  • Well good grief people!!! I'm gone for less than 48 hours and everybody is falling apart! We've got broke toes and bruised buttocks and a sick child (mmmmhhhmmmm some excuse for not exercising), everyone's all concerned about copulation calories and such, and poor Chanty's smart teeth are all gone - and just what does that say about the rest of her teeth exactly???

I must say though, ya'll were cracking me up! and that wogging girl you came up with LI4G - well, that is precisely why I don't jog. I ran track in high school and my brother one time told me that all his buddies were taking bets on whether or not I would actually black my own eye!!!:noway: Thank goodness bras (and running shoes) have come a looooong way since then!

So, how much does this stink... I had gone in for my first year post-hysterectomy exam with my gyn and they ran blood work - got it back and all was okay, except my cholesterol was 266 (should be less than 200) and my triglycerides were 389!!!!!!!!!!!Should be less than 150! I have NEVER had cholesterol issues - I was super bummed. Even last year my numbers were fine. My doc said it's not uncommon for cholesterol to go up after a complete hysterectomy - but I'd never heard of that??:frown: So now I have to make an appt with my primary care physician - cuz God forbid any ONE doctor can ever handle anything to determine treatment.... I checked my food diary all the way back to my start date and my avg. cholesterol numbers are good (only twice over 100 - but usually 70 or less) and did some research which indicates is should be under 200 so I'm good there, I eat my veggies, but sometime skimp on the fruit, I eat low fat, and in general stay within all my recommended ranges on MFP... Any suggestions from you guys?? I really don't like oatmeal:ohwell: .

Oh, btw - I got some work!!! Doing some transcribing for a court reporter - so yipeeeee - I'll be working from home! Love that!!!

Okay, wrote a book - It's 12:20 a.m. my time, so I'm off to beddy bye:yawn: I'll talk to you chickadees and roosters too, tomorrow!
    lulu

Aww Lulu we missed you:wink: ! They were not smart teeth they were making my other teeth crocked..what kind of smart teeth would make me have to get braces later?

That sucks about your cholesterol!!! You will get it down we know you can!

That is great about the work though!
  • Lulubar and li4g, thanks for worrying about my poor toe. It is still purple and swollen, but doesn't hurt as much and I've been able to workout so I don't really care. It is nowhere NEAR sandals weather around here, so nobody else has to see my gross toe.

Vonzo, a new treadmill! How cool! That will make it hard NOT to exercise, very cool!

Oh yeah, Chanty and Li4g, how are you 2 today? I think today would be the "sorest" day for both of you. After today, both your owies should start to be better. Ibuprofen and ice. (One on the face, one on the tuchas. )

Zano, did you get to exercise? Are you sore? (You can join the other 2 with their icepacks! )

CMR, I bet you just went to bed, it's 5:30 in the morning, ha ha.

Lulubar, have fun with the job and you can get those numbers down. You will just need to be vigilant. My husband dropped from an overall cholesterol of 315 to 145 in 6 weeks with 1/2 a pill a day, exercise and diet. You can do it!
Ok, everyone have a great day and I'll check in later!
Aw your toe? Did you break it? it will be all better for sandal season! :flowerforyou:

I am fine, I think I can say I had the worst sleep in my entire life! I think I got maybe 2 hours of sleep..freaking pills! I woke up this morning with a super dry mouth, and took some pills, and water, and the extraction sites started to bleed again -_-....I got to excited last night, and was talking when I shouldn't have been, we might buy our first house yayyyy!!!!!!! No ice for me today, I was only allowed it in the first 24 hours, my stomach was going wild last night from lack of food I think, but I couldn't eat really without them starting to bleed again!! Enough with me blabbing :)... Thanks for all your guys concerns!

Li4g: I hope you feel better hun!
  • I am having a great exercise week:
    Sat-60min cycle, 120 min running
    sun-120 min hiking
    mon-180min running
tues-60min run, 60 min brisk walk
    wed-60min run
    660 minutes so far

Congrats!! Exercising is my absolute worst downfall when it comes to dieting... I hate it! but I know how important it is so I try to do at least 30 mins 3 times a week.

    Ok question for everybody:

A friend invited me over for dinner last night and said we were having fried chicken. Now I know fried foods are a sin in the diet world but I was very stingy with my calories for the whole day so that I would have plenty to spare :flowerforyou:. Well I get over there and she's already got all of the sides fixed but hasn't even floured the chicken and it was already 6:30 p.m. I'm getting kind of worried because my doctor strictly said no eating after 8:00. Well we didn't end up eating until 9:00 that night and I feel horrible about it. Not only did I got over my calorie limit about 300 calories but I also ate all those after 8! This is my second cheat day in one week!

So the question is: How do you handle a situation like that? This friend knew I was on a diet but since she's 5'8'' weighing 140 lbs she's never had a problem with eating ungodly amounts of calories and I don't think she realized how much it would bother me if we ate at 9. I didn't want to be rude though and I was STARVING by the time the meal was finally ready so I probably ate more than I should have.

    Any suggestions?

I wouldn't feel bad telling that friend about what you are going through and that you really can't eat after that time. She prob had no idea and would try harder if she knew. If it is going to be late, even if you know you are going to eat but it's going to be bad-I try to eat something before I go so I'm not so hungry when i am there. Good luck, that's a toughy! :flowerforyou:

~1. Your body does not care when you eat. It doesn't know what time it is. Your body uses the calories it needs and stores the rest.
    - I don't know why your doctor told you that, but I suspect he heard it on Oprah, or some other guru.
-There is no basis in fact to this theory of not eating past a certain time. People tend to save calories until the end of the day, though - which can lead to binging - which is a bad habit to get into. Spread calories out evenly through the day. You will not gain weight just by eating after 8PM.
-Many people have trouble sleeping, or acid reflux when they lie down, so they shouldn't eat close to bedtime. You also want to wake up hungry, because breakfast is THE most important meal of the day, it kick-starts your metabolism. But other than that - it is calories in minus calories out. Period.
-I eat every night right before I go to bed. I can't sleep if I am hungry. It has not affected my weight loss. Message songbyrdsweet or shboss (banks) if you need more explanation. Songbyrdsweet is educated on these things.

~2. 300 calories over your alloted calories is not anything to worry about. MFP already has you at a 500 cal per day deficit. So you are still losing weight - albeit slower. I go over my MAINTENANCE cals once a week, and again this hasn't affected my weight loss. Just get right back on the program and don't beat yourself up.:flowerforyou:

 'Sup teamies?? Glad to know everyone is on the mend! Chanty - you take care of those gum wounds - did they give you a rinse to use? If you are taking pain pills, I completely understand the no-sleeping. I had hydrocodone after my surgery last year and uuuggghhh!!! I slept horribly - and I don't mean that I made mistakes:laugh: I just had terrible dreams and woke like every 30 minutes! I got off those things pretty darn quick:grumble:

Thanks folks, for the info on cholesterol and for your encouragement - I know it's not a big deal and that it can corrected - just a minor inconvenience requiring some fine tuning to my lifestyle:tongue:

cm - LOOOVE the lmao emoticon - I too was lmao when I saw that, but dangit, my butt did NOT fall off on the floor. :grumble:

Welcome Lacyjae!!! Glad to have you on board:drinker:

Hi everyone! I am new here and I see that it says week 1 is it ok if I join!? I am 23 150 GOING to lose 35 pounds. I workout everyday almost and am working on finding a way of eating that will help with weight loss. I am super busy ALL of the time with medical school and determined to do well in school AND find time to continue to care for my health!

  • Hi everyone! I am new here

    A big welcome to you!:flowerforyou:
  • Hello and welcome!!!!! :) this is a great group of people :) gonabfit, wow, medical school. What do you want to do in the medical profession?

Well, this has never happened... (on here anyway), my computer told me that I had to eat more food LOL. I've only eaten 1102 today and it's not happy with me about it. I'll eat some yogurt or something later. Today at school, we had a storm come up and my classroom is in a portable. We were running in and out and my class (I only had 6 kids today) was moved inside during naptime, then we moved again because the wind was so bad. My stomach was so knotted I really couldn't eat all of my lunch (I ate the sandwich, laid off the french fries, which was probably a good thing LOL). It all turned out ok though.

prayerful... a ONE HUNDERED MILE BIKE RIDE!?!?!?! WOW woman! You are amazing. I could ride 100 miles... if it was all down hill

Yeah they gave me a piece of paper with all the care instructions, I rinse with warm salt water after every meal...well every time I eat. I am taking tylenol 3s, penicillin, and ibuprofen. I hate taking so many freaking drugs, but it helps...I am getting really nauseous around 12-2 yesterday and today, and then I take a nap, and wake up feeling okay. If I walk around for more then like 5 minutes I get nauseous... yay what fun:sick: :noway: ! At least I do not get horrible dreams!! Just lying awake for literally hours...freaking pills say they are supposed to make you sleepy...thanks for the chatting, it keeps me sorta alive in my bed...:flowerforyou:

This may sound weird but even after missing 4 days of exercise, I managed to lose a whole pound!!!
I am back on track today and yesterday. I worked out a little bit and stayed within most of my calories.
    Thanks girls!
  • Chanty, I"m glad you are doing ok... and doped up on pain killers LOL. Was it as bad as I think it is?

mango, AWESOME JOB!!!!!! Good for you for not giving up :)

Thanks hun! Yeah I am feeling a bit right now, but I just took some more. It is not very bad, just I was eating some pudding, and I was wondering if it was my pudding I was swollowing or a chunk of my gums...:ohwell: the drugs make me not really feel the gums, just my tongue which is bad, because I have a bad habit of touching mouth sores with my tongue. How are you doing?

Well, I was ok, until the visual of you swallowing your gums wormed its way into my mind LOL.

I'm trying to talk myself into eating over 1200 cal. tonight. I'm so proud about being under, but I know it won't do me any good if I go into starvation mode. I think I'm going to do some dancing and then eat some special K. That sounds really good. Maybe make things even out. It's my TOM so I know that I really need to eat my calories or I'll pass out (like I did the last time I lost weight). Off to dance :)

Hey guys! I'm glad the team is active!! Thanks Kelleighanne! I am going to be a doctor/M.D. in 2 years :-D !! Yep and I'm planning on specializing in nutrition and obesity related diseases. :flowerforyou: It's my passion!

I also struggle with needing to eat more! I guess we just have to remember that the body prefers not to be starving and WILL resist at ANY and ALL costS!:noway: I have started trying to eat above my range because I workout sometimes like 2 hours a day *total* and my body is resisting weight loss! I am also trying to eat every 3 hours or so!

Good luck this week everyone! I'm off to study!

Cool! A doctor. I'm a teacher and at one time thought about going back to school and getting my dr., but I don't even have a masters so that's no likely. Maybe when the kids get bigger.

MFP is finally happy with me now LOL. I ate my Special K and it was heavenly. Off to shower and FF through Lost.

  • I have been reading posts for the last few days but didn't reply. Chantybear, glad to hear you're surviving.

I have been active too - to the gym 3 times this week so far. It was hard today because I was at the ER with a kid with an ear infection. We have her medicated now.

Everyone in the house is coughing/sick except me. My husband says keep exercising and eating right and I wont catch it...:drinker: I pray he's right. I DO NOT want to be sick.

    Good health to everyone!

Howdy cm!!!! How's you??:flowerforyou: Yeah, I think getfit goes to spin class at like 6 a.m. or something!!:noway: She's an earlybird that one!

So, today I rearranged my living room furniture and put the treadmill in the room and hooked up a wireless headphone thing to my t.v. so I can just exercise my little legs off AND watch the morning news. I'm soooo excited! I bet it makes it easy to stay on longer - at least that's what I'm hoping:bigsmile:

Good Morning to the BEST Team at MPF! If you are new, welcome you arrived at some of the best advice I've run across.
Welcome lacijae, my advice (and this I do to a fault) is be gracious and say thanks...and then ruin whatever gains in my diet I've made by cleaning my plate, haha..sad but true. CM has great advice.
Prayerfulmom..a marathon and century, wow..I know who to go to for training advice. When I get close to riding long distances I'm writing you.
CM, as always you say good things, regarding one meal or one bad day doesn't ruin our weight loss program. "Just get right back on the program and don't beat yourself up. "
GetFit and Li4g..thanks for the encouraging words..still "wogging"..and trying to like it. I said it before but moderation is the key, sometimes I get tooo involved and get strains and injuries...I'll just take it easy.
Tommorrow is our weigh in day. Have a fantastic Thursday!!! ..Zano132398.png
