Hi Ladies! I hope you enjoyed the weekend. Ours was good. Saturday we did a blend of chores and errands, and relaxed for part of the afternoon as DH had an early flight out yesterday. Yesterday was quiet for me with him gone, and I spent most of it cleaning the house. By mid-afternoon, though, I curled up with a good book and enjoyed that time immensely. It was pretty hot both days this weekend, but today is overcast with some rain and temperatures in the upper 70s. What a welcome break this is.
For workouts, on Saturday I did a walk with Jessica Smith and 45 minutes of yoga. Yesterday was ICE Rock’m Sock’m Knockout and Peloton Pilates. And today was 2.0 Body Part Chest and Triceps with Bonuses premix. This workout is 76 minutes long, and, surprisingly, I was able to maintain my weight throughout. To be honest, I had a bigger mental challenge with this workout because of the length than I did a physical one. I kept trying to convince myself I needed to go down in weight, and, thankfully, I failed at that. But I also think this is the only one of the workouts that I will include the bonuses in and the only reason I did with this one if because both of these workouts fall a little shorter than some of the others, and I enjoy the bonus moves. I think by Friday, though, I will be having both a mental and physical challenge with these longer workouts. Anyhow, I followed it with a 30 minute spin.
Thelma, I am thinking about you today. I hope your surgery goes well, and you are home tonight comfortably resting. Great job finishing up with the 2.0 Body Part workout!
Laurie, I am glad you enjoyed the game. I love the atmosphere of a good football game. Congratulations on your anniversary!!! What a special month this is for you, and I love how you have been celebrating it. Ironically, DH and I will both be turning 60 the same year as our 35th anniversary (2025). Since our anniversary is sandwiched in between our two birthdays, which are only 5 weeks apart, I am thinking we need to have a month like you’re having. Great workout this morning.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, I didn't get much a of a workout on Monday, but I did a low impact walk early Monday morning.
I am so glad the surgery is over I would say the incision is about 1.5-2". It's a vertical incision. DH was at the hospital's pharmacy when the doctor went out to talk to him about my surgery, so we won't know what she had to say. The post-op recovery nurse had printed discharge instruction from the doctor for me. I'll have to look at them later.
I felt a little pain when I woke in the recovery room, so I was given a couple of meds. As soon as I got home. I started the pain management protocol the doctor prescribed. I took ibuprofen and later on a heavy-duty med. By 6pm when it was time for more meds, I realized that I had no signs of pain. So I didn't take any meds. Thankfully so far, I've not needed more med pains. I hope it will continue that way.
We are getting a pretty bad rainstorm with thunder and lightning every once in a while. It's been raining torrentially for a long time.
Laurie, I'm so glad you had a great time at the Packer game!
I think the tower's bar may be OK for hip thrusts if you put a barbell pad on it.
Thank you so much for thinking of me during surgery.
Laurel, I'm so glad you had a good weekend. Great job with your wokouts. I can totally understand you're having a mental problem due their lengh. Fantastic job keeping up wit weigts!
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
This morning's workout was RAW Kettlebell Kickboxing. This one has always been a fav of mine, so it was fun to give it a go this morning.
Laurel, Glad that you had a good weekend, but dang on your DH heading out again. Great job with all those workouts, and of course getting through that long strength workout. I don't know if I would have even started it with that timeframe. I totally support having a month of celebration. I almost had a tripple threat of sports, since Nascar had a truck race at the Milwaukee Mile on Sunday. DH decided to attend a huge car show instead, and I was able to get in some sewing. With all that has happened within the last year, turning 60 hasn't been so bad.
Thelma, Awesome job getting in that workout before your surgery. So glad to hear that you are doing so well post surgery. I'm sure that your workouts have a lot to do with how well your body is handling this.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was Party Rockin’ Step 1 and Perfect 30 Yoga with Core premix. I am so glad I revisited the yoga workout. It has been awhile, and I really enjoyed it today. I am also glad I revisited the step workout. I think it has been a few years since I did it, and it was fun…once I figured out where to put my feet again.
Thelma, I am so glad the surgery went well, you were able to go home, and that you were pain free last night. Hopefully you are continuing to rest and recover today and, hopefully, you are still pain free.
Laurie, great workout. I was surprised how quickly that chest/tricep workout went once I started it. But that being said, I also made the decision that I will only be doing two weeks of these long workouts. My plan for next week is to start with the body part I did second in the workouts this week, so next week I will be doing triceps into chest. Honestly, I think that is going to be much tougher. And after that, I am going to do a hybrid plan of the 2.0 Total Body and Upper/Lower workouts for 3-4 weeks and then put 2.0 on the shelf for awhile. I am sorry you missed the NASCAR, but I bet it felt good to do some sewing as well. I think I would have opted for the same as my tolerance for crowds lasts for about a day.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, I managed to get 11,000 steps in on Tuesday. I did 3 very low impact, beginner type indoor walking sessions. I feel that I can move better with this surgery than with the hysterectomy, but I think that was because of the hematoma. I'm thankful that I'm not in pain.
We got 4.5" of rain between Monday night and Tuesday morning. We are getting more rain tonight, but nothing like what we got on Monday night. We needed the rain badly!
Laurie, great workout! You still have another day to celebrate your birthday! Being in great physical shape is another reason turning 60 isn't too bad! I'm next!
I still can't get over how well I'm doing post-surgery. Thank God! I am sure that all the exercising I do has helped tremendously in my recovery process.
Laurel, great workout! I think that Party Rockin' Step 1 workout is a good one. I'm glad you enjoyed both workouts!
Thanks so much Laurel. I am still pain free. I am so glad I decided to listen to my body about my level of pain before taking more pain meds. I was trying to remember how the heck I decided that I didn't need pain meds with the hysterectomy. I certainly didn't have the same thought process I had last night. My energy level has been pretty good. The only thing that I've felt is that I am a little unsteady when I stand up. I think it's because my body needs to get rid of all the stuff I was given during surgery. My appetite isn't very good. I've had to force myself to eat.
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
This morning was a Cee Total Body. This one was all standing, so that was a nice change of pace.
Laurel, Nice job with those workouts. I'm going to be doing the P30 flow workout tomorrow, but I'm looking at the Mish Mosh Mobility Basics Core. I have not tried any of the premixes on this DVD, and that one looked interesting. I'm hoping that she mixes the mobility with the core moves. Guess we will see when I put it in tomorrow. So are you doing the upper/lower twice and then one Total Body for those 3-4 weeks? Or doing one week total body and one week upper/lower? I'm with you on the people factor. The Packer game was crowded, and felt like we where shoulder to shoulder.
Thelma, Great job with the walking workouts! Nice that you are feeling so good. That is a lot of rain, we have been getting some much needed rain. Still not at the level that we really need. This morning it was 50 deg. It did feel good, but sure was a shock to walk outside this morning.
Have a great day!
Laurie0 -
Hi Ladies! Today’s workout started with 2.0 Body Part Legs and Shoulders. This was the first 2.0 workout I did once we got the DVDs, and I distinctly remember that the transition from calf raises into overhead presses did not feel good, so this time I stopped after legs and went to the shoulder warm up and did that before moving on with the shoulder workout. That was much better, but given that, the workout was about 85 minutes long. Because they were distinct body parts, I didn’t have any issues with lifting the weight I had been lifting. But I did wonder about half way through whether I wanted to do another week of these super long workouts, but I also know this is just a mental thing for me right now. My body is fine with them. But we’ll see come Monday. Anyhow, I followed it with a fun 20 minute spin just to roll the legs out.
Thelma, great job with the steps. I am glad you are feeling more comfortable after this surgery. Pain medications can make me light headed as well (and upset my stomach) so just take it easy while you are taking them. Wow, you had a lot of rain! We didn’t have that much at all. Will you get remnants of the hurricane there?
Laurie, great workout. I have done that Mobility Basics Core workout, and I really enjoyed it and found it a nice blend of work and recovery. Right now my plan for my final four weeks of 2.0 (after next week is over) is to do two non-consecutive weeks of Total Body Giant Sets (once per week), Upper Body One and Two (non-consecutive of course), and Lower Body 1 OR 2 (in other words, just one lower body workout for those weeks). The other two weeks will feature one of the other two remaining total body workouts, the two lower body workouts and one upper body workout. I decided this because I think doing all four upper and lower and a total body workout would be too much. And since the Giant Sets workout is lower body intensive, two upper body’s should be fine, and the other way around with the other workouts. We’ll see how it goes, but I am looking forward to visiting those workouts again before I shelve them for what will probably be several months.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, I continued with my low impact, steady pace walks. I almost did 13K steps.
I've had a set back with the surgery. I noticed that my belly looked swollen, almost like I had a third boob right below the sternum. I called the doctors' office and sent her some pictures. The doctor's medical assistant had to wait till the doctor finished her surgeries to show her. The doctor says it is normal and that I have to wear a compression band. I feel fine, but I am just not convinced this is normal. I have to wear the band till I see the doctor on 9/14. The compression does feel good. I just hope my skin doesn't get irritated like it did last time. I am wearing a t-shirt under the band.
We got two more inches of rain on Tuesday night. Sadly, the two-week forecast doesn't show any rain for us.
Laurie, great workout! I can't wait to read your review of that Mish Mosh Mobility Basics Core workout! I can just imagine the cold temp was a shock to your body. We are going to have more normal temps going forward. 80's during the day and high 50's to low 60's.
Laurel, great workouts! Good call on doing the shoulder warm up after the leg portion! It definitely doesn't sound like a good transition.
I'm glad you were able to lift the weights you've been lifting. 85 minutes is a long workout, but definitely doable if you have the time.
I am not taking pain meds at all. I simply didn't need them. I think it's because my incisions are small and the surgeries not invasive.
We didn't get any remnants of the hurricane here.
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
This morning I did the P30 Perfect Flow Mish Mosh of Mobility Basic Core. This was a nice way to do it. It had about 15 min. of mobility work, core work and then moved into mobility again. I really do need to do these mobility workouts more often, can see that my body really needs some of the moves.
Should be a quiet weekend for us. My niece has her bridal shower on Saturday, and we really don't have anything going on for the remainder of that time. We had another cold morning, with temps in the high 40's.
Laurel, Great job with the workouts, and glad that your memory helped with incorporating that warm up. I give you kudos for doing those really long workouts. Your next few months with these workouts really do sound like it will be fairly intense if you use the right weight. As I was thinking about how you would incorporate all those workouts, it would have been really overkill to do that many weight workout in a week. Your poor body would really have protested.
Thelma, Good job with the walking. Sorry to hear about the set back. Great idea to put the band over you shirt. That was a lot of rain. We will be having the heat this weekend, so have to enjoy these low temps until that flows through.
Have a great weekend!
Laurie0 -
Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was Kick, Punch and Crunch followed by 2.0 Total Body Stretch. I was a little sore this morning, especially in my legs, but the workout seems to have helped that.
Thelma, great workouts despite your setback. Hopefully the compression band takes care of the issue. I am glad it isn’t causing you any pain, though. We have no rain forecasted either and, boy, could we use it. But at least the temperatures are supposed to stay mainly in the 80s, so the heat isn’t oppressive right now. I am getting eager for autumn, though.
Laurie, great workout. I was going to try to describe it from my memory yesterday and gave up because I wasn’t sure that it was the same workout I did recently. But it was, and, like you, I really enjoyed the order of the moves and how good they made my body feel. I am kind of jealous of your cooler overnight temperatures. Until last night, we have been in the 70s overnight for weeks. Last night it finally got down into the mid-60s. It is the time of year that I want to start opening up windows again, and it is way too early for that here yet. Sounds like a nice, quiet weekend for you. I imagine that is very welcome after a very busy month. Happy Last Day Of Your Birthday Month!!
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, I did my three low impact walking sessions. I feel good except for the fact that I have to wear this compression band. I already have a nice rash going. I don't know how I'm going to last two weeks wearing this thing. I'm wearing two t-shirts under the band, but the skin irritation is already there. Hydrocortisone isn't helping. My friend suggested a diaper rash ointment, so I'll try that. At least the incision is healing nicely.
BR is full of tourists this weekend. I heard it's already crazy around downtown. There are long lines outside restaurants! This is when locals don't leave their houses till the weekend is over.
Laurie, great workout! These are really beneficial workouts.
Hopefully the swelling will go down soon, but it won't happen overnight.
I hope you have a lot of fun at your niece's bridal shower!
Laurel, great workouts! I love that Kick, Punch and Crunch workout!
I hope the band helps with the swelling. I hope it goes down quickly, but it probably will be a slow situation given the rash I have going. Hopefully I can it under control. Thankfully it isn't very itchy.
It seems to me that this summer has been unusually dry because I don't remember going for such long periods without rain. Our temps are going to be in the 80's too.
Have a great holiday weekend!

Morning Ladies,
This morning was Cee Total Body #8. I really enjoyed this one a lot, it had moves that I enjoy. It really does surprise me that I'm sore after these workout, but then again I'm trying to use really heavy weights. Guess I shouldn't be surprised, but the workouts are not over 40 min. I'm feeling my upper back and biceps a lot right now.
I have no idea why I said have a good weekend yesterday, guess I was wanting the weekend to be here yesterday. It has been a crazy week here at work, we had total shutdown and I was busy getting in parts for equipment.
Laurel, Great job with the workouts! This time of the year our evenings are nice and cool, so it really is nice for sleeping. This morning DH was concerned about the condensation on the new windows that we had put in just last week. Of course the condensation was on the outside of the windows, so not worries. Having those windows open is nice to get the fresh air smell in the house. Hope that you are able to get some golfing in this weekend if those temps are not to bad. We are suppose to have really hot temps, I'm sure it is summers last blast before the leaves start to fall.
Thelma, Good job with those walking workouts. I hope the diaper rash ointment helps, because that is what I put on my oldest dd after she came home from after having the baby. Her lower back was covered in a rash. It cleared up that rash really fast. Must help with the friction. I'm sure having all those people around is good for businesses. To bad that people don't want to go anywhere in town during that time.
Now everyone have a great Labor Day Weekend!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was 2.0 Body Part Back and Biceps and Cathe Live Crush It Low Impact. I thought this 2.0 workout was going to be the toughest of the week because of the stress on the forearms, but it wasn’t at all. Don’t get me wrong, it was long and tough, but I didn’t feel it in the forearms. And going from Superman’s into bicep curls actually felt like my muscles had a nice rest, and I was able to go with 40# for all three sets of curls. But I am not going to lie in saying I don’t necessarily recommend these workouts. While it was interesting to challenge myself for these long workouts, I honestly don’t think there is any benefit to doing them this way that isn’t the same benefit as doing them as one body parts. I am toying with doing the Mishmosh premixes next week, which are all much shorter, just to see how those are since Cathe recommends those premixes in her 10 week rotation. But I will make that decision when I push play on Monday.
Thelma, great job with your workouts. I am glad the incision is healing. But the rash doesn’t sound good. I hope the diaper rash cream helps. At least you said it doesn’t itch.. I just got over a case of poison sumac, and I thought I was going to go insane it itched so much. So no itching is definitely a positive. I am sorry about all of the tourists. I remember from Florida what a pain those weekends were. Suffice it to say, we don’t get tourists in Huntsville.
Laurie, great workout. Sounds like she is hitting your body in different ways which is fantastic. I understand thinking yesterday was Friday. I was like that all day long yesterday too. DH is gone over the weekend, so no golf for us sadly. I am trying to decide which closets to clean out, which doesn’t sound nearly as fun as plying golf.
Enjoy the long weekend!
Laurel0 -
Hi Ladies, I hope you had a nice long weekend. We had a nice weekend and Monday was super busy for me with house cleaning, cooking and working out. Surprisingly I was full of energy! I am feeling great and finally got rid of the rash!
My workouts were as follows:
Friday and Saturday: 3 walking sessions each day.
Sunday: 2 walking sessions and Tracy Steen High Rep Strength Workout.
Monday: 2 walking sessions and Tracy Steen Quads & Hamstrings and Active Rest.
I am doing Tracy's beginner's workouts, and they feel great. I am using light weights and I'm still getting the benefits of the workouts. The leg workout was awesome. I would love to do it with heavier weights someday. I will keep doing Tracy's workouts till the doctor gives me the go ahead to lift heavier. The discharge papers said that I could lift nothing heavier than 20#, which I think is too heavy. The heaviest weight I've used is a 10# dumbbell for sumo squats and one-legged deadlifts. I love Tracy's workouts!
Laurie, great workout! Awesome job keeping it heavy too! Did you do Caroline's Iron series? I'm following the FB Iron group and some of them look pretty chiseled. Others who've never exercised before are starting with Iron and I think that is insane.
The diaper rash ointment helped a lot but by Saturday night I realize that the ointment was preventing the rash from drying out and went back to hydrocortisone.
Laurel, great workouts! Congratulations on finishing a week of those long and tough workouts! I'm so glad you don't think there's any benefit to doing those workouts. You really should do the mishmosh premixes next week to see how they feel.
I'm sorry you got poison sumac! I was really lucky the rash didn't itch. We really don't care about the town being full of tourists because we really don't go out during the weekend.
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
Had a very nice weekend. The bridal shower was very nice, and then youngest dd and I met DH at his uncles condo to start sorting some of his items. DD wanted to see if there was anything that she could use. On Sunday we went to our oldest for a party, and yesterday was decompression day. We did go to the grocery store, but that was about it. It was really hot yesterday, the wind wasn't blowing like on Sunday. Hopefully this hot weather will get out soon.
My workouts where RAW Heavy Bag 1 on Saturday, no workout on Sunday, Monday was RAW Back and Abs Finisher and this morning was RAW Shoulders.
Laurel, Great work on trying out those longer STS workouts. I'm kind of hoping that you are deciding to try out those Mish Moshes, just so I get an idea of what they are like. DH and I really do need to go through our closets. DH was getting a shirt out of the closet and the railing came down. He indicated that he may have to many shirts. He only wears shirts to church, for the most part he is wearing t-shirts everyday. It probably is about time to start rotating from summer to fall/winter anyway.
Thelma, Nice that you have found workouts that you enjoy with Tracy. So glad to hear that you are feeling better, and that the rash has been help with the hydrocortisone. I have done a few of the Iron workouts, but not the whole rotation. It is one that I have contemplated doing, it reminds me a lot of the STS 2.0 workouts in that they are all strength. She doesn't have the HiiT workout in it like the other series do. I'm going to do these RAW workouts for the next three weeks, and then move onto something else. Thinking of the P30 workouts after that. Just want some variety.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! I hope you enjoyed the weekend. Mine was part good, part frustrating. The frustrating part comes because this is one of those times when DH is gone that everything has decided to break. But I fix what I can, do without what I can’t fix but he can, and shop for what is unfixable. So far, the only unfixable is the oven. I cleaned it on Saturday, and something went way wrong in the cooling down period….so wrong that I have to keep the circuit breaker off because the noise it is making is constant and annoying. And it isn’t the fan making the noise. I think something happened in the control panel. But, for now, I am without an oven until we decide what to replace it with. Anyhow, after spending all day Saturday cleaning out closets and ending the day with the oven dying, I took it much easier Sunday and yesterday with just some yard chores both days.
For workouts, on Saturday I did a recovery spin and 60 minutes of Peloton yoga. Sunday was Cathe Live Love Me Some Cardio Kickboxing and Lean Legs and Abs. Monday was 2.0 Body Part Triceps and Chest and a 30 minute spin. I previewed the MishMosh Tricep and Chest workout and, while it looks good, I just wasn’t ready to pull back that much on the intensity yet. But the workout is 41 minutes long and starts with the Tricep warm up and the three sets of lying overhead presses. Then it goes to the Chest workout and does the incline bench work. After the press portion of that work (IIRC) it goes back to triceps for kickbacks (?), then back to Chest for incline flies. Then it does band work from both workouts. So it looks good, but I would put the actual weight workout (no bands, no warm up or stretch) at about 25 minutes, and it still had the full rests. So I think they would be perfect workouts for hitting the muscles heavy in a short amount of time, but, for me, I just felt like I wanted more this week, so I went with that. But I want to try to put these MishMosh workouts into some rotation in the future for sure. Anyhow, doing the Tricep into Chest body part workout was harder that way (as I suspected it would be), and I was having to drop the weight a bit at the end of the chest work because of my fried triceps.
Today’s workout was Low Max, which I haven’t done in forever. I followed it with 20 minutes of Peloton Pilates and mowing the lawn. I was so happy at the end of mowing that nothing had broken, came inside to get some ice water…..and our ice machine was not working. Again. Only time will tell if I managed to fix it, but I tried. I think I may sit quietly in a room with nothing but a paperback book for the rest of the day. A book can’t break. I hope.
Thelma, great workouts! I am so glad you are feeling better and that your rash is gone. I think it is very wise of you to stay on the lighter side with the weights for right now. I am glad you are enjoying the Tracy workouts.
Laurie, sounds like a nice weekend. I am glad you got a chance to decompress yesterday. Great workouts. I love the sound of your plan going forward. I think you will like these 2.0 MishMosh workouts. I think the way Cathe has them laid out in the 10 week rotation is perfect based on what I saw. I may try them when DH and I get back from our trip next month as I try to ramp my strength back up from a couple of weeks off.
See you tomorrow.
Laurel0 -
Hi Ladies, my workouts on Wednesday were two walking sessions and Tracy Steen Upper Body Strength. Tracy had 4 circuits of three exercises ea. repeated three times ea. Another good workout and I was amazed that my triceps and biceps were on fire. I was using 8.75# dumbbells too! It made me wonder how on earth I had been lifting much heavier weights with Cathe's workouts. I hope I've not lost all my strength in one week! The reps were done slow on both concentric, eccentric and holding for a second or two at the top. The workout included abs, which were doable for me right now.
My new ab binder came, and it fit perfect, but I was itching within minutes of wearing over my t-shirt. I think it is because my skin hasn't fully healed from the rash. I do need to get a weightlifting belt. These elastic things are obviously not going to work for me.
I've been sleeping very well the last few nights and that will explain my newfound energy. I feel great and I can't believe I had surgery last week. I am still loving the macro diet and between that, and my workouts my body is definitely getting smaller.
We had a very cloudy day. I was hoping it would rain, but it didn't rain. It doesn't look like our chances are very good at all for the next 10 days. At least the temps are in the mid to high 80's and the humidity is not as high as it was in previous weeks.
Laurie, I'm so glad your niece's bridal shower was nice. Is your youngest still house hunting? I love how close your girls are to you and your DH! That's so special!
Great workouts!
I need to go through our closets too. I don't even know why I hang on to clothes that I will never wear here. I will never forget what a lady told me when we first moved here about the type of clothing I'd need here. She said all you need are jeans and t-shirts and she was absolutely correct. I mostly need workout clothes! LOL
I can't believe how much I enjoy Tracy's workouts. I think I would love to do a Caroline rotation one day. I hear her Iron 2.0 program is very good. The P30 workouts are great. Good choice after all the heavy lifting we've been doing!
Laurel, I'm sorry you had house problems over the weekend! It definitely sounds like it's time for a new stove. DH is Mr. Fix It around here. I wouldn't know what to do if something broke around here.
I knew you would continue with those split set single body part workouts. Good job! Thanks for previewing the MishMosh Tricept and Chest workout. It sounds like my kind of workout! Effective and not too long! The MishMosh workouts sound like a perfect addition to any rotation. Great workouts!
OMG I can't believe your ice maker machine broke again! I'm sorry all those things have gone wrong while your DH is away!
I am being very good about not doing anything stupid while I recover even though I feel like I could workout all day long.
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
This morning's workout was RAW Chest + STS 2.0 Mobility 2.
Laurel, Oh my on the items that decided not to work. I was without an oven for a bit when we got our new one. I hope that you don't need to purchase a new one. The worst thing that broke for you was the ice machine, don't know what I would do without having ice. That is a staple in my water. Awesome job with the workouts, really do love the sound of the kickboxing one. Thank you so much for the information on the Mish Mosh. Gives me some idea what they are like, and I do like the sound of it. I was going to go from the 12 week rotation right into the 10 week, but just had to put those DVD's aside for a bit. Those total body workouts where tough, so I have to psych myself up to do three weeks of those.
Thelma, Great job with the workouts! It always amazes me how one workout can be so different in the weight needed than another. For me it is how fast the lifting is, and of course the weight. I love pushing myself now that we have done these STS 2 workouts. I was pretty proud of myself for lifting as heavy as Kelly did in these RAW workouts that I've been doing. Sorry to hear that your new band started to make you itch. Yep the youngest is still house hunting, and right now she is looking at condos. She broke up with her boyfriend, so doesn't need a house. It has been a bit different having her home, but now we have a built in dog sitter.
Have a great day!
Laurie0 -
Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was 2.0 Body Part Shoulders and Legs and a 30 minute spin. I was able to maintain my weight throughout the shoulder and legs workout, and had no issues transitioning from shoulders into legs. But I did use the last few breaks in the shoulders workout to do some squats and lunges to make sure everything was warmed up.
Thelma, great workouts. I am happy you are feeling so well. It sounds like good sleep and diet are the key. It is so dry here too. I was surprised to wake up to the threat of storms today as we get a cold front through, but it looks like it will just be wind and no rain. When I was mowing yesterday, I couldn’t believe how dry everything is. Not good.
Laurie, great workout. Sounds like a fantastic combo to be honest. I managed to fix the ice machine! I can’t even remember all of the things that have broken in the last ten days, but when I told DH I came in from mowing to find a broken ice machine, he just started laughing. So far I see the humor in it as well….except for the oven. I know it will need to be replaced, and I think we will be without for a few weeks given how few items are kept in stock anymore. Of course, now I want to eat nothing but something I can put in the oven.
See you tomorrow.
Laurel0 -
Hi Ladies, my workouts on Wednesday were two walking sessions and Tracy Steen Low Impact Cardio and Standing Abs. Tracy's workout was a low impact interval kickboxing workout. She normally uses 2# dumbbells for punches in her beginner workouts. She used 5# dumbbells and they were used for 75% of the 35 minute workout. 5# dumbbells never felt so heavy, but I was able to do it. The workout was kind of an upper body workout too because she did all kinds of shoulder exercises. There were punches, lunges, squats, kicks, calves and of course abs. I loved it and my abs got a good workout. My after dinner walks now include walking backwards up and down a steep driveway. I also like to go downhill in a squat position because it gets my quads. The backwards walking up hill is great for the tibialis. My arms are moving during all that too. I feel that my legs are getting a great workout.
Another cloudy day and no rain. I don't even know how our grass is so green. It must be drought tolerant.
Laurie, great workouts! Awesome job lifting as heavy as Kelly did in the RAW workouts! You really should be proud of that accomplishment! I'm very proud of you! These STS 2.0 workouts have been great.
I'm sorry your youngest broke up with her boyfriend. Thank goodness she didn't buy a house before the break up! I'm sure it's been different for all of you having her living with you again. The built-in dog sitter deal is a pretty good one!
Laurel, awesome workouts and great job maintaining your weight throughout the shoulder and legs workout! Great idea to use the shoulder workout breaks to warm up for the leg workout!
Good sleep and diet are really key to feeling well. We didn't get that cold front you got. There was no wind here. The sky was dark, but the rain never came. Like I mentioned above, I have no idea how our grass is so green.
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
This morning's workout was RAW Arms. Really loved this one, and I was matching Kelly's weights.
Laurel, Awesome job with the workouts! Glad to hear that the transition from shoulders to legs worked with a little warm up. Nice that the ice machine is fixed, but dang on the stove. We had to wait 3 weeks for our stove, and that was an in stock item. Have to wonder if that was in stock in another country. We purchased an LG with a gas top and dual electric ovens. I absolutely love it.
Thelma, Great job with the workout and walking. I love that you are using your driveway for your workouts also. Next you will be telling us that you where doing walking lunges up your driveway. 5lbs is a heavy weight for punching, so great job. I'm also very glad that they didn't buy a house. She was the one that would have been buying it, but it still would have been a mess.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was LITE Rev’d Up Rumble with the Calorie Crush, Abs #1, and the extended stretch. This was such a perfect workout for today. I had no energy going into it and feel lots of energy now.
Thelma, great workouts. I love how you are using your driveway to work your legs. That’s fantastic. And I agree with Laurie…5# is a lot for punching. Great job. We had lots of lightening last night, but not much wind and no rain. I was so hoping for rain. Our grass is very brown, so I am glad yours has stayed green. At least it is a little cooler today, but with temperatures still in the mid-80s, the grass will continue to die. I water it, but it really needs rain.
Laurie, great workout. Sounds like you are feeling strong right now. Love that. DH called me yesterday afternoon, which always concerns me when he is supposed to be at work four states away. Anyhow, he and his co-worker had to go to Lowe’s yesterday to get some things for their work project, and he called me up to let me know that he found an oven and it was the last day of a sale which took 1/3 off the price. This is not what I expected to hear from him when I picked up the phone. So we ordered an oven just like the one we have but a couple of models nicer which will be delivered in the 16th. Our oven is an in-the-wall oven, and we went with the same brand because we know it will fit in the space, and it matches the microwave which is right above it. So it won’t be too long, thankfully. But that isn’t how I expected to buy a new oven.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Thursday were two walking sessions and Tracy Steen Inner and Outer Thigh workout with active rest. This workout was brutal. It wasn't a beginner's workout and it left me spent. I used a 15# dumbbell for most of the exercises. My inner thighs were on fire.
Tracy did inner thigh leg kicks on the floor, and I took a 4lb kettlebell and threaded my foot through the handle for a nice challenge.
Laurie, great workout and great job for matching Kelly's weights!
I sometimes do walking lunges when I'm outside, but only on flat terrain.
It definitely would've been a messy situation if your dd had bought the house while dating her former BF.
Laurel, fantastic workout combo!
We got a lightning in the area warning, but we never saw them. We got a 2 second passing shower though!
I can't believe your DH bought your new oven while away for work! I hope you love it!
Have a great weekend!

Morning Ladies,
This morning was RAW Lower Body (Pyramids). Great way to end the week.
Our weekend will be filled with car show stuff. We are going to Illinois for our annual Quad State meet. Should be a fun way to end the car season. We will be taking our new 1990 Toronado Trofeo. Since the engine on the 442 is burning oil, it isn't a good idea to be driving that for a long distance. So I'm taking a half day of vacation today.
Laurel, Awesome line up of workouts! That's probably why you ended with so much more energy. That is so cool that your DH found the oven and you where able to get it ordered. You do need to take advantage of those sales when they are available. So happy that you it will not take that long to get either.
Thelma, Fantastic job with those workout, and using the extra kb for weights. Since you are challenging yourself so much with these Tracey workouts, then you may need to do those walking lunges up hill. Kidding, but at some point you may need to try that out.
Have a great weekend!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was 2.0 Body Parts Biceps and Back followed by a 30 minute spin. I actually enjoyed the 2.0 workout today. I think doing the bicep work first made the back work feel more effective. That being said, after six straight weeks of 2.0 Body Part workouts, I am ready to zip them back into the case for awhile. I’m going to start the final four weeks of my 2.0 rotation on Sunday with a total body workout. I have a feeling that is going to feel brutal.
Thelma, great workouts. I love the idea of using a small kettlebell that way. I bet it was very effective.
Laurie, great workout. I hope you have a great time this weekend. The one thing I am most interested in with this new oven is it apparently has an air fry option. I am curious how that will work. If it works well, I think I will love it.
Enjoy the weekend!

Hi Ladies, I hope you had a great weekend. We had a really busy weekend. We did some container gardening and cleaned up the deck on Saturday. I got my mums all over the place! Love them!
We got a really bad thunderstorm on Saturday, which gave us almost 2/10" of rain. Not much rain but lots of scary thunder and lightning. We lost our internet service for about 5 hours.
I decided to do a Caroline Girvan rotation! The EPIC I rotation is a 10-week rotation which would end the week of 11/12. Laurel, this means I would not be able to start our winter rotation until the week of 11/19. I know we had planned on starting the new rotation on 11/5. Let me know if you can wait till 11/19 to start or if you want to go as planned with the 11/5 start date. I'll understand if you want to get started on time. I could've sworn the rotation I'd picked was a 6 week one, but it turned out to be 10 weeks.
My workouts this weekend were:
Friday: Walking X2 and Tracy Steen Sexy Arms Fast Blast.
Saturday: Walking X2 and Perfect 30 - Perfect Flow: Mobility Basics.
Sunday: Walking X2 and Caroline Girvan Epic I - Day 1 Lower Body.
I was surprised that I wasn't bothered by the fact that Caroline doesn't speak during the workout. The workout was pretty challenging, and I loved it! Caroline used one pair 27.5# ea. dumbbells for the entire workout. I used 12.5, 15 and 20#. Caroline kicked my butt! I literally dragged my body up the stairs afterwards. I had to do a long stretching and massage routine. I think I feel better after the surgery than I did before the surgery. It's weird but I feel great. I wonder if it's because my body had a chance to rest.
This is the rotation's format.
MIN PER SESSION (approx): 40-60 minutes
SPLIT PER WEEK: 3 x various muscle group sessions, 1 x 60 minute full body, 1 x 30 minute HIIT.
BODYWEIGHT / WEIGHTED RESISTANCE: Combination of dumbbells & bodyweight
WORKOUTS PER WEEK: 5
DURATION OF PROGRAM: Ten weeks
FOCUS: Overall improvements in strength, mobility, endurance, coordination, and faster twitch muscle recruitment. Bodyweight exercises in particular are deceivingly challenging!
HIIT? Every 5th workout is HIIT.
Laurie, great workout!
I hope you and your DH had a fantastic weekend at the annual Quad State meet!
I haven't tried the walking lunges up hill, but that is a great idea! I will definitely have to give them a try!
Laurel, great workouts! I'm glad you did biceps before the back work! You are doing 4 more weeks o 2.0? Are you going back to the beginning with total body workouts?
Have a great week!

Morning Ladies,
We had a great time at the car show, and the weather was perfect. Temps in the 70's and sunshine. Today we are having rain, so it all workout out. The new Trofeo is a really nice car to be in, and DH seems to enjoy driving it. He doesn't get tired and fidget like other drives we have been on.
I'm changing things up a little bit with my workouts week, just didn't feel like I was getting enough cardio. No workouts on Saturday or Sunday, but this morning was RAW Boxing and Legs 2. Of course I really love my boxing, so it isn't a surprise that I added it in.
Laurel, Great job with your workouts. Doing those total body workouts is going to be tough, but I'm sure that you will do a great job. Will be curious how much more you are able to lift after doing all the 2.0 workouts. Nice that your stove has the air fryer. Let us know how that workouts! Mine has the convection oven, so from what I understand that works a lot like the air fryer.
Thelma, Nice job with those workouts! Hope that you enjoy those Caroline workouts, they can get pretty tough. Overall they are doable. Your weekend really does sound productive. The mums this year really are beautiful. We bought some, just need to get them in the planters.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies, I hope you enjoyed the weekend. Ours was nice. DH got home on Saturday afternoon, and so we spent most of the afternoon taking a long walk. We got a little rain in the evening, but not the storms Thelma got. Yesterday was some errands and another long walk. For workouts on Saturday I did a 15 minute spin and 45 minutes of yoga. Yesterday was 2.0 Super Sets Total Body and Perfect 30 Mishmosh premix that was 1/2 LI HiiT, 1/2 HI HiiT, the bonus pyramid HiiT and Extended stretch. I love this premix because in 45 minutes, there are so many changes it is impossible to get bored. The 2.0 workout wasn’t too bad, but I did feel my forearms more with those longer stretches between breaks. But I comfortably matched or exceeded Cathe’s weight throughout which was nice. Today’s workout was a 60 minute spin and 40 minutes of Peloton yoga.
Thelma, great workouts. Looks like a fantastic rotation! I have no problem at all waiting for you on our rotation if you still want to do it. Just keep me posted. Those lightening storms can get scary, especially given how dry everything is right now.
Laurie, I am glad you enjoyed the weekend and that the car is a good one. Great workout. I bet the boxing felt good. I will let you know about the oven. We have a convection oven as well, and this new one has a convection and the air fryer which tells me there is something different. What that could be…..no clue. Looks like I might need to read the manual on this one.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Monday were Walking X2 and Caroline Girvan Epic I - Day 2 Upper Body. Caroline did every pushup type known to men in this workout! I did the best I could and mostly on my knees. I did great with the weights though. I did the bicep and back work with a pair of 16# dumbbells. Caroline does one HIIT workout per week and there's one workout called Burpee HIIT. I will be doing a Tracy Steen HIIT workout that day!
We got 3/10" of rain this afternoon. It rained pretty hard for a while! Thank God for the rain. We may get more rain on Tuesday afternoon.
Laurie, I'm so glad you and your DH had such a great weekend!
Good job changing the workouts around in order to do more cardio! Sounds like you chose a really good one!
I am enjoying Caroline's workouts a lot. She is a tough cookie!
Laurel, I'm glad your DH made it back home safely. I hope you got some rain on Monday.
Great workouts! I'm glad the 2.0 total body workout wasn't too bad! Awesome job matching or exceeding Cathe's weight!
I still want to do our rotation. Thanks so much for willing to wait for me to get the rotation started. Since I started following Caroline's IRON FB group, I've been very tempted to try that Iron program, but since it's a lot like STS 2.0, I decided to try something totally different.
I think the hummingbirds decided to leave early this morning. They were still here on Sunday. There was no action at the feeders until the end of the day today when I saw one hummingbird.
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
Chilly this morning, sure do like this fall weather for humidity. My workout was 30MTF Power Splits Upper Body + Egg Weights Finisher.
Laurel, Awesome job with the workouts! Well that one question was answered on your being able to lift heavier this time around. That is so great to hear. Those total body really do require more work on the forearms, and of course my hands needed the rest time. I'm sure that walk with your DH was full of talking also. He was gone for quite a while.
Thelma, Great job with that workout! I did do that workout, and remember the push ups. I also did a majority of them on my knees or modified enough. Did you try out the band like in Cathe's workouts? I don't blame you for opting not to do that burpee hiit workout, I'm sure that Tracy will be just as effective.
Have a great day!
