EXCELLENT JOB JUDY!!!!
Arielle, I want to bend you over my knee right now and spank you, sigh. Right after I get done spanking Tanya and Elana!!!!!!
LOL! Sorry Lori. I promise I will be good today. I actually lost a pound. How I have no clue. So far I only walked 1 mile towards our challenge but I will be walking today too. So it will be a total of 2 to 3 miles by the end of today.0 -
Oh, I forgot to tell you guys. I got a HRM that counts calories so now I will know exactly how much I burn when I work out. So excited to use it today for the first time.0
-
Sorry I keep blabbing but I feel really good today and I just noticed that I am almost half way to my goal weight already! Yay!0
-
Oops. That was 8.7 extra miles walked. I was really tired last night and miscalculated (2.0 mph x 3 hours) + (2.7 mph x 1 hour) = 8.7.64 oz water
way under calorie goal
5.7 extra miles walked
15 minutes extra elliptical
100 abdominal crunches
50 mountain climbers0 -
I promised myself a trip to Bubba Gumps while in Florida and wanted to be sure I didn't exceed my calorie goal. The restaurant is 2.2 miles from the hotel, so even though I walked all day at the convention I decided I could handle the round trip walk. I went the wrong direction twice (hence 2.7 miles). It was really late when I left the restaurant so I caught the bus back to the hotel.EXCELLENT JOB JUDY!!!!

Today's exercise challenge nearly didn't happen but I got home after a full day of study as well as my own workout and pumped it out!
A mile dedicated to the team - THRASHED IT
3 sets of 21 - SMASHED IT!
100 Jumping Jacks/Star Jumps -KILLED IT!
I drank enough water today for 3 possibly 4 people!
Calories are under but they don't really count because I had a kaka day of eating...which makes it 2 days in a row
The team name is PERSEVERANCE...well I'm back here for a reason and PERSEVERANCE is going to help me achieve it! BRING ON FRIDAY and hopefully I'll be getting out of the right side of the bed!
Oprah may have used running when she quoted the following but I am pretty sure it applies to everything.
"Running is the greatest metaphor for life, because you get out of it what you put into it."
-Oprah Winfrey0 -
Did you like Bubba Gumps? I found it fairly easy to stay under when I went there in July (in Breckenridge, CO)...but it sounds like you had quite the walk to get there, so that would counteract the food!!0
-
Fantastic, Anina!!! That's the way to work it, especially when you don't "feel it'!!!!0

I was planning to have a cheat day every two weeks to get rid of any big cravings BUT due to this challenge I have decided to wait until after August, for the good of the team!! MMmm maybe by then my cravings may go away on their own, well here's hoping anyway.
Hope everyone has a great day0 -
GOOD MORNING TEAM!!!! First off I want to post today's challenge:
Day 4 Exercise Challenge – 3 sets of 21’s + 100 Jumping Jacks (Bicep Curls may be done with cans of soup
or bottles of water if you don’t have any weights)
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xLcsg-5Dw8 ) 21’s The video is a little long sorry.
NEXT: I am going over all the posts and logging everything you have completed. I'm sad this am that we have people dropping out on us. I try not to take it personally but I still do. We have a few people that were going strong with us until this week. Being a cheerleader at heart I just want to see everyone make it across the finish line. If people do not want to continue the race there is nothing I can do to change it. All I can do is encourage everyone and let them know that yes it's hard work but the pay off in the end is so worth it. I'm 37 and have health issues. In my 20's I never had any health problems. Now, I can't afford to take my health for granted.
Thank you for all of the wonderful posts everyone!!! Jill, you are a God send for helping us all to stay on top of the game!!! When I get angry at first I get really quiet, then I lash out ... then I refocus. I was really angry last night but thankfully my sense of humor took over.
I'll be honest with you. I feel like crap today. My head is killing me and due to having heart disease and tachycardia I can't have caffeine and that includes Excedrine Migraine. My heart rate soars up to almost 300 bpm. BUT I press on. I will still workout and I will conquer. YOU CAN TOO! NO EXCUSES!!
Speaking of NO EXCUSES, I want to tell you all about Bob and I hope his story inspires you to never give up!!!
TODAY'S INSPIRING ROLE MODEL: ROBERT A LYNCH ESQ.
A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO I WORKED FOR BOB. BOB IS AN ATTORNEY SPECIALIZING IN DISABILITY. BOB IS A QUADRIPLEGIC. RIGHT AFTER HE GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL IN OHIO BOB WAS PREPARING TO LEAVE FOR COLLEGE OUT OF STATE WHEN HE WENT HIKING WITH FRIENDS AND FELL OFF A CLIFF. IT TOOK HOURS FOR HIM TO REACH A HOSPITAL AND SADLY THE LONGER IT TAKES TO GET HELP THE GREATER THE DAMAGE IN A SPINAL CORD INJURY. AS MONTHS WENT BY AND HE REALIZED HE WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO WALK AGAIN OR USE HIS HANDS HE DECIDED HE WOULD BECOME AN ATTORNEY SO HE COULD TAKE CARE OF HIMSELF AND NOT BE A BURDEN ON HIS FAMILY.
BOB SPENT 8 YEARS AT OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY, GOT HIS LAW DEGREE THEN WENT TO WORK FOR A PRESTIGIOUS LAW FIRM IN OHIO. BOB MARRIED. LATER HE MOVED TO MISSOURI. ONE DAY BOB'S WIFE LEFT HIM FOR SOMEONE ELSE. BOB PUT UP AN AD FOR HELP. I ANSWERED THAT AD. I LEARNED A LOT FROM BOB. WHETHER TAKING HIM TO COURT OR WATCHING HIM AT WORK I WAS ALWAYS AMAZED. HE TYPED EVERYTHING WITH A MOUTH APPLIANCE WITH A STICK ATTACHED TO IT OR HE WOULD USE DRAGON SPEAK COMPUTER SOFTWARE. NOTHING EVER SLOWED BOB DOWN. BOB CAN NOT DRESS HIMSELF. BOB CAN NOT TIE HIS SHOE. BOB CAN NOT COOK. BOB CAN NOT WALK. BOB CAN NOT ROLL HIMSELF OVER IN BED. BUT HAS BOB EVER GIVEN UP? NO.
I NO LONGER WORK FOR ROBERT A LYNCH ESQ. HE DECIDED HE WANTED TO BECOME A US FEDERAL JUDGE. OVER 700 OTHER ATTORNEYS APPLIED FOR THE ONE OPENING. I WATCHED BOB MAKE TRIPS TO WASHINGTON D.C. WITH HIS SERVICE DOG AND TAKE TESTS IN HOPES OF BEING THE ONE PERSON SELECTED.
ROBERT A LYNCH MY FORMER EMPLOYER AND QUADRIPLEGIC IS NOW A US FEDERAL JUDGE. HE GOT THE ONE SPOT THAT HUNDREDS OF OTHERS WANTED. BOB HAS NEVER GIVEN UP. THIS IS FOR YOU BOB. TY FOR TEACHING LORI THE MEANING OF THE WORD PERSEVERANCE.
TEAM PLEASE BE A BOB TODAY.
LORI
BTW IN HIS FREE TIME BOB STARTED AN ORGANIZATION TO BUILD A COMMUNITY HOME FOR DISABLED ADULTS WHO HAVE PARENTS THAT CAN LONGER CARE FOR THEM.
MEET BOB: http://www.mobar.org/voting/members/lynch.htm0 -

Today is 'DO IT FOR BOB DAY'0 -
TY Tanya!! I was blessed to have met and worked for Bob. I realized if he could accomplish all that he has while being a quad that I have ZERO excuse for not trying to as well.0
-
Thx Jules!!! I wish you all could meet him.0
-
Oh my GOD!!! What an incredible, moving story!!!! When I want to whine about working out, taking care of my health, my family, my situation, I will always remember him!! WOW! Thank you, Lori, for sharing this!
Truly amazing.0 -
Fantastic story....I LOVE recounts (I shouldn't have called it a "story"...it was TRUE!!) that people overcome ALL odds! Thanks for sharing that, Lori, truly inspirational!! I thank goodness that *I* can "complain" about feeling so utterly tired after a workout, because I was ABLE to do that workout. So much to be thankful for!!0

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!
I got out of bed this morning determined it was going to be a fabulous day and it has been so far!
Exercise challenges done...the steps nearly killed me...literally! I missed a step and nearly went tumbling down 70 steps. I went to a subway station to do the steps because it was the only place that was close by and could guarantee me the 100!
The looks I was given by the Koreans when I got there was funny...sometimes I wish I had a cameraman following me around just to capture the looks on peoples faces!
Anyway - 100 jump jacks/star jumps completed, I even had one of my fellow bootcampers join me whilst doing them
2 mile walk dedicated to our TEAM CHALLENGE which makes it 7 down, 3 to go.
Yesterday I was talking (to myself) about setting a challenge where I have to eat salads for 2 meals a day for the next couple of weeks or so because I'm currently struggling with my food choices. I'm not a big fan of lettuce so I always go out of my way to find/make salads that involve everything BUT lettuce. I prefer to drink my lettuce. The point of this is I will start posting the salads I'm making for my meals. For those of you who love their salads feel free to pass on the recipes.
I don't eat too badly but every now and then especially when I am feeling a bit flat, the can't be f'd attitude takes over and I give in to things.
Here's last night's concoction:
1 TBs capers in vinegar
7 Green olives stuffed with pimento
2 Capsicums (yellow & red as it brightens your meal up)
3 Cucumbers (1 peeled, the other 2 as is)
12 Cherry tomatoes
6 Sliced pickled gherkins
12 Cubes of Feta cheese
Chuck it all in a bowl, cut up and everything. The above recipe makes enough for about 11.5 cups and each cup is approximately 126 calories.
No dressing is added because the Feta Cheese is already mixed in olive oil with herbs and stuff.
HAPPY FRIDAAAAAAAAAAY EVERYONE & THANK YOU ALL FOR HELPING PICK ME UP!0 -
