Don't put limitations on yourself! First and foremost, putting bone shapes aside, everyone can have those bodies. I said it, yeah.. everyone. (I meant ladies, not dudes..) If you are a woman you CAN look like that. NONE of those ladies wake up, drink a cup of coffee then sit at a desk working for 8 hours. NONE of those girls work to keep a house clean, and pay bills living paycheck to paycheck. Those girls have a JOB. What you see is their job. If you had 40+ hours a week to work out, prepare the best meals (or have them prepared), get the best skin care available and whatnot.. You would be there.
Women have been screwed over mentally, first the ideal was to make you WANT to look like that. Then when you fail at it because you lack the money/time/drive to do so, the knee-jerk response is 'that's unrealistic'. There are a LOT of transformations that people make from being 5' tall ladies weighing in at 200+ lbs, that after INTENSE SACRIFICE, and INTENSE TIME DEVOTION they end up BEING models, or at least they COULD be. This kind of thing is becoming more noticable in the media with the 'extreme makeovers' and other such shows.
These VS models don't look FIT they look THIN. Sure there are some muscles there, but not much. They just have a low bodyfat percentage based upon diet and exercise (probably mostly cardio). This website (MFP) should be about showing possibilities and inspiration not based upon finger-pointing and the ever-present cries of 'PHOTOSHOP!!'.
There is a reason those ladies in VS are seen as a 'ideal' bodytype for women. They are MODELS. By definition they are supposed to show you what YOU could be. Not show you a 'nya, nya I'm thin and you're not' attitude. From what I can tell these ladies seem to have a BLAST being young, thin, reasonably wealthy (if not insanely so), and famous. Have fun in what your life offers ladies! These models work hard at their job, and their job is to LOOK exactly like THAT.
Actually, not everyone can look like that. . Otherwise anyone who wanted to be a model could put the work in and viola, here's a career. Genetics plays a very big role in what we look like - at any stage of leanness.
DO put limitations on your expectations. A VS model might be an inspiration but she shouldn't be a aspiration. She's a genetic gifted person - top 1% in the world in all likelihood. Manage your expectation for your life, body type, genetics and what sort of results are possible. We would have a lot less 'this isn't working!' posts if people, especially women, learned this tough lesson. I myself am constantly having to relearn it.
I agree! Everyone can't just go out and exercise/eat right and BAM your a supermodel. There are genetics involved and other things.0 -
She is such a bombshell.0

She is beautiful but in all honesty she is a little bit chubby (not fat but definitely a little overweight). That doesn't detract from her beauty though.
For fashion yes she is! But everyday life I think she looks fine. I'm glad for girls like her, who aren't "stick skinny," getting into fashion, I think it helps normal/not super model people be more realistic about their weight. Not that I thnk It's ok to be overweight. I just mean that we all don't have to look like the sterotypical super model. Sorry but not everyone is going to be 6 foot and a size 2.0 -

I guess I'm not mentally screwed over, because I don't look at this image and want to look like them.
I look at that image and understand that no one looks like that, not even those models. I understand the power of makeup, photography, lighting and photoshop. That's not a knee-jerk reaction or jealousy, that's "real" life. Professional images are retouched, often to unrealistic proportions.
Do I have to go on?0 -

first thing i saw was her roll. then her enormous boobs <<<< jealous. of the boobs not the roll. but, i just prefer thinner & toned bodies.0

Your perception is off. She's not chubby at all. Certainly not overweight in the slightest.0 -
Ummmm......did anyone else notice in the Victoria Secret picture above that the blonde model doesn't have a belly button???
I had to look it up!

A lot of magazines actually photoshop her belly button in.
And on the Photoshop front...we needs to stop comparing ourselves to models anyway cause they don't even look like themselves.

This is what I mean. If when you bend or twist and you have a "roll" and not still flat you are chubby. That's crazy! This girl is not overweight or chubby but because you can pinch some fat on her and she's not super lean either by diet or exercise she is labeled fat. That is the biggest problem. That to me is the bigger issue at hand that is distorting what we are suppose to accept as normal.0

Here is another example:
Gorgeous before and after...but not exactly a fair representation of their body in the magazine ready photo.

I understand what you are saying but unfortunately a lot of young women (and older women) don't make the distinction. I think that is where the outrage comes in. Setting up unrealistic expectations women put on themselves. People see these images and think their body is wrong for not being smooth and dimple free, when the models aren't even that smooth.
I feel just as sorry for the models because it is almost saying "the true image of you is not good enough". I bet they deal with the same self esteem issues we do because of this unrealistic image we are seeing every day.0 -
she is not chubby at all! I would bend her over a barrel and show her the 50 states0

MY NEW INSPIRATION = Model Kate Upton !!!! Cant believe the media is calling her FAT! And saying horrible things about her, shes sooooooo beautiful!
A long way from perfect by my standards. Look at the upper thighs and the belly area. Nope. She could be a LOT more toned before she had to worry about looking "skinny".0 -
Is it weird that i just want her swimsuit?
Yeah, she's gorge and i want my boobs to look that fantabulous in a bikini but look at the BIKINI!0 -
i think she's beautiful! i would like to have a body similar, but not exactly like hers. i'm aiming for a little more muscle definition, but she is gorgeous and has nice curves.0
-
I don't find her attractive but I think she has a smokin' body. Not fat by any account. Just absurd.0
-
MAYBE SO, BUT THISE BOOBS AREN''T FROM GOD!!!!0
-
If anyone thinks that is fat, there is something wrong with them. Her body is amazing. She has curves in all the right places. Curvy is so much better than skin and bones!!!! It is my opinion I know, but the musclar look on women is not that attractive either. Stop thinking too much ladies, men I am friends with love the curves.0

Her perception is NOT off, eveyone has their own likes and tastes and opinions. Some think shes chubby some don;t. There is no right or wrong ,just personal opinion.0 -
My goal is to also have a body just like her. I would have to have implants for the boobs though. Not something that I would do. I already have the curves just need to tone. Absolutely gorgeous!0

I'm a photographer/photog resource creator and I wish more people would realize that this is the **** that makes them look GOOD! Most people are not even close to being perfect, even most models. come the freak on. It's just about making ourselves look better. With Britney and whatsherface Jessica Alba, it's just stupid that they made them even smaller when they are great the size they are naturally. geeesh.0 -
She's not fat. She's fat for a model though. That's all. Case closed.0
-
She needs toning. You can be little but over fat.0
-
All in the eye of the beholder! Yes, back in the 50s and before that, women were more curvy and looked like this model....so nothing unusual..she's just "normal." I'm sure society will start moving towards this figure in the future...you can only hold onto skin and bones for sooo long before women get tired of having to meet "THAT" standard...and Men probably would rather a more curvy woman.......but maybe they don't? Who knows...and who really cares what they like!!!!0

She is beautiful but in all honesty she is a little bit chubby (not fat but definitely a little overweight). That doesn't detract from her beauty though.
She is deff NOT overweight. She has meat on her bones.. which makes her healthy.
She's a good example of what a healthy person (who isn't looking for a more muscular body) could aim for.
so, because a person has less meat on their bones, i.e. less body fat, that makes them UNhealthy? Um, no.0 -

MEDIA IS DUMB STUPID AND IDIOTIC...THIS IS WHAT A REAL WOMAN LOOKS LIKE....CURVACEOUS AND SEXY....GET IT KATE0 -

The body you have is the perfect body for you. It is up to you how you take care of it. Obviously I have not been doing a good job taking care of mine but I am trying to change that. Looking at other people and wishing I looked like them only discourages me. I am never going to look like someone else. I will always be me. Even if I lose the extra 86lbs I have left to go I will still only look like me. I am a one of kind creature created by my heavenly Father to be me. Ladies especially we need to learn to not compare ourselves to each other. We need to love one another not critique each others bodies. We all have faults and we all have strengths. What not choose to be an encouragement?0

I saw that!!! Half the women in the country would give their eye teeth for a figure like that!!!!0
-
Why aren't all models like this?? :noway:0
