Hi Ladies! Today was STS Disk 15/Back and Biceps. I love this workout because it is simple, straight-forward, heavy lifting. It felt great! I followed it with CrossFire Extreme premix.

Michelle, that Muscle Mania class sounds brutal!! 101 push-ups....to finish? :noway: Congratulations for getting through it. Here's hoping your instructor is in a better mood next time! Congratulations to your DD on her swim meet! Glad I am not alone on MMA Fusion. It is another workout where I kind of wonder what the point of it is. But I took it as a core/punching workout yesterday and didn't let myself get frustrated at the lack of cardio. That seemed to work.

Tami, I really wish Cathe would post an article outlining her thought process behind these super light weight 'strength' workouts she has done recently. I think that would help me mentally even if the workouts don't quite gel with me physically. And I am sure she has a reason behind them. But I get confused when she posts articles on her newsletter as she did this week about the benefits of strength training in combating cellulite. I must admit that it left me wondering why, if that is the case, she has released three consecutive leg workouts that I don't consider 'strength' training. Oh well. I have found a use for XTrain Legs at times, and I do like these new ones better (especially Lean Legs) so I know there is a place in my workout room for them. Anyhow, great job with the KCM workout. Hope you like/liked X10!

Hi Ladies ~ Great Insanity class minus the absolute “stuffy/stale” air in the gym:huh: This time of year they don’t open the doors much I guess for any fresh air to come in, plus there were a lot of people in class (Biggest Loser competition going on remember) and on the other half of the gym there was another class. It was that thick, hard to breathe air. At any rate, she had me come up front for an entire round and I was feeling it! This a.m. was Cathe’s X10!!! I did the X62 pre-mix and  it. This will definitely be a “go to” DVD over time for shorter pre-mixes as add-ons or the longer ones for good cardio days! Headed to Spinning after work and then home to see DH! He is on his way home right now from his long time guiding on the Columbia River. I have dinner all pre-made so I can just get a shower and join him!

Michelle: Great to hear from you! Sounds like another busy family weekend and congrats to your daughter for the 1st Place on the 100M Backstroke! :drinker: Yay. Your MM class sounds like it was a toughie, along with a cranky drill sgt!! Hope your F.I.T. class went well today! Way to keep working out those classes with your schedule! 101 push-ups??!!! :noway: I bet your having some DOM’s after that. YOWSA

Laurel: Awesome workouts today! So my thoughts on X10 … as I mentioned above I really liked it! I feel like it is a compilation of moves from lots of different newer workouts and a few new moves in there as well. One thing I have noticed is the music …. It is a huge range of tunes from every era forsure. Doing Flex Train the other day I think Stayin Alive was playing; all re-mixes but it’s like the “best of” hits or something. I’m sure there are others wondering her thought process on the “light” weights too ~ I think I started out XT with " " thoughts and as I did in that program I will just make them my own as I go  I will keep my reviews coming …. So far, 2 for 2  My stack is in order of what I want to try first, etc. You can probably guess where I have the step ones .....again, the wrapper may not come off the one for quite some time :blushing: Tomorrow I think Lean Legs & Abs is next.

    Morning Ladies,

F.I.T yesterday was brutal!:noway: From combo moves like curtsey lunges with kicks to touch your fingers, a gazillion variation of squats, some standing band work that firewalker runs and hops to one hand planks, then she finished with a Jillian Michael Yoga squat where our back leg has to touch our calf and then we squat and hold for 30 secs on each side.:noway: After all of those squats and plie squat jumps my poor thighs were screaming as I tried to untangle myself to stretch.:blushing: Overall it was brutal but fun and I will be back next week. She actually invited us to join her again for the Pm class. Afterwards it was Zumba time but honestly my LB felt heavy and uncoordinated after that class, so I'm not sure how many calories were burned in that one.

Tami- Yeah on hubby's return. My hubby leaves this weekend for D.C. so sheduling will be crazy next week for sure, he will be missed. Ooh another class demo, how did you feel this time?

Laurel- I felt those push-ups in my Traps as she had us do wide push-ups and then dips using the bench. MMA fusion was a dvd based on the current fad but a KB dvd would of been better for sure. Sorry that the high reps are not working for sure but I think Cathe is trying to have a well rounded base of dvds and for Pear shape bodies, higher reps with lighter weights actually help to shrink our problem areas. She has such a large collection of dvds and her focus in her recent collections has been focused on lower impact, shorter dvds, Barre work and now high reps and light weights! For someone like myself who dread the long workouts, heavy weights for LB, and need for too much equipment this appeals to newer customers.

Have a great day, lunch break is nearly over.:flowerforyou:

Hi Ladies! Today I revisited Great Glutes, and it was okay. I still find the standing portion too easy, but the floor work is tough. So it is kind of a mixed bag for me. I followed it with After Burn Bonus Burn, and that gave my legs that little extra push I needed.

Tami, great job in the Insanity class and being up front the entire time!! But I am sorry to hear about the stuffy air. I have a really hard time working out in stuffy environments, so kudos to you for pushing through. So glad you like X10! I agree about the moves. As much as I have enjoyed learning these step workouts, I also like workouts like X10 that you can get down right away. Some days I just want to workout and not think! Yeah, the music for this series is really varied. I was thinking today that one of the reasons I think I responded better to Lean Legs over Great Glutes is because of the music. The music in the latter is more generic instrumental, whereas I remember the music in Lean Legs being more fun. And, yes, you are right about Stayin' Alive! Makes me laugh.

Michelle, you made me smile when you said 'it was brutal but fun and I will be back next week'! I love fellow intensity junkies!! But that really sounded like a tough class. I will be honest that I have thought about you when doing these new workouts because I know you have indicated you like to go with lighter weights/higher reps because you have said you can bulk. And I think it is fantastic that Cathe is giving that option because I agree with you....there needs to be that option. I think the thing that leaves me confused is that Cathe has always been one to dismiss the whole 'I can't lift heavy because I bulk' concern many times (and It never have agreed with her on this in all cases) and has gone out of her way to explain it away a number of times. And I guess I am just curious as to whether she has changed her opinions or if there is another method to creating these workouts that I feel I should be aware of. I do think she is reaching out to a broader audience with her workouts now. For so many years, she focused only on the advancer exerciser, and I think (especially as she ages) she is beginning to appreciate that it isn't necessary to push it every day in every workout (something I haven't quite accepted for myself yet but know that it is empirically true and right). I think she is very wise to do this, as I know there will be many days in the future when I will really appreciate this approach. That is one of the reasons I stick with Cathe because while I may not always click with a workout right away or even within years, eventually I will find a place for it. This week is testament to that with doing both Kick Max and MMA Fusion!!

    See you all tomorrow!

Hi Ladies ~ Fabulous Spin class last night! We had our regular tough instructor back (again, same as Insanity instructor). She has started PT on her knee & off her crutches but still in a brace for several more weeks. At any rate, her class is always SO good! Still haven’t made my date with Lean Legs :ohwell: By the time he was unpacked, fish put away, etc. & showered we had dinner and just sat down to visit and catch up last night it was much later than normal so I opted to get some zzzzz’s this a.m. Hoping tonight, but if not I will do that one in the a.m. and a Total Body on Saturday  Our Women’s 4-person volleyball league starts this Sunday! :drinker:

Michelle: F.I.T. sounds amazing & right up my alley! I also like the “brutal but fun” comment because I know exactly what you are saying. Very nice to have DH home. I can get into my own little routine and the time goes by fast but it does get a little lonely ….. the dogs don’t say a whole lot! Much different than when your DH is gone I’m sure. You have a full on schedule of mom & dad when yours is gone. The demo’s are getting easier actually ~ it is a nice compliment that she keeps asking forsure and happy to help her any way I can. I’m not going to lie, it’s still a little stressful :blushing: but not as bad as the very first time.

Laurel: Fabulous job again today:drinker: Thanks for the kudos on the class! One full round, but not the whole class, thank goodness!! The stuffy air business was horrible because I felt like I was sucking for air and wondering if it was maybe nerves until I asked another gal in the class as well. I’m glad I’m opting for Lean Legs first …. I think that’s why I picked it when I watched the clips and now from your review I will definitely stick with it first. Sounds like Great Glutes has some good moments but not Lower Body Blast type fun  I’ve had AfterBurn on my mind lately  that one. Sunday will be back to STS and I hope to follow that workout up with Rockin Knockout :drinker:

    Hi Ladies!

Well, I did good on workouts for about 2 days, and then my evenings got consumed with work again! :grumble: Ever since the health insurance exchanges opened up, it has been crazy in our office. So many people panicing about what to do, how to get coverage, etc. It's a nightmare, actually. :noway:

So, no workouts, but I've gotten to a point where I'm ok with it for now. Until work slows down, and we get our hockey schedule figured out, we'll be having some busy evenings/weekends.

The 3 dogs are getting along great, and I'm so loving my work with the rescue. Lots of great adoptions over the last few weeks and my team of foster moms is awesome! I just wish I could get paid for doing this, and I'd quit my job and do something I love. But, I'll just keep on doing both...for now!

Great work, all of you, on your workouts! I am really impressed!

I need to make this short, but wanted to say hi. I hope to be back on here sometime next week. Have a great weekend!

Hi Ladies! Today I opted for Muscle Max, even though I had planned STS Total Body all week. :ohwell: But I made a good choice because Muscle Max felt perfect today. I followed it with Cathe's Greatest Hits workout. Definitely not an easy workout, but still wish the first part had a little more meat and the entire workout flowed together better. But I enjoyed it more this time than the first time I did it, so that is good.

Tami, glad you enjoyed some time with your DH. Like you, I don't mind my routine when my husband is away, but it does get a bit lonely. I don't even have dogs to talk to!! So happy to hear about the good progress your instructor is making! Have fun with the volleyball!!

Erika, so good to see you!! I can only imagine how the healthcare law is impacting your work. Hopefully things will settle down a bit in the near future. Don't worry about the workouts. You definitely have enough on your plate right now. Happy to hear the pups are doing well. Still love your photo!! Such a cutie!

    Have a great weekend!!

    Ladies,

I'm late today because I had an early hair dresser appt due to a party tomorrow night. Yesterday after work it was cooking dinner and then off to a School recruitment seminar for the eldest while hubby took the little one to her school's Fall festival. The session lasted longer than I thought so it was a late night by the time bath, hair and dinner was provided. This morning I opted to do a workout at home plus it was cold, so Knockout Punchout was unwrapped. Overall it was a good session and I used my gloves for the entire dvd. The movements were not crazy and there was no dread factor, although it is truly more upper than kicking combos the plyo moves definitely increases the cardio.

Laurel- So many people like to say women can not bulk, blah, blah, blah, but for those of us who know our bodies and work hard without the desired results then obviously the heavier weights are not the answer. In the last month with my classes my thighs have actually increased by a 1/2 inch and even the instructor said to drop my weight and try to get in 2-3 Yoga classes to help stretch my muscles especially if I tend to gain easily. Cathe is getting older and I'm sure some mornings are achier than others plus her loyal customers are also feeling the brunt of those long High impact sessions. My grandfather was a bodybuilder and always maintained a beautiful physique but his joints were so damaged towards the end, so I think it is great that she is changing up her dvds and as more studies are done it is good to see instructors in general willing to change their methodology and introduce new things.

Tami- I can imagine it colud get lonely because although I enjoy my hubby's travels usually by day five, I'm ready for him to come home because he is so hands on with our girls. Yes those dogs can be great company but after a bit sometimes you do want a response.

Erika- Yeah to your visit. Eventually things will slow down but for now I'm glad to hear that people are trying to use those exchanges to obtain much needed care. I was talking to a lady recently who had stated she has not gone to a doctor in 8 years and that saddens me especially when I know that at times I will avoid going for annuals because I'm too busy:blushing: , not because it is not an option. So to me you are doing great, with those people and those poor puppies.

    Have a great weekend.

Hi Ladies! Hope you all enjoyed a good weekend. We had a nice one here. I took Saturday off from working out, as usual. Yesterday was STS Disk 13/Chest, Shoulders and Triceps, which felt great. I really do love these Meso 2 workouts. I followed it with Cardio Core Circuit. Today was STS Disk 14/Legs. I felt really strong on this one today. I followed it with Rockout Knockout, and did the premix that included the Heavy Bag work.....even though I don't have a heavy bag. I kept my wrist weights on for the entire workout, and that heavy bag section was a nice little 10 minute add-on. Nothing outrageous, but fun enough for a little extra something. I ended it with XTrain Core 1.

Michelle, I am glad you enjoyed the kickboxing workout. You describe it perfectly. It is just a nice workout without, as you say, any dread factor. Yeah, I have never quite understood Cathe's approach to 'women don't bulk' because that is obviously not the case for many. Interesting info on your grandfather. Thanks for sharing that. Since I have a history of joint problems (namely shoulders) it is something I will need to be very aware of as I get older.

    See you tomorrow!

Hi Ladies ~ Happy Monday! So workouts from Friday . . I did Cathe’s “new” Lean Legs & Abs on Friday. Sat was STS Total Body and went to Spinning with my friend from work and her daughter. This was their first time to ever try Spinning. I’m not sure that they will come back for a while :frown: They both felt it was very intense and the seat bones really hurt on those seats . . . . I was proud of them both for giving it a try though! Yesterday started Meso 2 of STS #13 with Chest/Shoulders/Tri’s followed by Rockin Knockout and then I headed out for our first matches of the season for Volleyball. We didn’t have a whole lot of wins but all the games were very close and we played way better than we normally do on our first day out! Speaking of which . . . when I woke up this a.m. my hip flexors were talking to me! I think the movement for my body of lunging down towards the ground (quickly) to get to a ball or to the side gave them that wonderful feeling. Feeling all good now but whoa! I will go to BootCamp tonight and hope it is not shoulder intensive! :noway: After yesterday a full days rest would do them good.

Erika: Nice to hear from you!:flowerforyou: I can’t even imagine your job right now with the insurance business. I would imagine it is beyond a nightmare with all the calls, confusion, etc. :grumble: Hang in there! Glad to know you have the dog rescue to keep your heart warm:heart: It would be a dream to go to something you love every single day, I agree!

Michelle: Sounds like things are busy as usual at your home and also nice work keeping up with your workouts! So that was Rockin Knockout of Cathe’s you did right? It was pretty good I thought when I tried it for the first time yesterday. After Laurel’s review I knew it was going to be mostly punching so I was ready for that. A good follow-up to upper body work.

Laurel: Fantastic job (as always) with your workouts! Sounds like MM was just the ticket for you on Friday! On the Greatest Hits, do you mean not easy choreography or not easy as in it is a tough workout? Way to get in your REST day on Saturday. I'm glad to be in Meso 2 with you now! I forgot about the breaks in between sets … .. that is a great idea to add on the heavy bag portion and just use your gloves for Rockin Knockout. I did the workout yesterday with my weighted gloves. One thing I am noticing a pattern of with these new workouts is that everything is shorter; shorter segments of whatever she is doing. I really noticed it in Leaner Legs + Barre on Friday. I liked the variety in the abwork on that one. There was some new leg moves in that one too that I enjoyed, but again it’s not a super tough leg workout by any means. When it came to the Barre portion I was glad it was shorter ... my mind seems to wander when I do barre work sometimes. I’m glad to be trying these and making notes for next time!

    Morning Ladies, Quick check-in

Hubby is away for the week so TG one of the swim mom's have volunteered to carpool on my late nights. Today I get off early and head to gymnastics and then swim until 9pm. This morning after making breakfast I was able to do a 30min Toby Massenburg dvd which tends to include plyo drills with combo moves, ie. burpees combined with push-ups with the dumbbells soit was a quick session but with the cold temps my knees were definitely slow out the gate with his curtsy lunge plyo moves.:grumble:

Glad to see everyone had a good weekend, we went to a party so I will post pics tomorrow.

Hi Ladies! Today was cardio day. I did Intensity (with the Bootcamp portion) followed by All Out Low Impact HiiT. I love this cardio combo. It is long bit fun and not too taxing physically because of the low impact parts. Good stuff. I think I am going to give up trying to convince myself I am interested in doing yoga right now. After the cardio, I stared at my yoga workouts for about five minutes, shut the cabinet, grabbed a coat, and went for an hour long walk instead. :ohwell: I guess I am just going through one of those phases and instead of forcing myself to do it, I am going to do something else. The walk felt fantastic, though it is a bit cold and murky here today. Perfect Halloween weather!

Michelle, sounds like a very busy schedule. Good job getting a workout in. I am with you on the colder weather. I can really feel it some days! But worse than the cold here is the dryness! My nose, my throat......sigh. I try not to run the furnace because it is so drying, but then DH comes home and looks at me like I am nuts!! I suppose a little heat when it is 40 degrees outside is expected! :blushing:

Tami, hope you were able to rest those shoulders! Sounds like a great weekend of workouts and volleyball, though I am sorry your friend didn't really enjoy Spinning. But at least she gave it a try. I completely agree with you when you say everything feels shorter in these new workouts. That has its benefits because I believe it is that characteristic that made the step workouts easier for me to learn. And I really don't miss endless exercises like low-ends. But at other times I am saying to myself 'I was just getting into that' when we stop. Michelle really nailed it by saying that Rockout Knockout had no dread factor because none of these new workouts have any dread factor for me. That's kind of new when it comes to Cathe's workouts, but I don't think it is altogether a bad thing. Regarding the Greatest Hits workout, I didn't have to learn any new choreography because I had done all of the workouts from which she chose different sections enough to make the workout seem very familiar. So I focus only on the cardio, which is good, especially during the second half when she goes from a section of Drill Max right into four intervals from IMAX 2 right into the last portion of Athletic Step. I think you would like that half of the workout! But the first part is the step work from Step, Jump and Pump, which has a bit of choreography to it. There is also a section from Body Max 2 right before Drill Max. My only complaint about the workout is that first SJP portion. She has much better step work to have chosen from, so I am left wanting. It isn't that it is bad, but I just think it could have been better. But that is about my personal preferences more than anything.

    Until tomorrow,

Hi Ladies ~ BootCamp was a really good one last night! :drinker: I felt like someone told her to think up so new moves that are challenging and not the same old thing! There were 28 people there which is a lot for the area we work in, but doable. We had 9 stations and it was a great variety; lots of plyo moves & strength moves. This a.m. I did my STS Legs workout and it felt great. I really love this leg workout, it is a tri-set format and eventhough I still felt it a bit in my hip flexor, all was good and this loosened it up. Insane-X will be tonight so getting in my “CARDIO” day afterall!

Michelle: You are going to be a very busy mom while he is away!:noway: Sounds like a full day today. I just saw a few clips of his workouts over the weekend. The one you did and then the AfterBurn workout looks like a really good one too. Nice job getting that in prior to your busy day.

Laurel: What a fantastic combo you did today for Cardio! :drinker: Yowsa, nice job!! I resigned myself to know that I should do more Yoga but until I can mentally feel like doing it I don’t think I feel the benefits as much. If that makes sense:laugh: I’m with you, a good walk with my pups instead to just relax the muscles feels perfect! Plus for me the time I spend doing the Yoga and they are left staring at me I often feel like I should just take them for a walk anyway …..:ohwell: I'm sure one of these days Yoga will feel perfect and I will get it into my routine again. We are having highs in the 40’s and lows in the 20’s right now! Brrrrrrrr-rumba! :noway: It changed quick. Still a few nice sunny days in between but it’s deceiving when you go outside and it’s that cold. Yes, thank goodness last night only involved a couple of shoulder intensive stations vs. all shoulders! I love it that you mentioned you don’t miss the endless exercises like low-ends, I agree 100% on that! :drinker: especially lunges! They get me every single time. So far, I have no dread factor either on these workouts. The time truly does fly by! As I get to know each workout a little better and better I feel these will be a great addition to the Cathe Library! I need another case for my DVD's now :blushing:

Jessica: Hope you enjoy Flex Train! :flowerforyou:

Hi Ladies! Today was STS Disk 15/Back and Biceps. I felt really strong today during this workout. I followed it with STS No Equipment Abs. I had to take a break between workouts to take care of a couple of things, and my energy level dropped off significantly! No doubt it was because we attended a 'dinner' function last night.....and they didn't serve dinner! :noway: :explode: The good news is I always go into these functions prepared to eat little, so I had a big garden salad late in the afternoon. But, boy, was I craving protein when we got home. And I think that is why my energy dropped this morning even though I had breakfast (which is more carb-based). So I reached for a shorter workout than I planned and did Party Rockin' Step 2. Now I feel all energized again. It is crazy how much fun I am having with these step workouts!! :drinker:

Tami, glad to hear your hip flexors are feeling better. I love these Meso 2 leg workouts. Definitely my favorite leg workouts in the series! Sounds like your Bootcamp class has turned around! :drinker: After what I know was a bit of a frustrating summer for you with the class, I am so happy to hear the instructor is introducing new moves!! I think the issue with me and yoga right now is it is just giving me too much time to think! I know I am supposed to 'relax my mind' during yoga, but that just doesn't happen. And with everything going on right now (my Mom's health, my husband's upcoming military retirement, etc) too much time to think isn't doing me any good! I am finding activity clears my mind SO much better. I guess that is better than saying 'sitting on the couch eating chocolate clears my mind'. We are definitely chilly here this week as well. We are supposed to get snow today, but the sun is shining right now. Like you are experiencing, it is deceptive. But knowing much of the country is being hammered with weather right now, I guess I shouldn't complain. Love the pup photo!! He's a sweet looking dog.

    See you tomorrow!

    Good Afternoon Ladies,

After heading out to gymnastics it was off to grab dinner, feed the girls in the car and then head into swim practice until 9pm. We were in bed by 10:30 and then unfortunately the eldest asthma had her wheezing through the night so my sleep was sporadic as I tried to observe in case she needed the machine. Mr. C was fed late so of course he was up throughout the night too. This morning it was F.I.T which consisted of agility drills using the ladder and plyo moves combined with upper body weights. She also included a Chaturanga sequence with a runner's lunge pose that truly burned our hamstrings:noway: . Then she had us use a 7lb plate to place on top of our laces and we had to lay flat and push our legs in and out with them elevated. It was a crazy mix that ended with football side drills and then laps around the cones. Afterwards I did my Zumba class and that was some great energy but now my glutes are talking to me from those in and out squat jumps in the
ladder.:grumble: Overall I think I will sleep well tonight and tomorrow she is actually teaching Muscle mania.

Laurel- Did you mention snow...already? I'm sorry to hear about those quiet moments not being as beneficial. I would suggest downloading a hypnosis app for sleep as I have been using those last week and my quality of sleep has definitely been more restful and deep, even if it is only 4-5 hours.

Tami- Geesh 28 people:noway: I'm glad the class was awesome and sorry to hear that the Spin was not as exciting for your friends..I completely understand their pain.:blushing:  Finally we get to see the other "kid" Bernie, how cute. Yes Rockout was good but I previewed a Pactrick Godeau KB dvd and it may focus on both upper and lower which is the great thing about KB.

Have a great day, my break is over.

HI Ladies ~ Insane-X started out with not very many people there … mostly “newbies” and then we had some more join us. Somehow doing demonstrations for more people is not as uncomfortable for me as when there are only 4 or 5 standing there staring! At any rate, good class as usual. Today was STS #15 Back/Bis, planning on Spinning tonight.

Laurel: Great job with the workouts! Even with the pause in the action and back to your step workout! Sometimes if I don’t just get that second workout done right away I move on to other things, shower, etc and it doesn’t happen so good on ya! :drinker: I have learned to completely eat something before a function. Otherwise, like you say it is finger food or heavy carbs and you are starving.:grumble: No wonder your energy was down this a.m. With your enthusiasm on these new step workouts I may at least “preview” one of them this weekend. Yes, BC has turned around since the summer of Running Camp. I know someone did say something about her Fri Spin class so maybe she took it to heart for her BC class as well. Not sure, but I appreciate when an instructor puts effort into making the class a variety instead of the same thing week after week. Thanks for the comment on Bernie ~ he is very sweet! Has always been high energy (being a lab and all) but has really mellowed in the last year or so. He & I are great pals and I think we have bonded more than DH and him. Probably because I’m the one taking him for walks and feeding him . .etc . plus even through his hyper times I love on him like crazy! Forcing myself on him has paid off.:laugh: SNOW Brrrrr, bundle up! I heard them mention snow in our mtns nearby so I wouldn’t be surprised to see flutters very soon.

Michelle: It was a beyond busy day for you yesterday forsure! :noway: Sorry to hear your DD had wheezing through the night. Your F.I.T. class sounds amazing again this week! Nice work adding on the Zumba :drinker: I saw that workout as well and thought it looked really good for a KB workout; I think from the preview I saw, the girl in the video does most of it and Patrick is just in the group doing the workout, but reviews made it sound like a great KB workout. I know, right on the 28 peeps in class. Holy Biggest Loser competition and they are required to take certain classes on certain weeks is why. That must have been on the list Monday.

I’m with you both on the sleep issues lately ….. getting used to DH being back and as I’ve mentioned he is a LOUD  SNORER!!! Plus he has dreams and talks loudly out loud, often yelling which of course wakes me up and scares the whits out of me momentarily, then frustration sets in. Plus with my worries on the work front it doesn’t help either to have my mind wandering and dreams about work. Update to all of that …. She informed me that nothing goes into effect until January 1. That they didn’t have everything lined up just right yet; that the meeting they had with us was a little premature. Although it is ALL changing and she will then meet with us one-on-one to “make things right” So still no definite, just lots of change coming . . . hence the dreams about work :frown:

Hi Ladies! Today I revisited Cathe's new Lean Legs and Abs (with barre). Of the two new leg workouts, this is my fave. I really enjoy this workout. I followed it with Cardio Fusion which is always a good one for me. It felt perfect today.

Michelle, wow did you kill the workouts despite the lack of sleep!! Great job! I hope your DD is doing better. Both of my sisters have now been diagnosed with asthma (the one closest in age to me found out just last week), so I am figuring I am next (maybe not if we get out of Colorado.....I hope) so I have been reading up on it. No fun. So I hope she is better. Thanks so much for the app recommendation. Yep, sleep is scarce these days so anything to help is good!

Tami, I completely understand about being more nervous in a smaller group. You think it would be opposite. But, for me, in a small group, you can't avoid looking at them looking at you! :blushing: I am glad more people joined the class as it went along. It is hard to believe Bernie is so energetic given how sweet he looks in the photo! But I have known some labs well and know what you are talking about with the 'hyper times'. Thanks for the update on your job. I was thinking about it this morning as I was working out and going to ask. Little surprise we were on the same wavelength....again. But, seriously, I can't believe they briefed you on something so early....and then are leaving you hanging because they weren't quite ready yet. That's just wrong. I am sorry to hear it is impacting your sleep. Like you, between my twitching and tossing DH and everything on my mind......sleep just isn't happening much these days.

Well, no snow yesterday and back to sunny and nearly 60 today. I was kind of looking forward to a snowy Halloween. :ohwell:

    Happy Halloween!!!

    Good Afternoon Ladies,

I'm enjoying the next 5 days and taking a break from my project. At the end of an 8 hr shift my brain is usually so fried analyzing the ESL diction that I can honestly say I need it and hope to slip a massage in this week. Last night I decided to listen to my hypnosis sleep App and fell asleep but then woke up at 2am, then 4 and so on. I woke up refreshed but then at the 5:45 alarm clock my body was feeling sluggish. I'm not sure if subconsciously I was still preventing myself from enjoying my sleep as I never sleep well when hubby is away on a trip, so maybe I will wait until this weekend to enjoy my deep sleep. This morning I skipped class as I was feeling low on energy, missed dinner last night, so I opted for some laundry chores and made an appt to work out at 1:00pm. After folding and packing clothes away it was time to pull out my old Beach body gloves and jam with Chalene. My upper body was a bit stiff from the planks and plank walks in the agility ladder so I really did not want to lift weights again today. Afterwards it was Bob Harper Ultimate cardio 12min Glute challenge, what a nice segment! So after gray clouds the sun is back with a high of 73 so trick or treat and swim practice tonight again.

Tami- Yes the reviews were positive for that dvd except for those complaining of the female instructor. She actually seemed motivating to me and overall it looks like a fun KB dvd. I can imagine with a few people staring it would be nerve wrecking compared to a sea of faces.

Laurel- My DD developed asthma when she was around 7 and we were told it was physically induced asthma. She was always an active child but suffered with allergies from a toddler so this was a wierd diagnosis, needless to say the 2 hour swim practice does affect her performance and some nights are worst than others. This year the doctor put her on the machine and it has been a great aid in alleviating some of her bad days. Nowadays so many things are due to environmental factors it is hard to say what may affect you and hopefully it will skip you, lately my lipglosses have been causing an allergic reaction and I have used that brand for more than 3 years. Sometimes getting old is scary.:frown:

Ok off to shower and get some lunch in before the schedule picks up.

    Hi Ladies. Happy Halloween!

Last night I tried Flex Train per Tami's suggestion. I LOVED it! I was feeling really intimidated by her more advanced dvds. I just don't feel strong/ fit enough yet for them. Flex Train is way more my style. I come from working out with Jillian Michaels' dvds and some of the moves in Flex Train were similar. Feeling a nice burn in the inner thighs today from those sumos!

Michelle: Sorry to hear of your lack of sleep and your daughter's asthma. Hope she is doing better.:flowerforyou: You've been killing it with your workouts! I see your huge burns when you log. Crazy good!

Laurel: Ah too bad, a snowy Halloween sounds like it would have been wonderful! Great workout combos as usual! I also have Lean Legs and Abs on my to do list.

Tami: On fire as usual with your workouts! I bet you are so awesome in class and that is why you keep being asked lead.:drinker: Bernie is so adorable and I love his name!! So cute!

I'm thinking tonight maybe a Crossfire night! If not another stab at Butts and Guts.

    Have a great day all!:flowerforyou:

Hi Ladies ~ Spinning was an interesting format last night! She designed it as though we were on a true ride up a mountain that is near our area! So of course very hilly, then on a flat we would sprint to “get ahead of the group” etc. It was a great workout. Today is Legs and I am doing XT Cardio Leg Blast when I get home from work, DH won't be home. At lunch today I went to the Insane Abs class and it was an awesome 45 min class!

Laurel: Great combo today! I was going to give Great Glutes a try today (and may change my mind back to that) but feeling like Cardio Leg Blast sounds like a good one for today. Thanks so much for thinking about my job situation :frown: very nice of you. Yes, it is completely wrong and craziness that they dropped the bomb and then have left us all just hanging, wondering, etc. So we will see.

Michelle: Good that you are getting a little break from your project. Dang it on waking up several times before the alarm. If I do that I am so exhausted when my alarm does go off, it’s awful. Sounds like you re-energized yourself with some house chores and then got in a workout with Chalene & Bob, nice work! :drinker: I thought the same thing when I saw that girl as far as looking like a good instructor, motivational, etc…
Will you be taking the girls to any Halloween festivities or trick-or-treating?

Jessica: Scary face painting there! :glasses: ~ nice work! Happy Halloween. I am SO glad to hear you love Flex Train :drinker: I felt a million times over that you would, so I’m glad it worked out! Glad this won’t bring the dread factor and at the same time improve your fitness to work up to others. Thanks for the kudos on the workouts! They are feeling great and it’s fun mixing in some new ones this week as well. I like the name Bernie too  …. My hubby named him actually after a Yankee Baseball player at the time, Bernie Williams. We used to have a black lab named Jeter. Can you tell he loves the Yankees?!?

Happy Halloween everyone ~ talk to you tomorrow! Tami

    Good Afternoon ladies,

Halloween was a mix of treat or treating and then swim practice, needless to say it was a late night and we were exhausted when the late alarm went off this morning. I'm also feeling some soreness throughtout especially the obliques. It is storming here and I have opted for a lazy especially since I skipped Yoga today.:blushing: The girls came back with a load of candy, TG my sweet tooth is gone because those mini packs of M&Ms are my weakness. Tomorrow we are on the road as the eldest has to be at warm up by 7:45, so we have an early morning and long day ahead, hopefully with some good results.

Jessica- Flextrain looks like fun without the dread factor. How did Butts and Guts go?

Tami- what type of exercises do they do in your Ab class or is it a circuit base Ab class?

Laurel- Glad to hear the weather has turned around for you. The high temperatures eventually brought some wet weather so hopefully Fall will return next week for us.

    Back to my couch:tongue:

    Have a great weekend!:flowerforyou:

    Morning Ladies,

Just getting ready to go down into my basement to workout, but thought I would give a little chat before hand. Another busy day ahead of me, so I knew if I didn't get on here, I wouldn't post anything for another week. Have been keeping up with my Michelle Dozois Peak Fit workouts, and I have 2 weeks left of this challenge. I have not done measurements yet, but all of my clothes are pretty much falling off of me. I can say that I have lost 9 lbs in the last 6 weeks, so I am very happy with that. I can see a really big difference in my thighs. That and my stomach are the hardest areas for me to take off fat, and I'm happy with what I see. Not a completely flat stomach, but it sure looks way better. After these two weeks are done, I'm planning on starting Cathe's X-Train. I'm hoping that the Cathe rotation will give me even more definition that what I have right now.

My oldest just purchased her first vehicle! She has an older version of the Santa Fe that I have, and she put $1500 down, with a two year payment. Of course DH co-signed, but this will be a good way for her to increase her credit score.

Youngest is getting great grades, so she inherited the old vehicle that her sister had. It will do well enough to get to and from school.

DH and I have been busy with our parents. Mom is doing really well, and will start having her chemo treatments in the next couple of weeks. DH's dad has been having some medical issues, and just had surgery also. I think that DH has been at his parents house more in the last few weeks that ever before.

Well sorry that this is a short update, but I have a ton of things to get done yet today. Just never seems to get slower around here. Can't believe that it is going to be Christmas in just two months. :noway: Off to get PF Pure Strength 1 and Cardio Strength 1 done yet today.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Ladies! Sorry I missed you all on Friday. I got my strength workout in (STS Total Body), then the day went crazy. So no time for a second workout or to visit with you all.

Saturday was my rest day, so I started up with week 2 of Meso 2 yesterday. I followed the chest/shoulder/tricep workout with Hard Strikes, and did the premix that included the heavy bag work. Despite the fact I don't have a heavy bag, it was an okay addition. I kept some good weight on my wrists, and that helped. But, boy, by the end of that duo of workouts, my upper body was done. I even have some DOMS today, but nothing too bad.

Today was legs, which felt great. I followed it with Cross Fire Extreme. Good stuff!

Michelle, thanks for the information on asthma. It really is scary how the body changes as we age. My sister is still really struggling so back to the doctor she goes. She says she can barely get through a mile walk right now. It is really frustrating her. I hope they can do something to help her. It sounds like they have found a way to help your daughter, which is good.

Jessica, so glad you enjoyed Flex Train! It is a good, thorough workout that's for sure. I love the core work she included in that one as well as the Lean Legs workout.

Tami, sounds like a great Spinning class last week. This STS rotation is just flying by!! I was thinking this morning that we will be about half way through it at Thanksgiving. :noway: Seems like we just started.

Laurie, so great to see you!! And congratulations on the weight loss!! That is inspiring!!! I really hope you get equally good results with XTrain. I am curious to hear how you like it.

Well, must run!! See you tomorrow!

    Morning Ladies,

A busy and awesome weekend for my DD. She took 1, 3rd, 2nd, 1 and 2nd out of the 9 events so we were really happy as she has dropped her times signifcantly this year.:drinker: Usually I avoid her meets due to nerves but with such great results on Saturday she asked me to come back and so I did and her last race was the best highlight in the 100m as she came from fourth and placed second, missing 1st by .05 so I'm so happy and proud. This morning it was MM and those 101 push-ups ended our hour mark.:grumble: Then it was time for Zumba which is always more fun than a workout.

Laurie- Awesome results especially in those trouble areas which I too suffer with for sure. Awesome of the new car for your DD, geesh both girls are driving already! I hope the chemo treatments go great and your FIL recovers quickly.

Laurel- Sorry to hear your sister is affected so drastically, hopefully they find a good combo to alleviate those issues. After the meet this morning my DD sounded horrible so back on the machine tonight before practice.

Erika, Tami, & Jessica- Good Morning:flowerforyou:

Ok wierd short shift today so it is time to sign in.:grumble:

    Happy Monday Ladies ~

Friday was Upper Body Tri-Sets, Saturday I felt like a workout and since AfterBurn had been on my mind lately I did that one, the “Bonus Burn” pre-mix! Yesterday was STS #13 Shoulders/Chest/Tri’s then headed to Volleyball. We had the earlier games this week so didn't get time for my add-on. Anyone else feel the time change!??! I did this am. when my alarm went off  so will go with my rotation I did last week of bumping my leg workout to tomorrow a.m. and Insanity being my cardio in the p.m. I could not get myself out of bed. We are also having the cold temps and even some snow flurries on top of the shorter dark days. Will head to BootCamp tonight after work

Michelle: Sounds like your Halloween was another busy day & into the evening. The Ab class on Thursday is always a mixed variety of abwork either on the floor or on the ball sometimes. She also does standing abwork, plyo work and push-ups. It was originally set up off the Insane Abs dvd and she has added to it. We do 4 moves, each for one minute then onto 4 new moves, etc. It goes by quick but great abwork and my abs were actually sore last Friday! Congrats to your DD and her swim meet! :drinker:

Laurie: Great to hear from you and a huge congrats on your inches & weight loss! Yahoo. Hard work paying off and great job with MD Peak Fit rotation. You’ll have to check in once and a while to let us know how you are liking X-Train when you start that. It’s really got some great workouts and a fun rotation. That’s great to hear about your DD purchasing her first car. That’s so exciting.

Laurel: Fantastic job on the workouts! I had HardStrikes planned as my add-on yesterday but with the early games I had to get going ….. at any rate, I love following those workouts with a little KB style workout. Nice job today with legs and CrossFire X! That is amazing that we are almost to the half way point :noway: I truly can’t believe that. It definitely seems like we just started. I was going through Sat and writing up my month of workouts on my workout calendar & did realize I flipped back a couple pages to see my combos for the misc upper & lower days. So on paper it is definitely true … just “where does the time go?”

Hi Ladies! Today was cardio day so I did the X77 premix from Cathe's new X10 workout. This is such a fantastic workout. Tough, tough stuff but flys by. Can't get any better than that. Last week I talked myself out of yoga-style workouts, but today I felt like one. :ohwell: So I followed it with Kari Anderson's Angles, Lines, and Curves, which felt perfect. I may try to get a walk in later, but it is chilly (35) and quite windy right now, so I may wait until the wind calms down at least.

Michelle, congratulations to your DD on her fantastic meet!! No doubt you are proud of her! Great job with Muscle Mania and those push-ups! And Zumba! Sounds like a perfect combo of tough stuff and fun stuff!

Tami, I am feeling the time change.....no doubt. Last night about 8:00pm, I was looking at the clock thinking surely it was time for bed! :noway:  I did last until after 9:00pm, but it felt like a long evening. This is not my favorite time of year only because I don't like the long, dark evenings. I could really do without the time change, that's for sure. Great workouts over the weekend! I love that Afterburn premix!

    Until tomorrow!

Hi Ladies ~ BootCamp last night was lots of fun again! She even asked for feedback afterwards and I told her it was great, loved the variety! Again I think she is trying to make the class better. She did our stations and there were some new ones again. Good mix of upper, lower & abwork and then in between we did some HiiT circuits right in the spot we were at with mtn climbers, burpees, skaters and a couple others. This a.m. was my STS Leg workout. Might be missing the Insane X class tonight :ohwell: bur for a good reason …. DH offered to cook and I said I may just come home early for that! It’s always kind of a rush when I get home and if he is cooking I want to enjoy it & spend some more time with him.

Laurel: Fabulous combo today! :drinker: I have only done the X65 of her X10 workout. The “77” premix is no doubt going to be at the tops for a fantastic cardio . . . I was feeling it in the other one. Good stuff is right! I’m glad to not be the only one on the time change … yowsa! Last night I was doing the same thing. Granted, Monday night is always my latest in getting home but still. After I ate dinner I was ready to just get into bed and sleep. It was dark when I was still at work  That’s the worst! But on a positive note, in a month and a half or so we will slowly start getting longer days. I bet you are getting excited to see your mom at Thanksgiving & I’m sure she is looking forward to it too. :flowerforyou:

    Morning Ladies,

I had an early appt with the dentist for my youngest so I did TJ Cardio Party3 for a nice energetic start to my day, then I packed my clothes in hopes of making it to F.I.T but after droppin g my DD to school I noticed my sneakers and socks were missing. So I came home and decided on Cathe Friedrich Turbo Barre which may get me in the morning. Wowsza, forgot about her high reps in that dvd.:blushing: Now it is off to work.

Laurel- our nights have been chilly too and my heat has been used this week. It sound like a tough workout but I know you love Kari Anderson dvd for great stretching.

Tami- Glad to hear you chose dinner and quality time over the exercise, you can always burn those calories later.

Ok off to log in the system. Have a great day!:flowerforyou:

Hi Ladies! Today started with STS Disk 18/Back and Biceps. I went heavy with it and had jello arms by the end! :noway: I think I may be feeling it tomorrow. :ohwell: I took a bit of a break and then went into To The Max Extreme premix. Yowza! I was feeling it by the end. I think tomorrow I may back off a bit. :blushing:

Tami, I am so happy to hear the instructor for your Bootcamp class has done a complete turn-around from the summer classes. Sounds like a great routine! I am really getting excited for Thanksgiving now. We have our hotel reservations made, and Mom and I have discussed Thanksgiving dinner so my sisters and I can come prepared to do the cooking. It will be the first time I have spent Thanksgiving with my family since 1990--back when I was a newlywed!! :noway: So it should be fun! Enjoy your dinner with your husband!!

Michelle, sounds like you got some good workouts in despite the shoe and sock problem. I really enjoy that Turbo Barre workout. It is surprisingly tough, and I always feel it in my hips the next day. Hope you aren't too sore tomorrow! Glad to hear your mornings have cooled off finally. I love cool autumn mornings! Our friends in the panhandle of Florida have started sending us housing ads to entice us to move down there when DH retires in June. With the dryness beginning to get both DH and I again here, it is tempting, so, who knows, I may be on your side of the country this time next year!!

    Enjoy the day!

Hi Ladies ~ Dinner was so great last night! He ended up opting to take me out instead (his afternoon was a little busier than planned) so that was fine. We went to this fun little authentic Italian restaurant and it was early enough that it was quiet, great service and very relaxing. I didn’t have an ounce of guilt for missing Insanity :blushing: Michelle was right, I have many MANY opportunities to burn those cals! This a.m. was STS #15 Back/Bi’s which felt great and I will be headed to Spinning after work.

Michelle: Great job getting in your workout, even if it was Plan B  I have done that before and it is so frustrating. I now have an extra of everything in my gym bag that I just leave in there “just in case”. Yes, as I mentioned above dinner was great and we haven’t had a ton of quality time lately with him being gone and then straight into a work schedule, gone on weekends, etc. so it was nice. We laughed a lot and it was just really relaxing.

Laurel: Great job on Back/Bi’s today and the jello arms! Yowza is right adding on To The Max Xtreme :noway: for some cardio. Sheesh-ola! You deserve a nice break after that. Thanksgiving sounds like it will be absolutely wonderful and one for the memory book forsure! :flowerforyou: WOW, that is a long time since you’ve had Thanksgiving with them.
