40+ Club : Where the Cool Kids Are

Hello everyone. I'm Missy from Ontario and just turned 44. I was a member of MFP years ago when I had to get my weight back on track after having kids (please ignore the fact that they are both teens right now - smashes head on wall). I joined about 5 years back and lost 35+lbs....then our whole family took a 2 week vacation to Florida in Nov of '18 and had a blast, and I put on about 5-10lbs...not much, but then Christmas came and you know the story. The motivation just wasn't there.
But now....there is a different story. At the suggestion of my Dr., I have gone off my acid reflux meds cold turkey; in turn, I have cut out most chocolate....ok, chocolate after dinner, to be honest, most sugar, bananas and other citrus fruit. I have also cut out alcohol during the week and have stuck to my intermittent fasting plan.
So, yes....I'm a huge believer in intermittent fasting. I know many aren't, mainly bc they don't believe in it or think it's bad for you. That's ok....I'm not here to win you over on intermittent fasting. I just want to gain a few friends that can make this journey with me....maybe make weight loss a bit more fun. So, if we have something in common, feel free to add me and we can help each other!
I've been IFing 18 months now. I'm 16/8. I did a lot of research on it and found it helpful since I struggled eating in the morning.
Welcome back.2 -
I'm squatted out today. The dogs and I enjoyed the warmer weather today.
Welcome newbies.
Have a great day kids.1 -

Hi everyone I’m 45 and I’ve lost 7.5kgs since October 2019. Would have been more if I didn’t do my back for couple of weeks and people wanting me to drive them around all day and I miss doing workouts. Anyway at least I’m starting to see results now.3

Had a good week...all workouts done...heading to the beach for yard work this weekend, and going to pack the weights so I can keep everything on schedule...my biggest weakness at the beach is usually wine or whiskey, going to be good and stay out of both of those!0

Back/biceps day back on Friday. Always a good feeling when you complete your workout and, in your log, make a note to "increase weight next time".
Sidebar note, this was the first time I'd ever seen more females lifting than males at my gym. And not just because it was a non-peak time with barely anybody present; there were roughly two dozen people lifting, with females making more than half the total. Squats, deadlifts, bench press, rows, the whole gamut. Don't read nothing into my observation...that's all it is, an observation.2 -

Hey Kids,
Its back to the grind after a weekend in the White Mtns of New Hampshire. On Sunday, we participated in the Chocolate Festival in North Conway NH. Twelve local businesses provided chocolate treats (including chocolate martinis, lol) to snowshoers and xcountry skiers at various points along a several mile trail. My guess is that my chocolate intake exceeded the calorie burn from snowshoeing on Sunday.
I got right back into the grind today though. My coach gave me a bike workout that included two 11 minute rounds of sprints. Seven weeks to go until race day.
Finally, I noticed the posts from others here mentioning that they use a time restricted eating approach. I had been thinking about this for awhile and just recently adopted a 14:10 approach to see how I like it. I may have to fuel when I get to long am sessions on weekends - but so far, so good.

I typically skip breakfast, so from dinner at 8 til lunch at noon I'm typically going 16 hours anyway, so I guess I have been doing a natural 16:8 restriction (or is it 8:16?) without giving any thought to it.1

I’m Amber and 42. I’m not new to MFP, but new to the community. I lost about 20 pounds over the past year, but put a few back on over the holidays. I have 20 more to go to reach my goal weight of 130 and would like to reach that goal by my 43rd birthday in June.2

Hey kids.... I was heading towards boredom and talked to my coach. I made the mistake of saying I want my thighs and legs defined and chiseled (lol). My new programming now addresses the boredom and lots of leg work. I have a powerlifting circuit and a body building one. My body is totally confused (lol). I get bored quite easily and I have accepted that about my personality. @Djproulx I know you will kill training. I know you had plenty of chocolate. Hope you had some for me. Have a great day kids.3
