    Here are my stats from my 1 st one. Remember to have shorts on that fit. Mine kept falling down so I was hamperd some what.

    Did my first yesterday and had to walk a bit. Only at week 5 of 9 in C25K but finished in 39minutes. My goal was under 40 so I am happy with that. Definitely pace yourself! I saw some people that looked like they were in really great shape that came out too fast and by the end were walking. It's so much fun though so don't put too much pressure on yourself. I now know that I have tons of room to improve and that is motivation in itself to keep going!! Good luck!

    I agree! I see so many people going too fast near the beginning, then running out of steam and either quitting or falling behind.

    My best time was 38.40. I was really proud of my progress, since I had run it in 52 minutes the year before.

    21 minus change, but I was much younger then. The best thing is to get a HR monitor decide on a goal HR and speed. Then run a specifically measured 5K like on a track see where you are comfortable at splits and begin to adjust splits for improved times. Improvement will come with conditioning and the race will be tailored to your peak and trough throughout the race. This makes it your race that makes it your style and you then know your game plan. The discipline of sticking with your race style is where you will be able to conserve or expel energy to finish strong.

    Personally I now do a 5K in 1 hr., learned walk speed for life. For me its like playing the minute waltz in 60 seconds as it is written not in 45 seconds just because I can.

    I actually forget the exact time of my PR, but it was under 19:00. That was a LONG time ago though! 4 kids and a lot of years later, I got back into running seriously a few months ago. I've done 2 5Ks as a Mom in her thirties @ 25:01 and 23:32. Hoping to get under 20 minutes again is a huge goal of mine!

    29:58-- just under 30 (hit my goal). I'm not a fan of 5ks, because, even though I'm slow and heavy, I prefer longer distances. My goal is to do 10 miles in 105 minutes.

    23:06, my only 5k I've run. My goal is 21 mins.

    My first 4K was 44:00 in a thunderstorm! My more recent 5K was 35:00 minutes and I started Couch to 5K yesterday, so I hope to get closer to 30:00 at my next 5K in July. Good luck to you! Just remember your number one goal should be to finish and allow yourself to be proud for actually doing it!

    40:07 for my first and 37:50 for the one I did this weekend. You can use Jeff Galloway's magic mile race predictor to estimate finish times based on a one mile timed trial. That formula has been scary accurate for my 5K, 10K, and half marathon actual results.

    Hmmmm, last time I raced one was May of last year... 25:55 (8:20 pace). At the time, I just picked up running again after an injury that sidelined me for 3 months. I am curious to see what my time will be now with better training and more mileage under my belt. I can run that pace now for some of my tempo runs so I'm thinking I'll see a huge improvement, maybe sub 25??

    I say go run the race and see what happens. It's great to have a goal, but if it is your first 5k you should treat it like your baseline. My first race goal was to be under 30 min and run the whole time - no cheating on hills. I ran a 28:26. My PR is 25:26. I hope to one day be under 25. I still get excited when I can see the clock when I get to the finish. It makes me run faster for that last 400 yards.
