Hi Ladies, today's needling didn't give me the good results I got on Monday. The session felt pretty intense. It was much longer longer than the first one. One of the things the PT told me is that I could feel pretty fatigued after a needling session. I was pretty fatigued, and my hip area felt sore. I actually felt like I still had the needles on. I forced myself to walk because I felt that I needed to move. Eventually I took a nap and an Aleve. The Aleve helped and I was able to do more cardio but no weights today.
I actually felt pretty good when I woke up on Thursday morning. I didn't feel the electric shocks in the buttocks like I have been feeling for a while now. I think the exercises and massage I did helped.
Today felt very much like a fall day. We got a little rain, and it was windy all day long. Temps dropped after the rain, and I had to break out a fleece jacket. Temps will drop into the high 40's by 7am and that will be the case for the next week. I will wear a long sleeve t-shirt to yoga in the morning!
Laurie, sounds like another fantastic workout. I am excited about DG incorporating abs into the workout. Ab work is much easier when interspersed into the other work. Good job with the weights!
Wow! How nice that your employer took the staff to a ball game!
I do want to try other CG workouts and hopefully I can get used to her not talking.
Laurel, great workout! I hope the cold front made it to you! It sure made it here!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Morning Ladies,
This morning I tried out another CG workout. This one was Glutes and Abs. She started out with the ab work, and it was all for the upper abs. She then moved into the glutes. The first portion was floor work with the fabric bands, so I was happy that I could use mine. She then went into hip thrusts with weight. She used 44lbs, and I opted for 35lbs. These hip thrusts you used a chair, so I used my bench. The last portion was sumo squats. I'm usually bored by this type of workout, but I have to say that this workout actually went faster than I expected. I think it was getting that ab work out of the way to begin with. Everything was timed, so you did as many reps as you could handle. I decided on another leg workout, because my upper body has DOMS from the shoulder workout yesterday.
Laurel, Great job with the workout! I hope that you start feeling some of the cooler temps. We where in the 60's yesterday, and it will be getting colder this weekend. I'm sure that they might be getting frost further up north. That is very interesting that our neighbors have the same quirks. Must be that type of personality. Maybe every neighborhood has this guy in them. I will be thinking of you while we are gathering all the nuts off the lawn.
Thelma, Glad to hear that you where able to get in a walk. Hope that you feel better and better with each PT session. I'm sure that it is frustrating to be suffering like this. Your temps are so similar to ours. I had to put on a hoodie, and jacket this morning. We didn't have frost, but it felt like we should have.
Have a great weekend!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a good one. I pulled out Strong and Sweaty and did Ramped Up Upper Body and Core then did Cardio Slam. I enjoyed this combo today. I was wondering how I would feel about all that impact in Cardio Slam but it was good today.
Thelma, I am glad you were able to get some walking in. Hopefully given some time you will start to see more improvements. I had forgotten about feeling tired after the needling, but when you mentioned it….yep, I had the same reaction. It finally cooled off yesterday afternoon (to 80) and more overnight. I went out early this morning to water some plants and it was downright chilly. They are predicting lows in the 40s next week here as well. I am SO looking forward to that.
Laurie, sounds like another really good workout. It sounds like they are pretty challenging as well. I probably won’t get a chance to check them out before we leave in our trip, but look forward to trying some when we get back. We finally are getting some cooler weather though the highs are still projected for the upper 70s and low 80s for the foreseeable future. But I am ready to be done with the AC, that’s for sure. And I think that will be pretty soon.
Enjoy the weekend!

Hi Ladies, I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Ours was busy with house and pet chores as always.
I don't think the needling therapy helped in the glute area. I think it made things worse. It does help with from the waist up. I do think that the exercises I found do help, as well as the stretching, icing, heat and massaging.
The weather wasn't too bad. We got some rain on Friday night and also on Saturday night.
I decided to do another week of BB Build. My workouts on Friday were Gentle Flow yoga, walking and BB Build chest and triceps.
Saturday - walking
Sunday - walking and BB Build Back & Biceps
Laurie, sounds like you found another CG fantastic workout! Great job!
I'm not so sure the PT is working. I think that what I've figured out is helping a lot more than PT. We do have similar temps.
Laurel, great workouts!
I also hope I will start to see improvement with my back.
I'm glad thing temps finally cooled down. Night temps will be in the high 40's and 70's during the daytime.
Have a great week!

Morning Ladies,
We had a cold and damp weekend. Last night was a severe thunderstorm, and the trees deposited more walnuts. You wouldn't even know that we had done yard work on Saturday, the same and even more are on the ground now. The winds where up to 60mph, so the walnuts came pouring down.
I consider the yard work my workout on Saturday, my watch even recorded it as a workout. On Sunday I did another CG workout, it was a Total Body 1 hour workout. The one thing that was nice, she didn't repeat any of the exercises. This morning was a Yoga Zone workout Stretching for Flexibility. I have not done this workout in ages. My dd had it, and gave it back to me.
Almost done with the quilt, just have a small section of binding to go. DH and I tackled some of the basement on Saturday. Yep, we where busy bees on Saturday. We got a lot of stuff tagged for donation, and because of that DH was able to put up my sewing machine shelving unit. I now have all my sewing machines on a shelf, and I have a place for my irons also. We also brought down a file cabinet, so that I can put my sewing patterns in that. I'm getting way to organized.
I saw some of the pics from the filming, and I really am liking what I see. 3 Total Body workouts, and all different.
Laurel, Great job with those workouts! Glad that you enjoyed the combo. I'm surprising myself with the amount of weight that I'm lifting for my shoulders. Usually that is my weak spot. I'm also very impressed with the core work, I can already feel a difference. I had to put on an extra blanket, it just got way to chilly for one blanket on the bed. Hope that you are able to open up your windows and enjoy some cooler air too.
Thelma, I hope that you are able to find some relief soon. It can't be fun having to deal with that pain. Awesome job with those workouts! Hopefully you didn't get the thunderstorm that we had last night. It was a bit scary, and they where telling people to get into shelters.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! I hope you enjoyed the weekend. We did. Saturday was a picture perfect autumn day, so we headed to the golf course. It was so wonderful out there. I could have stayed forever. But we didn’t. When we got home, it was outdoor chores. And then yesterday was errand running and trip preparation. We had quite a bit of rain yesterday morning which was nice. Our temperatures are slowly dropping with the lows for the next several night in the 40s. I can’t wait.
For workouts, on Saturday I did Jessica’s Fast Walk 5K and 45 minutes of yoga. Yesterday was a 45 minute spin and Great Glutes. And today was XTrain Burn Sets Chest, Back and Shoulders and Core 1 followed by Cathe Live Jump, Kick and Jab.
Thelma, great workouts. But I am sorry you are still suffering from pain. You know your body better than the PT does, so if what they are having you do isn’t working, tell them. My last PT really taught me that. He didn’t hesitate for a second if I said something was making me tighter. He stopped me doing that exercise that minute. Hopefully you can come up with a better approach. I have my eye on your weather with this hurricane potentially coming up your way. Of course, I am doing it selfishly since we fly out of Atlanta on Saturday. But I really hope you don’t get hit too hard with wind and rain.
Laurie, great workouts. And, yes, working in the yard is a workout! I am sorry to hear about the storm last night and that it dislodged all of your walnuts. That is no fun. I didn’t do anything in the backyard this weekend because we just re-seeded it last week and DH reminded me that we should really stay off of it for a little while longer. So the nuts pile up. I love the sound of what you have done in your basement for all of your sewing equipment. I can’t wait to see a photo of the new quilt. I agree about the photos from the new filming. The set looks so different! I love that it looks like if you were there, you would be walking right onto a beach when leaving the workout room. And I was hoping Al would be back! He has been in several Live classes lately, and I thought that might be a sign that he was there for a reason….like rehearsals.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, I had a pretty good back day today pain wise. I'm still feeling the 'electric shocks' more since I got the needle therapy treatment.
My workouts on Monday were Gina B Country Cardio, YinYasa Yoga,
Walking Outdoors X2 and BB Build Legs. I am really enjoying working out with Sagi again. I love that he has a modifier.
Do you both own Cathe's tower? Does your tower move when you do pull ups? I must be doing something wrong because that thing slides toward me when I try to pull myself up. I have to make sure my feet are firmly on the stability bar between the tower's feet. I am seriously considering getting rid of it because I only use it for pull ups, which I don't do often. I used to use it for Barre but I prefer to use the real Barre I have.
Laurie, yard work IS a workout on my book! I hope there aren't that many walnuts left on the trees! That was quite a storm!
A storm hit us last night with strong winds and dumped 2/10" of rain. It didn't last very long thankfully.
Great workouts! I'm glad you're enjoying CG's workouts so much! I can't believe she didn't repeat any of the exercises on that workout! I really like that!
You sure had a busy weekend! How exciting about the progress on the quilt! Wow! Your sewing area is so organized now! Do you have a giant table to do all you cutting and everything else involved in quilting?
I saw the pictures of Cathe's new program. It looks good. I have to admit that I was disappointed Jay (?) is not in this program. I find Brenda to be very distracting. Everybody on FB is excited about Kristen. Apparently, she is one of the Cathe Live instructors. Al is back in this program too.
Thanks Laurie. I hope I find relief soon too. It's literally a pain in the butt! LOL
Laurel, great workouts! I'm glad you were able to play golf. Saturday was a really nice day for sure. We were in the high 60's during the morning and there was a cold wind. I was freezing! Our nighttime temps will also drop into the 40's.
I do intend to tell the PT that the needling made things worse. I am willing to give the needles another try but for a shorter period of time.
I didn't realize you were flying out of Atlanta! I heard today that most of the rain in Northern GA will be on Saturday.
Hopefully that means Atlanta will be dry by then. I hope that by the time the storm gets here it will be just rain. I am bringing my girls inside the house on Friday night. I just don't want to worry about them at night. Thank God we only have two chickens that we can do this. Some people have an insane number of chickens!
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
This morning's workout was RAW Shadow Boxing, and I used my 1.5lb egg weights. It was fun, and that is all that counts.
The quilt is finished, and I will be taking some pics when the sun is shining. I just need to make a quilt label for the back, and hopefully DH is able to get one of the printers working so I can finish that.
Laurel, Oh how nice your gold outing sounds. I'm sure it was a great relief to have temps that where not scorching you. Enjoy those lovely 40's, I know that we have been. Great job with all your workouts. I will post some pics of my new shelves when I get the chance. We have the block basement walls, so it isn't very pretty. We just don't have to time to do a finished basement, but it is on our list of things to do. Bathroom remodel is the first thing on our list. I'm really glad that Al is back in the mix. I noticed that there was someone different in the lineup, and that is good too. Have to wonder where those stairs go though. I saw them in one of the pics, and was like never saw those before. Cathe is lifting some heavy weights.
Thelma, Great job with your workouts! That is one of the good things about a lot of these instructors having the modifier. It reminds you that you can use that option when necessary. I do have the tower, but don't remember it moving on me. I have used it to hold my barbell during STS. I have a large table for cutting, but probably not as big as some people have. I keep two sewing machines on another table, and I have my newer one on it's own table. I change out the two machines when I feel like using something different.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a 30 minute spin followed by XTrain Cardio Leg Blast. I really enjoyed this workout today. I followed it with a wonderful walk in these autumn temperatures. So pretty outside right now.
Thelma, great workouts. I am glad you are enjoying Sagi again. I have the Fit Tower but it doesn’t move on me when I do pull-ups. Mine is mostly used for holding my barbell, but I do use it for barre still and pull-ups….on the rare occasion I do those. Kristin, the newcomer in the videos, has been attending Live classes for a few years now. I think she is a good addition to the crew because she seems to always use good form and never plays to the camera (unlike a couple other Live class members who have been in past videos). I am wondering, though, if there is only one crew for these workouts. I kind of think it might be like STS where she had several crew members. So Jae may show up yet. I hope so, to be honest. I hope your pain improves, Thelma. That has to be so frustrating right now.
Laurie, great workout. I chose a really fun spin this morning because, like you, my thought was that ‘fun’ is what counts. Like I mentioned to Thelma, the newcomer (Kristin) has been in the Live classes for a few years. I think she will be good. I was surprised to see the ‘stairs’ too! But I like that the new set is completely different. She had been using the same set (with different ‘window’ inserts) since STS. Seems appropriate it is changed for the 2.0 version. Honestly I am surprised at the weight Cathe is using. She has complained more than once over the last year that she is having issues with her rotator cuff. So I was kind of wondering how that was going to work with a heavy weight series. But….looks like it isn’t an issue right now. My sister and BIL have been remodeling their master bathroom for the last 15 months. It is driving my sister crazy. I hope yours goes more smoothly.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Tuesday were on the light side: Walking Outdoors and BB Build Shoulders.
I spent most of the afternoon in the kitchen cooking for my friend with cancer and her DH. I made a huge pot of chicken noodle soup, so there was enough for 4 dinners for 2. Half for them and half for us. I also doctored up a marinara sauce and added meatballs. They can have that with pasta or ravioli. I made two small egg casseroles for her breakfast. One had baby spinach, turkey sausage and shredded cheese. The other one had sauteed onions, red and green peppers, ham and shredded cheese. The casseroles made 8 portions for her. DH vacuumed packed them so they could freeze them. They should get 4 dinners for 2 from the food I made.
I was exhausted after all that cooking but felt really good about helping my friend.
Someone asked Cathe what STS stood for, and this was the answer: At one time it stood for Shock Training System…but I have now converted it to Strength Training System!
She also mentioned that some days she's been tired now that they're filming and has decide to go with a much lighter weight than intended.
I just noticed the stairs in Cathe's new set! I wonder if the studio is in a basement. Is this studio only used for filming?
Laurie, fantastic workout! Kelly's boxing workouts are always a lot of fun.
Modifiers are great. I wish Cathe would have modifiers.
I must be too short for the tower. I am doing the easiest form of the pull up, which means leaning back.
Yaaay! Congratulations on finishing the quilt! Is this your DD's quilt? I can't wait to see the pictures.
I had the feeling you had a large table for all your quilting. I would love to see a picture of those shelves with the machines on them too. Do you have a favorite machine, or do they do different stitches?
Laurel, great workouts!
I must be doing something wrong with that tower. If I don't hold it down with my feet, the tower moves when I pull myself up.
I thought Kristen was an instructor at Cathe's studio! I also thought all the other crew members were instructors too. I didn't realize they were studio members! People super excited about Kristin.
There is only one crew for this program. Cathe has a post on FB where she introduces the STS crew: Jenn A, Jenn D, Brenda, Cathe, Al and Kristin. I'm looking forward to seeing Kristin in action.
I had PT on Tuesday and we talked about the needling results. He said we'd let the body heal and gave me new ab exercises in addition to the leg workout he'd given me before. The ab workouts are tiny ab moves to target the lower abs. I like them.
It looks like you're going to be OK for your flight on Saturday.
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
This morning I did another CG workout. This one was a no repeat HiiT Total Body. I actually enjoyed this one, even though there where some moves that I dread doing. She had you do 20 sec. on 20 sec off, so I knew it was doable. The only time an exercise was repeated, you mirrored the sides. Of course she did way more in that 20 sec. than I did, but it was my pace.
Laurel, Great job with the workouts, and getting out for a fall walk. It is very nice out there, and we need to enjoy it for sure. I'm also glad that she changed up the set. I still remember people complaining about all the plants in one set. What people will complain about is astounding sometimes. We had people complaining yesterday, because they got blocked by our paving project. They complain because the parking lot isn't "safe", but don't want to be inconvenienced for a short time. I remember Cathe mentioning the rotator cuff. It will be interesting to find out what weight she is actually using. I'm guessing that she is lifting at least 65lbs for those hip thrusts. That is a long time to be working on the master bath. I'm hoping ours isn't that bad, but we are pretty much gutting the whole thing and starting over. Why we put in a built in tub is beyond me. It was the thing to do in the 90's though.
Thelma, Awesome job with the workout and walk. All the food sounds delicious, and I'm glad that you are setting aside some for you and your DH. Chicken soup sounds really good right now. Fall and winter make me want soup. I think that she only uses the set for filming, at least that was what I remember. The quilt is for my niece that is getting married next weekend. That came up so fast, but I was really glad that I got this quilt finished. Tonight DH and I are going to work on the label. I was going to try it out last night, but the printer didn't work and our oldest came by for a visit. I do have a favorite machine, and right now it needs to go in for repair. It started to make some interesting noises, so I need to bring it to my favorite repair guy. All of my machines do different things, but the older Singers are only straight stitches. Those are great for the piecing that I do. I did make the wedding dress on my oldest machine, because it made the best stitches.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was XTrain Burn Sets Bi’s and Tri’s, followed by Cathe Live Warrior Kickboxing 2 and some yoga.
Thelma, great workouts. And wow on the cooking!! I would have been so exhausted after that. I have no doubt your friend will be so appreciative. And I am glad you were able to keep some for you and your DH as well. I don’t think Cathe’s filming studio is in a basement….I think she made it look like it is though. She has used that studio for the two virtual road trips she has done, and I never saw any hint of stairs in those. But I like the look. I saw that photo you mentioned about the crew this morning. I imagine the time commitment might have been an issue for Jae. Well that and the fact she is 55 or 56 years old! I am not at all surprised to hear Cathe say she is tired from the filming. Being perfectly blunt, Cathe is definitely slowing down with age. That is not a criticism because so am I! But it is very noticeable, especially when I do a Live workout from now and then do a Live workout from a few years ago. I really admire her for doing this series given that. I just hope I have the energy to do the workouts! I saw that the weather forecast for Atlanta has improved for Saturday. But poor Florida right now. Just not good.
Laurie, sounds like another great workout. I had to laugh at some of the things people complain about. You are so right. I remember that Cathe set you were talking about with ‘too many plants’. Too funny. I have been unimpressed by some backgrounds before but that was not one of them. She mentioned she was using 65# for those hip thrusts. I know I won’t be!! It is the getting the weight on and off my hips that’s the problem more than the weight for the exercise. But Cathe has always been more adept at moving heavy weight around than I am. Maybe it is because I seem to attract injuries. My sister and her husband completely gutted their bathroom AND their closets to change the entire shape of their master bedroom and create better closet space and a bigger bathroom. So it is a pretty significant construction project. And she keeps saying it is their last major DIY project too!
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, Wednesday was a forced recovery day. I slept 3 hours on Tuesday night and Wednesday was a busy day. I was tired the entire day.
My workouts were two walking sessions and gentle yoga.
I dropped the food at my friend's house. Poor thing was having a bad day. She almost cried when she saw all the food containers. I asked her if they'd like me to make again something I've brought them. I made a skinnytaste recipe with roasted turkey kielbasa, asparagus, yellow peppers and cherry tomatoes. Her husband apparently went nuts over that. I'll make them a Cajun kielbasa and shrimp recipe I have one of these days.
Laurie, sounds like another great CG workout! I think I'll do a CG week in the next two weeks. I'm thinking I might do a Bulk week with Sagi next week.
People complained about the plants in Cathe's set? WHAT? There is a plant in her new set! LOL
Are you and your DH redoing the bathroom or are you hiring a contractor? Sounds like that tub will be a pain to get out of there. I'm not a tub person. This house has one tub, and we use it to bathe the dogs.
The chicken soup was my first soup this fall. Going forward I'll make soups a couple of times a month. I love soups at this time of the year.
I can't believe your niece's wedding is next weekend! Did you take pictures of the wedding dress? I would love to see a picture. You are so talented!
I had the feeling you'd have a favorite machine. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your repair guy to fix it.
Laurel, great workouts!
My friend was very appreciative, and she was almost in tears.
Is the filming studio Cathe's or does she rent a place to film a new workout program. It doesn't make sense for her to own a filming studio if it's only going to be used a few times.
it doesn't sound like the stairs in the studio are real.
Jae probably had an issue with the time commitment. I can't believe she's in her mid-50's. Cathe is amazing, but it makes sense for Cathe to have slowed down. Cathe is amazing. I definitely have slowed down.
Florida was hit pretty bad. My friend lives in Tampa and her neighbor's tree from across the street fell all the way across the street. It landed on the power lines and the very top on the tree is on my friend's driveway. Thankfully the house isn't close to the road! My friend is trapped in her house until someone cuts the tree down and takes it away.
You will be fine on Saturday for your flight.
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
This morning's workout was CG Dumbbell Full Body Strength (Complex) workout. She did 4 exercises for 10 min. So you just kept repeating those four exercises, for a certain amount of reps until the time frame was up. I actually really enjoyed this format. I was able to start out with 20lb weight, but did have to use a 15 for part of the workout. Overall I'm impressed that I'm able to lift 20lbs for my shoulders. If anything comes of working out with Caroline, it is increasing the strength in my shoulders. I was able to do a side plank lift using a 15lb db!!! I would have never thought I could do that. Of course CG is lifting 22lbs, so I'm impressed.
Laurel, Great job with the workouts! I can understand why Cathe is slowing down, because I have been experiencing the same thing. That's why I think doing the STS 2.0 is probably easier to handle for us older adults than jumping around. My knees are so sore after a lot of jumping, so I have to modify now. With my bad knee I was seeing fluid retention after a cardio workout. It looked huge! Since I have been doing low impact, and weight work it has gone back to a normal size knee. That is a problem with that large amount of weight at home, it is hard to muscle it around. I noticed that she had some orange padding on the barbell in one shot. It was pretty thick, so am curious about that. The bathroom sounds like it is going to be really nice. We are not planning on going to that extent, but want to enlarge our shower, change the sink area, and put in some type of shelving unit. We are leaving our closet as is, someone else can deal with that after we leave.
Thelma, Nice job with your yoga and walking. Sorry to hear that you had a difficult time sleeping. The meals sound delicious, and it really does sound like your neighbor is appreciating the gesture. I can't imagine going through what she is, and then having to deal with making a meal. I know that DH would have a hard time cooking. There was one series that Cathe had plants all over the place. Some people had nothing else to complain about, so they focused on the plants. We are looking at doing some of the work in our bathroom ourselves, and have the pluming work done by a contractor. I think drywall would probably be contractor also. I don't think my DH wants to deal with drywall anymore. He just drywalled his whole garage, and he did indicate that was the last time he would do something like that. I will for sure have pics of the dress. My sister was finishing up some lace work, so I will get a pic at the wedding. I have one that doesn't have the sleeves on it.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a 45 minute spin followed by 45 minutes of Pilates. Good stuff.
Thelma, I am glad you took a recovery day as busy as you were this week and not sleeping. I am glad you were able to help your friend with those meals, though. It sounds like she needed it yesterday. The damage in Florida is pretty stunning to be honest. I hope your friend can get out of her house soon. We have reached out to some of our friends. One friend was in Naples, FL which got hit so hard. We haven’t heard from him yet. Just devastating the damage. Anyhow, when Cathe built her gym, she included a filming studio. She mentioned in one of the road trips that her DVD business, during COVID, kept her gym afloat financially so I think the studio over these years has probably paid for itself.
Laurie, sounds like another fantastic workout. I could never do those side planks lifting 15#! I think the heaviest I ever went was 12, and that’s probably never going to happen again. So great job!! That must feel so good to see strength increases like that. I am sorry to hear about your knee swelling so badly. I am glad you have figured out a routine that prevents that. I think I am finally beginning to convince myself that my long non-spin cardio days are pretty much over. I just think they are becoming more counter productive than productive. I am sure I will pull out some of the longer, more fun kickboxing workouts down the road, but it won’t be very often. And I am okay with that. I feel so much better on days when I do solid strength training, 30-40 minutes of cardio and a good stretch. I have really been changing things up the last several weeks with doing cardio before strength and such to see when I feel my best. These last two weeks, I have been doing split sets with shorter cardio (cardio after upper body and cardio before lower body), and I feel great. So I am really looking forward to that four weeks of split sets when we get back.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Thursday were Walking Outdoors X2 and BB Build Chest & Tri's.
My PT has added new 3 core exercises which I really like. Today was a better back day.
Laurie, WOW! You're turning into a superwoman! Great job with that workout and great progress too! I'm going to check out her workouts and select a few to try in the next two weeks.
I am definitely slowing down. My body doesn't want to jump around anymore. Low impact is my thing. I think you're right about us doing STS 2.0. We are strong thanks to all the strength training we do but the high impact stuff has got to go. I rarely do jumping jacks anymore. Jumping doesn't feel safe for me anymore.
My friend tells us how horrific this entire ordeal has been. Her incision is all the way from the top of her abdomen down to the bikini line. She is the cook in that family so her husband is not used to cooking. At least my DH can cook and is good at following recipes.
This is the perfect time to do the bathroom given that your DH is now retired. Dry wall is a pain!
I can't wait to see the dress! Where you able to print the label for the quilt?
Laurel, great workouts!
My poor friend needs all the help she can get. I've offered to do food shopping for them and even help her clean up her house, but she won't take that kind of help. I bought her a Mandala coloring book and coloring pencils so she can do something other than reading and watching tv. She really can't do anything given her massive surgery. The incision opened up a little, so she has to be extremely careful
OMG the damage in FL is terrible. DH's boss and his wife own a condo in Naples. They are there this week and decided to ride it out! WHAT? He texted DH today to tell him the were OK, and that it was pretty bad.
My friend and her neighbors still don't have electricity. The strange thing is that the tree guys were there in the morning. There were several bucket trucks and about 10 guys. They looked at the tree, left and never came back.
Cathe must do very well with her business to be able to build her own gym and filming studio. I wonder if she rents the studio for other purposes to get some income out of it.
Cathe has a huge following, so I am not surprised her DVD business and road trips kept her gym afloat financially. I am sure the studio has paid for itself. I seem to remember that KCM had used her studio before. I think Laurie told us about it.
I want to wish you and your DH a wonderful and safe trip. Have fun and lots of pizza and pasta! Don't forget the wine and gelato! LOL
Have a great weekend!
Thelma

Morning Ladies,
This morning was CG Arms & Abs. She started off with ab work for the first half of the workout, and then moved onto bodyweight tricep work. So push ups, dips etc. After every two tricep type bodyweight she would do 40 sec of dips. Now I'm not a big dips fan, but spacing them out like that made them not so horrible. It sure was a lot of them over the rest of the workout though. She followed the bodyweight with weights, and did the same format. I used 12lb's because I'm sure my triceps couldn't handle anything heavier after the bodyweight. She did two weight tricep exercises, and then dips. I'm really feeling those triceps right now.
Laurel, Have a wonderful trip! Great job with all those workouts. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one that has been in the same mindset with their workouts. I think that I have said this before, but it really sucks getting old. It is crazy how much damage that storm caused. A friend of ours sent a picture of his collector car upside down. Apparently the garage flooded and moved the cars outside. Again have a great time.
Thelma, Nice workouts! Also nice that you have some more core exercises to try out. LOL about the superwoman, I'll take it for now. Now I need to work on the triceps. Ouch on your neighbors incision. I like that you are making them some healthy options. I'm sure that is probably better for her right now anyway. I will have to remind DH about his retirement and tackling the bathroom. He is still working on his mom's condo. None of the books have been packed, so I think that is on tap for Sunday.
Have a great weekend,

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was Cathe Live Double Trouble which is a total body workout. I followed it with XTrain Hard Strikes and Core 1. Things are a little busy today getting ready to go, but I feel like everything is under control which makes me happy. Oddly enough, as much as I hate to say it, I am looking forward to a break from working out. Ask me by Thursday and I might be going crazy. But I am hoping that we will do tons of walking so I won’t feel sedentary at all. Thank you both for the well wishes for our trip.
Thelma, great workouts. I am glad your back is feeling better. Your friends incision sounds painful. I hope she takes it easy and lets it heal. I wonder if those tree guys went and saw that there was nothing dangerous about the tree (like lying on power lines) and decided it wasn’t a priority at the moment. I imagine they have a lot of work right now. It is just so sad. I fully intend on enjoying the Italian cuisine and wine while we are there! I’ve already scoped out a ton of restaurants where we are going to be. I hope my clothes fit for the trip home!
Laurie, sounds like another fantastic workout. I bet your triceps are fried. Getting old definitely sucks. It takes such a different mindset to recovering from an injury because from an injury you work your way up to something but with age, you consciously have to let things go in order to be safe. But like with your shoulder weights, there are still triumphs to be had. But the giving up things permanently is really hard. Yikes on your friend’s car! I hope they can get it properly fixed.
See you in two weeks. Stay strong. Ciao!!

Hi Ladies, I hope you had a nice weekend. Ours was nice and as always busy with chores and the zoo. Saturday was a bad back day. Thankfully Sunday was better.
We lucked out with the hurricane. It didn't get here like it had been predicted. It's been windy since Friday. There's no rain in our forecast for the entire week. I hope things do change though.
My workouts on Friday were: Gentle Flow Yoga and Walking Outdoors.
Saturday: Walking Outdoors.
Sunday: Walking Outdoors and BB Bulk Chest
Laurie, sounds like another fantastic CG workout! Good job!
I don't think my friend and her husband realize the meals are on the light side. I think it's good for my friend to eat healthy given her condition.
Is your DH packing everything from his mom's condo? That has got to be a hard task. Too funny that you'll have to remind him he is retired when he tackles the new bathroom.
Laurel, great workouts! I'm sure you'll get a lot of walking done in Italy. It's the only way to see things.
My friend and neighbors in FL finally got their power restored on Friday at about 6PM. Turns out the first crew didn't know how to ground the electric wires. The new crew did a great job cutting the tree and the electric company restored the power shortly after.
Have a great week!

Morning Ladies,
Had a very nice but of course busy weekend. On Saturday I spent a lot of time working on quilts, and came up with the label. DH was able to get the printer working, and it looks great. So I was having fun sewing. On Sunday we tackled more of my MIL's condo. I went through a lot of things, and determined if it needed to go on consignment, goodwill or we keep. That was a ton of work.
I'm going to start one of CG's programs. I determined that EPIC III would be a good one, because it fits my timeframe. So this morning I did Day 1 Legs. It was a tough one, and I used 25 and 15lb dumbbells.
Laurel, I hope that you have a great time! Of course you did some great workouts, and I'm sure that while you are on vacation you will do a ton of walking. I know that when we went to England, we sure walked all over.
Thelma, Great job with all your workouts this weekend. Glad to hear that your friends have their electric back. We have very little to do in the condo now, just some cleaning. As of this weekend, all the big furniture is out of the condo. We are brining two dressers, and a stool up to my sister this weekend. It has been a long process, but I'm glad that it is finally coming to an end. She just had so much stuff.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Monday were YinYasa Yoga, Gina B. Low Impact Cardio, Walking Outdoors and BB Bulk Arms. I just loved this Bulk Arms workout!
Today was a much warmer day. We didn't have to cold breeze we've been having. It wasn't breezy at all until late in the day.
We've had some guys here since Friday re-staining the high parts of our house where DH can't reach. They also installed gutter guards, which will make DH's life easier. They finally finished today! We don't have curtains so it's great to have our privacy back. The dogs can relax too because they've barked a lot. The word "quiet" has been used countless times since Friday.
Laurie, you sure had a busy weekend, but what a relief it must be to almost be done with your MIL's condo. It does take a lot of time to be going through things. How wonderful that your sister will be able to use some of the furniture! Did your girls keep choose anything for themselves? How is your oldest doing?
I'm so glad you were able to print the label for your niece's quilt!
Those EPIC III workouts look hard! I may try her Iron series. Those look more like my speed! LOL. She has so many options!
See you tomorrow!

Morning!
This morning was EPIC III Day 2 Upper Body. Another tough workout, and I chose 25lb weights for the chest and back work, 12lbs for the shoulder and triceps, and 15lbs for biceps. She did two exercises done twice, and then some push up combo. If I have to do push ups, that's the way to do it.
Thelma, Great job with the workouts, and loving those Bulk Arms. We have been experiencing the colder weather, and the leaves are really starting to turn now. I'm sure that by next weekend it will be really pretty. Glad to hear that the work on you home is complete. LOL about the privacy, I'm sure that would be a little weird to experience. Rocket has the same problem with people around the house. No matter how much you tell him to be quiet, he just needs to protect the house. The girls did choose quite a bit of things. The youngest is into the mid century modern, so there where quite a few pieces that she liked. They both got a cedar chest, my MIL had three of them. So DH's niece also got one. My dd's have my MIL, and DH's grandmothers. His niece wanted DH's great grandmothers chest. That one came over from Austria, with his great grandmother. My oldest is doing really well. She is kind of surprised that she isn't feeling bad, but I'm sure that will change as she progresses. I looked at the Iron series, but opted for Epic III. We will see if that was a wise choice. Have some good DOMS from yesterday's leg workout.
Have a great day!

My workouts on Tuesday were Gina B Pop Walking Outdoors and BB Bulk Legs. Another great workout!
Hi Laurie, fantastic job with those heavy weights! No wonder you have DOMS! I am having to lift a little lighter, so I don't hurt my back. At least I can still lift something! How many days a week are you going to lift weights?
I'm glad our dogs are not the only protectors! Louie is so funny. He can't control himself. It's like the hiccups! He has to get the last bark in I always say.
Sounds like your MIL had beautiful antique furniture! How wonderful that your girls got to keep some of their grandmother's things.
I am so glad your oldest is doing really well! I'm sure she will feel some of those bad pregnancy things as she progresses. Is she showing yet?
See you tomorrow!

Morning!
This morning's workout was Epic III Day 3 Abs, Glutes & Hamstrings Circuits. I love that she starts out with ab work. She then went into a circuit of hip thrusters of different variations. 5 exercises for 3 rounds. It was then into the same type of circuit for hamstrings. She was using 55lbs, so I went with 45. That was tough, and I could really feel it in the glutes.
Thelma, Awesome job with the workouts! I'm guessing that the BB workout are doing what you need them to do while you are in recovery mode? CG's program has you lifting 3 days, active rest day, full body weights, rest day and then a hiit day. This type of week really appeals to me, and I'm thinking the active rest day will be walking / boxing and my rest day will be stretching / yoga. I know that we have to laugh at Rocket, and Louie sounds just like him. You just have to laugh after a while, because they can be so silly. Oh for sure the dd is showing. She is a very tiny girl, so she is all baby.
Have a great day!

Hi!!
My workouts on Wednesday were Gentle Flow Yoga, Walking Outdoors and
BB Bulk Back. The back workout had under hand rows using the barbell. It was a little too much for back and I wasn't even using heavy weights! My heaviest was 35 lbs; which used to be my lowest weight.
Yesterday and today were two really bad glute days. I had major throbbing deep in the glute. I actually took Aleve two days in a row for the first time. I've iced, stretched, massaged and applied heat. I am finally feeling better, but it could be the Aleve and the chiropractic adjustment I got today. I know that one of my problems is sitting for too long. I am actually afraid to sit down now, so I've been standing a lot the last two days. I made myself a standing desk by stacking up two stools. It's working out great for my laptop. I am also using a pillow between my legs at night because I sleep on my side and that stretches the piriformis, which is part of my problem. Hopefully things will improve with the changes I've made. I've been down in the dumps the last two days. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
Laurie, great workout! CG is very petite, but she is super strong! She lifts seriously heavy weights. Good job keeping up with her! I like that program style you're doing. The Iron one has 2 upper body, 2 lower body and 1 full body. I'm afraid this style might be a little too much for me. I need to look at her other programs.
The dogs are really funny, and DH is so in love with those two boys. Sometimes I feel bad for the cats because he doesn't give them the attention, he used to give them.
Your DD must look so adorable with her baby bump. Did you start making anything for the baby yet?
See you tomorrow!

Morning!
This morning's workout was GHUTV 5000 Step Walk.
Thelma, Dang on the back exercise, but great job with the workouts! I don't know how you did all that standing. I know that I would be so tempted to just sit, but understand that doing that for to long of a time can make things so stiff. I hope that your tomorrow is a better, less pain day for you. What is with these petite strong women. When she says the weight in kg it doesn't sounds so bad, but then when it is calculated out, I just have to go no way on me lifting that much. Hopefully I will get to that point, but then I would need to buy some really heavy weights. I think my heaviest is 30 in dumbbells. I did use my barbell, but that digs into the hips to much. Maybe I need some more cushioning. I'm sure that you can find something, or make one of CG's programs work for you. Sounds like your DH is a very dog oriented person. I'm in the process of making a quilt for the baby shower at the end of the month. I don't have all that much to do on it, but can't work on it until after this weekend. My nieces wedding is on Saturday, and we are leaving tomorrow. Our youngest is in the wedding party, so she needs to be there tomorrow for the rehearsal.
Have a great weekend, because I don't thin that I will be able to chat tomorrow.

Hi there! My workouts on Thursday were Walking Outdoors and BB Bulk Shoulders. My shoulders love Sagi's shoulder workouts.
Today was a much better back day. Thank you, Lord! My PT today massaged the part of the Femur that sticks out on the side of the hip. On my left side that bone is very tender. He really massaged that bone. It was painful but I didn't complain, and I think the massage helped. We can't understand why it is so tender. I have a follow up appointment with my nurse practitioner about my back issues. I am sure she is going to prescribe an MRI. The PT thinks we need to focus on my back. It appears that my left side is the biggest problem and weakest side.
I thought I'd hurt my tibialis, but the PT doesn't think so because I feel tingling all over the tibialis area to the top of my foot. That indicates is a nerve issue. There is a nerve that goes from the top of your thigh all the way to your foot. This would explain the tingling.
I was bad tonight and sat in bed way too long. Now my lower back hurts. Live and learn!
Laurie, great workout! I hear you on the weight not sounding bad in KGs! I am sure you will lift heavier weights as you progress with her workouts. How did she use the barbell that it dug into your hips? Cathe had an orange barbell pad on one of her new videos. I'm sure she'll be selling those. Did you see her girly-colored weights? Love them!
DH loves animals. He's been the best cat dad ever, but dogs are needier than cats, I think. Our dogs are just too cute. I am guilty too of loving on them too much.
I am sure the baby's quilt will be beautiful! I can't believe your niece's wedding is already on Saturday. Have a safe trip and I hope your niece has a beautiful day and wedding!
Have a fabulous weekend!

Good morning!
Laurie, I hope you had a great weekend and that your niece and her husband had a lovely wedding.
We had a very nice weekend. We went out to dinner with some friends on Friday. On Saturday, we went to the Sorghum Festival and on Sunday we did things around the house. The weather was absolutely beautiful. Saturday was a little cooler and Sunday was warmer, both days were sunny. The leaves are definitely turning colors all across the valley. My back behaved most of the weekend but on Friday I needed another Aleve. I see my nurse practitioner on Monday morning to talk about my back.
My workouts on Friday were Gentle Yoga and Walking.
Saturday walking.
Sunday walking and BB Bulk Arms. I decided to do another Bulk week. I have to decide what I want to do next week. I'm thinking KCM.
Have a great week!

Hi Laurie, I forgot today was a holiday! We had another beautiful fall day here.
I had my follow up with my nurse practitioner and she will order an MRI. Now we way for my insurance to approve it. She thinks my issue is my sciatica nerve. Not good!
My workouts on Monday were Walking outdoors and BB Bulk Chest.
See you tomorrow!

Morning!
Sorry I wasn't online yesterday. Got really busy right away in the morning, and I forgot afterward. The wedding was really nice, and everyone had a great time. My nieces had created a video and it was really nice, of course at the end they had my dad congratulating them on their wedding. So of course everyone in our family was crying, because he wasn't able to be there. Very sneaky of them. The dress looked great, and the quilt was very appreciated also.
My workout on Friday was CG's Epic III Day 4 Full Body Complexes, no workouts on Saturday or Sunday. Monday was Epic II Day 5 HiiT, that one was tough because I was tired. This morning was Day 6 Back, Biceps & Core.
Thelma, Awesome job with all your workouts. Glad to hear that you are still able to get some relief for you issues. Hopefully the MRI will be able to tell you what is going on. I can't imagine what you are going through with all of this. You are a trouper for enduring all of this. Sounds like you had a really nice weekend. I think that you are right on the dogs being more needy. Cat can take care of themselves for quite a while, if they have food and water.
Here are some pics of the dress and quilt.
