New to MFP, maybe a month or so and brand new here. Trying to drop my last 15lbs slowly and increasing my cardio. Currently training for a 70.3. My 5 year old wants to do TRI's with me so I need to get down to race weight and stay healthy so he will follow suit!3

Sooooooooo tired. Told myself I need only go to the gym for 20 minutes. Do 1 set.
Instead, I stayed for 70 minutes, completed leg/abs/shoulders day - 4 sets of the first in each series and then 3 sets for the remainder. Good stretch.
BOOM!
Oh, and I have only had 2 days of HRT, but have lost 1 LB. This may sound RIDICULOUS...but, I have been weighing, measuring, and logging my food since Aug. 24th. And, today, FINALLY, I lost ONE POUND.
I don't care if my HRT has some voo-doo placebo effect....just move the bodyfat OFF ME, for f-sakes!!!!
BOOM!5 -

Welcome to the group. 70.3 is a great distance. Which one are you doing?

Hi everyone! Been using MFP for a long while but never surfed the boards. Trying to stay motivated as I find when I slip on using MFP then my weight starts to creep back on.
I am a runner and put in between 30 and 40 miles a week plus a day of lifting. Goal this year is 1,000 miles.
My biggest challenge is dealing with RA and an autoimmune condition. I can go for months and be in tip top condition and then BOOM it takes me down. I logged almost no miles in June/July as I could not get myself moving. A visit to the doctor for new meds and refocusing on my diet has really made a difference.
Great to be able to say hi to everyone and see whats going on!5 -

I turn 46 this year;) I was lifting for the last couple of years, and now I am doing mostly boxing, calisthenics and running to lose a few and see if I can get a six pack!3
-
You are doing so great with your programs. It gives me incentive to keep going. I'm just getting back to lifting after a long 7 months off due to an injury. I have been able to increase my weights to what I was doing before. So now I am focused on the improvements.4

Checked the website. Between the 2 loop swim that includes water re-entry and the run that goes through the zoo, it looks like a fun course!
I'm suffering from withdrawal pains now that my tri season is over. Wonder if I could talk my wife into a weekend trip to Miami in November?

So my kids (especially the eldest) are interested in working out with me. I tend to either lift heavy or do kettlebells, neither of which seems appropriate for a kid (7, 10 and 12). Has anyone in the group started introducing kids to weight training? I understand body weight exercises or high rep low weight with emphasis on form are best until growing plates fuse (16-18 yrs old) but I also know the kids will want to do what I am doing.
Any ideas for programs that kids and adults can do that are appropriate for both? Any success stories to share?0 -
Forgot my sneakers when I packed for teaching this morning - teaching aqua fitness on a slippery deck is pretty dangerous.0

getting dark much earlier in the evenings now, but we managed to squeeze in another Friday night group open water swim. 1.7 miles done. Tomorrow is a 10 mile run, then doing a local 5k race on Sunday.

Hi! Back on MFP after a brief hiatus. I am 45, mom of 2, would like to lose 20-25 lbs. With the stress of two moves in the last 2 years, I gained about 18 pounds. Just in the last couple years, my metabolism seemed to slow to a crawl...I'm back on track, I've lost 5 lbs., work out hard (Crossfit, running, hockey) 5 days a week, but have to track each calorie to show any results. Looking forward to connecting with 40+ people on here to encourage each other and keep me on track!!! :-) Does anyone else find they can't drink any alcohol at all anymore and still lose weight?? I find that I can't process/digest it as well as I used to - lots of bloating, weight gain, etc. I've had to cut it out entirely to see any results. :-( Just wondering if anyone else has the same issue!2
-
I dont find its stops weight loss but I have drastically cut back. I simply can't easily fit it into my calorie goal. Upside is I'm now a "cheap date" for DH - two glasses of wine is all I can handle before I start to feel woozy.3

Thank you for the award @Djproulx . loving the cool picture you have posted. stay safe!
@tojo_73 I think i might have found right program for your boys! if you are willing to sacrifice some lifting time and replace it with bodyweight training and bands, you can have the boys workout with you and none of you feel cheated, because TAPOUT XT is a Badass workout. YouTube it to see if the boys are interested.
Tapout XT:Legs and Back done! and then some TRX mobility movement.

"P90X2 X2 Recovery + Mobility"=Done!4

12k done. Glorious fall day!5

@MJFSH thanks for the suggestion I will check it out. Sounds similar to P90X but with bands. How do you find the two compare. Until I see how serious she is I am thinking of running through some fitnessblender routines before plopping out for the DVDs though.
Did a 35km bike yesterday aft.3
