Welcome everyone!

This group is being started to lend support and motivation to those who are TTC, or plan to TTC. This group blossomed from another group (Pregnancy - 2011).

Fit For Families is not for pregnant women, I would ask that you join our sister group for like-minded support and motivation (they're really great there!!). http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/138358-pregnancy-march-2011

For those who have recently had a little one, there is a post-partum group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/131954-postnatal-group-march-2011?page=3

This group is very goal-oriented (no matter what your goals are) and I hope will be a place for you to come share your story and track your progress.

Check in will be each Monday to keep us accountable over the weekend. Each week we set our own fitness or health goals, and the more suggestions the better!

I love this group!

Welcome one and all!

Blah - I was hoping for a much better loss this morning post AF. Only 0.7 when I went up 3???? I know I'm dehydrated this morning, but still.....this plateau's killing me.

    Happy April Fool's Day all!!!!
  • Just joining in now. I'm a wife of a wonderful husband of 5 wonderful and crazy years. I am a student in college and after a few miscarriages I've let myself go due to the fact that the stress, the heartbreak and the depression has gotten the worse of me. A friend on MFP told me about this thread and I wanted to join in. As several of my old friends have been telling everyone they are pregnant and has me in a really bad mood and depressed all over again. So I'm hoping this thread will keep me going. At least give me hope.

    glad you made it :-)

I have weighing and measuring tonight, fingers crossed (been a bad week and I have been snacking where I shouldn't)
  • I weighed myself in this morning and well I haven't snacked b/c I cut out buying sweets and everything else but my pop but guess I wasn't pushing myself hard enough b/c I gained most of my weight back. That is a really downer b/c I thought I was doing good. Looks like it's time to start working out more. Just wish I had someone here at home to push me b/c my husband works 3rd. He sleeps or is at work and it like no one is here. Well normally there isn't but honestly two cats and two dogs aren't gonna push me like he would. Oh well I will have to see what I can do.

Posting to say good luck on weight loss and TTC in April and so that I don't lose track of you all.

    Much love! :flowerforyou:
  • Happy April Everyone!
I'm putting the scale away for a month. I tend to become a slave to the scale and let it determine how I feel about myself. I have been pretty good with only weighing myself once a week or so, but for April I'm putting it away and going to continue tracking my food religiously.
This morning I have a long run planned.

Awww Erica - I just realized what the BFP really means :( LOL Yes, I'm a little slow........To you and all the other thread stalkers (I know who you all are!!! LOL), miss you guys and can't wait to join you on the pregnancy thread.

    Welcome to all the newbies!!!

Pixie - my fingers are crossed for you.....I hate the anticipation of what is coming when you wait for a weigh in....especially if you're not sure you gave it everything ....

Angel - I will push you, if you push me.....LOL I have a DH at home ALL the time and he's no use. If I start craving something he runs to get it....even if I shouldn't..... LOL My dogs keep me walking daily - not really a workout per se, but movement is better than making a dent in the couch :)

Mgoe - that's such an awesome step!! I wish I could do it, but i'm a little OCD about the whole thing and need to weigh in every day.....

AFM (As for me): I feel like the mojo is gone and I'm looking for excuses. I read something this week that says you have to have a specific balance of two hormones for a lifestyle change to work......I know, I always blame the hormones but seriously. I've cut out white sugar (excpet I've been sneaking muffins for breakfast....bad PAM!!!), and most other things that could be causing the weight. I'm eating under calories daily and yet......plateau.......GRRRR the first 50 were so dang easy that I'm stressing that I've been waiting to hit 60lbs lost since Nov 11 (which was the date of the fertility treatment where she said she thoguht the loss i've had should be enough to help witht he fertility stuff). I know it's mental.....but it's not fair!!!!! Oh AND I realized that I was only 3 days late for my last AF, which is close enough, in my books to still call myself fairly regular, espec. with the amount of stress I had in March.....My average cycle is 33 days at this point :D and I have a 14 day LP......so all systems go for me!!! Now to get DH up to scratch and then ICSI in May/June (pushed back because of a work trip that I don't want to tell my boss I can't go for because I'm getting knocked up...LOL Just easier this way)

Thanks pam, results were ok. Not as much weight as I hoped but five inches this month woohoo. I'm sure you'll break the plateau soon!

Things will get better angel, think we all need a push sometimes. I definitely do

Just something to keep in mind. Found this to be an interesting read. If you know you have low B-12 levels, might want to make sure you're adequately supplementing or eating to manage the condition....you'll save yourself a lot of trouble down the road. Seems like they come out with something like this every 5 minutes though....teh theory behind it is sound though....why tempt fate :)

Happy April everyone! I must say, time is flying by! Which is awesome bc everyday is one day closer to the hubster coming home! It's been tough not being able to even hear his voice. Having to souly rely on emails sucks bc he is a TERRIBLE penpal...

Erica - I vote you can stay and Heather and AnneElisa and Ron can come back! Until that baby comes out your "family" is still future right? I mean common...hehe

Pam - Try changing around how often you eat...My friend is a nutritionist and she helped me break the horrible 3 month plateu I had last summer. Eat every 2-3 hours, unfortunately even if your not hungry. I don't know if you are already doing this but it seems to help boost your motabolism

Welcome to all the new faces! I PROMISE I will eventually learn all of your names and stories...for now there is just so many! Which is GREAT!

Kim - I'm glad to see that things are doing better with your Niece. Sometimes people need that extra something to get them to realize what a huge "poop" head their being and do the right thing! I hope your feeling better!

AFM - CD 59....no AF. I have an appointment with the OBGYN on the 12th (that was the soonest i could get in and i made the appointment 3 weeks ago!). If AF hasn't shown up by then i'll ask to be put on provera if it has shown up i need to figure out why i'm having such INCREDIBLY long cycles! Doing better with the eating. My trainer went over a "plan of action" and she actually told me not to count calories. She wanted me to eat certain types of food and gave me a list of authorized things to eat and in what portion size. I worked out with her yesterday and she showed me how to do all the machines she wants me to do when i'm working out bymyself. I'm going to start on monday. I don't have time this weekend bc I'm getting new couches and i'm planning on doing some spring cleaning and clean out my sons room!

Yay Hopey!!! How exciting that he is coming home. I don't know how you all do it--my husband leaves for a week on a trip and I feel like it's the end of the world!

Welcome to April everyone--I lost 10 lbs last week. APRIL FOOLS! Haha. Actually, I was up .2 from last week. Grrrrr...but my eating was so crazy this past week, maybe next week will show more steady progress.

Well, I have all my cupcakes baked for Sunday. 85 cupcakes...sitting in my kitchen...staring at me. Luckily it is a bit easier since I'm staying away from white flour for Lent. I will admit, I did slip and sample the batter and a bite of a cupcake to make sure they were okay. And, I am eating pizza for dinner with my nieces, whom we are sitting tonight. I know that's got all sorts of white flour in it, but I didn't pick the menu, so I'm just going with it...and I know I will enjoy it. Tomorrow I ice the cupcakes...which is the fun and nervewracking part...wish me luck. One of my nieces wants to grow up to be "cake boss"--so I took my leftover batter and made a little cake. I think I'm going to see if they want to help me "decorate" it. We'll see how that goes. Should be enough to have them all sugared up before they go home with mom and dad tonight--what are aunts and uncles for? Heehee.

Welcome to the new people, hi to all the "oldies", Stop in to say hi Erica, and baby dust to everyone. T minus 10 days till we see the fertility specialist. I'm really kinda enjoying this "vacation" from tracking and charting and all that. I'm enjoying it while I can. Have a good weekend everyone....

Hi all!! So excited to have found this group. My name is Susan and I've been married to my DH for almost 4 years and we've been together for a total of 9. I'm 33 going on 34 this summer. I have 2 gorgeous teenage step children (I prefer to call them bonus kids, but no one seems to understand what I mean when I say that). I have a 3 year old furbaby that has helped me practice how to speak baby talk. haha

Docs have told me that I should lose some weight (approx 30 lbs) and that should help with us TTC. I also have high BP and I'd like to get that under control. AND (the list goes on) my cycle is approx every 35 to 40 days so I've been advised that I may also need the help of some fertility drugs. Sometimes I feel so alone in this process because everyone around me seems to get pregnant without much effort. Or if they do have an issue, it's only one whereas I have multiple.

Now that I've got that out of the way, I'm loving MFP. I haven't lost any weight in the past 2 weeks, but I'm pretty sure it's cuz TOM is on the way. Not to mention I haven't been eating back my exercise calories. I find it difficult to eat every 2 to 3 hours, but I'll keep trying. Hopefully someone here will have some helpful tips!!

Look forward to getting to know some of you ladies. Happy Friday!! :)

Alisa - yup - I started doing that about a week and a half ago. I'm trying not to count calories either and focus more on the portions and counts of certain types of foods (Thanks Heather for that tip on the books) Sounds like we're doing similar things except for the gym piece. My first OB appt I had to wait 6 months (and I had AF for something like 3 months at that point.....my doctor was MAD....LOL) Since then if I call, they find time for me. Hopefully they can figure out the answers.....mine was the weight loss and the medications. Oh and yay on the new couches

Ashley - Good...I would have had to track you down and find you :)

Hopey - there are a few of us on here with April birthdays then :) I know Erica's is towards the end of the month too :) I'm not sure what DH is getting me for my birthday but I think it's going to be something crazy.....his point of view is that soon all our disposable income will be going towards a third party....LOL

Karen - I'm not sure I want to help decorate, but I don't mind helping EAT it......the sugar cravings have been soooooooo bad that I went to the grocery store after work fully determined not to go into the bakery. But I did of course and wanted to put all the baked goods in my cart and be done.....LOL I picked up my rye bread and moved on to meats...but oh that bakery is haunting me......It's all because I gave the sugar up for lent......It's been tough and I haven't been great about it either. Last year with pop I was great and I am no longer addicted.......this year I just know the sugar's gonna come back.....

Susan - Welcome. Totally get the bonus kids comment.....It's good that it sounds like you have a great relationship with your stepkids. My cycles used to average 45 days (but that is between 130 day and 12 day cycles) and I seem to have evened out at 33 days after losing 50+ lbs in the last year, so it does work. Do the doctors have any idea what's causing the prolonged cycles?

I love those kids, but they are teenagers so there are times when I wanna lock them in their rooms and throw away the keys. haha But for the most part, they make me smile.

I had an HCG done a couple years ago and there are no blockages. Since I've lost some weight, my cycle has started to come every 30 or so days now. I've had these long cycles for the past few years so it's a bit of an adjustment to have a period every month. It's been a surprise when it comes. haha But it's a good thing cuz it means I'm on the right track. Doc says that she thinks it's my weight. I'm short and round. haha She has prescribed clomid, but for whatever reason I'm kinda nervous about taking it. Every time I'm considering it, I start having dreams of multiples and I get freaked out!! haha

    Happy April!

Going up to the inlaws for a "nail weekend!" Fun times! It's going to take some will-power to keep my potions down and keep up on my water, crunches, and push ups. I WILL do it!
I hope everyone has a good weekend. I'll catch up with everyone when I get back!

Happy April Everyone! It's late and I haven't been on here much, and I want to take the time to reply to everyone, so I'll check back in later. I think about you ladies every day! :-) I think I just ovulated this month so that's a good thing! So I guess it's a 2WW for me now....I'm not going to think about it though...yeah, right! Good night!

Hopey- I'm excited for you to have your hubby with you at home again soon!

Welcome everyone! I'm so happy you have all joined the thread. For all you others still reading the thread and deciding if you should join us with your TTC stories please do! I know I read the thread for about a month before actually joining and I'm soooo happy I did!!!

AFM: One of the best workouts ever! I don't know why I was so motivated but I actually lifted, did crunches, and a full stretch as well as the normal hour cardio. I wish I always felt like this!!! Going to my friend's baby shower tomorrow, I'm hoping I can stay happy for her the entire time and not get down...I think I will be fine as long as I don't get the dreaded question, "When are you going to get pregnant?"OR "You still trying, or is their news?" Some people are just clueless!

Kim - enjoy your weekend, even if you overindulge just enough :) You and DH do so many renovations that a weekend away to luxurize yourself will only help you out :)

Sexy 6 - you're absolutely right it is :) It's important to start before being pregnant so you're good to go before you even know you are, although on this board of early testers......LOL that would only be a day or two.....

Ucam - 2WW.....definitely focus on things you can do - stress is not going to be your friend :) Now's the time to pick up a hobby or something.... Nothing more can be done this cycle :) So enjoy it!!!

Luki - You stalked us for a month???? LOL That's pretty cool!! Glad your workout went so well. I know I have days when I absolutely just want to lace up and run for a bit (which is such a strange sensation and truth be told running in my head and running for real are always two very different things.....LOL) My problem with it is that it makes all other workouts pale in comparison.....You have to get to the point that you have that kind of feeling every time :)

Anne - Are you really 22 weeks along already????? OMG You're almost halfway there!!!!! Can't wait to hear she's arrived!!!

And as for me: I had my monthly chiropractic appointment yesterday and he definitely pointed out that my hip was out of alignment on the left. I've known taht for a few weeks at this point.....when I went to he garden show and walked for 4 hours when I sat down, I couldn't move for a few minutes. So he gave me my stretches and sent me on my way but I also learned two critical things for me. 1. After an adjustment I just want to sleep - yup, it was another 12 hour night for me. 2. My core muscles really need to be strengthened - not just for weight loss but when I went to sit up after the adjustment every core muscle I own from my hips to my ribs screamed at me, just a little becuase I got up without the support of my arms.......so that's going to be my focus. It should help me whittle myself something of a waist at the same time.......I've been noticing more and more my belly seems round instead of flat. I know it's just my body shape changing becuase of the weight loss but I know one of these days someone's going to ask if I'm pregnant.....LOL

OMG - I just weighed in for the morning and I hope that it stays like that for Monday!!!!! Seriously....I'm at my lowest weight by 0.5lbs!!! Don't think I'm going to meet my mini goal by my birthday, but I'd like to be out of the 230s (even that would be a stretch)......time to commit in a big way and see what I can do in 9 days!!!!

I hate when people ask those questions. My daughter and I went to lunch with the in-laws this week, and my MIL had my 3 y/o ask me for a baby brother or sister...umm...hello?! I lost a baby in February! And the MIL KNOWS this!! Because of the medication to end the tubal pregnancy, I can't get pregnant for AT LEAST 3 months or I will miscarry. Some people.......
sorry to hijack, just had to vent that...

    Good morning everyone!

    Erica - congratulations!

Pam - sounds like you're doing something right!

AFM: I bought a bikek last night, and I'm super excited to use it (I've wanted one for awhile). As soon as this crazy storm passes I'll be on it! DH and I also just signed up for soccer-baseball for the season. I'm excited about that!

I'm back up to where I was, but will officially log on Monday. Also, today is looking to be CD1 of TTC Cycle 9.... argh. So 2 rounds of Clomid done and nothing. I have my OB appt in May and I can't wait - I know it's progesterone that I need - my LP is too short.

Also, we have our Info Session for the adoption on Monday night. Get this: when I was doing the intake form they told us that there is a 1 -2 year wait for PRIDE training for people who want kids under 5.... and then there is a 1 - 2 year wait for placement! We're prepared to wait, but that's ridiculous! Oh well, maybe we'll be lucky.

    Welcome newbies!

Hopey - that really is low. I am so used to the questions, but if I had a situation like that I might have gone just a little postal. My inlaws never ask questions.....they figure we'll talk when we're ready....we don't want to push it on people so we only offer what is asked....

Jalara - that's on the low end of the wait time actually. We were approved before PRIDE was required but the wait times at that point in Ontario for a non-special needs child under 5 is about 7 years overall (and the CAS approval process was similar to the current PRIDE requirements). We have the option though of going throuhg private adoptions not mandated by the province - which could be as little as 9 months for an infant....Awesome on the bike!!!! I used to love riding, but since I put the weight on I hate riding because my belly gets in the way and I have to worry about sturdiness and stuff. I know I told myself that when I hit 200 I'd do horseback riding, but have since found out I'm hugely allergic to horses....LOL Myabe I'll change that goal to buying a bike. Once we do the mat leave stuff, I think we're going to need bikes anyways since we choose to have one car only and we're in a small town anyways. The grocery store is 5 minutes walking, but if we wanted to take the kids to the library for the day, that would be about a 30 minute walk carrying a small child. With a bike that would cut it down to about 10 minute ride.....hmmmm.....maybe that's what we buy for each other for our 10th anniversary this fall.....
