Women with abs, attractive or not?

i love my abs. So does my fiance. I think they are very attractive, whether anybody else does or not .0

I agree with him. I like a flat belly, but I don't like to see the "6 pack" on women. I think it can be overdone on men too. I've always prefered a more natural look rather than one that says "Hey, I spend hours in the gym".0

abs are hot.. janet jackson comes to mind.. but there's a difference (to me) between hot janet jackson type abs and muscle builder type hard ripped 6pack abs..
that's probably what the guy you asked thought of0 -
I want abs. I don't care if anyone thinks they are attractive or not.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard! I've never heard a man say a woman with a nice toned tummy was unattractive. I say get your abs, girl. I'm working on getting mine and my man is cheering me on!!0

I've been working out immensely, focusing on my abs lately. I am seeing progress slowly and i love it. However, i mentioned "wanting" a 6 pack to this guy at the gym and his initial reaction was "why? girls with abs are not attractive". So it left me thinking, how so?
I'd like your opinions please, women/men!
To that guy, they're not attractive. To another guy, they are.
Why do you find certain things attractive and others not? There isn't really a right answer to this. People are individuals with individual preferences.
I've seen some women with really defined abs where it looks really nice and on others, not so much. I think it has a lot to do with body shape. If you have a smaller waist and larger hips (hourglass or pear), I think it looks better than if you're more straight up and down because you maintain that womanly softness.
But someone else might think totally different than I do about that. :-)0 -

Hot, my husband said the same thing when I told him I wanted defined abs. He said "you already have a 6 pack, what more do you want?" I said "awesome definition." He said "please no."0 -

Pretty much what I was going to say0 -
Even when I was skin & bones, I thought a little bit of a belly was more attractive. One could still have a strong core, and defined muscles, but a little bit of a belly is something I used to wish I had (just think Shakira). Janet Jackson abs were never something I wanted for my body. Maybe it's important to note that I've always had a rather boyish figure (thick waist even when skinny, narrow hips, so you can see why I had wanted a Shakira physique).0

I wouldn't want abs. I think women are way more sexy when they look soft. However, who cares what I think? LOL Everyone should look how they want to look. If you like having muscles than that is all that matters.
I definately don't think "oh gross!" when I see a woman with a 6-pack, I think "wow! She works her butt off, looks awesome!" But I'm in it for my health and blah blah blah, but seriously, when I'm thinking about how I want my body to look, I like myself slim but curvy, tone but not true 'definition.' That's what *I* want. But some people like blondes, some brunettes, and most people like all of the above on the right person-- so do what YOU want!!!0 -
I don't care for them at all on women. They make a women look masculine.0

Guys have weird double standards...
First of all, the last guy I dated was quick to say he'd dump a woman if she gained weight. But, he constantly told me I didn't eat enough and was "too skinny" - what does that even MEAN????
Second of all, guys have this fear about if you have abs you're going to look like that body building crazy buff woman who takes steroids. Um, no you wont. It's the media that makes them think this way - and bad shows on TLC.
If only us women could get a clear picture of what men really look for in a woman (in terms of appearances).
This is my favourite body in the world, even when we are 80+ years old I will still find her attractive. Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.
Some may see it as a flaw, he who truly loves her sees it as a contribution to her perfection.

I'm female, I would like abs to the point where my stomache is nite and flat, but I don't want the full on definition of a six pack. My own personal preference on what is attractive on a woman is toned and firm, but I don't like the stringy defined look like say... Madonna or something like that - I feel like it looks 'harsh'.0
-
defined abs are sexy...but to each his own! If a guy doesn't like it keep it moving.0

I agree with this statement. I think abs on women are attractive.0 -
I've wanted abs (not necessarily a 6 pack) since the first time I saw Dirty Dancing when I was thirteen. But ultimately, it's up to you. Who cares what anyone else thinks?0

I'm the same way. I don't like them too much, so I used that as my "goal weight". Any more loss would leave my abs all showing, and I like the way I look with just a hint of abs and a flat stomach.0 -
My fiance says he likes to see the ribs and hip bone. When I see abs on another woman..I think it is awesome. I'd be like, "WOW!! She has nice abs!"0
-
Abs are sexy! I want feminine, lean abs and a flat tummy. Not so much a fan of bulky body-builder abs. I think no matter my weight I will forever be curvy& I'm okay with that.0
-
Depends on the girl I guess. I would say it's hot to be tone and have ab definition, but to the extreme that comes with dehydration like body builders do.0
-
had abs all my life and would never turn back. my husband loves them and thinks they are sexy!0

Then what? We could all conform to their ideals? No thanks.
Just be the best you can be. I guarantee you'll be someone's type.0 -

Pretty hot.
It indirectly shows their hard work, determination and motivation as well. Whenever I see a fit girl, I think that, and its even more attractive.
The majority of fitness/figure models don't look that ripped all year anyway, so in their downtime, they're just really fit girls. Super-ripped before comps and shoots, but generally just in fantastic shape, regardless of how the muscles are looking.
Do it up ladies.0 -
I want abs.....once I get rid of these 15 layers of fat....0
-
He's nuts, chicks with abs is way hot! He just feels threatened. lol
I was thinking he feel threatened too by someone who may be more fit than him. You do what you want to do to make yourself happy. If you want to work hard for abs then do it! :flowerforyou:
Not every guy that doesn't like a 6 pack on women is threatened by them. My husband just likes women who look like women (in his eyes). He thinks my stomach looks better now that it's flatter, but says he misses my "belly belly", as he called it, and begs me not to make it hard and muscley because he likes the way the soft belly feels when we spoon.0
