Masculinity declined when men stopped being gentlemen.0

Honestly: Do you think there's a masculinity crisis in America? Are more men allowing women to dominate relationships?
Says the man who was deleted from my FL because he whined all day long and said things just to make the ladies either swoon or feel bad for him? Intentional or not, it's not very masculine to cry for attention.0 -
LOL.
that's all.0 -

THAT'S how you measure masculinity???? Whether a man 'dominates' a woman????
How about you measure masculinity by courage, respect, ambition, responsibility, character and THEN ask the question.
but yeah.... I suspect you be trollin'... good luck :drinker:0 -
I think both/all genders need to get over themselves and be accepting but...
...I'm just gonna wait for the fireworks.
You beat me to it! Have another:

There def is one. Guys dont have manly role models anymore. Men are doing what women were doing back in the say with have small dogs, small cars, eating salads instead of fries, skinny jeans, purses, opting for frees-by instead of throwing a football, reading books at the pool instead of swimming, drinking fruity drinks, listening to boy groups like One Direction instead of man music, going with other guys to watch romantic comedies, wearing makeup, talking about feelings, and opting for pink instead of other colors.
W...T...F??? This has got to be the most asinine thing I've ever read on here, unless someone can explain to me how having a small dog and eating salad = decreased masculinity.0 -
I hope all these women posting are using their laptops in the kitchen...or there will be hell to pay. :drinker:0

Honestly: what does masculinity even mean?
Hey, I know. Let's take all the qualities humans have ever had: personality, strengths, weaknessess, everything. THEN let's split all that into two groups, let's call it human-1 and human-2. Then all we have to do is make sure everybody only chooses from one group.
You want to deadlift 2x your weight AND wear lipstick? NO.
You want a chihuahua AND an automatic weapon? NO.
Maybe talk about your feelings with your partner while you're playing Team Fortress 2? DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.
This is great fun for the whole human race.0 -
:flowerforyou:I wanted to pull his man card............yes there is a masculinity crisis! Grow a pair and start acting like men again. Sweep a woman off her feet...........treat her like a queen............and reap the rewards!!! There's a few details to work in the middle too but c'mon guy's!!!!
I love you!0 -
Yes. But not just in America.
It's fed by popular media - just try to find a husband/dad on most TV shows that isn't some kind of an imbecile.
And, what DominiqueSmall said. And 2muchsauce.
But you should drop the "dominate relationships" part of your question, because that's just going to get you into a mess. ;o) And it's also a different subject entirely.0 -

OMG YESS!0 -
no I dont although there does seem to be more same sex relationships-
relationships are supposed to be a partnership that you work on together as a team....equally giving your all for the good of the team....not "you are the leader and you are the follower" type of mentality ...of either sex....this is not the neanderthal stage of the game when men thought women didnt have a brain or feelings and were theirs to abuse....0 -
Yup, definitely a masculinity crisis.0

After reading a guys post from yesterday "needing advice not related to fitness" I I would say yes. This was a 30 yr old man asking for advice on how to get himself to love again and how he doesn't know if he'll ever find it again.
I wanted to pull his man card............yes there is a masculinity crisis! Grow a pair and start acting like men again. Sweep a woman off her feet...........treat her like a queen............and reap the rewards!!! There's a few details to work in the middle too but c'mon guy's!!!!
Oh, um, hi there0 -
I think for the most part men are too manly. I think a lot of them need to lighten up and it makes it easier on everyone. Just saying...0
-

When I think masculinity crisis I think skinny jeans and shaving everything everywhere..........When I read your post I think chauvinistic a$$hat.....just saying......
I like you more each passing day. *nuzzles*0 -
Wow, what an extremely misogynistic conversation. You mean women making decisions for their lives (ie. wearing some pants) means men aren't men? Wrong.
As long as they have an X and Y chromosome, they're men. Get over your dated definitions of gender roles.0 -
^^^ this!!0

LOL at pink being labeled a girl's only colour. Once colours showed up in infant clothing (used to be all white DRESSES for all genders), it was thought that pink was a colour for boys because it was "strong" and blue was "dainty". Soooo. BS on that.
My boyfriend listens to a lot of Korean boy bands. I asked him if it bothered him that more than half the fan base was women. He says "Nope, I have a lot of women to look at that way".
I've never had a problem with finding guys who were the stereotype of a "real man", so I'm going to go with no on the crisis.0 -

^^ this exactly!!0 -
Well, what is your view on masculinity?
What does it mean to 'wear the pants' in a relationship?
There could be a question of are more women taking hold of male dominated jobs, but that doesnt have to do with America loosing it's masculinity just because the CEO of "Major Company A" is a woman.
If you define masculinty as a guy wearing a flat rimmied baseball cap and going clubbing and picking up chicks left and right then I guess not. Lots of that is still going around and will continue to this day.
If you define masculinity as a gentleman holding a door opened for his lady (or any lady) and taking the time to be a dedicated boyfriend/husband/lover and supply what he needs for his woman/children, then sadly, yes I think that America has a problem with males acting like men.
But thats my two cents. Define masculinty how you will, and take from my post, what you will.0 -
clearly NOTHING is more manly than illiteracy.0

Agreed, I see too many men, and even worse boys these days that are being brought up like girls and don't even know what it means to be manly. Wearing skinny jeans and eye makeup does not a man make LOL.0 -
Do you think there's a masculinity crisis in America?
Hold on, lemme ask my wife.0 -
Ever notice how in all tv shows and media, men are portrayed by weak idiots who let woman walk all over them. Don't believe me. watch Two in a half men. They're the worst offenders.0
-
We have an overabundance of GUYS trying to pass themselves off as MEN. Being a man has nothing to do with who dominates in a relationship, but much to do with responsibility, accountability, courage, and strength.
I'm one of the lucky ones - I'm married to a real man. But I fear for women of the next generation...0
