Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was 2.0 Lower Body 2, which I really enjoyed today. I followed it with Cathe Live In The Ring and 5 minutes of Peloton core work.
Thelma, great workout! I don’t blame you on not wanting to do the burpee HiiT. I would be looking forward to a substitution as well. Yay for still wanting to do the one body part rotation. We will aim for mid-November as a start, and that can be modified if need be. I forgot to answer your question about what workouts I am doing. I am going to do one 2.0 Total Body workout followed by some order of the upper/lower workouts each week for about four weeks. I just wanted to revisit all of the non body part 2.0 workouts one more time before taking a break. Lucky you getting rain. We barely got a cloud passing over yesterday. We are still enjoying hummingbirds here, but the way they are fighting tells me they won’t be here much longer. We are enjoying their entertainment right now, though.
Laurie, great workout! I must admit to wishing we were having some signs of autumn weather here right now. I have guys here refinishing our front door today which means the front door has been open for a few hours now. And the house is getting hot and humid. I would really like some fresh autumn air right now. Yes, DH and I did a lot of talking this weekend. We completely changed the trip we had planned for next month (a trip we had booked since December), but given his travel schedule, falling trees, bad front door, dying ovens, we both thought maybe scaling back on days and cost would be good. So we did, and I am very happy about it.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Tuesday were Walking X2 and Caroline Girvan Epic I - Day 3 Abs & Core. The ab workout was advanced for me for a good part of the workout, so I modified. It's unfortunate because I don't feel like I had a killer ab workout. I do have DOMS from the leg and upper body workout though. Tomorrow is rest day. Yaaay! Three workouts down, 47 more to go! OUCH! I'm scared! There's one lower body workout that has Bulgarian Lunges in the title.
We got a little more rain today. It was kind of a measurable amount. The rain gauge had about 1/20" of rain. It was good enough to get things wet. Our next chance of rain is on Saturday. The evenings are feeling a little chilly now. The trees are also starting to drop their dry leaves.
My hydrangeas never bloomed. Someone told me that it was due to the cold weather we had, but just in the last two week baby buds have started to develop.
I don't know if you noticed but Cathe is going to release 4 new workouts in December. It's not a program though. One is barbell workout, the other is called Killer Legs, there's a kickboxing one and a spinning one too. I am not sure I'm going to buy these DVDs.
Laurie, great workout!
I didn't try the fabric resistance band for the pushups. I thought about it, but I was too tired to even try a full pushup! Even though I did them on my knees I am feeling all those pushups! I did try doing some uphill lunges the other day. It would be a lower glute workout.
Laurel, great workouts!!
Starting the next rotation in mid-November sounds wonderful! Thank you! Thanks for explaining what you'll be doing for workouts. I thought you were going back to doing full body workouts for a month!
Our one hummingbird has no competition at the feeders. He spends long periods of time perched at the feeder.
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
This morning's workout was RAW 4 Day Split Hips Glutes Abs. Whenever I can I'm using the information from 2.0 in all my other workouts. Glutes are on fire!
The new workouts look good. I know for sure that the spinning one will not be in my cart, but I will have to take a closer look at the other three. I'm probably going to get the kickboxing, but will be doing low impact. No jumping for this girl, or at least not a lot.
We are going out with our friends tonight for dinner. The couple that moved to FL will be in the area, so everyone is getting together. It should be a fun night of talking.
Laurel, Nice workouts! It's funny how I really love seeing autumn arriving, but that means that the snow isn't to far away. This year has gone by so fast. To bad that you had to cut back on your vacation plans, but if you are going to enjoy it more by doing that, then you both made a great decision. Sometimes those long vacations can really put a lot more stress on you than you realize.
Thelma, Great job with the workouts! Hopefully you feel the effects of the workout the next day. Sounds like a few of those lunges once in a while would be a benefit. Our driveway had an incline to it. Probably nothing like your driveway. I should take that information and use it for my benefit. We had some rain yesterday also. Ours was pretty intense for a while.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was 2.0 Upper Body 1, Mini Ball Abs and a 30 minute spin. Doing this upper body workout reminded me how much I love this workout. And, man, I felt so strong on it. I met or exceeded Cathe’s weight throughout, and that includes the Arnold presses! There is no question that doing those body part workouts for six weeks has made me considerably stronger. I admit to be a little dubious about those workouts going into them, but no longer. I am as strong as I have been in years, and I am saying that after two rotations of STS 1.0 preceding this. It feels so good.
I pre-ordered all of the new workouts. After 25+ years of working out with Cathe, it is almost a reflex to hit ‘purchase’. But, truthfully, I am really looking forward to the kickboxing and leg workouts, interested in the total body and know I will want the spin workout when/if Peloton goes under. So into the cart they went…..
Thelma, great workouts. Sounds like there is a ton of variety in this rotation you are doing. I will come up with an outline for our rotation closer to November, but I am really looking forward to it. We are still so dry. Please send us some rain because we have none in our forecast. We have three little hummingbirds still fighting over our feeders. I will miss them when they are gone.
Laurie, great workout. I love that you are referring to your 2.0 weights when doing these different workouts. I need to do the same thing when I move on. I have a tendency to get lazy doing other programs for sure, but I really don’t want to lose this strength. You nailed it on the head with the vacation stress. Two weeks becomes difficult when talking about things like plants and watering. I hope you have a good time tonight.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Wednesday were Gentle Flow Yoga, Gina B. Low Impact Cardio and Walking X2. Today was a rest day so everything I did was light. It was my first time back to yoga since my surgery and it felt great. The instructor did a lot of shoulder openers which was great because my shoulders needed it after all the pushups I did the other day. I saw a friend I hadn't seen in a couple of months at the yoga studio today and she said that I looked very fit! I almost fainted! I don't think anyone has ever said that to me. Needless to say, it felt great!
I ordered Cathe's DVD because you ladies ordered them and of course I don't want to be without them now! LOL. I wish Cathe would come up with longer mobility and stretching workouts though.
I'm seeing the surgeon in the morning for my two week follow up.
I forgot to tell you that I ordered a couple of weightlifting belts, just to see if I like any of them.
Laurie, that RAW workout sounds like a really good one! Good job incorporating the knowledge you gained with 2.0 in that workout!
Sounds like a fun night with good friends!
I did feel the ab workout a little bit. It was actually a really good workout and the longest ab workout I've done in years! Total Body on Thursday! I wouldn't be able to do these workouts if I hadn't been doing 2.0 though. Glad you got some rain!
Laurel, great workouts! Wow! You really have gotten strong!! Congratulations! I think the single body part workouts are my favorite workouts.
I can't imagine that Peloton would go under any time soon. They need to regroup though. They grew too fast during the pandemic. I imagine a lot of people use their subscription service.
There is a lot of variety in Caroline's rotation. I had to type in the calendar into Excel because her PDF version had a black background and tiny white font, and I just couldn't read it. None of the workouts were repeated in the rotation. That's serious content and it's free!
We're going to have to incorporate these new workouts into the rotation! I know we'll have a great time with this rotation. I actually saw two hummingbirds fighting for the feeders today but the second one flew away. There's still the one that's using the feeder as a perch now for long periods of time.
I'm sorry you decided to change your vacation, but I understand the need to scale costs back. The important thing is that you spend time together! Where will you be going to?
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
We had a wonderful time with our friends, and have plans to do a vacation by the beach with everyone some time in the early part of next year. We all came back to our house, because the restaurant was close to our place. We continued to chat and laugh.
This morning my workout was RAW Cardio Overload 2. I enjoy doing workouts that incorporate the weighted vest, and low impact.
Laurel, Again excellent job with the workouts, and increasing those weights. I know that I will be up for another rotation of the STS 2.0 in the near future. I like that these workouts have already been filmed, so that would mean this pre-sale will probably not last to long. I'm wondering if she will have what type of premixes these workouts will have. I'm guessing that the total body will be a long workout.
Thelma, Nice job on those workouts! I'm with you on more mobility workouts, that is something that I'm finding very useful as I get older. I think if you go on the community group for Caroline, they do have worksheets for weights and rotations. It's called Caroline Girvan's Community.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was 2.0 Lower Body 1 and Rockout Knockout. The lower body workout felt good and I felt strong on it despite the fact this was my third workout since Sunday that included heavy lifting on the legs. The only exercise I was under Cathe’s weight on was the Hip Thrust (I used 65# instead of 75#), and I probably could have gone heavier than I did in a couple of categories. But I might be happy I didn’t when I try to get out of bed tomorrow.
Thelma, great workouts. I hope all goes well with your check up. What a nice compliment to get from your friend! I have no doubt you look very fit given how hard you work. I was already thinking about subbing in the new leg workout in our rotation if we get it in time. I have a feeling it might be perfect for our Ramped Up with Upper Body section. I forgot to thank you for mentioning your hydrangeas yesterday. Ours never bloomed either, but I have seen a few in the neighborhood that did and was wondering if maybe we did something wrong. But since you mentioned so many people there didn’t either, I am thinking the ones that bloomed here just got more sun OR were protected a bit from that December weather. We are going to Montreal and then over to Nova Scotia from there. I planned a trip up there a couple of years ago that we never got to take, so this was an easy trip to plan on short notice. I know you have been up there, so if you have any thoughts, let me know. We were originally going to go back to Europe, but this is going to be much better for us at this time. And it is all brand new territory for us, whereas our trip back to Europe was mostly to places we have been. So I’m happy.
Laurie, great workout. I am so glad you had a good time with your friends. A beach holiday is always wonderful, but in the middle your winter, it will be perfect. How fun that will be with good friends. I am so enjoying this revisit to the 2.0 non body part workouts right now and am already thinking that I want to return to them after Thelma and I finish our next rotation. They are just such good workouts. Cathe mentioned bonus material in her write-up on the workouts, so there will be premixes. I was also encouraged when she was talking about the kickboxing workout, she mentioned the word ‘jump’, then said something like ‘if you want’, so I am hoping there are low impact options. Anyhow, since she mentioned bonus material so much, I am hoping that means the workout without the bonus falls into that 30-45 minute range. That may not be possible for a total body workout, but I think is likely with the leg and kickboxing workouts. Hopefully we’ll get some more details soon.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Thursday were Walking X2 and Caroline Girvan Epic I - Day 4 Full Body - Core focused. Day 4 was brutal. It was full of compound moves, which I wasn't crazy about because I can't lift heavy for shoulders. She had an exercise called The Maker after each lower body exercise. This thing is probably called the Maker because you feel like you're going to see your maker! it is definitely an advanced move for me.
https://youtu.be/2-6EPLtSLwU
She had pushups after each exercise in another section and windmills holding a dumbbell. There also standing pigeon squats while holding dumbbells in each hand. These ones were hard for me. Needless to say, it was a sweatfest.
The surgeon's visit went well. She said I've healed nicely. I asked her why the incision area felt really hard. She explained that it's the body healing and the process is called Healing Ridge and I think it is hernia specific.
She told me that I have 3 layers of dissolvable stitches. She gave the dissolvable type because "I'm skinny" and I would've always felt the permanent stitches. I guess they would've pinched me inside. Yikes! The internal stitches are the type that take months to dissolve to make sure everything heals. I had to laugh at the skinny part.
The doctor told me that I could start lifting 5# weights and in my mind, I'm going OOPS! I told her that I'd been lifting 5# the week before. I didn't tell her I was up to 16# on squats! I even lifted a 20# dumbbell! Anyway, the doctor said I could graduate to 10#, then in a couple of days 12, and so on. I am going to have to stick with 20# as my heavier weights for a few weeks to be safe.
I tried one of the weightlifting belts. It felt good but I could feel the irritation happening on my skin. This may not work for me.
Laurie, I'm sooo glad you had a great time with your friends! A beach vacation with good friends sounds like fun!
Great workout!
I did a quick search on Caroline's community but the only thing that came up was a FB page. I've not joined that group, so I don't know if the worksheets are there. There's also something on Reddit that I'll have to explore later.
Laurel, fantastic workout combo and great job keeping up with Cathe's weights! That's amazing!
Thanks Laurel. I don't see my body as being fit, but I do feel fit and I can see my body changing for the first time in years. STS 2.0 has really been great for me, well for all of us!
I am so glad you were already thinking of incorporating the new leg workout into the next rotation. I can't wait for this rotation. I will be a lot of fun and I just know (because we always do) we will figure out a way to extend the rotation! LOL
A friend told me that hydrangeas hadn't bloomed because of the freezing temps we had, BUT she had blooming hydrangeas in the front of the house! I think you're right that the blooming ones are getting more sun. Mine is just starting to develop little buds.
You are going to love Nova Scotia. Cape Breton Island is great. Anywhere near the water is just amazing. It is very windy. I just searched my emails, and we stayed in Neil's Harbour in Cape Breton Island. This is a tiny place, but we found a lovely cottage and we stayed there. We stayed at the Shoal Point Cottage.
https://backcovecottages.com/our-cottages/
Last time we were there was in June of 2017! Wow!
Make sure you have plenty of water and snacks with you because you may not find a place to buy anything for long distances.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Morning Ladies,
This morning's workout was RAW Circuit Training. This week has been fun mixing boxing with weights. I think that I was able to use heavier light weights than the last time I did this workout. I should start writing this kind of information down. But on light weight workouts, I usually don't think about it.
We are watching the grandson this weekend. Mom and Dad are going to a wedding in MN.
Laurel, Great job on the workout, and getting in three lower body workouts in a week. Sounds like a great trip that you have planned. Just getting away and seeing other places is always something to look forward to. Cathe had a post yesterday on the total body workout. She said that you could use the workout with a light weight barbell, or go heavy. I'm guessing that your rep speed would be slower if you opted for the heavier weight. Overall it sounds like it will be a versatile workout. Sounds like the bonus on the total body is leg exercises.
Thelma, Glad to hear that you appointment went well. Ooops is right. If the doctor said your skinny then you are skinny. Awesome job getting through that workout. I do remember those Makers. I think one of her HiiT workouts in that rotation is an all maker workout. Yes that community is her facebook page. They have a lot of information in there files section.
Have a great weekend,
Laurie0 -
Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a fun 45 minute spin and Cathe Live Strong and Fit: Core and Basic Stretch. Over the last month, Cathe has done a series during her Live workouts called Strong and Fit which look to be split session strength workouts focused on heavier weights. I didn’t do the first three because of doing 2.0, but gave the one from yesterday a try today and it was fantastic. It was 45 minutes long and half Core and half stretch. The core work wasn’t too tough, but I think I will feel some of the moves tomorrow. And the stretch was pretty basic with a few mobility moves tossed in. Good stuff. I love that she is doing more mat workout in her Live classes these days.
Thelma, great workouts. Sounds brutal though! I am glad everything went well with the surgeon but oops is right. I am sure you will be fine if you stay where you are for a couple of weeks before going heavier though. Thanks for the information on Nova Scotia. The isolation is one of the reasons I am so looking forward to it. DH and I love the drive to Alaska for that reason, and I think this will give us a feel for that, but it just won’t be for a couple thousand miles.
Laurie, great workout. I think I should probably record my weights more as well. Some days I think I am the laziest dedication fitness enthusiast that ever existed because, well, it is quite a paradox. I hope you enjoy the weekend with your grandson. He must be growing up so fast! Thanks for the update on the total body workout from Cathe. I hadn’t seen that. I have grown so used to the pace of the 2.0 workouts that I think I will be in for a shock when I do try a faster workout again.
Enjoy the weekend.

Hi Ladies, I hope you had a nice weekend. Ours was very busy, but good. We actually got 6/10's inches of rain between Saturday and Sunday, which was wonderful.
I spent Saturday afternoon cooking. I prepared my breakfast for the week and made dinner. We air fried chicken breast, and I made a salad I saw on FB last week. It was a garden salad topped with roasted vegetables and chicken. It was absolutely delicious to me. DH is a weirdo and didn't want to mix the roasted veggies with his garden salad. I roasted sweet potato, asparagus, zucchini, green and red peppers and diced everything. I just loved the sweetness of the sweet potato. It was a lot of work, but I loved it so much that I'm willing to make it again.
I survived Caroline's Epic I first week and have started week 2. The last workout last week was a HIIT total body workout. It was full of burpees, squats, pushups lunges, some jumping, and I loved it. I can't believe I'm saying I loved such workout, but it showed me how much stronger I am. I did use the resistance band for the pushups. I liked the fact that the exercises seem to prepare you to do those Makers.
Sunday's Epic I workout was arms and core. I love how she has a way to drive your muscles to fatigue. This workout had 5 bicep, 5 triceps and 5 ab exercises. Each exercise was repeated twice and at the end she did one set of each bicep and triceps exercise as finishers.
I have to admit that last week's full body workout with the makers really scared me, but after the HIIT workout I felt excited to continue with the program. I also like that CG includes a lot of ab work in the program.
My weekend workouts were as follows,
Friday - Walking X2, Gentle Flow yoga and Caroline Girvan Epic I - Day 5 HIIT Full Body Workout.
Saturday - Walking X2.
Sunday - Walking X2 and Caroline Girvan Epic I - Day 6 Abs & Core and Arms.
Laurie, great workout and congrats for using heavier weights!
I hope you had a great time watching your grandson.
I don't know that I could do a maker workout. This week's HIIT is all burpees though. The workout sheets apparently don't exist. They only have the calendars and mine is better because I added the workouts' time. I'm just going to wing it because each workout is different.
Laurel, great workouts! I love the sound of Cathe's Live Strong and Fit workouts!
Little Caroline can be very tough with her workouts. I still don't know how she can possibly lift so much weight! Caroline's format is usually 40 seconds on, 20 seconds off, so there isn't much time to rest. For the arm workout I used 12 lb dumbbell and they felt like 15-16#. I even weighed them on my postal scale to make sure I hadn't increased the weight. I think I'm going to buy more 1/2# plates.
When DH and I go on vacation is really to isolate ourselves from the world. We do have an itinerary of the things we'd like to see. We rent a car and go! We always have snacks and water with us. In fact, we always bring a jar of peanut butter with us to make sandwiches! LOL
Going to faster workouts will be a shock to your body for sure and this is why I chose this Epic I workout.
See you tomorrow!
Thelma

Hi Ladies! I hope you enjoyed the weekend. Ours was pretty busy. We woke up to rain on Saturday, which was wonderful. So that and some confusion from Lowe’s on when our new oven was going to be delivered (they said 10am-2pm and we ended up getting it at 6pm because they loaded the truck backwards ), had us staying around the house all day. But it gave us a chance to do a few things with some of our outdoor plants (when it wasn’t raining), and I finally got DH to help me with some spring cleaning items that I need his height for. I am so glad to have those done for awhile. And, of course, we needed to remove and install a new oven. Yesterday was cleaning the house and yard work and errands. But it was such a beautiful autumn day that we also got a nice walk in before dinner.
For workouts, on Saturday I did 2.0 Giant Sets Total Body, and LITE Cardio Party with the Calorie Crush. Yesterday was a walk with Jessica Smith and 45 minutes of yoga. Today was 2.0 Upper Body 1 and a 30 minute spin. I felt super strong on the 2.0 workout today.
Thelma, great workouts! I am in awe because I can’t imagine enjoying a workout full of burpees! Great job. We love putting grilled veggies and protein on top of salad fixings. We do that a lot in the summer, especially with fish. So good. I am glad you got some rain as well. We could use about four days like Saturday, but one full day of on and off rain has done wonders for our grass. DH and I also love traveling to isolated places. We will still hit the odd city (we are going to spend a couple of days in Quebec City on this trip), but we much prefer being away from pretty much everything when we travel. That is getting harder and harder to do with the boom in tourism. We could always count on ‘off seasons’ but there really are no off seasons anymore.
See you tomorrow.
Laurel0 -
Hi Ladies, my workouts on Monday were Walking x2 and Caroline Girvan Epic I - Day 6 Lower Body.
The leg workout should've been called the 1000 lunge workout. Thank goodness they were mostly static lunges. I was holding 16# dumbbells but after 30 minutes I was losing my grip strength and thought I was going to drop the dumbbells, so I put my grippers on. They saved the day! Each exercise had 3 segments. For example, Static lunge, hold lunge on the low end and static lunge again. This set was the majority of the workout though. There were some squats, including sumos, hip thrusts and bridge thrusts. Upper body tomorrow!
Laurel, I'm so glad you finally got some rain and that your new oven got delivered and installed! Sounds like you had a very productive weekend! I hope you like your new oven.
Great workouts!
I still can't believe I enjoyed a workout full of burpees. I might not say the same after Friday's Burpee HIIT workout though. LOL
Sounds like you and your DH have planned a wonderful trip! I love it! Tourism has really exploded. BR is a big example of that!
See you tomorrow!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was 2.0 Lower Body 2 and Cathe Live HiiT It, Strike it and Crunch It.
Thelma, great workouts. I am with you in that if I am going to do a workout with lunges, static lunges are best. But they still make for a brutal workout. It was so nice getting rain this weekend, but everything dries up so quickly because of the clay that our grass is already dying again. The new oven is nice. I am anxious to try the air fryer function. I am hoping it makes things crispy. Being able to use the oven for that instead of an air fryer would be so nice.
See you tomorrow.
Laurel0 -
Hi Ladies, my workouts on Tuesday were Walking x2, Yin and Caroline Girvan Epic I - Day 8 Upper Body.
The upper body workout was three exercises of each shoulders, back and chest. Each exercise was repeated 4 times, 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off. Then some chest and shoulder finishers at the end. She did shoulders first, and they were done sitting on a chair. This was great because I can go heavier sitting down.
I was able to use my pre-surgery weight for shoulders. I usually do 20# for chest presses, but since my arms got fried with the shoulder set, I used 17.5# and 16#. I used 20 and 15# for rows. It was a good workout. My legs are feeling the lower body workout from Monday!
Wednesday is rest day, then total body with lower body focus on Thursday.
Laurel, great workouts! How wonderful that your new oven is an an air fryier too. We've found that the key to crispy foods is making sure you spray the food with oil.
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
Just popping in to let you know that I forgot to let you know that DH and I where taking a fast trip to Buffalo NY. We went to get some parts for our new Trofeo, so it was there and back. I'm just doing some catching up right now, but wanted to let you know what was going on.
Laurie0 -
Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was 2.0 Upper Body 2 and a fun 45 minute spin. While I was able to keep up with Cathe’s weight in the 2.0 workout today, my arms were fried at the end. This upper body workout is harder for me than 1.0 for sure. I think it may have something to do with the order of the exercises, but it got me good today.
Thelma, great workouts. That sounds like a fantastic upper body workout. We have had mixed results with our air fryer and getting things crispy. We have been successful with egg rolls, moderately successful with onion rings, and not at all successful on fries. I will try the latter in the oven to see if they crisp up there. I am not much of a fry anything eater, so if it doesn’t work…..oh well. But that being said, every now and again I would love a good, healthier french fry.
Laurie, thanks for checking in. I am glad your trip went well.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Wednesday were Walking x2 an gentle yoga. My body needed the rest day because I'm sore everywhere!
Wednesday was our 20th wedding anniversary. We don't go out to celebrate, but today we spent the afternoon at the vet's with our dog Chico. Poor little guy threw his back out. We hope he'll feel better in the morning.
I got myself a set of Finer Form adjustable dumbbells as a wedding anniversary gift. I can't wait for them to get here. A woman in one of Caroline's FB groups suggested this set for petite women. She also owns the BowFlex ginormous dbells like I do. The size different is incredible. These new ones are regular dbell size. I hope I'll be able to get rid of some of the dumbbells I've had for years because they take up way too much space.
Laurie, I'm so glad you're OK. Thanks for checking in.
Laurel, great workouts and congratulations for keeping up with Cathe's weight! I read yesterday that the new leg workout has an 18 minute bonus Barre workout.
Cathe always says it's good to shock the body with different workouts. Caroline's workouts have been a mega shock for my body. She has a huge following. I love that a lot of her followers are women in 50 and older. Laurel, I really think you would love these workouts.
The only way things have gotten really crispy for us is when DH puts the air fried food under the broiler for a minute or two. French fries are hard. I remember reading that you should soak them in water. Oh yeah! Here is a recipe.
https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchen/air-fryer-french-fries-7217365
See you tomorrow!
Thelma0 -
Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was Party Rockin’ Step 2, the core work from Flex Train, and a total body stretch from Peloton. It all felt good today.
Thelma, Happy Anniversary!!! I am sorry you had to spend it at the vet, and I hope Chico is feeling better today. Poor guy. Great workouts. I am glad you gave your body a rest. I felt I needed one today as well and opted for fun over intense. I will be so interested to hear about the new dumbbells. I would love to be able to get rid of my weights when we move again (whenever that may be), so please let us know how they work for you. I just can’t do the big Bow Flex weights (DH has a set, and I find them completely unwieldy), but something small like that sounds really good. I might try a few of Caroline’s workouts before we start our next rotation. You and Laurie have me very curious. Thank you for the French fry recipe!
See you tomorrow.
Laurel0 -
Hi Ladies, my workouts on Thursday were Walking x2 and Caroline Girvan Epic I - Day 9 Full Body -Lower Body Focus.
Our sweet boy Chico passed away overnight. We think there was a blood clot or something cardiac involved. The vet thinks it was a blood clot. We are devastated and incredibly sad. DH and I have cried so much. Chico was his little boy.
I did the best I could with Caroline's workout. It was pretty good, except for the one armplanks she does. She had some inclined pushups and I did those on the floor. There was a very nice ab and balancing segment.
Laurel, great workouts!
Thank you for the anniversary wishes.
Caroline has two rest days built into the schedule, the day before and after a full body workout. This means Friday would be a rest day. I chose to do my second rest day on Saturday, so Friday will be my HIIT day.
I will let you know about the adjustable dumbbells. One of the reasons women in Caroline's said they didn't like them because it takes a few seconds to change the weights between sets.
Have a great weekend!
Thelma0 -
Thelma, I am so sad to hear about Chico. No doubt you and your DH are devastated. I hope you find some comfort in knowing you provided him a loving home for his final years. I honestly don’t know how you managed a workout after that. But I also suppose doing something ‘normal’ felt somewhat soothing. My heart breaks for you.
Thanks for the information on the dumbbells. The amount of time it takes to change weight is definitely top of the list in my concerns. I will be curious to hear more from you on them.
For my workout today, I did 2.0 Trisets Total Body and a 30 minute spin. I found myself wondering at the end of the total body workout how we all managed to do three weeks of these total body workouts. They are so tough.
Enjoy the weekend.

Hi Ladies, I hope you had a good weekend. Ours was very sad and busy. DH and I reminisced about our sweet Chico and cried together. The pain of having lost our boy is very intense.
My new Finer Form Adjustable Dumbbells arrived on Saturday. I was like a kid in a candy store. They are beautiful and easy to adjust because you only turn the handle to change the weight. It takes seconds. The BoxFlex dumbbells have to be adjusted at both ends. I used them for my Quad workout, but I didn't have to change weights. I will on Monday during my 49 minute shoulder workout! Week 2 done!
My workouts this weekend were:
Friday - Walking X2, Tracy Steen No Jumping, All Standing Cardio HIIT. I just didn't have the strength to do Caroline's burpee hiit workout.
Saturday - Walking X2 and a Mobility Workout Full Body Routine.
Sunday - Walking X2 and Caroline Girvan Epic I - Day 11 Abs and Quads. This Quad workout was a total sweat fest, but I did it all! 25% of the workout was ab work and the rest of the 46 minutes was a squatathon!
Laurel, great workouts! I don't know how we survived three weeks of those total body workouts either!
I don't see any problem with the new dumbbell. The weight is easily adjustable. It takes seconds. The only issue with timing is if there's no time between sets. Caroline only gives 20 seconds between sets, but she only uses one or two sets of dumbbells.
Here is the link to the product description. It has a couple of customer videos. The dumbbells are 17% off and there is a $50 off coupon.

Thanks so much for those kind words about Chico. I don't know how I managed to workout either, but I think it's because I knew I'd feel better post workout.
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
Can't believe how crazy busy it was last week. So I'm hoping that this week will be the same old same old kind of week. I did some babysitting on Friday, so was able to spend some time with my favorite little man. He is just so adorable right now, and is a chunk. We will have him again on Saturday, and will be taking him to a car show event.
My workout on Friday was LITE Strong Body Stacked Sets: Upper. Kind of surprised me how light the weights where on that workout. No workouts this weekend, just busy getting the yard taken care of before the winter weather gets here. This morning was LITE Rev'd Up Rumble, had a great time revisiting that one.
Thelma, I'm so sorry to hear about Chico, he sounded like a great dog. Of course please give your DH a big hug, I'm sure that you both are going through a lot.
Will get to reading all the posts that I missed, but it looks like you both are rocking all the workouts.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! I hope you enjoyed the weekend. Ours was very busy taking care of things around the house. We decided it was time to get rid of all of our vegetable plants. Then we are getting the lawn aerated tomorrow, so I have been trying to pick up all of the nuts which are falling like crazy. I collected three buckets full this weekend alone, and I had collected them a few times last week. Just that kind of year again. Then there were errands and indoor chores, and it seemed like we were going between breakfast and dinner both days without a break. But it was also productive.
For workouts, on Saturday I did a walk with Jessica Smith and 45 minutes of Peloton yoga. Yesterday was 2.0 Lower Body 1 and ICE Rock’m Sock’m and Core 1. Today was 2.0 Upper Body 2 and a 30 minute spin.
Thelma, great workouts. No doubt this weekend was rough for you, though. It sounds like Chico brought a lot of joy to your life. I am glad you are enjoying the new weights. Thank you for the information. I am going to seriously consider them. I have warned DH that I am dedicating next year to downsizing. Even though we have no plans to move anytime soon, I am a bit alarmed how comfortably we have filled this house which is way too big for us. Thankfully he agrees with me.
Laurie, I hope this week is much calmer for you. I am glad you were able to spend some time with your grandson this weekend. Great workouts! I love hearing the LITE Stacked Sets Upper Body workout felt relatively easy. I am getting anxious to move on to other workouts now, and have really been wondering how this strength will translate to other workouts.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Monday were Walking X2 and Caroline Girvan Epic I - Day 12 Shoulders. Caroline used 2 sets of dumbbells for the entire workout. I had to use 7 sets! The format was 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off. Some sets were repeated 3 times, with rest in between sets. Some unilateral exercises were repeated 3 times without rest.
I was able to use heavier weights than I used with Cathe because of my new dumbbells in a couple of exercises. The last exercise in this workout was a headstand! Yeah right! Not going to happen! The modification she offered was a pike, but not a pike pushup. Caroline said to put as much weight on the shoulders as possible or something like that. I took a pair of dumbbells and held them above my head for the duration of the set. I figured that was close enough. LOL. It was a really good workout.
My quads and adductors are killing me from Sunday's workout even though I stretched and massaged a lot. Tuesday's workout is Quads and Glutes. I'm scared!
Legion Athletics has a BOGO sale on their protein products. Buy one, get one 50%. If you auto subscribe you get an extra discount and you can cancel any time. I had a subscription, which I canceled tonight, just to subscribe again with the sale price.
Laurie, great workouts! That Rev'd Up Rumble is a fun one! I am glad you got to spend some time with your little man. I am sure he is adorable. He is going to be the center of attention at the car show!
Thanks so much Laurie. Chico was a very special dog. I will definitely give DH a hug for you. We can use all the hugs we can get.
Laurel, sounds like a very busy weekend. It's amazing how many nuts those trees can produce! It would be nice if they all fell at the same time though! Do you have a tool to pick them up with?
Great workouts! All that yard work should be added to your list of workouts too!
It really was a rough weekend. I used to love all the different sounds of excitement he made.
It's amazing how comfortable we get once we move into a home. I have no doubt you will downsize.
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
We are getting buckets of rain this morning. Not fun driving in it. My workout was LITE Strong Body Stacked Sets: Lower. I went heavier for every exercise on this one. Yes it is endurance, but I didn't think that my hr would go high enough with the weights that Cathe was using, and she did say go heavy if you need to. Good choice on my part, because the hr was up and the workout felt great. I'm feeling my legs right now, so I'm guessing that I did good.
Laurel, Your weekend sounds a lot like the one that we had. Astounding how much needs to be taken care of for the fall. We also have that nut problem, but we have been avoiding that part. It needs to happen this weekend for sure. Someone in our neighborhood had the house deco up for fall. I still have red/white/blue on my door. Awesome job with those workouts! I for sure was wondering what I should do with this workout, but when I looked at the weights listed, I knew that I needed to go up. I think only one exercise in the upper body (shoulders), I needed to go down on the next set.
Thelma, Great job with the workout! You are using the weight that you need to for the workout, even if you use many sets. I love your option for the pikes. Thanks for the information on the protein.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was Cathe’s Low Impact Challenge from her Low Impact series followed by Cathe Live Strong and Fit Core and Stretch. The Low Impact Challenge workout was, for me, the one Cathe step workout I never thought I would be able to learn. It wasn’t until a few years after it was released that I made myself do it every day for a month to see if I could learn it, and I did. I haven’t done it in a few years now, so I didn’t know how it would go, but it was great today. I feel pretty happy that both my brain and body were up for it.
Thelma, great workouts. I like your modification for the headstand. That is never happening here either. We do have a tool for picking up nuts but it only works on the bigger walnuts. Our acorns just roll right back out of it, and it seems that this is the year of acorns. Our two biggest nut producers are two trees we are going to get cut down, and I was so hoping they would do that before now. But they didn’t. Now I am hoping they get to them before the leaves fall off.
Laurie, great workout. That remains one of my favorite Cathe lower body workouts. I just feel it gets so much done in a short period of time. And I always feel it the day after. It really is amazing how much work goes into getting ready for the winter. Because we had our front doors refinished, I have put out my autumn wreathes now. But Halloween decorations (the few I have) will wait until mid-October. I am not ready for that. I say that but then the stores are already full of Christmas stuff which I find pretty ridiculous to be honest. Maybe I am just getting old.
See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Tuesday were Walking X2, Yin and Caroline Girvan Epic I - Day 13 Hamstrings & Glutes.
The hamstrings & glutes workout was excellent. She used a fabric band for a good part of the workout and had a single dumbbell. I got to use my 44# dumbbell for the first-time post-surgery. It went well! There were lots of sumos, hip and bridge trusts. For some reason I could not get myself to do the hip thrusts right on the upper body. My neck hurt, which told me I was doing something wrong. I ended up doing bridge thrusts with my feet elevated on the step, which worked out very well. I had the form right when I was doing STS 2, but I guess it's been over 5 weeks since I last did them. I will go back to my notes to see my step height because I think that was my problem.
We had chances of rain on Tue, Wed and Thu this week and they all evaporated. The first chance of rain our forecast shows is on 10/5, then nothing!
Laurie, please send some rain our way! It is scary to drive under heavy rain conditions.
Great job with that workout and for going heavier than before on those exercises! Good job!
Shoulders are my weakest body part, so I have no choice but to use lots of weights. At least I'm lifting heavier.
Laurel, great workouts! What a great idea to do the step workout every day for a month in order to learn it! No wonder you're so good with step workouts. I think that is what I'd have to do in order to get better. There was a time when we were doing step workouts more frequently and I was getting much better.
Too bad there isn't a tool that would pick those smaller nuts up. Do you rake them into a pile? Thank goodness you're having those nut trees cut down! Hopefully the tree guys will cut them before the leaves fall off!
See you tomorrow!

Morning Ladies,
Another rainy morning, but we really do need it after this summers drought conditions. My workout was P30 Perfect HiiT: Low Impact HiiT. If I need to do hit I really have to admit that the low impact is way more friendly to my body than the high. It still gets the job done without the impact.
Laurel, Glad that you enjoyed your step workout, and getting in a stretch. Makes one wonder how those really old step workouts that Cathe has would go. I remember doing Step Heat over and over until I got that down pat. It was my first step workout, and those orange walls still play in my mind. Yep I'm feeling that lower body workout today, it was pretty rough with the HiiT workout this morning. My knees just needed more movement. You are not getting old, they just put out the decorations way to early. They where just starting to put out Christmas items at Hobby Lobby in August. I thought that was crazy early. I don't even start thinking about fall until this time of the year, so when I'm looking for fall items they are pretty picked over. Very sad.
Thelma, Great job on the workouts! Glad that you where able to find a fix for the hip thrusts. Can't believe that it has already been 5 weeks since your where doing STS. Feels like it was just a few weeks ago. I think that I was commenting about needing the rain this summer when you where having so much of it. Interesting how those fronts move.
Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was 2.0 Lower Body 2 followed by what has instantly become my favorite 45 minute spin on Peloton. It was an 80s ride, and it was all pop hits that I still remember every word to. I can’t remember my name half the time, but put on an 80s song and it is all right there. Needless to say, I will be repeating that one because it was not only a good workout but pure escapism.
Thelma, great workouts. We are in a pretty bad drought condition right now and they are thinking it will get worse before it gets better. They are anticipating highs in the 90s this weekend and no rain for at least another ten days. We only have had one inch of rain all September. Now is when I start getting a little concerned about fires, especially once people start burning their leaves. Hopefully we get some rain before that happens. DH insists on using a rake to pick up the nuts, but it only shreds the grass and doesn’t get the small acorn nuts. So I do it the old fashioned way of walking back and forth across the lawn and picking up the nuts I see. It is brutal on my back but effective. Not my favorite task to say the least.
Laurie, great workout. I still think that is my favorite low impact HiiT workout from Cathe. I am loving your choice of workouts this week. The first two workouts I purchased from Cathe (actually Collage videos) were Step Heat and Power Max. I did Power Max first (and it nearly killed me), but fell in love with Step Heat. I still own them on DVD, and a couple of months ago I popped Step Heat in to do the Abs section. You know it has been 25+ years since that workout came out from the fashion and set alone. I often think I need to revisit those step workouts before I lose the ability to do step workouts. A couple of weeks ago I decided I wanted a new autumn piece for our coffee table, so we went to Kirklands. It was still summer, and it was all Christmas with a small corner of the remainder of their autumn decorations. The bad news is it was a limited selection. The good news is I found exactly what I wanted and it only cost $7 because the sale was 50% off the 50% off price. But, seriously, it was insane to see all of their autumn stuff gone before autumn even started.
See you tomorrow.
