Re-read. If you come on with your shirtless pic and tell me everything I'm doing is wrong and you know it because you have peer reviewed studies to back it up and you know that it's the truth, I'm going to think you are a douchewaffle. You can't possibly know more than the entire medical community combined, and nothing is absolute. Thinking you do while pushing your picture as "evidence" is what makes a *kitten*.

And you don't think that you are calling someone out with that statement right there. Now it is obvious who it is that you are really jealous of. Did someone tear down your broscience in another thread?

As to the shirtless issue, I think we just need to recognize that people celebrate their successes in different ways. Some do it privately, others want to declare it to all. The point is that they have achieved success, confidence and pride in their accomplishments and I am happy for them.. however they want to put it out there.

    Again, agreed.

On a related note... Men who pose shirtless in front of their bathroom mirror, and use their cell phone to take a picture like a 13 year old girl... bother me. ;)

i'm a female and i hate it when i see a phone in the picture. simply use a timed camera or get creative!

    Very, very, very, very agreed.

The antagonizing part is that you are finding every post that you disagree with and insulting them (you insulted me anyway). There is nothing wrong with progress pics, just like there is nothing wrong with anyone's opinion on it.

    Where did I insult you?

Very first time you quoted me. Saying that I was being a hypocrite. Maybe I was, but my point was that this whole thing was turning stupid fast. It was an attempt at disarming the bomb by pointing out how childish everyone was being....I failed miserably

Ahhhh, yes... but if I remember correctly you are one of those who loves to post half naked pictures of herself too - in a Boobie Friday thread or something similar? Perhaps I'm wrong. I was just never impressed with the posting-pictures-of-myself-fishing-for-compliments-from-people-I-don't-know. But that's just me.... I'd rather be complimented on the type of person I am than how I look in panties. Seems a little more meaningful.

Why were you in the "Boobie Friday" thread if you're never impressed with those kinds of pics?

    A) I'm into men.
    B) It's pretty well known around here, obviously. Apparently you know about it.
    C) I think women can do better. I think men can do better.

Your "A" confuses me, if you're into men why are you in the Boobie Friday thread? Someone's curious...

Okay, wow...some harsh stuff here...but I'll jump in and respond to the OP anyway...

The scale is important to me right now...but it's really as a unit of measurement...just like my heart rate monitor, and my soft tape measure...the ticker on my profile...tracking my food and exercise... all just units of measurement, TOOLS to help me on my way...and I have a long way to go. Right now, my goal is weight loss...but for me that means all that goes with it...and that means exercise, and toning - when I get to a healthy weight I pray that everything else will kinda get back where it's supposed to if ya catch my meaning, so the "FIT" part is important to me. But it is still a journey. And I'm not where you are. Probably farther along than some, way behind others...but that's okay, because this is my journey. So...right now, TODAY, it's weight loss. There will be a tomorrow that is coming when that focus will change and it won't be so much about the number on the scale, but how long I can run (yeah, I want to do that someday, when I've lost enough my bad knee can take it) or how many reps I can do with this or that...you get the idea, I'm sure.

When I started 5 minutes on the elliptical left me huffing...I couldn't do even a girly push-up with Jillian, and my knee couldn't take the stairs straight on...

Now, I can stay on the elliptical for 30-40 minutes, have no trouble following Jillian, although I'm still doing the girly push-ups, and I can run up and down the stairs on a good day (sometimes the knee is still a problem)

Oh...and I've dropped a nice chunk of weight...with a lot more to go.

And all of it is important, but that scale right now, it is a vital tool for me, helps me stay on track, keeps me in line most of the time...

So, my journey will change as my body does... And as my body changes, my focus will. The purpose is health, but right now the focus is weight loss, to help me on my way to being physically able to work harder and harder on the fitness...it's all about the journey...I can't expect to get to the end without taking it one step at a time.

Right now I'm just thankful that I can field a ball for my boys, play on the floor with my little princess and walk the mall with my teenage daughter...I couldn't do those things last November...

I expect there are a lot of people, men and women like me on here...just as I expect that there are those that just want to look hot and don't really care about running a 5k, or benching whatever. That's them. This is me.

Good post by the way, made me really think of where I am, where I was, and where I want to be.

(I'll just pretend I didn't read all the nastiness it brought about, lol)

I did not say you were being a hypocrite. I never used that word. This was my quote:
You started off by asking for everyone to get back on topic, but then you continued with many words doing exactly what we're all doing. Irony.
I called it irony. And it was.

This thread wins for the day...getting Patti to talk about Boobie Friday and Thong Thursday, and Taco Tuesday (where people share their delicious taco recipes, thankyouverymuch) is SO EPIC!! (Patti, I hope you know I tease out of lurve.)

Back to the original post, lest we get this mutha-fu(ker shut down due to going too far off topic, for some people, it is about the el-bees...and why should it matter to anyone else about what their original goal is. At first, I was about losing the pounds and tracking my food intake.

Then, it was about improving my cardiovascular health and flexibility.

Later, it became about getting stronger so I can kick someone's *kitten* in a bar fight.

Now, I'm back to losing pounds and inches and getting my cardiovascular system back in shape.

After that, I'll be back in the gym, lifting weights that make little girly-men cry.

This has nothing to do with my job or anything...unless you count making middle-school boys b!tch and complain during track season, when I have them do plyo, core, and stretching work and I kick their *kitten*.

My point? Goals are and should be fluid and ever changing. So, if someone starts with just the number on the scale, good for them, at least they have a starting point. Quit judging, dude.

As in, implying that I'm gay? That would come as a complete shock to me, my wife, my four (4) children and every person that has ever known me ever.

Plus, gay men shower a lot. I don't have that kind of time.
