So proud of him. We also went out to eat last night we only ate 1/2 our dinner and shared a dessert. Iknow we could of passed on the dessert. But the old us would have eaten ALL of our dinner and our OWN dessert so I was pretty proud of us.

Momma-That's great improvment! Some progress is better then no progress. :drinker: How's Ryan doing? And all your girlies?

    Welcome Jenni!

Ann: hope you feel better very soon..get plenty of rest.

Momma: thanks for the challenge...I need to get my arms in shape so I don't shy away from short sleeve shirts (because of my bat wings).

I am so hungry, but I don't want to eat. I think it's from all the bad food I had yesterday ( sugar and carbs both have a bad effect of my system)...drink my water so I don't eat all my calories. I almost missed the bathroom twice because I drank too much and I had to hold it until I came home, from picking up my son from preschool. I know too much information..lol

I about to leave again, it's a beautiful day and my son wants to go for a walk..yay!

Jess, thanks for asking. My girls are GREAT!! They all brought home wonderful report cards and they are so helpful with their brother. They are all hard little workers! Ryan is GOOD. He is having some difficulties at school but he actually READ a word yesterday. He sounded it out and READ it so I was pretty proud of him. His difficulties are mainly behavioral right now. He is refusing to do work later in the morning. He does wonderful all morning and then all of a sudden he is Done and that is it. I know that we are going to have days like this (or weeks as in this case) but I am holding on to my Faith that there is so much HOPE for him. He is def. a bright little guy he just needs a lot of support to bring it all out.

I am having a pretty nice birthday, I decided to work from home today which is nicer than being in the office. I met a friend for lunch and an hour walk beforehand, and then a bit of shopping for my 17-yr old. She bought a $20 dress to wear for a band concert tonight, and I spent over $100 on all the accessories! (strapless bra, sweater, shoes, jewlery). Hopefully she will wear them more than once!
I've got my nutrition class tonight, and then my daughter's concert ... so we are going out tomorrow night as a family for my birthday ... the eating out challenges this week continue. But I'm doing better, not 100% but better.

I promised to share from my class ... this is from an email I got today from the place I am taking nutrition for weight loss classes:
    http://www.weightandwellness.com/
Many of our clients have questions about whether coconut oil and coconut milk are healthy because of the saturated fat. As a nutritionist, I recommend using both coconut oil and coconut milk for cancer prevention, immune support, heart health, weight loss, and skin health. Here are some of specific ways that coconut oil is beneficial.

    Cancer Prevention

Studies have shown that coconut oil has high levels of antioxidants, specifically tocotrionols, which inhibit the growth of cancer cells, particularly the carcinogenic agents that cause colon and breast tumors. (Lipids, 1992, B.S. Reddy, "Dietary Fat and Colon Cancer")

    Heart Health

The antioxidants in coconut oil reduce free radical damage that can lead to heart disease and high blood pressure. Coconut oil is anti-inflammatory and has been shown to lower cholesterol levels, making it heart healthy. (Journal of Environmental Pathology and Toxicology, 1936, H. Kaumitzy, "Medium Chain Triglycerides in Aging and Atherosclerosis)

    Immune Support

Coconut oil has high amounts of lauric acid, which supports the immune system by destroying harmful bacteria and encouraging friendly bacteria to grow in the intestinal tract. Coconut oil has also been shown to fight other infections, such as kidney and bladder infections. (Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 1996, B.W. Petschow, "Susceptibility of H. Pylori to Bactericidal Properties of Medium Chan Monoglycerides and Free Fatty Acids)

    Weight Loss

Many people are leery of eating fat, because they believe it will slow their metabolism and cause weight gain. Dr. Bruce Fife, author of Healing Miracles of Coconut Oil, cited more than 100 studies that validate coconut oil stimulates metabolism and helps cells produce energy. You may wonder how saturated fat can increase metabolism. Coconut oil, a medium-chain fatty acid is not stored as body fat; it is converted to energy by the liver which stimulates metabolism.

    Gallbladder Friendly

Coconut oil is gallbladder friendly because it does not require bile or any other pancreatic fat-digesting enzymes to be digested. (Price-Pottenger Nutrition Foundation Health Journal, 1998, Mary Enig, P.H.D. "Health and Nutritional Benefits from Coconut Oil")

    Natural Sunscreen and Moisturizer

Coconut oil nourishes the skin. It can be used as a natural sunscreen that allows our bodies to absorb the beneficial vitamin D from the sun! I have used and recommend it for dry, irritated skin, especially in the winter.

    Cooking with Coconut Oil

I use coconut oil in a variety of ways. I use it to roast vegetables and when I stir-fry because it is stable and will not be damaged by high heat. You can bake with it, too. I make homemade almond joys using shredded coconut, coconut oil and chopped almonds (topped with dark chocolate). The possibilities are endless. I have fried eggs in it. I use coconut milk in smoothies and in soups. It makes a great substitute for cream in quiche and egg-bake recipes! I even have eaten a tablespoon of coconut oil right before I run. (Remember I said it is a great source of energy!)

As for other coconut milk-based products, such as the ice cream and frozen treats, they are okay, but have a lot of added sugar. The ice cream tastes good, but a small amount goes a long way. Think of these products as treats that you indulge in once in awhile. Coconut milk products are a nice alternative for those of us who can't tolerate dairy.

And YAY for coconut oil & milk! I just bought coconut milk yesterday to make some curry later this week. I really don't believe saturated fat (from healthy sources) is the enemy. I mean, isn't it funny that the consumption of all these "low fat" and "diet" products directly corresponds to a huge increase in health problems (also taking into consideration that the technology used to diagnose health problems has improved so that accounts for some of the increase)? I'm loving lstpaul's nutrition class. Eat smaller amounts of real food and move more. Should be simple enough, right?

Blech... I woke up this morning to TOM rearing its ugly head. (And the scale proving it... LAME)

I would like to post a small vent about the MORONS I have to deal with at work (because I restrained from letting her have it, which should be my proud moment for today).

Trucking company: I need to schedule a delivery.
Me: Okay... where are you delivering? (PS - we have THREE different plants: Ohio, Virginia, Nevada)
    Trucking company: DUH! Virginia

Now how the hell am I supposed to know that!?!

    /rant

This is day 2 that I've had to ask the same woman for her destination. Is it that hard to provide all of the information? AHHH!

You mean she isn't the ONLY person you schedule deliveries for? My employees do the same thing. One will come to my office and say "remember when I talked to you about blah blah blah 5 months ago?" And then they act so highly offended when I say "Um.. yeah, no. Who are you? Do you even work here?" C'mon, folks. There's 1400 of you.

tstout: I would be irritated too  , I have no motivation to be at work this week and everyone is irritating me.
I can't wait until Friday (I work from home, and I'm taking the afternoon off to head to a casino/hotel for a night to celebrate my birthday with my hubby, and meeting an old college roomate for lunch there who shares my birthday (well almost - she was born on 2/29).
    checking in:
calories: good - it's been a challenging week but I'm holding steady
exercise: good - an hour walk with a friend
    water: not so good
proud: that I stuck with my lunch plan to eat only 1/2 of the baked potato with cheese, and ate the other half for dinner

tonight is Red Lobster for my birthday dinner with my family ... another challenge. My plan is crab legs, some butter (but not go overboard), 1 glass of wine, salad instead of clam chowder, and only 1/2 of the potato, and no cheesy buns.
