I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving. I have been in somewhat of a slump but decided to do something about it today. I walked 9.33 miles today, and took 21, 342 steps. No DVDs, all steps were taken at the playground earlier today with my dog and walking at a brisk pace on my treadmill.

:flowerforyou: I came home last night from Thanksgiving dinner at 10 PM and was about to post that I had the lowest step count in months when I realized that hubby was busy at the other computer (he signed a new associate for his business while we were at dinner) so I turned on the last part of Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and did my own version Leslie Sansone's "Walk and Jog" to the music in the parade (I fast forwarded through the talking) and ended up with over 11,000 steps before I went to bed

Pes, you inspired me to get away from the computer and get up and walk, thank you.

Barb, a big congratulations as you've made goal! Very impressive as it speaks to your determination and stick-to-itive-ness. It also makes me feel good that I can be an inspiration at times as you have been a tremendous inspiration to me and others. (BTW, I love the new avatar.)

Tonight was just over 8 miles. 2.1 miles leisurely walking (yes it was at an overcrowded mall), 3 miles brisk pace 4% incline on treadmill and 3 miles using Leslie Sansone's "Walk Your Belly Flat." :drinker:

I tried to post last night but maintenance was being performed on the site. I did 2 miles of leisurely walking and 2 miles using a Leslie Sansone DVD, for a 5-mile total.

:flowerforyou:  Good Morning, Pes, It looks like everybody else has vanished. I tried to post last night and I was supposed to start the new thread for women ages 50+ and got stopped by the site being down, then our internet was down when I got up, then we had a meeting to go to, and I finally got a chance to get back on MFP.

Now we have company. gotta go

Good afternoon Pes, I went to visit family for Thanksgiving. I didn't do a lot that day, but walked for several hours in a mall the next two days. Getting back in my regular routine again now! Trying some interval training where I keep changing intensity! Have the rest of a great day!

Last week went pretty well. I didn't lose, but, I didn't gain! Well, I lost 2 kidney stones, but that's another story ...

I walked on my treadmill nearly every day. My goal has been a minimum of 2 miles, but, prefer 3-4. I stuck with it most of last week, even with 5 extra house guests for the entire week, and cooking for Thanksgiving! My average was 2.25 miles per day on my treadmill, at a 4% incline. Not bad, given the holiday and all.

So, it's back to the grindstone this week with the meals.

I'm a little discouraged because I had my weight at 180, but, when I went to the doctor today, their scale said 187. I realize I was dressed and it was late morning, rather than first thing in the morning when I weigh at home, and every scale is different, but still. Seeing that old familiar number 187 was like hitting me with a brick. Ugh! I've lost what I've lost, regardless of the scale I use, so I'm trying to be positive. Still .... I hate that old number! That was 7 pounds ago!

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: two miles with Leslie, 45 minute walk with the dogs at the dog park (at one point there were six poodles playing together, too cute  ), lots of dog walking on the hill, and 20 minutes on the exercise bike....I'll be at 14,000 steps by the time I go to bed
  • Hello,
I wanted to let you know I haven't checked out. I got some good walking in the day after turkey day plus I went to Zumba that saturday. But since Sunday I haven't been feeling my best. So this week I haven't really done anything. But you guys keep up the good work!!!

I have to get on the ball. I feel so far behind, only walked 2 miles today. Attended Weight Watchers tonight and lost .8 lbs. in two weeks. That's unacceptable, I will be in WW forever at this rate. I hope to do better tomorrow. (At least I didn't gain!)

over 16000 steps today and almost an hour on the exercise bike plus dog park and line dance
all needed to burn off the chicken curry with rice at the Vietnamese restaurant for lunch today.

I bought a new scale today and I'll probably weigh a few pounds high tomorrow after all the sodium today.

I did my walking yesterday going shopping, walking dogs, riding the exercise bike and generally rushing around.....Leslie and I never got together to walk    even so i got 13475 steps:smile:

Today is my cleanse day , it snowed last night, and the wind is howling so I'm likely to be staying indoors and taking it easy.

My shopping yesterday was successful...I tried on pants in a smaller size and they fit but I didn't like the style so I just bought a sweater (red with a snowflake design, and made from 50% animal fiber----wool and alpaca  )

    Enjoy your Sunday.

I walked 16,583 steps or 7.3 miles today. Almost all walking was done on treadmill, except for a couple of short walks with my dog. It's cold out there!

:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: cold weather and cleanse day combined to keep me somewhat sedentary and indoors but I got the 11,000 steps I needed to put a sticker on my calendar.......the last 500 steps were jogging while watching figure skating on TV......hubby has gotten much more tolerant about me bouncing around in the living room while we watch TV

I walked a total of 19,166 steps today or over 8.5 miles. 3.5 miles were spent walking around a college campus and 5 miles were completed using my treadmill. (Not too shabby!):smokin:

    Hi Friends,
How is everyone?? It appears all are doing well and I'm so glad:flowerforyou: I haven't fallen off the planet - I tried something new for the last month and a week. I haven't posted since 10/30!! I can't believe it! I was doing 30 day Shred on another thread (hey, that rhymes) and it's taken me longer than the "prescribed" 30 days , LOL!! I think it's going to end up being more like a 40 day shred:laugh: Great w/o and I've lost inches and not so many pounds but I feel a whole lot stronger. I'm going to start my walking back up and I'll be back checking in with you ladies. I love my new sneaks (sketchers walking shoes) I wear them all the time and I have happy feet!
I love all the new pics of everyone ~ they make me smile. Just wanted to check in with you all and see how everyone is doing.
So far today ... 2,269... a low morning. I'm giong to be like Lashawn and run around the office or something.
    Check you all later,
    Janet:heart:
  • Hello!! Today is my first trying to do some steps after being sick most of last week. I don't know how many steps I took (left pedo at home) but I did walk around my office alot today plus did some Christmas shopping during lunch (about 45min of moving around). So I guess that's a good start or restart should I say. I am determined to get some cardio in tonight. Janet, I've been doing the 30 day shred this month too. This week is level 3 and I know it will be a beast (especially since I had to take last week off). I lost some inches but no pounds.

    Have a great day.

:flowerforyou: Janet, it's good to hear from you again. I'm glad you were doing some great exercise.......we've missed you

:flowerforyou: leshawn, sorry you've been sick and glad you are feeling better and back posting.....walking around indoors and shopping may not be as intense as the 30 day shred but compared to all the people who are sitting and lying around all the time, it's fabulous.,.....I read in a magazine article from a woman who lost over a hundred pounds. "if you're moving, you're losing"

:flowerforyou: Pes, you are moving all the time...I am impressed and inspired......I made a new rule for myself.......I have to walk with Leslie for at least 15 minutes before I can post on MFP
  • Hey I know I got some serious steps in yesterday (don't remember how many) because I was all over Walmart, etc for hours doing my shopping. Today will likely be a repeat of yesterday but today I have on my pedo so I'll know how many steps I took. Great job everyone!!!

    Hi Everybody,
Ended up w/ 6,233 steps yesterday + 20min TJ ~ I'll take it and so far today I'm at 4,193 and day 8 level 3 of the Shred is on for tonight + 35min of FIRM for some variety. Hope everyone's having a super day.
Just wanted to check in at least once for the day!

Will check back after my w/o later,
    Janet:heart:

OK, I'm back ... I hope! I've been so busy! I've been getting in at least 2 miles on the treadmill each day ... usually 3, but I make myself do at least 2. Not nearly what you all are doing! Holy Cow! Makes me want to get off this computer right now and go on the treadmill.

Pes, how's the work thing going? How are you finding the time to walk all those steps? Wow!

Know what? I think I WILL get on that treadmill! See you all tomorrow!

So happy to see you, Janet, Susy and LeShawn. Glad to see everyone is getting some exercise in. Tonight finished 8 miles or 18,182 steps. 2 1/2 miles of leisurely walking then 92 minutes of brisk walking on the treadmill. From where I sit, 115 pounds (my goal, not Weight Watchers) seems like such a far distance, but I have to remind myself to take one step at a time. Have a great night everybody. See you tomorrow.:flowerforyou: :drinker:

    Barb,

When I see how far you've come, I have a real respect for your ability to see things through.

Good morning! I did end up on the treadmill again last night. You all are such an inspiration! But, I had a heck of a time trying to fall asleep afterward. I guess I didn't cool down enough or something.

I haven't done any exercise videos in a million years. Seriously, it's been a long time. If I were to add an exercise video to do in addition to walking, what would everyone recommend? There are so many out there, I figure I can benefit from everyone's experiences and opinions. Thanks!

    Hi Susy,

What a nice avatar, how pretty you look! So glad you got yourself on that treadmill last night. I know it's difficult with everything going on, but you will feel better overall for exercising. The best possible DVD I can recommend is Leslie Sansone's "Walk Away The Pounds Ultimate Collection - 4 Complete Workouts on One DVD." It is on sale now at Target for $10, and here's why I love it so . . . I have a number of exercise tapes, but for walking, no one does it better than Leslie Sansone. She's been doing it the longest of anyone and has created so many tapes, you are bound to find what you are looking for, from the neophyte to a seasoned walker. The ultimate DVD rocks because it gives you the option of completing anywhere from 1 mile to 10 miles (if you chose to do the 4 workouts back to back.) A stretch band is also included since one or two of the workouts incorporate some light strength training into the walking routine. The last workout on this tape is 4 miles and is called a "Super Challenge." This is my all time favorite workout in her entire collection. How can anyone go wrong with up to 10 miles of walking workout and light stregth training, all for $10? Faith

Thanks for the information. There are just sooooooooo many videos out there!

I'm starting to feel like a fat burning machine!
OK, maybe that's going a little too far, but, with my hubby out of town, I've been able to get on the treadmill a lot this week, and am feeling like I'm actually getting some results. My wedding band is actually feeling a little loose these days! It's been a while since I was able to say that!

However, hubby comes home tonight and will be home for the next 3 weeks. Eek! I hope I don't lose the momentum! :ohwell:

:flowerforyou: Susy, I learned about Leslie Sansone on this thread and now I have three of her workouts ( two of thanks to a generous gift from a friend    ) I love them. Sometimes I do only a mile or 20 minutes or whatever amount of time I have available. Leslie shows you ways to make the walk more strenuous or less strenuous and sometimes adds arm movements to up the calorie burn. they are so great for indoors when the weather outside won't let you walk (or late at night when it's dark outside) I know what you mean about finding more time to exercise with hubby out of town.

:flowerforyou: Faith, how are things going with your job?:flowerforyou: Just take it one day at a time and you will reach your goal. I started at 183 in January and am at 117 now......you can do it too.

We went to a holiday open house this afternoon and I followed my party rule of putting my energy into talking to people instead of focusing on the food. I had a few cashews, four whole wheat crackers with homemade salmon spread, and some fresh veggies with no dip  this evening hubby and I are watching a movie and taking turns on the exercise bike.

My silk undershirt arrived today and it's beautiful and warm......also the size 4 jeans I ordered came and they fit perfectly so I ordered more.

    hugs:heart::heart: Barbie
