Grocery Store Rant! Some people are idiots!

I used to work for Walmart and saw this type of stuff all the time. Sadly it seems as if talking about other people like that makes the person feel better about themselves in some strange way. It always seems to be women too who do this for some reason. The men with them always look as if they could disappear through a hole in the floor.
So glad you said something to her. Someone else may not have been as nice as you and would have "rightfully punched her in the mouth."0 -
She just wanted to justify her cart full of unhealthy food when sitting right beside all your healthiness.0
-
I love what you said to her!! I don't know if I would have been so restrained.0
-
Wow. I'm floored that someone would actually have the nerve to say that to you? I'm really glad you spoke up and didn't let her get away with treating you like that. Crazy beeyotch!0
-
Good for you!!! That's EXACTLY what I would have said if it had been me. You go girl!!0
-
I commend you on standing your ground and saying something to her! I know if I was in your shoes, I probably would have done the passive-aggressive stare down What a rude lady. I will never understand why some people are the way they are. She obviously hadn't experienced any exercise endorphins that day0
-
Bravo! You handled it well and I applaud you!
Hopefully, she mulls over those words and something sinks in. However, with her attitude, I doubt it will happen.0 -
Nice comeback!! I usually come back with my usual... "I may be fat, but you are ugly and I can diet." Yours works better I think.. LOL0
-
I don't mean to dismiss her rudeness, because she was clearly out of line (a couple times over), but I think she deserves some pity. She's obviously the one putting up road blocks for herself. She'll stay trapped in her own little world where nothing is her fault, and she'll never be happy with herself.
The OP is clearly not in that trap, which is awesome.0 -
you go girl!0
-
Congratulations for standing up to the "lady" I am sorry that she was so rude but glad to know that you informed her of how wrong she was. Perhaps she'll take your information and try it for herself.0
-
ur a better person than me..i wud have punched her! LOL.0

I'm in Idaho...she didn't have pajama pants on (I looked), but they were well-worn out sweat pants that were probably never used for their original purpose. I soooo wanted to say many other mean things, but decided to take the high ground.
HAHAHAHAHA - you are my hero of the day! The high road is always best. You demonstrated poise but still shot that ***** down! Well done!0 -
Oh wow. I frequent the same stores (naturally) over and over, and during the past year, I've had numerous comments from my cashiers about my weightloss. Some have even noticed that I now walk to the store instead of drive, and they congratulate my dedication.
Idiots aren't worth being upset over... Let her be miserable all alone.0 -
What a *kitten*!! I would have lost it on her *kitten*. Even if that is what she was thinking, wait until you leave the store or don't say anything!! SHUT UP!!0
-
I.... I think I love you0
-
Hurting people.. hurt people. I'm so sorry that the woman in the checkout was so rude!!! I don't think anyone should even look in another's grocery cart.. when did it become o.k.to be that nosy? Nerve!
This is what I was thinking...Either that or she was extremely jealous of your will power. I hate that this happened to you, but way to stand up for yourself!!!0 -
I love that you actually turned around and talked back!0
-
You should have recommended she visit MFP :bigsmile:0

she is so unhappy with herself that she is trying to justify her bad lifestyle choices. her husband may have said something to her about eating healthier and maybe she's on the defensive about it. then when you said you've lost weight she had to think of something about why you couldn't possibly enjoy life. bascially she was just looking for something so that she could continue to justify her own bad choices.
that being said... good for you for letting her know about your weight loss and that you actually can eat healthy food and be fulfilled... maybe she'll learn a lesson0 -
You are my hero
I agree!!! I usually go to the local Walmart or Costco and just sit on the benches and watch what people put in thier carts... I get so disgusted by what they put in the cart... I will admit that I have made a lot of changes but really??? People need to learn to keep thier mouth shut...
No wonder why people are so annoying and overweight....
Keep your head up high and do what is right by you not anyone else!!!!0 -
So proud of you! You are truly CLASSY and she was truly TRASHY!!!0
-
I am soooo sorry this "woman" acted like this toward you!:noway: I wish you all of life's BEST cause you deserve it! You are an AMAZING lady with strength, fortitude, and beauty inside and out! You are an inspiration to us all!:drinker:0

So I made my weekly trip to the grocery store to stock up my yummy healthy foods. I was standing in the line waiting to pay for my fresh fruits and veggies, super lean turkey burger, fish, morning star items, frozen veggies, greek yogurt, nonfat cottage cheese, whole grain pasta, beans, etc. This woman (and I use that term lightly) behind me loudly says to her husband "You see? That's why I don't eat healthy...it's obviously not working for HER". Mind you this woman had probably 50 lbs on me, the cart was filled with TV dinners, fatty ground beef, beer (no problem with that, just making a point), tons of non-diet soda, sour cream, etc. The only veggies was some canned corn. I felt sorry for the husband cause he was trying to hide behind her when I did the dramatic slow-turn, gave her a hard-a$$ed stare, looked her up and down, and said "Actually, not that I would ever need to answer to you, but I have lost over 187 lbs eating this way. What's your excuse?"
I turned around and she starts grumbling to her husband "I bet she's so b!tchy because she is hungry" I turned around again and said "you know, one of the benefits of a healthy diet is 1. I am not deaf, so I can hear you, and 2. I am able to eat quite a bit more healthy food with lower calories than unhealthy calorie-dense food. I am never hungry, and in fact I am a generally happy person. Perhaps you should try it sometime, maybe then you won't be so irritable." I turned back around again to hear the husband tell her to shut her mouth before I rightfully punched her in the face. I have never been criticised for eating healthy...most people ask me for recipes when I am in line. Goes to show that the miserable ones aren't those of us on this site getting fit, but rather the rest of them wishing for a better life but not caring enough to persue it.0 -

Misery loves company, and this woman obviously had to justify to her husband why she's an idiot.
He already knows she is.
Always feels good to vent, but take it as a compliment. She was paying attention to the things in your cart and felt threatened. I feel sorry for those folks. It's an unhappy life they lead.0 -
You should be very proud of yourself for handling it so well! I probabley would have lost it! Slapped with my celery stalks or something....Well Done!0

I never look through other peoples food baskets the thought doesn't even cross my mind. She sounded like a jerk. I think it was weird in the first place that she noticed what you were buying.0

Apparantly I am a dumb dumb when it comes to quoting...lol!! ANYWAY....I saw something once that definately aplies here...saw it on Facebook...."Maybe you should EAT makeup so you will be pretty on the INSIDE" Baaahahahahahaaaa!! I would have just turned around and said THAT!! LOL!! I saw your picture, and honey, she was JEALOUS!!! Probably afraid her hubs would WANT you!! Some people just need to put others down to feel better about themselves! XOXO!!0
