I'm glad he's gone. I know this is a hot topic, but the likes of Osama would never "negotiate" with America or any other "infidels" for that matter. His desire was not to co-exist peacefully with us. We were to be taken down, destroyed, anihilated.

Like a rattlesnake, better to kill than be killed. Besides, his death was a lot less brutal than a lot of those murdered by him and his minions. But it's not over yet to be sure.

My Brother was in the Army(Infantry). But we lost him to this war September 22, 2004 in Iraq. After 7 years of not having him here, after 7 years knowing he was killed in the line of duty this news is a relief to me. It hurts to have someone taken away from you when they were so close to coming home. He was an awesome person, he was going to go very far in life but it was cut soooo short. My Brother had just turned 21 on September 18, 2004 and was supposed to return home to us the next month but did not make it back alive. Its tragic that he was taken from us. After a year and a half of him being over there we lost him. He was supposed to be married, supposed to have kids, supposed to be alive with us now. But because of 9/11 because of Osama Bin Laden he was taken from us. The pain will always be there and my entire family will never be over him being gone, but the thought of this other man being gone.... is relief to me.

Your brother paid the ultimate price for our freedom. I am honored to say thank you. God bless you and your family.

Thank you and thank you to your son as well as your Dad that has served in our Military.

Thanks for that. I was just trying to make a point - but I thank you so much for your appreciation of our troops!

I think maybe some people need to take a deep breath and step back from this topic for a little while. Lets make sure this topic stays in the realm of discussion and stays out of the "argument" zone.

    thank you.

Good point! You can't make everyone happy!

Sorry to all for my rants. Not usually like me to argue against someone elses opinions. It's been a very emotional day around my house today.

Don't worry about it, its an emotional topic. I can see why you would argue. I mean I would like to argue a bit too but some people just see things differently and thats ok. I have learned to accept that not everyone is going to be on the same page as me at times. :) its ok mama

    Thanks for that! :)

THE *kitten* IS FINALLY DEAD!!! reading through this thread is really disappointing, since when did everyone become so damn self righteous? Sorry but my heart and dedication lies with our soldiers and the lives lost defending OUR country!!! So saying that your "sad" about Osama's death is a big slap in our soldiers face. what is wrong with you people? Just think of all the lives spared because of this victory!

Agree. LOTS of folks have memory loss when it comes to the history of the sacrifices our people have made to defend those who want to forget. Visit Arlington sometime. THAT should wake anybody up.

I was saying the same thing to my husband this morning about how wrong it is to celebrate the death of a human being. He didn't understand because he is an Army soldier himself. He came in from PT this morning dancing around saying the *kitten* is finally dead! All while doing a victory dance. I looked at him in disgust and pleaded my case and he simply said that my lack of enthusiasm was "un-american"...whatever!

And this is the downfall of our country.
Either you are pro-war and think it's fine to celebrate the death of "terrorists" while overlooking the fact that the Iraq war made us "terrorists" by definition.
Or you're against the war, and you are now un-american.

It's sad that people don't realize that the terrorist think they're doing the right thing. Just like we think our soldiers are doing the right thing.
Not trying to defend them at all, I'm just saying both sides are doing some terrible things, and the blood is on our hands.

We didn't start this war - THEY did. They made the mistake of bringing it to our shores. And ten years later, WE TOOK OUT THE TRASH. I'm not pro war - at all. I have te biggest stake in this that anyone can have. My son is aboard the ship that did the sea burial. I couldn't be more proud of him and all of our troops. WE are not terrorists. We are fighting against a terrorist act on OUR soil. Don't call our troops terrorists. That IS unamerican.

I'm with Nailrep on this one!! BTW: Thank you for your sacrifice and for your beautiful Son and his service for our Country!!:flowerforyou:

That dancing outside the White House last night? The terrorists were doing that on 9/11.

The people that want all of Al Queda dead? Not ALL that much better than the people who want all of any other group dead.
No one should WANT anyone dead. Its just not nice.

    oh wow.

You can't understand the fundamental difference between people cheering the deaths of roughly 3,000 innocent people and the cheering of the death of an evil individual responsible for those thousands of deaths?

You apparently don't understand the fundamental goal of Al Qaeda. If you did, your land of peace, rainbows, and unicorns would be shattered.
  • Osama is dead...his followers aren't, they are mourning and they are angry. They have televisions too and they are watching us smile, laugh, drink, party and rejoice to his death. How many people are praying we have an excellent protection plan and that safety precautions everywhere are on the highest levels? I know I sure am...have fun now cuz the party is about to be crashed. I am not convinced he is dead, I think this is just like the stunt Bush pulled saying there were weapons of mass destruction ....lol.....I don't believe anything right now, whether he is alive ir dead, our country is still and will remain messed up for a VERY long time. Our leadership, no matter who, has to learn how to take care if home First!!!!

I'm a proud Navy wife and have seen how hard our military men/women work to take care of our country. Very proud of them. I wasn't completely supportive of how we started this war but we did need to do something. At least the big ol' bad guy is dead. I'm nervous that sometime in the future they will get even with us. I don't believe we can win the war on terror. It's been around too long and we're dealing with a very strong faith. They feel they have nothing to lose. We got the bad guy, now we should just try to keep our country safe and back off from their countries.

And might I note that after UBL killed over 3,000 Americans, terrorists beheaded our american journalist, and then caught and killed our soldiers and dragged them thru the street ....The Americans rose above all of that and gave that scum a proper burial according to his religion. We are not the pigs here. They are.

Look, guys, I dont think Americans are bad people. I just don't see the point in dancing through the streets over the death of a terrorist leader. Dance at home where terrorists can't get footage of us and get angry. I just don't want to encourage their crap.
I don't like the "we should've ripped his body apart" "Obama should've come to that speech holding his head" and other such attitudes. I don't like people automatically fearing a backlash. I don't like that it took so long and so much money for Osama to no longer seem like a threat when, really, the people following him are a threat the same with or without him....

I'm sick of arguing and trolling this thread, some people are just brick walls.

and, no, I dont think the family members of service members for our country have a right to act like they can speak for anyone or have a right to be an authority on this whole matter. Everyone has an opinion, but right now I think the death of Osama is doing just what they wanted it to do to us.

Hi again Jovialation! Um, the last statement you made in this quote that says, "Everyone has an opinion, but right now I think the death of Osama is doing just what they wanted it to do to us." is a bit confusing.

It sounds like you are saying that his death was planned by his own people for the purpose of driving the American people into angry arguments. If that is your meaning, then I hope you will pardon me in saying that is something of an absurdity that does not fit into what actually took place. The American people and government are the ones who took Osama out of the picture. I do believe this precious mother, Nailrep has an opinion worth listening to as she has first hand experience with our military who is very involved in this war on terrorism. I think she speaks for a very real group of people that feel the very same way she does. I in fact do feel exactly as she does. I know there are alot of people that have differing opinions and that is what it is and no one should insult anyone with name calling, I agree. There are many people who are passionate about this Country and defend it's right to freedom and when they hear people talking like their efforts are vanity it is infuriating for them. I am one who has a great passion for this Country! I am angry with people who speak disrespectfully of our Government and Country too, but as a citizen of this great Country I am exercising the wonderful freedom of speech that has been fought for me to communicate with you in as kind a manner as I can without insulting you. You are entitled to your opinion indeed and the men and women who fight for that freedom would agree with me including this precious mom, Nailrep! I am going to appeal to you to take a step back from being argumentative for the sake of being right or just simply argumentative and try to see this from the perspective of this precious mom and myriad of people like her. Peace to you!

I'll bite because I'm brave like that. xD

I feel....nothing really. Sure, I believe the man should have been caught. I'm not rejoicing over his murder....because that is what really messed up people do. As I posted in my status update today, I am very conflicted about things of this nature. The manner in which we went over there and how people are acting now (dancing in streets, celebrating) makes this seem like it's all about revenge, when really it should have been much more then that. A friend of mine said it best when she said she felt like the White queen in Alice and Wonderland saying "I understand the need for him to no longer exist but I take no pride in the death of another man." <<< I feel the same way. Taking pride and celebrating murder will not help us achieve peace. Instead it just perpetuates the never ending cycle of hatred in this world. I can promise you now, weather they are successful or not, they are plotting their revenge on us. Life will go on like this til the day I die. Back and fourth back and fourth... <<<That's not something I'm proud of. Call me un American, I don't really give a ****. At least I try to be a decent human.

    Exactly.

Its one thing to feel like this is progress. It's another to think death is a good thing. It doesn't matter what an evil person he was. What matters is that it had to come this far. PERIOD.

I know people over there too. Not just in the service, but Middle Eastern citizens who respect our men and women for being over there. Not because we are a bigger and badder country, but because we are HUMAN. Terrorists don't think that way. They are all about what belongs to them, what they deserve, what they want. Two worngs don't make a right. So coming back with things like they deserve what they get, we are a better country, bomb them all, and fighting amongst ourselves does not make us look much different than they do. Someone said earlier in this thread that the "innocent" people deserved to get blown up because they allow these thing to go on in their country. Lest we forget what makes us such a great country? We have rights and power in our government that other countries don't. Simple 4th grade history can teach us that. It is this kind of ignorance that leads to misunderstandings that lead to us tearing each other apart.

We don't see our bombings over there as a bad thing. But the citizens over there, well it kind of messes up their day. Many were forced to come here because they had no other place to go. They didn't have a say in what goes on, we are the country that has the freedom to talk *kitten* about the people in charge. There, you might get killed.

And to clarify about the cheering in the streets..... After 9/11 our media played video of the people of the Middle East celebrating. First of all, some of those tapes were old and not filmed after 9/11. Second, Most people were mourning. Earlier in this thread someone said "Don't believe everything you see on TV" So true. Of the people I know in Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Lebonon-- there were no celebrations. Why, because the WHOLE THING is SAD. Every single aspect of it. What those terrorist did was hijack an entire religion and use it against us along with our planes. They stand for nothing more than themselves and should not be confused with the decent men and women of the Middle East. At the same time, they believe in what they are doing just as strongly as we do.

We had 9/11 in my lifetime. Not to take away from the magnitude of the situation, but thats it. We don't have war on our soil. But if we keep up this self righteous attitude, we will. Every great empire will fall. History has taught us nothing. We will not be the giant gorrilla in the jungle forever. What good would it do to disrespect his body after we gave him the greatest disrespect of all by killing him? So we could all act like we tell our children not to? He's dead. Problem solved. Now lets quit all the b*tching and move on to phase two because this isn't over by any means. Save your celebrations for the end of the war, not the death of one man.

People call me unAmerican all the time. I believe in recycling and not polluting. I cast my vote at EVERY election based on research not TV commercials and rumors. I write to and call my senators and congress woman when I don't like what I see. I believe in the Constitution and what it stands for. I exercise my rights to free speech and peaceful protest. Apparently, these are things that make me different from the rest of my fellow Americans. How sad is that. I stand for our freedom, but because I do it peacefully and without anger and hate I am unAmerican. My friends who are serving over seas, they love this country, but you know what. Not all of our soldiers over there are proud of this. They are sick to their stomachs. While we are here calling each other names and fighting with each other, they are there being killed for our right to do this.

Tell them Osama is dead without proof of a body and they celebrate. Tell them Jesus died and rose without proof of a body and they speculate.

I think the coming back to life part is where people start questioning lol.

I remember the fear and worry every time my step dad was sent away during the Gulf war, I remember the same fear/worry when the ex was sent. . .a military spouse/family member has more right to their opinion on this topic than anyone else except those who had family/friends die in the horrid 9/11 attack

To those who have family members or who are in the military! THANKYOU! HOORAH!!!! I was proud of my step dad years ago, and am proud of anyone who's given the sacrifice.

I like you. Quite a bit, actually.

Just a reminder, religious or political debate is not allowed, up until now this topic has been mostly kept to an ethical and morality based debate, which is fine, but please refrain from outright religious comments, whether they be in jest or serious.

    thank you.
