WELCOME to the thread for Women in their 50’s (or thereabouts). Actually, all women are welcome. We are a group of women who gain support and encouragement from others who are facing some of the same challenges. This has turned out to be a very helpful tool for me and hopefully for many others. I have met many new friends on this thread. So once again, welcome!

How did you do on your goals for August? What are your goals for the month of September? We can help each other be accountable. Visit daily to encourage and to be encouraged. We’re here for each other.

Hi -I did very well in August. Lost more than 1 lb per week. I also lost an inch off my waist. Hoping to lose another 5 pounds this month. And if I work really hard, I hope to be at my goal weight by Christmas. I'm getting used to the healthy eating regime. Cravings aren't there much anymore. It's almost 7:00 a.m here and I'm off to meet my trainer. Have a great day everyone and good luck with your weight loss goals.

    Good morning ladies:

I am down only ounces so I did not make my end of August goal. So, I guess the good thing is I'm not up ounces or pounds

This is the beginning of a new month and an opportunity for me to work harder.

    Have a great day,

I did well with my August goals

    *drink all my water
yes, even if I had to drink 24 ounces in the last 10 minutes before getting into bed

    *walk 14,000 steps a day
I averaged that because of some days with long walks where I walked 20.000 + but ended up walking 14,000 steps 25 days out of 31

    *lose 4 pounds
I lost 5 pounds.

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: My goals for September:

    *lose 4 pounds
*ride the exercise bike 20 minutes every day
*use my hand weights for 5 minutes a day

It's a new month and we can make new plans and aim for the best for ourselves:bigsmile:

My goals for August were not met. I had goal of 10 pounds and lost 5. I ate well and drank my water. I did exercise but slacked off towards the end of month.
Today is the first day of Sept and I started out great. I spent 80 minutes at gym burning 1000 calories and so far ate great.
My September goals are to lose 8 pounds, to bump up my workouts a little and find some new healthy foods to try. Also I need to get back to planning my meals. This helped me a lot and I have not been doing this lately. I look forward to another great month sharing with you wonderful ladies. Glad to see new people or maybe old people I just did not know.

I just lost 1 pound in August and I am glad of it considering how stressfull everything has been.

For Septemer my goals are to:
focus on really trying to drink water every day.
Excercise at least 5 days out of 7 at home
    Walk 3-4 days at work.
Be accurrate on reporting what I eat

If I do those things, I should loose 4 pounds this month.

Everyone (in the states) get ready for our long holiday weekend! Prepare now for good choices.

Considering the age of the title of this thread, aren't we all "old people"?

Somedays I feel older than other days.

I will try to post my goals tonight. No time now.

My goals for September are to lose 8 pounds. Drink all my water daily, and lay off the carbs as they seem to be my downfall. (She whined) Enough old girl get busy!
  • I would love to join you! I am 56 years old. And I got a grandson on March 24th, and another on July 24th, 29 minutes before my birthday. I am LOVING the grandmother thing! I need to make sure I stick around for a while!
  • I also love the grandmother thing (although I still think we're all far too young to be grandparents)

I hope everyone enjoyed their day and look forward to talking to you tomorrow. Remember to drink water tonight and no snacking after 8pm!!!

    Take care,

Welcome aboard ChurchLady! All it takes is making up your mind to do it and you will, with the help of God. (I thought I could say that because of your name)
    But seriously it works.
I have a daughter born on March 24th and 4 grandchildren. I love it!! They are precious!
Good luck! Decide what you're going to eat before you have a meal and try to only get weighed once a week. It may be more encouraging that way:flowerforyou:

Good evening everyone:flowerforyou: I was lost but thanks to MFP ladies I have found my way home. . I am not using my computer since it is my late night watching my grandson:smile: So I will have to check my goals for August to see how I did ( I'm Senile and can't remember)
My goals for September are to ride my bike 25 miles a week, exercise using WATP and use my hand weights to firm up my arms, at least 4 days a week, keep drinking at least 4 16oz bottles of water a day and to lose at least 4 pounds. :smokin: To all our new friends, I welcome you. I have been tagging along for 3 months and have loved every minute of it.
Our family is full of love, compassion and encouragement:smooched:
Tomorrow is a special day at work . We are having an "End of Summer" luncheon. Stuffed Tillapia, Steamed Brocolli w/cheese sauce, Roasted baby red potatoes and Tropical fruit for desert. THE PLAN IS TO EAT HALF FOR LUNCH AND SAVE THE REST FOR DINNER. ( that's the plan) :blushing:
I think I will log it first and see what the damage would be. Everyone have a great evening, and remember to drink:drinker: drink:drinker: drink:drinker: that water Rosemary
  • thanks to everyone for the welcome...

I am so proud...I exercised for the first time in years...an old aerobics VHS tape I had (told you it's been a long time! :embarassed: )

If you notice, my join date was in May...I never did anything but sign up...I finally made the commitment and started a diet program on Sunday...

Love this board so far!

    My September goals-

    That's all I ask.

It's me again:laugh: I logged in and of course you don't really now for sure if it's right (because every chef cooks a little different) a ball park figure for the previously mentioned luncheon is approximately 556 calories. If I eat my usual cereal for break fast, don't have any snacks and fix a chicken packet for dinner, I will be able to enjoy my lunch with no regret. ( even if my calculations for lunch are a little low). Only time and the scale will know for sure. Night all:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: Rosemary

    Hi and Happy September:flowerforyou:

Warmest wishes to the newest members. This is a wonderful site and particularly the fantastic women on here have been so very kind and supportive.

It pleases me that I more than accomplished my August goals that consisted of

:ohwell: having my MRI on my one knee and got the diagnosis of torn cartilage
:smokin: exercised in a modified version.
:blushing: got back on track entering my food consumed
    shed another 4 lbs
:drinker: consumed at least 8-10 glasses of water per day
    definitely laughed more

Since I will be travelling for the month of September my goals are to make good choices concerning food and exercise. The scale, exercise DVD's, workout clothes, 10 lb hand weights, resistance bands and healthy snacks are travelling with me to ensure a no-fail environment:bigsmile: Hopefully I will be able to keep in contact with everyone when we have internet access.

    Best of luck to everyone:flowerforyou:

    hey ChurchLady,
I think that is awesome! This is the first healthy day of the rest of your life! kc:smile:

I did really great today and then got home and ate 20 gms of fat in a dessert. I am still under my calories but 7 grms of fat over.

Does anyone know if that will cause me to not lose weight?
