I think your first goal should be to just finish the race! Any time you recieve you should be proud of!!! :-) My first 5k I ran in 28:02 and every one since then I have taken time off of that! Good luck and happy running!0

I ran my first 5K back in 2009 in 30:53. My best time is 24:51 (from 2011). I'd love to run a sub-24, but lately my attention has been on running 10Ks and half marathons.0

I ran my first 5k last night at a Twilight 'Race for Life'. My time was 33.55 which I was really pleased with. I have always struggled with running on a treadmill and put it down to not having much of a technique. Being surrounded by people and supporters made such a difference and really pushed me on. I ran with a friend who does 10k's and half marathons, she came in at 30mins bang on. So I felt pleased with my time. I know you prob shouldn't compare yourself to others but it gave me an idea of my performance and I'm already planning to do my next one in sub 30!0
