AB and Kelly ~ AWESOME job!!! Kelly, your numbers are way impressive!!! KB...have a wonderful time on your vacation!

Ok, guys...what are we doing for exercise today? I would like to challenge you to do just a little bit more today! Just something a little extra...push for an extra mile or walk to the grocery store (if you are close enough) instead of driving.

I am about to head to the gym, but my little extra thing today was walking my boys to school. It helped all three of us to get a little bit in this morning. It is only a 7-8 min. walk each way, but every little bit helps, right? Plus, it is good for them :) It was nice to talk and have a little prayer time with them, too.

    So....

1)Do just a little bit more today
    2) Drink your water!!! It is HOT out there!!

Heading out to Curves, so instead of my usual hour I will do an extra 30 minutes! And yes, ma'am it is hot!! 39 days in a row with 100+ degree weather with no end in site! I drink about 18 glasses of H20 every day!! :drinker:

    Have fun everyone! :glasses:

An exercise challenge is exactly what I need! I haven't been working as hard with the exercise as I used to...I think I'm getting bored with my routine. I was exercising twice a day in the beginning, and now I have to force myself.

It's been a few days since I've done my run/walk thing, so I plan on getting back into that tonight. Gotta make it happen!

I added the C25k to my exercise plan along with my normal Curves and Zumba.

Just got done running! Well, jog/walking. I looked back on my exercise log and the last time I did that was almost a week ago (last Thursday). Yikes! Thanks for the exercise challenge; I needed it!

Great job, ladies!! In addition to my walking my boys to school this morning, I also cleaned (to the max!!) my whole upstairs today. 2 bedrooms + full bathroom. Doesn't sound like a lot, however, it was my 5 and 8 year old boys bedrooms. I went thru all their toys because their birthdays are next month!!

Yay for cleaning to the max! I wore my HRM one time when I was cleaning the house and I was shocked to see how many calories I'd burned by the time I was done. Two birds, one stone!

I don't know why, but lately I've been having a harder time getting all of my water in....I'm staring at a bottle of it right in front of me but drinking coffee instead. Doh! I did force 3 cups down this morning before/during/after my workout, so that's a start, I suppose...

Pam ~ I am the same way with water! I can not drink water when I first get out of bed. It makes me sick to my stomach. After I eat something I can...just not right as soon as. I need to get a HRM...where does one find a good one?

This morning I had 45 mins to kill...didn't want to go walking because it is getting pretty warm pretty quick...so I went to the pool and swam laps free style. I did one way of breast stroke and one way of back stroke for 35 mins. I mainly want to work my shoulder. I am 10 weeks post surgery and have very little strength there. I can't do over head swimming, though. My arm just doesn't work that way :( I am having a hard time determining if I did moderate of vigorous. It was non stop and I was going as fast as I could...and did not touch bottom once. How does one determine that?

I got my HRM from heartratemonitorsusa.com. They had super fast shipping and pretty good prices too. I got the Polar FT4, which is a more basic (and not too expensive) HRM, but I love it -- it does everything I need. It can even be worn while swimming! I know that a lot of people like the Polar FT7 too...I haven't tried it, but I know it's popular. I've heard that the Polar brand HRMs are the most accurate, but I'm not sure how true that is.

My friend got a FT4 too, but she got hers from amazon.com, so you can find them a lot of places.

I feel like it's one of the best purchases I've made for my weight loss, and would recommend HRMs to anyone. I love that I can put it on and see how much I've burned while swimming, running, doing workout DVDs, or even cleaning. I put it on while I was picking blueberries one weekend too...I'm a total HRM nerd now. :)

Hmmm, will check into that one. I don't think I could wear that in water, tho.

Good Morning...Ok so I am doing another challenge in case you have noticed my threads!

There are daily challenges..maybe we could incorporate these challenges for this group as well?

Todays challenge: 25 push ups & 25 Mountain Climbers! Its Double Challenge Day!

Let me know what you think!
  • I'm all about the mini goals. I find that if I focus on them, it's easier for me to maintain than a bigger picture goal!

    I vote yes!

I'm weighing in today as well! Down to 231.4. Not the 230 I was hoping for, but still a loss! Going to get back on track and focus on getting out of the 230's this week!

229.8 today. Not entirely thrilled that I only lost 1.2 lbs this week. A loss is a loss though.

I am up for challenges! I can't do push ups with my shoulder, tho :/ Not sure what a mountain climber is!! I guess I will google that :) I swam laps with my friend this morning for 45 mins...and boy, was my heart PUMPING!! I am eager to get a hrm so I can see how well I am doing :) While we are 100+ here in GA, I will not be walking outside, I will be swimming!! I am debating on walking and getting my boys from school or driving. It is SO freakin' hot right now that I can easily talk myself out of doing that!! I had Thai for lunch today...not sure that will go to well w/ the heat, either :)

Gonna have a very, very light dinner tonight. Don't know what yet, tho!
  • Take heart -- it's probably just water weight. You would've had to have eaten 3500 extra calories just to gain a pound of fat, and how many had you lost? 4? I'm guessing you didn't eat 14,000 calories extra this weekend. There's a good chance the scale is just up due to high sodium intake, lack of water, or even TOM, so don't be too hard on yourself. Just get right back on the wagon...we're all here for you!

God love you guys! I'm back down the weight I gained last weekend. You must have been right!
  • P.S. What's a mountain climber? You know, aside from a little man with a pick axe and sticky shoes?

...nevermind, the internets told me! :)

Mountain climber tutorial...I remember these from elementary PE!
I wonder though....is it 1 when you're back to your original leg, or...
    Left: 1 Right: 2 Left again: 3...
Hehe...either way I'll count it the harder way!

And just for the record...it is very hard to do push ups with an Australian Cattle Dog under you thinking it's time to play! :)
