I'm going to get a quick post in here before I head off to wonderful dentist appointments with the little ones and then off MFP for the day tomorrow to celebrate the 4th sans internet with the family. (BTW- We are finally interviewing a babysitter tomorrow so keep your fingers crossed since next week is my current sitters last week!!!)
I don't know about the lactose intolerant, maybe it crept up on me at 30? Lol. I only typically drink almond milk unless we are out of it. But after carb cut down, we'll check on that. The only carbs I typically eat are quinoa and brown rice. Maybe a rye bread if it's on sale. *who doesn't love a good sale* But I'm going to try to keep my carbs out of the evening categories for a bit and see how that goes. Quinoa is AMAZING and I'd hate to give it up since it is a good food. We shall see.
Have fun on the 4th. We are doing fireworks but I don't know about parade. I've lived in the same town since college and I couldn't tell you if we have a 4th parade! Fire, a couple drinks *DH tells me I need a 'loosen up' night lol*, and hanging out at the house sounds good enough to me.
That's good though that hubby walked with you. Sure a run would have been a better burn, but moving with the family is awesome and props to him for his loss! That's good too! Stick with the mindset of the last post and you'll come back on Friday with good reports I'm sure! You've got this. :flowerforyou:0 -
Happy 4th! See you when you get back!!0

Bah, back to work. Booo. It was ridiculous hard to get up for a workout and 3x as hard to make myself get ready for work. Is it ridiculous that I had to wear a dress because it was 80 at 7am but now I have a heater blowing on me because the AC in my office is colder than an igloo? Yes, yes I'd say it's ridiculous. (note to self: where one outfit to work, pack 2nd outfit for work)
How was your 4th? Mine was nice and low key. We hung out, the kids enjoyed the little 3x10 foot pool we put up in our 5x12 foot yard (little exaggeration...but not much!), and I cooked up a storm. Prepped all DH's lunches, mine, a pumpkin roll for him, protein vanilla blondies for me, plus some grab and go breakfasts. I'd say I was productive. (aside from sitting in the sun watching children freeze in an ice cold pool!) Usually we are always go go go for holidays. Driving here or there to see family etc, so it was nice to just unwind at home. Plus the interview with the new sitter went great and she'll start Monday. Lucky for her, my parents are on vacation next week so instead of having my 2 lil' monsters for 3 days- she gets 5 as an introduction to boys 101. LoL.
Today was strength, I need to get my butt moving in other ways besides just gym time so the kids and I went for a walk last night. Turned into a Mommy holds the dogs on a leash while pulling little man in a wagon trying not to run over big T whose riding his scooter. Needless to say, 20 minutes into it I needed ANOTHER shower and wanted to move my house OFF the hill we live on. I contemplated attaching the dogs to the wagon and praying...but maybe, another day. Next time, I think we'll try a local trail and I'll bribe my youngest to actually DO something like walk....0 -
Oh how I would have loved a low key 4th like that! Ours was CRAZY!! We were planning to go to the parade at my mom's house at 9:30 then swiming and lunch and head home so we could just chill the rest of the day. In preparation for all the food at my mom's I get up early, make breakfast for everyone and immediately head out for a 2 mile run (it was too soon after breakfast, so while I was good for the first mile, I wanted to up chuck the whole second mile). But since I only had 25 minutes to work out I had to book it home no matter how much I wanted to toss my cookies. OK we hussle around, get all our red, white and blue on and head up to my parents (30 minute drive). We do the parade (which was another 30 minute walk in the heat) and head back to my moms to get lunch ready at around 11.
Well my brother had to work and my sister in law was sick so they dropped on their 2.5 year old for us to watch. My husband and father go to get my invalid grandmother from the home so my mom and I are left with 2 kids trying to cook lunch (which was this ridiculious elaborate meal that my mother had never done before and hadn't started preparing, but I digress). Long story short, lunch was very late, Josie was cranky and after all was said and done I felt like I had run a marathon. Trying to race through cooking while watching the 2 kids and making sure they are not killing each other (19 months and 2.5 years, can we say terrible 2s times 2?) I spent. I clearly didn't need to run those 2 miles that morning. So needless to say when we finally did get home at 4pm yesterday I was wiped out but I still had to make dinner and lunches so I powered through and bedtime could not have come fast enough. I need a vacation day from my holiday!!!!:laugh:0 -
That's an intense 4th. I would definitely say you need a vacation day after that! Phew!
Great job on the loss this week. Awesome to have pounded out a drop on a holiday week- that's impressive!! Is that foot better? Oh, and how is the insurance situation? Any word?
I just keep plugging away. Sundays my weigh in 'officially' but I'm at 159 today. Not sure how the heck this happens. But whatever, just keep eating at a deficit and work out. Not much more that I can do besides something ridiculous like a detox or crash diet. And that will only mess me up more mentally.
Todays going to be an evening workout. I need a little Turbo Fire in my life tonight plus I downloaded the free Nike Training Club app last night. It looks pretty neat and I want to try out one of the workouts. Not changing up my overall plan just subbing a run (since its going to be in the mid-90s!!) for something cooler inside. I'm down with that!!0 -
Sorry to hear about your showdown with the scale. I know how demoralizing it can be to see something you don't want to see on that evil thing. Isn't it amazing how much a number can affect us? It is funny. I looked back at a swimsuit pic that was taken in Feb of this year and compared it to the one taken this week (the one that is on my profile now) and to me my stomach looks alot better and my thighs look alittle better. I thought it was only like a 5 pound difference sinec Feb but then I go back to my records and see that there was actually only a .2 pound difference. In the pic in Feb I was 130.6 and on Monday I was 130.4lb. It was very surprising because I think the tummy looks better (both the skin and the fat, haha). So I have to keep reminding myself of this when the scale is taunting me.
Speaking of a taunting scale, I weighed in a .8 pounds less than last week but it was mostly down from my unexplained rebound last week. I am still 3 pounds heavier (and measurements are also still up) that my lowest pre vacation weight. A loss is a loss but I am annoyed that I am now almost a month out from being back from vacay and haven't made any real progress (in scale weight and measurements). I thought I could cut my calories to 1500-1600, add in more cardio and the weight would be off. So far no luck. After 3 weeks of that routine, I haven't seen any real progress. So I am going back to what I was doing (diet wise) when I was seeing the best results. That was 1700-1800 calories a day plus a 1900-2000 calorie day once every week to 2 weeks. I am going to go back to that. The only thing I am not going back to at this point in the exercise. Back then I was doing S90. Now I am doing alot more cardio (with the running) and this program is more cardio based. I assumed more cardio would be helpful but maybe not. I will change up the diet and see what happens in the next few weeks and if I see nothing I might have to go back to S90 and KB for more weight training (I will need to keep the running on the weekends because it is the only workouts I can get in) but I want to give the new diet and workout plan time for me to adjust. I am also hoping for a whoosh any time now
We will get there. We just have to stay strong!!0 -
Oh and to answer your questions, my foot it almost back to 100%. The swelling way down and the skin is almost healed. I don't notice anything with it, so it is fine by me  As for insurance we are still waiting on car insurance money but the grand totals came to over $20k damage to the house and $18k damage to the cars. We got our new roof on Monday0
-
Glad that foot and the insurance is back on track. That's a definite plus. Not too mention it looked like you had a spot on weekend so great job with that as well.
I was happy to report a loss, even after seeing Spiderman and eating some popcorn with the family. I had to laugh because they were out of Diet so I had cherry coke. With monitoring my carbs, I assumed the popcorn did me in. Nope, the soda did. WTH? Dummy move...lol. Never thought about pop having carbs. Haha. Stayed with in calories since there was no need for a dinner after a movie and got a good workout in (plus a cool down walk since I locked my keys in the car and had to hoof it all the way home!!)
Yesterday was a spot on diet day and went to bed feeling good. Woke up even better when I stepped on the scale. So going into this week I'm feeling optimistic that the carbs have been my culprit. After some montoring, I will figure out a way to get my beloved quinoa in. But for now, I'm keeping it at 100g to see where that leads me. I just wish I could find a decent low carb protein bar. My beloved Luna bars have 24g which isn't bad if fruits didn't have their own set of carbs. Given that fruit is a healthier option I've been choosing that but the convenience factor of protein bars is something I appreciate! So going to continue seeking out a low carb option. I found one low carb Balance bar but haven't tried it yet. The Atkins ones I have tried suck plus they factor net carbs and I don't try to bother with the math on that right now! Just try to keep my overall carbs at 100ish!
I hope all goes well with the roof today! We put a new roof on last spring. What a nightmare that was. I had asked if we needed to cover anything in the attic up. "Nope" was the response so we didn't. When all was said and done, our attic was trashed all the roof junk fell down into our storage so all the boxes and decorations that we stored up there were covered in soot and crap. I was one mad Mama.0 -
Congrats on the loss girl! That was amazing. Glad you had a good weekend. Yeah I get the Detour protein bars from Costco (don't know where else they sell them) and they have 17g carbs so if you have a Costco membership or see them anywhere else they might not be a bad option. I like the taste of them too. More like a candy bar then a protein bar I am glad to hear you might have figured it out. I would much rather give up some carbs than food all together!
I, on the other hand, am going to opposite way and eating more this week. It makes me so nervous! I like the extra food but you know how it goes. You constantly have that nagging in the back of your head that the extra food is going to make you gain weight. At this point it is the only thing that might help though since I am still 3 pounds up and I am not really losing anything. Just have to have faith, give it time and try to keep the obsessing to a minimum.
My weekend wasn't very fun. Josie was sick and cranky the whole time so we basically were stuck at home taking turns caring for her. I did get alot of workout time in yesterday though since I had my 2 mile run in the morning. Then finally in the afternoon, Josie was wiped out and was in bed for 2 hours so I went ahead and did some weights, the lower body butt bible level 1 and jillian michael's yoga meltdown level 1. Yeah that yoga was no joke! So all in all I had a hell of a burn yesterday and it was nice to burn off some energy I had from being cooped up in the house all weekend!0 -
How's Josie feeling? No fun having a sick kiddo, especially over holidays and nice weekends!! Glad you found some room in that schedule to get a KILLER workout in. Amazing as usual sista!!
Yep, carbs are a better trade of than going down. At this point (I think) I'm at 1700 so as long as I make smart choices, I'm feeling relatively full and satisfied. Going down in calories just makes me angry. I'll keep my fingers crossed that our 'new' methods work out for us coming weigh in day. Though I think to be fair, we both have another week after this to determine whether to stick with this or switch it up right? The old 2 week rule?!
DH was laughing at me last night. We were laying in bed watching the boob tube and a coffee commercial comes on. "People always look so happy drinking coffee, do you think we'll ever drink coffee" is the smart *kitten* response from my husband. My respond? "I'd like to drink coffee but I prefer not to drink my calories" He looks at me with a *kitten* *kitten* grin and says "Yes, you'll save it for 7 crackers" What a PIA he is. LoL. I love me some good old cappuccino on cold mornings to start my day but most days...it just isn't worth not having a big old snack instead! Oh the choices we make. Hahaha.
I had my legs workout (LOVE legs days) this morning. Gym was a little busier than normal today but I did go later. The new babysitter comes to the house 3 days a week so I get to sleep in (**Insert this means it's actually harder to get my butt moving with the extra time I have**). The downside is at 5a = 1 person in the gym that I know. At 6am some random male gentlemen that do not take care of equipment and just get in my way. LoL. I may try to motivate myself to stick with 5ams and have extra time to relax in the am (said the girl who will hit snooze tomorrow)
My father in law is coming over for dinner tonight. I sooo wanted to use it as an excuse to order out but instead I was a good girl and prepped hamburgers for the men and I will resolve myself to a salad. :grumble: I need to know if this carb thing works before I even think about inserting a higher carb day sporadically. #trialandtribulations :bigsmile:0 -
I really hope the low carb helps you. So how is the new babysitter working out? I wasn't sure what day she was going to start. You will have to let me know how that goes. Josie is definately acting normal which is great but still has a nasty cough and runny nose. But at least she seems happy again, which is all I care about. I just have to chase her around with a tissue all day. We are working with her to try to "blow" her nose into the tissue but she just doesn't get it. So we still suction her as best as we can!
I too enjoy a good legs workout. Great calorie burn plus muscle building0 -
The new sitter has been great. She just graduated from high school so it's weird having a 'teenage girl' watching the boys. But they are pretty self reliant plus Dan gets home by lunch time. So really she just has to entertain them for a few hours. She's been spoiling them but taking them to parks and such. Plus my oldest keeps telling me how pretty she is. He totally digs the hot chics.
Glad Josie is feeling better. Hopefully the rest of the symptoms pass quickly!
I peeked at the scale and it's incentive enough for me to continue on this path. I need to regardless of it. But we all know that tiny # on the scale helps us keep trucking along. I did end up going over in calories last night. We rented Sherlock Holmes 2 and instead of 1 yogurt with chocolate chips I ate 2. Opps. I told DH this is why bed time routines are important. LoL. As long as I go to bed on time, that nighttime hunger doesn't have time to creep up!!
There is a carnival in town this week that I'm sure we will be attending. So I'm hoping to just do the rides and stick with at home eats. I so wanted to cave in and buy a pizza last night when my father in law come over. But I switched out the salad for some chicken salad so I have left overs for today. I can order a salad at a restaurant any day but it's always last on my wish list for homemade dinners.0 -
So I guess that means that you saw a good number on the scale? Sorry this is so short but Josie of course passed her illness to me so I have been in a haze all day and it is taking me 3x as long to get anything done! Thankfully this all hit after my workout so I was able to get that in today and tomorrow is a rest day but still being sick is no fun! Hope to see good things myself on the scale tomorrow! See you then!0
-
Well I feel like 100% crapola today so it will truly be a rest day for me. A real one. No walking, no stairs, nothing! I will truly be resting for once. On the bright side though the scale was good to me today and I saw 128.2 so I am officially 1.6lbs away from my all time low and just over 3 pounds above my UGW. And my BF was down to 19.9% again so that made me happy too. Either it was a fluke or it just seems like 1750-1850 is my sweet spot. We will see if I can keep it going though with being sick and having 3 events to do this weekend involving food (and one involving booze, hence my foray into the Skinny Girl cocktails). Have a great weekend!0
-
Great weigh in today. Goes to show how important consistency is. Even if we'd rather deny it Good luck with the weekend and I do hope that you start feeling better soon! Yikes! I've never been a big vodka girl but I did eye the skinny girl collection. Just because the name is so catchy! But our store only had 3 verisions of none of which I'd drink. Cosmo was another I think. Either way. When I picked up my 'splurge' I went with amaretto sours. Didn't bother to look at the calorie count. Thus why I have only drank it 2x since picking it up.
The weigh ins have been decent. I don't 'officially' until Sunday. Though todays fluctuated back up thanks to some white bread last night. So dumb how one meal fluctuates the scale. Went to the carnival with the kids and didn't eat a thing. Not even a drink of the regular coke that they purchased. Only to come home late enough that I gave in to BLTs. Not exactly a terrible meal but the carbs threw my system off all night after not having had it in a while. Luckily I stayed home today to hang out with the family and am 100% back on track. Feels much better. Though I did a little too much work around the house and not enough fueling my body before my workout. Instead of the 40 minutes I intended of incline, I only got 20 in before I got a little too light headed. The dogs need a walk so I'll finish it up now that I'm fed.
Fire tonight, DH takes off for a volleyball tourney this weekend so it's just me and the kids. Plan on tackling the long list of to dos and hanging out. Probably going to be a cardio filled weekend because that's about all I can do when I"m playing single parent. LoL.0 -
Hey I am back! Yeah it was nice to see the drop on the scale but I don't have high hopes for my weigh in this week. I was sick most of the weekend so there was no working out and my eating was bad. SOOOOOO.....I am sure I am back up this week. I am going to learn my lesson though and not try to make up for it by cutting way back on my calories. That doesn't seem to help at all so I am just going to stick with my 1700-1800 for the rest of the week and may the chips fall where they may!
Today is the first day I am feeling back to normal so that is good. My husband is out of town this week so I am doing the single mom routine. Not a big deal after work since he has been getting home late but it is a pain in the butt in the morning. Especially this morning when she woke up 45 minutes early when I was only 10 minutes into my workout! I got it done while attempting to entertain her as well but it wasn't my finest workout to say the least. Depending on how I am feeling I might try to squeeze alittle something extra in tonight after she goes to bed but we shall see. I might need alittle me time
How was your weigh in on Sunday?0 -
Glad you are feeling better. Saw you were back in full on action this week. A+++.
That's advanced pro thinking on the 'not make up for it by cutting' thoughts...just get back on track and rock it. Better than overloading then shocking your body in a short few days. Smart girl you are. Back to healthy...that's the best maneuver!
I hear ya on the 'single parent' action...all weekend baby I was flyin' solo. And I am whooped from it! Hope that you get a little 'U' time tonight!
The scale and I aren't on speaking terms. It's such a fickle thing. Monday morning I weighed 160, Monday night 155. That doesn't even make sense. I'm just going to keep rocking it. The carb thing is making me a little 'weaker' so to speak in the gym. More so in the cardio aspect. But my main focus is dieting down right now and supplementing with the workouts, not visa versa. So I'm rolling with it. :happy:0 -
Yeah the scale is an evil mistress. The fact that you weighed 5 pounds less at the end of the day is totally nuts! I got on this morning and it wasn't pretty either. It was up like3 pounds from Friday and honestly I have a feeling it isn't that far off. With being sick, over eating and not working out this weekend, I expect to see a gain on the scale. Which frustrates the crap out of me since I feel like I just got back into my groove but it is to be expected. I should know by now that I can't eat 2500 calories and not work out and expect to not gain weight. I think I am just always hoping for a miracle.
Well baby was semi cooperative this morning. I got through the whole workout before she woke up but she was all over the map when I was trying to make breakfast. Oh well we survived I did step it up and did the month 2 versions of the MMA and stretching videos for Be Fit in 90. I feel like it is still pretty weak but it is better than month one. I think this is a much better program for a beginner. I have been able to amp it up using really heavy weights for the moves and the one cardio video from the first month is good but I am not sure if I will stick the whole thing out. I am thinking about just doing the weight lifting sections, doing my running on the weekends and supplementing with KB. I just feel like I want more lifting. I really wish S90 had a second program. I like the whole set up but I am getting a little bored. I would totally look into P90x but the workouts are so LONG! Oh well I digress. Enough whining! :laugh:0 -
Morning crazy workout feign! Rockin' another hard core morning! Guess what I got in the mail yesterday.................(is the suspense killing you!? ) Supreme 90 for 8.99. Sweet!! Not starting it until AFTER gym membership expires but I am going to take a peek at it later to see what it's all about! I'm excited!
Had a killer leg workout this morning and getting back down stairs after my shower was a slow and 'oww' filled process. That's a good thing though. Now to keep the diet in check. Didn't go crazy yesterday but was over my cut numbers with a darn cupcake of all things. THIS is why I don't keep that stuff in my house. My mom whipped them up and BAM in my mouth 1 went! Figure I'll keep it a little tight the rest of the week but not go crazy over one cupcake.
Debating how I'm going to get my workouts in this weekend. We are packing up and heading to my parents for a volleyball filled weekend. The kids are staying with my parents while DH and I play. But even though vball is decent cardio and it'll be 80+, I'd still like to get in a planned workout. Might have to look up some bodyrock or something via youtube. We'll see, I have some time to investigate!!
I hear you on the P90x. Even when I was hitting 'skip' on the workouts to get through his drawn out 'rest' periods...it still is much longer than what you report on the S90 front. I also picked up a copy of Chalean Extreme used online (praying it's in good condition or I'll slap the seller!!) so maybe I can report on my 1st glance views on that. I know LaurnWhit has done much of the program-maybe she can give you the run down on the lengths of it. I'm a big Chalene Johnson fan. I wasn't sure I would be since I'm not exactly 'peppy' myself. But she's just so darn energetic about the workouts, I feel like I need to be excited about it too! LoL.
The KB though...the more I read on DH's Muscle and Fitness the more I see how much that's being touted as a go to workout. Lots of information in those mags (lord knows we prefer mens vs womens fitness mags!) I've stolen a few short burst workouts from it. OHHH!! I just had a thought...google the Spartacus workout. Some of the girls on another board are doing it, it's supposed to be quick but killer. Its from Men's Health and it's a circuit workout. 3 days a week...and I think you have everything you'd need. Maybe something to just think of supplementing with the runs!
So there's my run down for today! Hope all is well on the Jennie front!!0 -
All is well. I keep pulling along. I know the weigh in is going to stink tomorrow but oh well. Yeah I am not sure where I want to go. I am going to stick with this one for now and modify things to my liking. It is weird since some of the workouts I find to be fairly intense while others are SOOOO weak. It seems sort of unbalanced. I do like trying new things like yoga and running but I think overall I prefer the KB and weights to be the bulk of my workouts during the week. I have thought about P90z halfies or CLX so we shall see. My only concern with CLX is that I would need to get more weights since you are supposed to go real heavy with real low reps during that middle phase. I don't want to have to get alot more. So we shall see.
So excited for you to try S90! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it  Sounds like you had an awesome leg workout. I love leg workouts. Great cardio and it hurts so good  Yeah diet is the hardest thing for me too. I am fine day in and day out but then I feel like I want something and go overboard. Which is why I too can't have things in my house either. If it is there I will eat it!:mad:0 -
I am so going back and forth about this. Here's my dilemma: My grandmother turns 90 in October (yeah Gramma!!:drinker: ) so we are having this HUGE surprise party where ALL my relatives are coming into town from all over the world to celebrate. I figure that's hell of an incentive to work super hard to meet some goals, right? I did an online calculator-here birthday is 97 days away...I was going to finish up the program that I have been working on which is about 3 weeks left. But then I looked over S90 yesterday and thought...1) it looks great 2) the eating plan is alot like what I've been doing, subbing a few things so I could relatively easily transition to that as well. So, I did Insanity @ the gym when we all completed it. Technically, I could do the same with S90. Just go to the gym complete the workouts, go home and on days I don't want to make the trek-I'm prepared at home. But, then I'm jumping ship again on a program. Eek! I don't know whether to take the dive or not. I'm already going to be 2 days off schedule from my current training because of this volleyball tournament. We are staying with my parents this week so tomorrow and Sundays workouts will have to be subbed. Decisions...decisions.
Yeh, whenever I get to CLX I am going to have to beg borrow and steal weights from my Dad which DH will love me consuming more space with more weights. LoL. What is P90z halfies? If you ever decide you wanted to try P90x, I'd gladly send it your way. DH says he'll never do it and I don't plan on using it for awhile with the stock pile I'm growing!
How was the weigh in? I'm back up today, but I'm starting to notice a trend that Strength days=higher weigh ins after I get home from the gym. I'm still up which I'm sure is related to bad choices Wednesday regadless, but I have noticed that trend.0 -
The weigh in was HORRID. Up over 2 pounds. I know I didn't go over 7000 calories to gain it so that is BS. But I have to say my legs and butt are not looking so hot. I have thinned out alot on top (arms, boobs, upper waist) but my lower body seems to be looking really bad lately. I have never thought I have had it before but I am going to say I have some "squishy fat" that people seem to talk about right before a whoosh comes. I am hoping that is it because it seems like my lower belly, *kitten* and thighs have suddenedly become much more jello like and covered in cellulite. I don't get it. They looked so much better just a few weeks ago. My weight hasn't changed at all. Do you think this could possibly be it getting worse before it gets better? The scale can kiss it. I don't really care what it says at this point but WTH is going on with my lower body. I don't know what to think. I thought the running would help but so far nothing. Ok now that it is out of my system on to you!
I would love it if you started S90. I really liked it and I am sure I will do another round. You feel like a beast when you are done! Maybe give a workout a try and see how you like it? If you love it like I did you can jump on into the program and have all the weights you want at the gym. If you are only so/so on it, you can just finish your current program then start on it. That is what I would do
The p90x halfsies program is basically doing all the moves one time through instead of the 2 or 3 rounds that they do in the video. It was something I read some people do who want to do P90X but just don't have the time (which I don't). That is my only reservation about p90x. I can't commit that kind of time to it on a regular basis. I wish I could but I can't. I know it just will not happen at this point. I am going to think about it and if I decide to change it up I might take you up on that offer :flowerforyou:
Have a great weekend!0 -
Someone had a good weekend! I was only able to check in a couple times on DH's Iphone since we were gone all weekend but I def. saw an epic gazelle impression update. Great job! :flowerforyou:
You were probably not evaluating yourself with 'kind eyes'! I am sure your behind is not nearly what you describe girl! I do know that we are our own worst critics. And I always seems to notice 1 bad for every good that I can afford myself. Example: my arms-yeah they are responding to the weight training but as soon as I allow myself to think this...I notice that I swear my inner thighs are growing. Keep your head up and keep pushing. Maybe sub some of those Butt Bible workouts? Or at least the moves to them? I read an article on 'Great glutes' from a former fitness competitor. She mentioned that those muscles are quick to respond if we work them hard, but they need to be worked multiple times a week. (something I def. do not do!) She suggested doing these exercises 2-3x a week without worrying about certain reps, just bang out as many as you can of each:
Glute Bridge
Dog Leg
Single Leg Glute Bridge
Lateral Abduction
Prisoner Full Squat
Bulgarian Split Squat
High Step Up
Hip Thurst
Single Leg Hip Thrust
Just some food for thought. I'm not backside expert as that's never responded for me. But I start S90 today (squeal) and depending on how that goes I may try to bang these out right before I do my recovery foam rolling a couple times a week.
I am going to have DH (or I'll do it myself behind closed doors since I def. did not hydrate enough this weekend and it's TOM week=BLOATED) take day 1 pictures and then I am going to try my hardest to just stick out these 90 days full bore. I've got it set so most of the time Wednesday are my off day which works better since I'm at my parents that day. And we'll see how it goes. I need direction. Even with following a program off line, I don't feel like i have enough direction right now. It was a nice break from the pop a DVD in and go throughout the winter. But I'm ready to get back to that. Just go with what I'm told to do whether I like it or not!!! :laugh:0 -
Oh yea!! I think you will like it. It does go fast so have the remote ready to pause especially if you are using the heaviest weights you can (which I know you will, hehe). I can't wait to hear what you think!!! Glad you are taking the pictures too. I find that very very helpful!!
Yeah I am going to switch things around myself. I am almost done with the first month of this program and I am wondering if that is the issue. That I am doing too much cardio and not enough lifting. Or maybe the cardio is breaking down the fat and it just has to get better before it gets worse (waiting for my whoosh). Who the hell knows. I am going to give it alittle more time. I know things are still changing with me now eating more calories (and of course my weight isn't budging since it was up 2 pounds this week, don't even get me started:mad:) so I need to let things work their way out. But I am trying to add more weights and will be doing KB tomorrow. I have the whole Butt Bible now on my ipad so that will be nice to try. I have only done level one and want to see what sort of pain level 2 and 3 may bring. Do you think that doing more leg work would be more beneficial to the appearance of cellulite or just more fat loss? That is my only question. I am all for having shapely legs from lifting but do you think it will help the overall appearance of the leg or just nice muscle under all that cellulite?
Yeah my weekend was lots of cardio. My husband's flight was all sorts of delayed (coming in from the East coast with all the storms) so I was single mommy more than I expected over the weekend. So I did my usual 2 mile run then ran an additional half mile to the park. Ran around with her for about 30 minutes then walked home. The whole time I kept the HRM going and just used those figures. I was shocked to see it be over 1000 on Sat but it was running with the stoller for about 40 minutes, then running after her (and picking her up, etc) at the park then a long walk back home pushing and/or carrying her for a total of just under 2 hours. So I guess that all adds up when you are dying in the 100 degree heat.
Well sometime this week I am going to make Jamie Eason's chocolate protein bars. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/video-jamie-eason-chocolate-protein-bars.htm Ever tried them?0 -
I haven't tried those bars, I did try the Cinnamon which were delicious. I just never have berry baby food around or think to pick it up. but I have heard good things about them. Goodness knows I love me a good Jamie Eason recipe. I could make her Turkey Muffins and eat them daily!!
I started S90 last night with Chest & Back, added in some glute work (felt necessary!!) and then this morning did Ultimate Ball followed by a quick treadmill HIIT workout. Felt good. I struggled with a couple of the moves-the pike and the one where you bring your knees in and then rotate your hips. I'm sure the gentlemen in the gym where amuses. LoL.
I don't know much about the 'woosh' effect. I've seen sporadic things about it but not enough to step up and make a valid statement! :noway: I do hope that's the case, that would mean good things!! I took up the running for similar reasons, aside from 5ks. I'm hoping to get my butt so that I still get a run or two in but who knows. Steady state cardio and I just aren't friends- so I find excuses around it. Like HIIT is so much easier, just go with that...but lots of people have excellent legs with nothing more than daily runs!! As for the cellulite, from what I've read it's gaining the muscle and losing the fat on top of it. But how to do that, well as always, there's mixed reviews!! Diet and strength training, I guess but I haven't mastered it that's for sure!!
Sounds like a busy weekend with Josie for you. Nothing like a flight delay to rattle your cage. I know we've experienced our share of those for sure!!
I've got Wednesday's rest day which will entail my walk with my Mama in the AM. And we'll see how I feel. I didn't look ahead but I'm sure there's more S90 goodness to come!!0 -
Girl look at you go with your double workouts. I can't tell you how many times I fell off that ball while doing Ultimate Ball. I hated that workout and ended up subbing for other stuff later. So what are you overall thoughts about the workouts? The chest and back is fairly short but some of them are longer. I can't wait for you to tell me what you think of Tabata Inferno. It killed me in the beginning but I think it was a more tolerable version of Insanity. I just couldn't stop like I did with Insanity. haha!
I did some KB this morning and it felt good. I forgot how high it can get my heart rate. Especially this boot camp DVD which does 4 circuits of moves without stopping during the circuit. It can really wind you since they have moves like the squat snatch combo and tactical lunges. So you can't seem to get your breath. But I love getting the cardio workout without having to jump around alot.
I made the bars last night only I put them in muffin tins like someone suggested to make portion control easier. Honestly I wasn't impressed. They were not bad just very dry and not extremely chocolatey. The dryness might have been because they were in the muffin tin versus a tray but I did cook them on the lower end of the time and checked them. I pulled them out once they stopped looked uncooked. So they are ok especially for what they are but I wouldn't probably make them again since I thought they were only so/so. But I will keep trying0 -
Wow...you tackled BB with vengeance didn't you?! Took it to Pauline with no mercy!!
That ball was not nearly as bad as the 'Ulimate Ball' workouts will go at home. My ball is so much smaller than the one at the gym. I'll either be on my face 80% of the time or I'll have to upgrade to a bigger ball and only be on my face 64% of the time!
I can imagine that circuit leaves you breathless...it sounds intense. Whipping around a huge KB through all those mouths...hold on, I gotta catch my breath just thinking about it!!
I need to whip up some time of protein bar. I love the Zone Cashew Pretzel bars but they are 200 calories. I don't mind a 200 calorie snack, but I'd prefer it to be some Jamie Eason Turkey Muffins and a little cheese wedge for that! That way I truly feel FULL after a snack! I better get experimenting...it's grocery shopping time which means more kitchen time! :indifferent:
Today's a rest day from S90 (already, lol) so I did the walk with mom and then stole some of the moves out of BB Level 1 to whip out a more rounded workout. I definitely think a little more sleep would have left me not wanting to take a nap at 9am..but whatever, sleep doesn't burn enough calories...hehehe. :laugh:0 -
Look at your working all hard on your rest day!! Yeah I did the BB Level 1 lower back when I was on my random workout kick and worked out for like 3 hours when Josie was napping and it wasn't bad I definately felt it in my butt when I did the moves but I prefer standing stuff to get a good cardio burn in. Well BB level 2 today definately got me there with my 12lbs. Oh the squats and lunges!!!! I think 12lbs might have been a bit much since I had to pause a few times because I was DYING, especially with the pulsing sumo squats at the end. So my legs are definately feeling it now. They were like jello when I stopped. I just hope I feel sore tomorrow. With Level 1, I felt fatigued in my legs after the workout but nothing the next day in terms of soreness. This time my legs feel totally shot so here is to having some soreness tomorrow!!:drinker:
I am looking forward to trying level 3 lower (need to figure out what to use instead of the bar) and trying the upper body videos. What did you think of those and do you use a bar for level 3 lower?
I hear you on the protein bars. I eat the Detour ones from Costco because they are like candy bars. They are my "dessert" at the end of the day. But they are expensive at $.95 a bar (I know cheaper than most bars but still). I was hoping these Eason bars would be my alternative but the flavor is just not up to par. I will say though that the stats are great, the portion is large, and they are filling. But the overall flavor is not that awesome but considering how cheap they are to make I might try again and see if I can make them better. I made some cottage cheese "ice cream" from a recipe from Lean Body Lifestyle and I liked that better. That also needs tweeking since I don't love the taste of my chocolate protein powder and you really have to like the taste of the powder since that is all you are really tasting if you don't use the PB (which I didn't the first round but will add the next time). The big pro for that recipe is that it is very low carb, a decent serving size, very high protein and it is casein protein which is supposed to be better for eating at night (who knows). So I will work on that one first.0 -
Oh still so so sore!!! Thank you butt bible. Haha. Hope everything is ok on your end!0

Still so sore is perfect! I know I'm still feeling it for sure!
We had some significant storms here in PA yesterday. Luckily, I happened to cut out early from work to meet the family for a movie night. That got cancelled due to the storms, however, the way that I take from work to home is what got hit significantly but what they are reporting 'so far' as a tornado. And it went through about the time I should have been coming home from work. All worked out, because I was safe and cozy at home with the family. Plus, all the chaos left work with no electric so I've spent my day cleaning and now we are about to head out to the park to play baseball. It was an interesting day but all ended well with no significant damage to our house or items. Though my parents lost their trampoline again so I'm guessing they won't bother replacing it since this is the 2nd time that a storm has destroyed it.
Great job on the loss. Excellent work. I've got shoulders today, which I'll be combining with some incline walking or a HIIT depending on how I feel after the shoulders workout. I'm going to do this one at the gym since I dont' have a lot of weights at home. I did Tabata at home after I stupidly walked the dogs with flip flops on and tore up my feet all over...putting shoes on hasn't been a priortiy the past 2 days. BUt to the gym I'll go today. I didn't horribly mind the Tabata (it sucked...but not as bad as insanity) However, on the 2nd to last one I swore he said this is it...as in this is the last one so I went 150% only to find out I had a whole other circuit to complete. I swore at him a few times and then finished up! LoL.0
