    @giantrobot_powerlifting how'd the meet go?

I'm doing a mud run tomorrow against my better judgement. It's a "Rugged Maniac" which already sounds like I should be twenty years younger than I am to do it, but my sister begged me, so here we are.
Hoping to not break myself, which may be hard after helping my husband reseal the driveway yesterday. So very sore and still one coat to go.......
Rugged Maniac isn't so bad. "easier" than a Spartan. the most challenging obstacle this year is "Barzan" they are all optional and there are no penalties for fail/skip. I've seen all ages, all fitness levels there just having fun. don't panic, enjoy!

Took the puppy for her first extended walk out of the yard this morning. Not much of a workout for me now, but that will change. Looking forward to walking and hiking with a dog again.

Didn't die! I couldn't do the two monkey bar obstacles (including Barzan which was insane @gam3rguy ) but besides needing a hand up the warped wall I did the other 23!
    Core class this morning too.
Down another pound, so 4 total since I started all this jazz up again 5 weeks ago.

Morning kids, I am dreaming of deadlifts in all of their variations (lol). I had block, deficit, touch and go and banded deaadlifts. The banded ones posed the best challenge. I must say I am looking pretty darn good in my jeans these days. My IPF approved gear is expected to arrive today as this is required to compete. Have a great day kids.

Gym workout this morning. Tried the "Pit Shark" which is a variation on the leg press with a squat type movement. We shall see how sore I am tomorrow. Bench presses, too. And then I pushed the sled up and down the turf for 20 reps. It felt good - when I was done and ate some breakfast.

Thinking about switching gyms, the new one has a belt type squat machine, not sure if it is the same one. Let me know how it feels.

Another week of mostly hitting the workouts...I took the weekend off since travel + yard work was enough for me...my food intake was high over the weekend too 'cause I like my whiskey...but overall a solid week of maintenance!

Happy Friday kids. I saw the roster for the meet October 5th and it was surreal to see my name on it. We have until September 18th to make any weight changes. I am glad to be in the last weight class, so no worries for me. I will eat some extra pasta to ensure I do not lose any weight (lol). Benching was my name today (extra long, close grip and normal as well as deadlifts. Will hike with my canines this weekend to show them whose boss (lol). Have a great weekend kids.

Functional training today. Strength class was Wednesday.
I'm getting better with my diet, but I feel like I'm seeing a difference in my workouts. Not huge, but not quite as much left for that last push if you know what I mean.
Wedesday we were deadlifting sets of 6. I started at 135 to warm up but only got up to about 175-180 before I stopped adding weight. I was still doing sets of 4-6 but didn't feel like I should go any higher.
Today was lots of cardio. Not my favorite but I know it's important. I kept moving, but I'm ready for a nap lol
Good news is I'm finally on track with my weight loss. My libra trending app finally has my actual weight loss alongside my projected weight loss. Working on dropping 35 pounds by April!

I like the "Pit Shark". I can concentrate on moving the weight with back and legs without having to balance and hold the bar on my back. I think it will make a good alternative to back squats from time to time.

Hi. I'd like to join your group. I'm in my late 40's. I recently started nursing school full time and I can't find the time or quite frankly the energy to work out.
I recently stopped smoking and put on some added pounds. I feel that I need to lose about 20 - 25 lbs. How can I start exercising? Also, I have been keeping track of my meals with MFP however, I am always under my caloric intake goals.

First - you don't have to do additional exercise to lose weight. Some folks lose weight by creating a calorie deficit without any dedicated exercise

That being said, there are benefits to regular exercise - both mental and physical. You can start doing bodyweight exercises at home. 10 or minutes to start and extend the workout time when you are ready.

Search Google and YouTube. There are lots of workouts that you can do at home without any special equipment. You only need to bring the discipline to do the workouts regularly.

Keep checking in here, too. The community here is great and I find it provides some motivation and inspiration for me.

Congrats on quitting smoking. That is no easy task.
Are you weighing your food? If not, there's a good chance you're eating more than you think you are

Hello! Dee here mother of 3. Would love to lose for health reasons primarily. Been into fad diets and yo-yo diets then gained back. I was 50 lbs lighter 6 years ago when I diet but gained it all back after having another baby and now I’m struggling to lose it.

I am at 195 lbs would want to go down to 140 lbs I need help and my body isn’t what it used to be I feel tired and weak and have been having chronic back pains I have hypertension and Pre diabetic and feel depressed . I have been having issues with my kidney as well so too much red meat is not allowed.

I have been struggling and don’t know how to start again. I need to be motivated and fast!!!

I get all excited every time you call us kids...I used to work with a lady who called me kid every day...she's retired now, but I do so miss the jovial antics and happy atmosphere she generated around here!!!
