Hi everyone. I have decided to take a hiatus for awhile, not forever but for awhile. I do love this wonderful group of women and men. I love to have come to know your families. I like the stories, the jokes, the songs. They lift me when I am down and always inspire me. Several of you have been my dear friends for many years. I do thank you for your care and concern for Neil. I believe that the people here have helped me to mostly maintain my 20 pound loss although I still have a long way to go to get to my goal. When my life is in a place where I get my diet ( WW for me) back on track I will be back. I will continue to check my home page and mail. I will miss you and I do wish you all well.

    Take care, Gayla

GAYLA; has something happened that we can perhaps help with? Or is the time involved on the computer overwhelming at this time? I know we will miss you here, but perhaps it can be somrthing more intermittent that will be less burden and more comfort for you. If there is any way we can be of support, help or just "here" for you, please let us know! You have been such a welcome stalwart brave and really wonderful role model, we will miss you very much.

    CONNIE asked
I've seen the new styles with the rounded bottoms that claim to burn more calories and build more muscle. Has anyone tried them?

I'm a very big shoe maven :explode::laugh:   and to tell you the truth, ALL sneakers today are made outside the counrty, including NB! They used to be made in MA, but no more. Google your favorite style and see if you can find some somewhere, like Joe's New Balance Outlet or Zappo. Sometimes if you call, they can recommend what to do! New Balance had the best high toe box, and wider toe area than most other makes, a nice round front. Joe's may be able to tell you what is the closest fit to your favorite, as they have different lasts, and not all New Balance are equal! Once I found my best fit, I ordered 4 to 6 pair at a time at discount!
As far as the new round heels, according to Consumers' Report, they do nothing except tire the walker, so I crossed them off my list. But do Google them to find other remarks than the manufacturer, who always try to get us to spend more money!
Try <Deals@JoesNewBalanceOutlet.com> or just their website and get the phone # there! And good luck!

    Hello Sneakers,

Aarrggh! I just spent ages typing a post, then it disappeared in an instant! Where did it go? Its not the first time tonight either. Anyway, here we go again!

It was my son Jon' birthday today 26 years. He and his OH invited us round for a birthday meal. Creamy spaghetti carbonara and chocolate birthday cake:explode: My absolute favourites:heart: I took a small portion of carbonara, whereas once I would have piled my plate high:bigsmile: But sadly I could not refuse the chocolate cake ( I am a self confessed chocaholic) but I accepted a very small slice:smile: Although I have been struggling recently I felt I did'nt do too badly and after all the hard work that Emily (Jons OH) put in I did'nt want to upset her.:noway:
I weighed in before I went and gained most of what I had lost previously  I hasten to add, that this was not all done in a week but over a couple of weeks, and I think I was playing ostrich and trying to ignore it, cos I did'nt weighed myself:huh: It would'nt go away, so I have now lifted my head out of the sand and adjusted my ticker back to 0lb:cry::sad:
After reading all the recent posts, I am looking forward to a fresh and more positive start tomorrow, thanks to you all. :drinker:
I think back to the time when I gave up smoking, and I knew deep within that I was going to succeed after many failed attempts. I have that feeling back again, this time with my food:bigsmile:

Maddie:Please don't leave:cry: You have had such an impact on me already:bigsmile: I need you, you can't go:sad:

Gayla: I have'nt had a chance to get to know you , but I wish you all the very best:sad: :flowerforyou:

Barbie: Thank you for your tips. I shall check them out:flowerforyou:

Marie: Thank you for your offer of help. I shall be calling on you soon I think:flowerforyou: You may regret it tho:laugh:

Connie: Good luck tonight. Remember the fridge is evil late at night. It wants us to give in, but we wont . We shall be strong and overcome this night terror and feel great in the morning:bigsmile:

Well I am off to bed early again:smile:
    Nite nite:yawn:

    Connie said .............

Looking for a brand of low-sodium, non-fat or reduced fat cottage cheese. Dean's used to make it but they claim it didn't sell. There is a dairy in Minnesota (Hi-V, I think) that makes it but they do not ship and are only regional. Any ideas?

    Hello Ladies,

I just can't believe all the post, I'm devastated by some many wonderful friends leaving, Gayla I will miss you so much, you were the one to get me involved with this group:angry::angry:  all this time I found support & Love by most of everyone, that doesn't mean because I don't agree with everyone that is a bad thing, we all have different views that is no reason to pack up and leave us:noway: :noway: :noway: This is a very sad day, I hope all my other friends are here to support each other everyday, I know I have been gone but I'm back to be part of this wonderful family.

Vacation time has been hard even so I was good, so now back to exercise and counting calories, I had a great time and if I had to do over I will do the same, I had a ball and I kepp healthy habits:heart::heart:

    Have a wonderful evening everyone,

MARIE      Thanks for the beautiful flowers.

We had a full day taking Mom to the Respitory specialist. She thinks Mom is doing pretty good but wants her to stop the prednisone (very low dosage) she is on for COPD. If she feels really awful again after stopping it then she may have to go on it again. Have any of you had experience with COPD?

Good day so far. I'll try for the treadmill later.

Deb, just reading those words sphaghetti and creamy, it makes me drool! I could eat that and never miss meat again!
now the choc. Cake is different for me. I Was a chocoholic, but choc is no longer my friend. Esophaughus trouble and choc is an irritant to it. So, I'd love to taste the cake, but I couldnt enjoy it. Anyway, small portions of things you love should not be as bad as going for refills! Lol, let me scrape the bowl! I can easily see how the pounds can jump back on. Its happening with me, and I am doing WW and staying within my point range. Since Buzz mentioned sodium, and my aunt is throwing out anything with salt in it, ( :-), and someone else mentioned menopause, I putting two and two together. Its my Guess that these two things are affecting my weight loss efforts. Even so, I'm going to keep at it.

Gayla, we will miss you. I love your posts, and I dont care what they are about. A day in your life is not dull, never!
Marie, dont worry, we will not leave you. By the way, you didnt mention your meals, does this mean xyla is back? Are you still on OA?
Buzz suggested my aunt follow the mederterranian diet. I m going to talk to her about it thiweekend.

We are in sunny Santa Maria, CA. I thought we were going to get a load of strawberries, they are very good grown around here. Instead it is lettuce.
Let me ask you all, they say some radiation has been detected here in CA. Do you think there is any. Reason yet to be concerned about contamination in our foods? I especially wonder about strawberries.

    Welcome back Gigi!
jeri, I am clueless about COPD. I think Gayla could have helped you there. (
Connie, I cant think how you might find low sodium cottage cheese, or any other cheese. Isnt there some way to render yogurt into a cheese? Am I nuts? It is something to do with a sieve. If so, that greek yogurt is lower in sodium.
Since you are 'in the boondocks' you might want to google what you need to make your own cottage cheese. A cow? LOL!

I have spent most of the day making preparations for our trip to California.....the pets are boarded, the suitcases are packed including food and food related stuff so we can stay out of restaurants as much as possible, and we've finished cleaning the house so it will look perfect so real estate agents can show it while we are gone, we signed a new associate for our business, and now I am able to sit down at the computer to check in with all of you

I am so sad to hear that there have been hurt feelings among us. If I have said anything to offend, I am deeply sorry, and want all to know that I love you and mean no disrespect to anyone.

   Gayla, I will miss you and your family. I look forward to reading your late night posts when I get up in the morning. it will not be the same without you

   Maddie, I will miss you a lot. You have added so much cheer to my daily reading of the thread.

:flowerforyou: my favorite shoes are Skechers Shape Ups......I don't know if they tone and shape the way the ads say but they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I have three pairs and I wear them almost all the time including when I line dance. They make me feel taller and bouncier and I seem to walk faster and more than I used to. I bought my first pair at a local store, the second pair at Famous Footwear, and the third pair at Costco.

:flowerforyou: we leave early tomorrow morning. It will take us two days to get to Fortuna, CA.....we'll be in Fortuna and Eureka for a week and then take two days to drive home. We will take the laptop computer and I should have time to post while we're gone.

      hugs to all
