Hello all. I am a 40 year old divorced, mother of 3 and have noticed that it is REALLY hard to lose weight. I'm a stress eater and have gone up and down in my weight over the years. This time around, I can't seem to lose the weight. Even the low carb diet has stalled on me.
I am working out on the treadmill and doing Turbo Jam for exercise. My calories were at a goal of 1270 but with the increased workouts, I stopped losing and started building muscle (I guess). Today I changed my activity to more active and that has given me more calories to work with. Hopefully with adding a few more calories my body will decide to shed. Does that make sense?

Aw thanks...tried to sort of sneak it in there - good to see folks actually read my tomes...BTW, decided to do Thai and take a sympathy card to the owners of my fave restaurant since they have a picture of the Thai king and queen in their foyer to their restaurant. I'm sure they are mourning the loss of the king.
I wasn't sure if you were celebrating or mourning. But looks like you found a way to do both.l
At a certain age I think you just end up grateful to be able to have another birthday.2 -

First time posting...just joined the "club" in the summer. It does make sense...if your body thinks it is starving, it stops burning as much....1270 is pretty low.
My doctor warned me that the first 20-30 pounds might (key word is might)
come off relatively easy but I'd probably hit a plateau at some point (haven't yet but haven't hit 20 lost, either). Just focus on maintaining the positive habits. You may need to boost the exercise (carry small weights when you walk or add ankle weights?) to kick loss back into gear.0 -
So...my goal is to be under 200 by the new year...and ulitimately, to be at or below what I weighed when I got hitched 16 years ago...160.
I'd like to be between 140-150 but even 160 would make me happy. My 'health coach' recommended MFP and I agreed to try it...2 months and counting, 14 pounds down!4 -

I made a vow a year ago to be in as good shape at 60 as I was at 30. At 30, I was 185 lbs., and went to a Nautilus gym virtually every other day, religiously, alternating upper and lower body, M-W-F-Su-Tu-Th-Sa, etc. I was in phenomenal shape.
Thanks!!
@vikinglander. I snuck in at 58 when no one was looking, so I think you're ok to join the club.
Well my "off season" has come to an abrupt halt. I hired a tri coach to help me get faster in next season's races and she has already begun to map out my race and training calendar for 2017. And she wasted no time in throwing down the gauntlet by having me register for a marathon in March (my first) as the final "training session" of a 16 week winter run focused training block. This will be followed by a bike heavy training block leading to a Half Iron "training race" in early June. Swimming work will be done in parallel with the run and bike training.
I'm excited about having a coach to help me and a bit nervous over the goals she has set, so I guess that's just about the right level of discomfort.
Did a fairly long run yesterday and an easy run today in beautiful fall weather. Tomorrow is a rest day and my legs are happy about that.5 -

Just got back from a 115 minute paddle (just shy of 2 hours). OMG, was expecting 5-10mph winds with a light chop (the forecast), was actually 10-15mph winds with moderate chop. I did get in 4.3 miles, but near the end wasn't sure how long it was going to take me to get back to shore since the wind had kicked up (had to drop to my knees since it was a full on head wind from the NE). No dolphins today, but I did see a rather large sea turtle head as he was paddling through the chop while crossing in front of me (freaked me out at first because I wasn't sure what it was). Now to hobble to the shower...assuming I don't fall asleep in place first...lol.6

Had an awesome 102km across the border in China yesterday Good move that we cut the ride short when the no. 3 typhoon signal officially in effect (we use scale of 1, 3, 8, 10 here, 10 is very rare), we rode back instead of continuing our original route despite the weather seemed still calm at that pount, so blessed we only got caught in some slight drizzle. It's been bucketing today so definitely a rest up and eat day haha6
