I'm new here, very introverted but wanting to be able to relate to someone. Where do I start?2

Well day 3 of my new “lifestyle” and it’s going great! Joined my local YMCA and have been to water aerobics every day this week. Think I’m going to have to skip tomorrow, fighting a pinched nerve in my hip and the dramatic increase in exercise seems to be aggravating it. But, staying within my calories and trying to change the way I plan meals. So maybe no exercise tomorrow, but will definitely stay on track with eating!3

Hi everyone!
Well, it's taken a week since my aunt's memorial to find time to even come on MFP and read posts.
Thank you to all who posted condolences about my aunt's passing. The services were difficult, but we got through them. My mother is doing okay, but still dealing with all of the aftermath of cleaning out her sister's home.
As for my car, yes, the other guy's insurance is covering the repair costs and my rental. And no, thankfully no one was hurt. My car is supposed to be done tomorrow--I really miss it, so I'm looking forward to picking it up.
I have one final cherry for the top of sundae of crazy weeks. My sisters and I traveled together to MI for my aunt's services, and drove back to Chicago on Friday. My husband stayed home to work and take care of Gunner, my 12 y/o dog who has been showing some signs of anxiety recently. We've noticed that he has been getting into the tub or closet while we're away at work which is behavior he usually only exhibits when there's something that really scares him, like fireworks or a thunderstorm. He's knocked over a floor lamp a couple of times and even gotten up on the desk in the den and knocked everything off or it. We started closing off the extra bedrooms a couple of months ago due to this.
Well, on Friday my husband got home from work shortly before I arrived home from MI. Luckily he texted to warn me what I would be walking into. Gunner had gotten into a closet with some tools and cut his leg. He was okay, but there was blood everywhere! Inside the closet, it looked like someone had been murdered--blood on the walls, the inside of the closet doors, the floor, etc. The dog then proceeded to turn our bathroom into a horror show by tracking blood all over the floor, in the tub, on the toilet, and even all over the sink--yes, he apparently jumped up on top of our sink. He's 80 lbs, and way to big to be up there.
So I got to help clean all of the house safer for him when he's home alone. Knocking on wood, but so far this week he's been okay. The vet recommended leaving the TV on b/c she thinks as his hearing is going, outside noises that he can't identify might be spooking him. We also have him on a melatonin supplement--though he decided this morning that he doesn't care for those "treats" anymore. We are taking it day by day with him right now.2 -
Welcome to all the new people to this thread. You will find lots of support and motivation along your journey. It's a great group.
@katrenaj and Nikion901 Family stressors, especially health related ones, are enough to mess us up. Sleeping, eating, anxiety....it's not easy. But as Niki pointed out, you can't forget to take care of you, too, easy as that sounds, I know it's not.
@cfisher71 You HAVE started. Just come join the group, post, and find support. We are all on the same journey.
@glassgirlw2018 Congrats on your new Lifestyle changes! One day at a time, one meal at a time. You've got this.
@skinnyjeanzbound So sorry to hear about the dog issues! It sounds like your vet may have come upon the problem. I hope he continues to do better. I hope you get your car back today. It's been what seems like a long time. Time to get your life back to normal.
I'm sure to see a gain tomorrow. Have had Oriental food 3 days this week. I'll drink lots of water today but still.....
Happy Thursday everyone!1 -

Thursday Truth ... Weighing in on Thursday to be 7 days after previous weigh-in. Weight hasn't budged in the last week ... this tells me that I have been eating at my maintenance level. Of course, there has been a caloric deficit over what MFP calculated as my sedentary NEAT (TDEE less exercise), so I know that me my own circumstances are that my metabolism and energy needs are lower than the norma average for a 73 year old woman who is 5'2.5" tall. (My BD is 9 days from now)
I am not making an adjustment to my intake calories because I know I will not stop eating when the counter gets to the goal caloric allowance for the day ... nor will I eat up to that goal on days that I eat lighter ... still working on my consistency issues.
@skinnyjeanzbound ... oh, poor gunner! He must be absolutely frantic home alone! Poor old guy.0 -
@skinnyjeanzbound sorry to hear about Gunner. Prayer for fast healing. Hope the vet can help him not sure if this would help an item close to him with your scent. Riley has actually started showing signs of food and bone aggression which is also not fun to deal with. Sad thing is we just won our puppies to be happy and safe. Great news on car!
@ new people- welcome
Thursday truth over the last 2 years I am realizing how alone I really am0 -

@amberkins… I had Gastric Sleeve in August 2016. No judgement from me. It’s still important to log your food, etc so MFP is a great place to be. And I can say I’ve not had any judgement on this thread.
@Katrena… hope your daughter gets better soon.
@glassgirlw2018… I loved water aerobics. I’m only walking right now (trying to go back to the basics after my sleeve which means a much stricter diet and only walking since I’m on lower calories). But I loved how much of a work out I got during my AQUA POWER classes.
@Karen… hopefully the tv does the trick for Gunner. It’s no fun watching anyone (dog or human) get older and have those struggles. Good luck.
@canyonGeek… My local gym has two different water aerobic classes…one they played music and the other they did not. I think it depends on the program they follow.
@Holly… you’ve got us on this thread. {HUG}. Nice loss this week!

AFM…I’m trying to get back on track. I’ve been doing pretty good but I’m running into weekends of crap eating. Gastric Sleeve helped lose the weight fast right away but it is certainly not the magic bullet some people think it is (I went in knowing that it’s just a tool and that I have to use that tool). Dang carbs just slide down too easily. I’m really trying to focus on getting my protein first and follow it up with low carb/starch veggies and fruits.
I’m heading on a road trip today though and they are always tough. This one for 2 reaasons. I’m heading to a funeral from a 25 year old granddaughter of a dear friend. Terrible circumstances. My friend has lost both parents and a brother in a short period of time and now this. Plus I’m driving 6 hours by myself. I’ve decided to allow myself a diet root beer. My doctor has okayed fizzy sodas as long as they are caffeine free. I’m hoping I can fool myself that I’m getting a huge treat!
Looks like some good weeks so far (although its early on a Friday so not too many posted yet). Remember, no gain is a win!! Let’s make sure we’re not too hard on ourselves. Have a great week!

Goals for my weekend: plan and shop for healthy meals/snacks (we basically have nothing around here after vacay, haha). Catch up on laundry. Take a walk even though it's bitterly cold. Take some time for myself and paint my terribly chipping nails. Go and see my brand new niece who had the audacity to make her debut while I was out of state!!! Haha
Hiya to all the newcomers! I'm kinda new, too but I love this group! We just started a new spring challenge- hope you join us and we can keep spurring one another on to success. If you need new friends- please feel free to request me! I love being interactive and I have an open food diary (so all my good and bad decisions are laid bare for the voyeurs of the world- hahahahaha! Just kidding- I do it for the accountability, that's very helpful to me.)
Have a super weekend everyone!6 -
Sorry to let the group down. I KNEW I'd gain this week. 4 out of the 7 days I've had Oriental food, whether as a meal or leftovers. This week my goal is no eating out or having anyone surprise me with dinner. Did I love it all? You bet, but the scale wasn't happy with it. So, this week is a new week and I'm ready. Have a great weekend everyone! Welcome to the newcomers. You will meet a lot of great people and get a lot of support. And, @mnwalkingqueen You have us. We may not see you in person but we are here for you. You are not alone!

I'm surprise I've lost this week, I haven't been logging and only went to the gym once BUT I've been working everyday on purging, cleaning, organizing and putting away of my craft items. I had a room I couldn't even walk into because of all the crap. I've thrown away bags of broken supplies, extra papers and magazines, then donate about 5 bags of supplies to the craft club at the local high school and library. I feel so accomplished for tackling this and ridding myself of a lot of guilt of hoarding supplies,7 -

I am really shocked. I have been working out 6 out of 7 days for the past three weeks. My eating is a bit better, although I have not been tracking so I cannot provide proof. I stopped in to see a nutritionist I use now and again. I have an appointment next week. So now I have to log because that's the basis of the appointment.
Had blood work run. So many markers were off. Docs office said come in. Doc said, everything looks good, I don't know why you're here. BUT in the meantime I had totally freaked out and gone online (use MayoClinic as resource not crazy internet stuff) and concluded that I am iron deficient. But why are platelets 100 points above top of range? I expected this oh so cautious Doc to order more tests, but he was not alarmed and said everything's AOK. BUT.. he's my GYN. I love him to death but now I think I need someone who might be more informed ... cause my sugars are out of wack... and I'm gaining weight when I should be losing. P.S. Thyroid tests came back normal. So I'll go see endocrinologist and see what he has to say. Plus iron deficient explains why I am soooo darn tired sometimes. As in, go back to sleep for the WHOLE DAY if I could (and I could and did a week ago Saturday)...
So... I have a good renewed habit with gym. And I am still drinking 6-8 cups of water a day. Goal this week is to track, cause I suspect I will find real clues there!! Cookies can be killers even if you are exercising

@canyonGeek whoops yes it is! I thought my starting weight was 308. I forgot i lost 2lbs when i weighed in at the doctors last Thursday. I mentally still thought i was that high, I'm not used to seeing the scale go down. So it should be -.4canyonGeek wrote: »@moodybear2003 That's awesome. Just checking in. Still down 130 lbs and doing great. Death of mother in law, job family exercise and complacency keep me away. My liver doctor says the only thing that will make my liver improve is to lose more weight. I’m still 20 from my goal. I have been stable since Thanksgiving, went through a feeling of invincibility Now worried about regain and not losing the last bit. It’s always something! It’s way better 130 pounds lighter.9

Spring Break starts today! I took the week off and going to spend it with my daughter and granddaughter. We are going to San Antonio and then Houston for the later part of the week. Planning to do all the touristy things like Sea World, Riverwalk and the Alamo while in San Antonio and then see family in Houston maybe go to the zoo or something there. I'm not going to plan every second of each day just going to play it by ear.
Weight loss this week is going slow but at least I didn't gain. I doubt I will be able to stay on diet while on vacation so probably won't lose any next week either. I am so close to being under 200 that I think that onderland will never come. Maybe all the walking I'll being doing will help me lose the 4 lbs to reach onderland. Who knows, wish me luck!
@b_lisieux and all the newer members I never took part in any of these challenges because one I would have to tell everyone my weight and two I was afraid people would judge me. This group would never judge you. We all have had the disappointment of stepping on the scale and the number getting higher despite our efforts. I now look at these challenges as a way of holding myself accountable. You could never let the group down as long as you are honest with yourself.
Wishing everyone a fun safe week especially if you are like me and travelling.7
