Went to the gym this morning for the my first lifting workout in a couple of weeks. Lordy, the strength goes away quickly. Bench was off about 15 pounds, but deadlift was off about 40 pounds. Yikes! A reminder to find a way to do some sort of lifting workout, even when away from the gym.

Tell me about it, how fast you "use it or lose it". About three months ago I swapped from a powerlifting regimen to a bodybuilding one, reducing the weights and increasing the reps. But I spent a decade doing powerlifting and missed it, so this week I reconfigured my workouts to alternate heavy power days with moderate building days. But when I went to do my power chest, I discovered I'd lost about 40 pounds off my bench max, struggling to lift a weight which used to be part of my warmup. Yikes indeed!

Wish me luck tomorrow for my heavy leg day, I may need all the well wishes I can get! (Next week I will discover how much my heavy back day has suffered...)

Actually, it went quite well. Though I continue to debate whether to include deadlifts as part of leg day or back day, in this plan my heavy leg day consists of heavy singles for deadlift, followed by weighted hip thrusts and leg press. (I don't think I'll ever return to my old days of trying to squat uber-heavy again, risk of injury is too great, so instead of pushing for singles at 500 I'll do sets of 10 at 225 on my moderate days.) All done pain-free, which was very pleasant.

About the only down side was the guy in the platform next to mine, about my size, doing deadlifts with the exact same weight...only I'm doing singles, he's doing sets of eight. Ah, well.

I totally hit a wall this weekend...I'm reducing volume a bit and tweaking macros, and hopefully I'll make it all the way through this week still feeling good!!!

Welcome. That story is familiar. Climbing back up the hill myself.

    Hey Kids,

Beeps, congrats on the streak! That's quite a record.

I've just finished my third round of antibiotics for an ongoing sinus infection, so I"m feeling my energy bounce back. I've been doing all my runs outside and even bundled up to do my long ride outdoors on Saturday. Despite the 40 degree temps and cold breeze, it was great to get the bike off the trainer and on the road.

Now if I can just regain some lost swim fitness, I may actually enjoy race day in 6 weeks. :)

    Pulling for power...done!

Although it's never a good sign when you wake up on back day with an already sore lower back. Had to do some on-the-fly swapping of exercises to avoid straining my lower back but still work the upper back.

    IKR? 3,000 streak today, yay!

I haven’t really been logging my food, though....I have to get back on track with that, for sure. I do track my exercise - that is easier and faster, lol!

Happy Friday kids. I was sidelined for a week with a sinus infection. I'm just starting to feel normal.

My gym issued a notice about the Coronavirus. If anyone shows up that shows any type of cold, flu or respiratory symptoms will be escorted out.

There are several confirmed cases here and the hysteria is a force to reckon with. The school system is now closed for 2 weeks and teleworking is becoming mandatory if at all possible.

Went to get tissue last night and here are pictures from the shelves0ct7buq5gbqb.jpg

No water, Lysol, bleach. Even the dollar store was stripped.

I received notification the meet will most likely be cancelled. I will still train like I am competing.

Beeps congratulations on 3000 days. 2455 for me today. Time is flying. I remember when many of us first started posting on the 40+ club

    Stay safe everyone.
