Hi everyone. I started out at 305, 300 was pretty much my breaking point. Now I'm down to 283 as of today and I'm ready to get back on track! Looking around the message boards I noticed most members I came across are under 200. It might be just a coincidence but are there any girls like me out there?

Anyway, I've been home sick the past four days and just couldn't take it anymore. So I got up off my bum, put on sneakers, and jogged for the first time in my life. Soooo I lasted 5 whole minutes with much effort and walked another 15. It was just about agonizing but I did it!

I'm in school full time and i work on a brain injury unit at a hospital nearby. I have a gym membership to Planet Fitness and I'm going to start going 3-5 times a week like I did during the summer. I'm starting Weight Watchers either this week or next.

Anybody starting out on the same page? I could use a weight loss buddy :)

In 2003, I weighed 450 lbs. In July of '11, I was 225 lbs, but at the beginning of this month was up to 274. I am dedicated to getting below 200, so I joined this site at the recommendation of a friend. I am happy to be your buddy! I will send you a friend request now!

Just wanted to say I'm so glad this post has gotten such a great reply and thanks to all who have added me as a friend. Feel free to add me!

I'm doing MFP to help me track my food, but I am doing low carb and lower calories than MFP recommends. I would normally never do this but it's Doctor supervised and recommended by my ob and fertility specialist. Either way MFP has helped me so much at tracking what I eat on the go.

Started at 229lbs, current weight 163lbs. Remember to love and believe in yourself even when your critics and scale maybe say otherwise. You're beautiful, stay strong and keep on doing it.

I love your enthusiasm and will be here to encourage and love to hear back from people. I am not sure how the posting thing works ~ facebook is a challenge to me~ lol so I hope you get this message. You can do it, we all can! Keep on Keepin' on. Joanne

My highest was 272. I've almost hit my century point (100 pounds lost). I will still have about 30 to go to hit the top end of my doctor-recommended ideal weight range. It took 2 years with no programs, shakes, meal plans, surgeries, or doctors...just learning to eat right and exercise. In other words...I did the hard way. But I'm grateful because I've completely changed my life...relying on myself was the right way for me. Maybe not for everyone...but I know I am never going back to that 272 pound Shannan. I'm not even the same person I was then.

You can do it...be patient with yourself, work hard, and don't give up when you make mistakes (everyone has bad food/exercise days...some of us have bad food/exercise months!!) You just keep going...success isn't a straight line. It's a great big curly-q- round-about-up-and-down adventure. And YOUR success will be different than mine or anyone else's...you just have to keep going.

Don't be upset when some people lose 25 pounds a month and you lose 4...that's okay. You're 4 were harder to attain and therefore will be harder to gain back.

And don't throw in the towel when you lose several pounds...and no one notices. I had to lose almost 50 pounds before people started asking me if I'd done something different with my hair :P.

Don't drown yourself in junk food when you go try to exercise and it's so hard you feel like dying. The first spin class I took I walked out in 5 minutes. Now I spin religiously 2-3 times a week with the hardest core instructors my gym offers.

The first time I ran I made it a block and then sat on the curb and cried. I've run two half-marathons this year and am training for my first full (I ran 14.5 miles for "fun" on Saturday).

I'm not bragging...I just want you to know that their are those of us who have BEEN THERE. We KNOW. And we are CHEERING for all the girls (and guys) out there on the same journey. If I can do it...YOU can do it. It is POSSIBLE. It can be REAL.

The first part is over...making the commitment. Now you just have to stick to it.

    Good Luck!!

You can add me if you want (although it looks like you've got TONS of response from this post!!)

    Shannan

    Hey,

I am currently at 215, being 5'9 I am told that you can't really notice that I weigh that much, but I know. With my wedding steadily creeping up (October will be here before I know it), my first goal is to lose enough weight to be able to fit into my wedding dress - without making alterations. After I reach that goal, I am hoping to drop down to a happy 135-145. :)

Feel Free to add me. :D

I started in Aug 2011 at 273. I'm now at 246... not where I exactly wanted to be but I'm not letting it get me down. It didn't take overnight for the weight to come on; it won't go away that way either. :) I'm in this for the loooong haul and making the lifestyle changes that will stick around. Anyone is welcome to add me. I am not on the boards much but I check in daily. :) Best of luck to everyone! We CAN do this!

Work hard... dedication... all day long... everyday!

Hello from Houston, Texas. I started at the end of September 2011 at 283 lbs. I'm now at 248 lbs, down 35 lbs. I am 5'9'' and would like to eventually weigh 155 lbs. My endocrynologist told me to start a food log and after trying several apps, I settled on MFP and it's great. I haven't really gone on a specific diet but logging all your food and exercise is really effective at making you think before you eat. I have been a lifetime yoyo dieter, successful at losing but never at maintaining the weight loss.

I am not looking at this as a diet - IT IS NOT A DIET!!! It has to be a lifestyle change and something that I do for the long haul. My doctor told me that keeping a food log is essential not only to losing weight but also to maintaining your weight after you are at a normal weight. Good luck to everyone and we won't always be an >200 pound girl, if we don't want to be. Anyone looking for a friend for support, please send me a friend request. You can't ever have too many friends. Us >200 lb girls have to stick together in this process.

Feel free to add me. Nancy
